Just got Aigis and started block 3. It doesn’t replace FES, but it’s a masterpiece. It’s not just a good remake, but a huge improvement on Persona 5’s gameplay. This is the first non-mainline SMT Atlus game in a while to have any semblance of care put into balancing all the mechanics. I don’t like games being 70 dollars, but I can see why they made this their first 70 dollar release.
Theurgy and major arcana cards in tarturus really add a lot of replay for my merciless run. Sad there’s not fatigue but the twilight fragments half make up for a penalty

Dog is great for Debilitate and his powerful second Theurgy, which is a full party Charge.
Mitsuru's the best spellcaster, having the only Tier 4 spell, plus she can stack Ice Boost and Ice Amp without an accessory, and she has Concentrate. Her second Theurgy is basically Debilitate with damage.
Akihiko has God Hand, which is the hardest hitting Phys skill. However, he lacks Charge. His Theurgies are nothing special.
Amada has Heat Riser, but beyond that he's nothing special. His second Theurgy is really good, but his charge condition requires him to have below half SP.
All three have impractical Theurgy charge conditions. Dog's theurgy charges when he hits weaknesses, which isn't viable in most boss fights. Mitsuru needs debuff/cast ailments, but most bosses are immune to ailments. Akihiko needs to buff himself but he only has one buff.
Aigis basically can't die. She also has the second-most practical charge condition; her Theurgy charges when she uses phys skills, which is what she's basically doing for a good chunk of any fight.
Yukari is a better healer than she was in FES, and her second Theurgy is basically full party Concentrate. Her Theurgy charges when she heals, so basically she just needs to do her job.
Junpei is statisticaly the worst. Worst Theurgies, impractical charge condition, mediocre movepool.
On the subject of Mitsuru:
Diamond Dust has a power rating of √600.
Ice Boost is a 25% buff to Ice damage.
Ice Amp is a 50% buff.
Boost and Amp stack multiplicatively, which means the total buff is a little more than 75%.
Even without Concentrate, having both Ice Boost and Ice Amp allows her to outdamage Akihiko with God's Hand, which has a power rating of √800. If he had Strike Boost/Amp, this wouldn't be the case, but he doesn't. He doesn't even have Charge, while Mitsuru does, so overall, Mitsuru's the one who hits the hardest of the entire group.

Tbh I've been loving junpei so far because he's like an ape, I was thinking of keeping him all game but it sounds like he falls off really hard later on. Trying to decide between mitsuru and aki, as I like to typically use physical skills myself. Usually I ignore the Dark/light party members but never used them till they get mindcharge megi n stuff. I started with fricking vanilla P3 when it came out. It's a good remake. The only bad things about Reload are aesthetic, most remixes aren't as good as the original track, some cutscenes that were done in engine aren't as good looking as the old anime cutscene. But on the other hand it's pretty much 1 to 1, with only a few added scenes that don't take away from anything nothing like the overt meddling Atlus usually likes to do like Golden or Royal. Most importantly, they added a proper harder difficulty to account for combat and fusion upgrades and made Tartarus more aesthetically distinct between blocks and rooms, the two Achilles Heels of the original game.

The Answer has a problem that it's basically just dungeon crawling but without all the mechanics that make the base game memorable. There's no compendium, no social links so no extra experience for fusing personas and nothing to do besides go down the next level, defeat the boss and watch the next cutscenes.
It's only good thing are the fights at the end and even then they can be a chore because you have to manually get and level your personas so you may have to grind if don't have the appropriate party to do it.

You don't need Vile Assault and Gigantic Fist.
Mitsuru wants Mabufudyne for sure.
Running both Boost/Amp on Aki frees your accessory slot to be able to do other stuff.
Running mabufudyne means no room for ailments, which makes mitsuru weaker for tartarus exploration, which is what you’d run mabufudyne for.
Akihiko is a physical attacker, maziodyne with boost/amp is going to be weaker than gods hand with strike boost.
220 x 1.75 = 385 (Maziodyne)
800 x 1.25 = 1000 (Gods Hand)
Ergo keeping boost/Amp on aki is actually pointless unless you want him to hit hard on both ends for whatever reason but his attack is higher than his Magic.
You’re right about not needing Vile Assault and Gigantic Fist on Junpei but you’re also giving up his ability to hit all three physical weaknesses, which can be very useful, that being said I will acknowledge that by the time you reach the end of the game gigantic fist and vile assault will have outlived their usefulness so its fair to take off one or the other to keep Shift Boost.

Are there more than two types of hangouts with each chracter and can you get the passives with both? I wanna prioritize Ken and Fuuka first.
Nope, only two types of hangouts per member. The upgrades are just so each member has better/faster ways to fill the Theurgy meter. MC gets his upgrade when filling the compendium.
There are the Link episodes like the Shinjiro one, but the don't give buffs.

P3 is the best Persona game, always has been. It's cool that some of the annoyances have been removed without having to resort to modding it up (sad about them ditching the original singer, she mogs the new one by miles).
