How so? P3 originally allowed you to use all weapon types. If fusion spells are in then I don't see how they would ignore it since fusion spells were removed in P3P alongside multiple weapon types.

and then p4, and p3p, and p5 all made everyone have 1 weapon type. if they wanted to bring it back they would've by now but its a lot easier for them to have only 1 set of animations per character and it makes them more marketable by having a very defined weapon, same reason this new p3 remake is giving them more zazzy costumes instead of just their school uniforms

When he equipped fist weapons he fought like Akihiko, when he equipped bow he fought like Yukari etc. Real reason why 4 and 5 removed it is because they simplified melee damages. P3 had strike, slash and pierce, 3 different physical damage categories. P4 has 1 and P5 has 2.

bold faced lie proven wrong by playing the game for 3 seconds. when using fists he would punch and kick in a way entirely unlike akihiko, he actually used the two hand sword/spear properly instead of tripping over himself. he slices with the 1 hand sword instead of doing for the rapier stabs like mitsuru

persona 3 portable still has 3 different phys types but also made it so you cant swap weapons because persona 4 did it, you can still use skills to bash/pierce but otherwise you're stuck as slash which can be annoying
