there are still many more flaws that SV never fixed in addition to adding new flaws like the removal of optional battle animations. i'd hardly call it better than SWSH. if anything, it's worse than SWSH
SWSH and almost all of gen 8 as a whole was the biggest giant pile of dogshit Pokemon had to offer. At least gen 9 heavily improved on story elements, writing, themes, and character casts. Granted gen 9 isn't great either, but still.
Yeah every generation it's like gamefreak are making one small step in improvements and seven steps back in everything else.
In a normal world, Gamefreak by now would have been in the business of creating Pokemon games that incorporate all the good elements of past pkmn games.
Things such as diving, rock climbing on mountains, flying, gliding, a good story, towns rich with lore, NPC's and side quests etc. all would have been mainstays, but no.
GF just reverts back to barebones every generation and in lieu of all that gives us a shitty new gimmick that will be forgotten by next gen.
But Masuda said they cut the dex to give us new high quality models though. His excuses were that cutting it would give us the kind of grand evolution on the formula one would expect from focusing on a console now only to give us HD 3DS games.
Worst games in the series. What confused me more than people being defensive over this game were the people insisting that the DLC was this huge improvement.
>*Panting* >"L-Leon! plsease!" >*Sweating* >Galar will run out of energy in a thousand years!" >*starts crying* >"W-WE CAN'T WAIT ONE DAY WE JUST CANT LEON PLEASE!!"
It seems that literally no one in the Pokemon universe is disinterested in Pokemon, so I assume if you say no or are indifferent you are likely killed off.
Reminder: Just a few dozen of these being treated well would have been enough to offer all of Galar all of the energy it could possibly need to prosper on an indefinite basis, at least until the sun fully dies and disappears.
If they really wanted to have a legendary Pokemon be the source of the story's main conflict, there was no need to shoehorn in some energy crisis plotline that's barely touched upon. It's as easy as making Rose a reckless, ruthless businessman who knows that repeatedly tapping into a demonic, eldritch-looking dragon and harvesting its Dynamax energy is bound to have potentially apocalyptic consequences if he keeps pushing his luck but thinks the risk is worth the insane cash flow.
No, we haven't treated them harshly enough. They're the second worst Pokemon games behind BDSP.
For the most part, Gen 8 (besides Legends Arceus, that was actually good) felt like an experiment to see how far they can cut things before the greater part of the fanbase sees it as an issue.
>implying plass isn’t the switch game that cut the most stuff from any other Pokémon game
there’s a reason why it’s the only Pokémon game on switch that underperformed
And we should care about this metric, and only this metric, because we are all corporate cogwheels in the great commercial machine.
Don't forget to buy the next Pokémon game, my fellow consumers of the Free World! For freedom!
Only thing good about these games is that I wanna frick many of its characters unlike the uggos of Paldea. Otherwise, the story is shit and the gameplay is even more dumb downed
Between SwSh and SV I am torn. Both base games were just a bother to chug through. It came down to the DLCs, where SV dominated with the Teal Mask part while SwSh cleared with the last part of the DLC.
Positives >training made even easier via mints >raids were occasionally fun >dynamax adventures were fun >terrain abilities were given (slightly) better distribution >two battle facilities, though both are really easy
That’s about all I can remember. The new roster of mon might be my least favorite since Gen 4. The game was mind-numbingly boring. Animations sucked. Story sucked. The battle gimmick is the worst in the series. The wild area felt devoid of life. SWSH really felt like a doubling-down on issues people had with SUMO.
Comparatively, I can at least praise SV for having charm and (finally) realizing Game Freak’s moronic obsession with telling a decent story. Helps that the paradox mon, regional forms, and cross-gen evos really appeal to my boomer senses. SV has a worse post-game than SWSH, though; there’s nothing to do outside of online events.
Honestly after this nobody should have been surprised by SV. Of course they made a couple of the right steps forward, but at the cost of almost everything else.
>Say you like something about the switch era games >SHUT UP BOOTLICKER wienerSUCKER SHILL REEEEE >Say something you don't like about the switch era games >YOU WILL BUY IT ANYWAY YOU ARE ENTITLED DEXtroony REEEE
It only escalated worse when the monster collecting boom happened with fans of those other games trying to lure in disgruntled pokemon fans into their series.
I'm not even kidding when I say it's one of the worst games I've ever played. It's not even that bad from a technical standpoint, there's glitchier games, uglier games, games with more problems, but at least there's something interesting about them, even if they're bad. SWSH is so uninteresting in how bad it is that it's baffling.
Yeah, they are 4/10 rather than 1/10
The frick are you talking about, this trash is the worst switch game st least SV got rid of the moronic 20min limit battle timer.
I'll never apologize. SWSHit is the worst and nothing will ever change that.

They weren't treated harshly enough.
This. Frick every single cyclegay in this franchise.
I love you collagegay, thank you for this image, always going to use it.
swshit gays in shambles
the lack of a natdex was one thing SS did right, and it was enough to raise the game to a solid 6/10
Most of these are nitpicks or shit other games already do.
>Reused models and textures
Most games do this nothing new.
But Masuda said they cut the dex to give us new high quality models though. His excuses were that cutting it would give us the kind of grand evolution on the formula one would expect from focusing on a console now only to give us HD 3DS games.
Calling them HD is a stretch. They don't even hit 1080p.
720p is still technically HD.
You're right, but that's a standard from 15 years ago. Do the Switch games even hold 720p in handheld?
SV certainly don't.
Those are a lot of Fuzes. I like
I liked the DLC, main game is basically just the middle area it gets old really really fast.
It wasn't as bad as gen 7 or ORAS, those are the worst games in the franchise by a country mile.
Worst games in the series. What confused me more than people being defensive over this game were the people insisting that the DLC was this huge improvement.

How do you answer without sounding mad?
I love Pokemon, the creatures that is.
It seems that literally no one in the Pokemon universe is disinterested in Pokemon, so I assume if you say no or are indifferent you are likely killed off.

>game isn’t that bad because other game is worse!
Sneed
Not at all I’m still waiting for Gamefreak to be KyoAni for gen 8
No, we haven't treated them harshly enough. They're the second worst Pokemon games behind BDSP.

Sales do not equal quality, dumbass.
Otherwise we'd be pretending SwSh are the second best Pokémon games when the opposite is true.
>Sales do not equal quality
cute cope, bort
>unovabort out of nowhere
Rent fricking free.
It's only metric any sane corporation would care about dumbass.
And we should care about this metric, and only this metric, because we are all corporate cogwheels in the great commercial machine.

the lowest point in the mainline games by far, total shit
Sill the worst Pokemon game on Switch
that's not saying much. all the switch games suck donkey dick
>Marnie, Melony, and Klara were wasted on this game
nope never touching gen 8 ever again
Definitely. The games were fine, unlike SV which doesn't fricking work and barely even looks like a Pokemon game.
Just because what came after it is worse doesnt mean it was ever good. That retrospective bullshit is unfounded.
No, still the worst mainline games by a large margin
Every game before and after it is better than it
>before
LGPE is just as bad as SWSH
>after
BDSP, PLA, and SV are just as bad as SWSH
Between SwSh and SV I am torn. Both base games were just a bother to chug through. It came down to the DLCs, where SV dominated with the Teal Mask part while SwSh cleared with the last part of the DLC.
for its subpar graphic, mediocre animation and dexit, it deserve way more hate.

Once again people pretend Sword and Shield are good
>raids and DA
>good
Honestly after this nobody should have been surprised by SV. Of course they made a couple of the right steps forward, but at the cost of almost everything else.
galar biggest problem imo is the lack of a real shiny hunting gimmic.
Funny how every fans of non-gen 8 gens still can all agree to shit on SwSh.
> no national dex
We didn't treat them harshly enough
That's the least of the switch era's problems.
No it isn't.
The games would still be ass even with the nat dex in.
And? The 3ds games were ass but the full national dex made them way less ass.
FRICK SWSH FOR MAKING IT SO YOU CAN NEVER HAVE A STABLE DISCUSSION ABOUT ANYTHING POKEMON FOREVER.
too many schizos shitting up the board
All people had to do was shut up and let bbnd do its thing.
>Say you like something about the switch era games
>SHUT UP BOOTLICKER wienerSUCKER SHILL REEEEE
>Say something you don't like about the switch era games
>YOU WILL BUY IT ANYWAY YOU ARE ENTITLED DEXtroony REEEE
It only escalated worse when the monster collecting boom happened with fans of those other games trying to lure in disgruntled pokemon fans into their series.
No we didn’t. Frick off
Attention to those angry about modern Pokemon and the dexcut. Play Pokemon Anil.
>another kanto fan-remake
yawn
everything after bw2 is complete garbage, no exception
No, we didn't. Those shit games deserved every bit of the hate they received.
Crazy part is that if they never mentioned the dexcut at all during pre-release the game probably would have sold even more.
It was only mentioned to evade potential future lawsuits. The house always wins.
For what it's worth it's better than SV.
>at least dog shit doesn't smell as bad as horse shit
They removed moves seemingly at random.
Not bringing back Return for BDSP when Lopunny exists is just ass backwards.
It's okay, we got Scald in return.
Together we can manifest a good Pokemon game into reality with shitposting.
Return, Hidden Power, and Pursuit come to mind
Signal Beam got cut too. While it's not as important as those, it was a coverage option that no longer exists.
Pursuit's removal is the reason why ghosts have risen to such a ridiculous level of power.
Signal Beam and U-Turn don't come close to filling the same role.
It and the removal of hidden power crippled electric types hard.
I'm not even kidding when I say it's one of the worst games I've ever played. Look forward to gen 10 look worse on the Switch 2 then Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Switch 1.
