I just finished this game. I've spent hours defending Persona 5 over this, but now that I've finally played it, I feel stupid.
This game is truly a masterpiece and makes Persona 5 look like trash. I should have trusted you guys earlier.

For being a carbon copy of Persona 5 I don't see how this is a masterpiece besides all the things P3 already did better like the characters and story. Also it's still inferior to FES.

NTA and I dont even know if P3R is better. But all the ingredients to make P5 a masterpiece are all there. IMO they fricked it up by

As a diehard 3/fes gay myself I have to say that p5 isn't at all bad, it's very good. I have a lot of issues with it and personal preferences of 3 over 5, particularly in characters, story, and tone, but it's still a good game.
Aigis has that shellshocked WW1 soldier stare down pat.
What is this shilling? Persona 3 was great for being so new, but 4 and 5 were both iterative. Tartarus is bad, the persona's and enemies aren't as interesting and SEES still hardly feels like friends. A decent chunk of the SL are really bad. wtf were they thinking with Herio. Chariot and Magician have terrible character designs.
P3 always had it's problems tbh, but it was absolute SOUL that I could overlook it
3's my personal favorite, but I still like 5. I don't think it's trash at all, but the characters, story, and writing I don't believe match 3. Both are lightyears ahead of 4 tho

Anyone else floored by the incredible storytelling in the 2nd act? How everyone fought their hardest but still arent granted a happy ending. No copouts no plot armor, there are stakes and there are sacrifices.

I just beat "October" which everyone talked about, and I wasn't completely impressed. It was still good, but I think I expected something a bit more earth shattering.

I feel like this opinion will be more common now that 3 has been P5ified gameplay-wise. Once you get past the slow pace it just has a better story and cast.
Forget better story, it actually has a story unlike the others
I really liked both for different reasons.
The sheer amount of animation downgrade is insane, every unique dorm scene was replaced by everyone calmly sitting
They give and take way with Reload. Lots of nice new visuals and animations, but without many of the old details. It’s funny to see scenes like Aigis’ second awakening show her stand and then sit back down instead of collapsing to her knees while surrounded by everyone.
Character animations just aren't as exaggerated anymore. There's a greater emphasis on "organic" poses and movements. If a character has an opportunity to sit, they're probably gonna sit. No real reason to stand around awkwardly. Gone are the days of silly and exaggerated reactions like what Junpei used to have in the old games. Character models can actually emote with their faces now, and that reduces the need for exaggerated movements.
No game with dating sim shit is a masterpiece.
