How come they never replicated this like they did the Souls games?

      Anonymous

Because they don't like doing sequels
Dark Souls 2 and 3 were never supposed to exist but Bamco basically forced it on them
Now they could do this combat system again but I doubt it would be a Sekiro 2

        >Because they don't like doing sequels
Then what do you make of Elden Ring? It's one of the most phoned uninspired gameplay sequels they've ever made and Miyazaki made it with complete creative freedom and the biggest budget he's ever had access to

You're right, I should've specifed his games or exempted that. Of course they didn't clean up the jank so almost all the cool shit it did was thrown away in subsequent games.

I say that but having thought about it that was probably going to happen even if DS2 was polished.

Oh and it's clear now that they'll never actually invest in making better enemy AI & instead just stack more anti cheese rock paper scissors reactions to player behavior, overly long or hyper fast attack animations & input reading.

Sekiro's a short game with satisfying combat that is shallow at its core. Gamers being bad at games, no DLC, no possibility of co-op, no way to expand on its combat system, and getting mogged by ER in hype and sales all give little reason to make a Sekiro sequel. There would be more money in BB2 and ER2 if they wanna do a sequel to something.

I got permafiltered by some gigahomie samurai on a rooftop. haven’t played since. I really felt like a b***h but I just couldn’t beat him. first game i’ve ever actually had to drop. I should retry

Genichiro? If someone told me they didn't get filtered by him I wouldn't believe them. He's the gatekeeper that forces you to learn the game. You should give it another go, every boss after him is a lot of fun because you know how to utilize all the games mechanics you had to learn to get past Geni. Then when you do NG+ you'll realize he's a jobber

I really liked it, the characters and world are pretty interesting. A lot of the bosses are fairly fun, it plays a good deal like a rhythm game (though I usually suck at those, I didn't have a terrible time at Sekiro). Navigating the world is pretty fun, you have a lot more freedom of movement than your regular Souls game. I'd give it a try.

Better core gameplay than Sekiro, same relationship Nioh has to Dark Souls. But also like Nioh and Dark Souls the game built around those mechanics is horrible repetitive garbage.

        >Better core gameplay than Sekiro
This might be the single most deranged statement I've ever read on this website. I like Wo Long because it let me play as a cute custom waifu with a less elegant version of Sekiros combat, and I think it's unfortunate it got review bombed by changs seething the controls were bad on their 20 year old keyboards they dump ash into, but the game is worse than Sekiro in every way

          >This might be the single most deranged statement I've ever read on this website.
you've got a lot to see, friend.

Simply put, Sekiros combat is far more simplistic (R1 mash until you hear sound queue) and thus has a lower skill ceiling.
Also even though every single level in Wo Long plays exactly the same those levels are better designed than anything in Sekiro, which lets you grapple past literally everything with zero skill requirement.

            Anonymous

Most Sekiro bosses filtered me, then once I thought I'd mastered them filtered me again on charmless. In Wo Long I had a moron build, played the whole game naked and 1st tried the majority of bosses, only one I can remember taking awhile was the dude on the horse

In an initial playthrough of Sekiro you're not going to just grapple past everything because like any fromsoft game you're going to want to explore every corner of the world for important items like prayer beads and gourd seeds, I think there's still an argument to be made for Wo Longs levels being better, but nothing in Wo Long comes close to the heights reached in Sekiros boss battles

              Anonymous

              >Most Sekiro bosses filtered me
              Fair enough
              >then once I thought I'd mastered them filtered me again on charmless.
Literally how? The timing for deflects is objectively not very tight and restoring posture is trivially easy. Also the same exact linear strategy that the game beats into your head repeatedly "r1 mash until sound queue or red text" still works perfectly fine. You have to be joking.
              >1st tried the majority of bosses
Sekiro is definitely more punishing (on NG), but again skill ceiling is lower. Wo Long mogs on repeat play-throughs.
              >In an initial playthrough of Sekiro you're not going to just grapple past everything
You can though, that's the problem. The PvE is terribly designed.

this game doesn't even get threads with any substance.
    it's always:

    >this is better than ER, guys
    >ER sucks, Sekiro is better
    >this is the best game ever, guys
    >guys? can we talk about how much this is than ER?

sekitards have absolutely nothing to discuss when it comes to sekiro because the game is so shallow.

There's plenty to discuss world/story/concept wise, but it's the most overlooked FromSoft game in that regard, and that can mainly be attributed to just how dominant its eastern storytelling sensibilities in here are.

I hate this game so much it’s unreal. Slogged through being told it was good. Literal Demon fight where you have to get in close, stare at red balls waiting for a red sign, hacking at a bullet sponge 187 times, getting killed if you get hit 3 times. So glad it’s the only souls game to sell worse than it’s predecessor.

I bought this game at launch and was never able to get past the fire bull. It's been years since I last tried though.

it's actually a very fun (and not that difficult) fight, you just need to react to what it does properly, and zone it at certain times. Helps if you use the umbrella.

Blazing Bull is probably the worst boss in the game, not the hardest but just the shittiest, no idea why they thought it was a good idea to put him that early. You'll probably have a lot more fun once you get past him

      >Elden Ring in S
enjoyed the game but holy shit the repetition of the bosses/dungeon design knocks it to low As for me, so many ruins in the overworld were the exact same layout, outside of a few unique catacombs they all felt the same. The bosses were pretty forgettable outside of a few of them.
