Whats the point of wanting college age though? All the anime school tropes are highschool based and bellow. College seems like it would just be more serious of a game. In the mangas I've read it seems like its considered easier than highschool but the social aspect seems less tighter. Also in my experience being in college means theres less waifus and shippergays make up a pretty big part of this franchise.

I can't imagine Japanese college is like the stereotypical American college where everything is like a Comedy Central movie. Seems like a more normal college experience going off of what I've read in manga. My own experience with college is not very exciting or party filled. Also waifus only seem to last like 1 semester then you get a new cast. No "childhood friends" around or even drama.

College/uni experience varies to each person differently. To most people that's where dullness and soul drain of adult life begins. Most of the time in college you'll be sitting in home or library and studying, and working dull part time jobs while trying to scrape every cent possible to make ends meet unless you're filthy rich.
My personal college experience swayed around like a metronome. It was better than school at the start until eventually it all went to shit. There were no parties, no meetups and hangouts with buddies, only slow dull studying in library, trying to cope with fact that I'm broke most of the time, and lots of people around who don't know how to live outside parents home on their own.

I honestly don't even know how or where they frick they would bother taking the Persona franchise after 5 kind of just fricked the entire setting and status quo up by making the Phantom Thieves and their powers a world-wide known thing in the universe.
The only way they could even try to continue the story now would be to make it a generic shonen-school-hero setting like MHA with people summoning Personas rather than having innate powers.
I mean frick at least in P3 and P4 there was an excuse as to why only the playable characters could use their personas. P5 just kind of threw all of that logic and reasoning out the window.
Persona (and devil summoning) was already a pretty well known thing until persona 3, there were multiple organizations defending against these threats or studying them
It's only starting from persona 4 that only a bunch of school kids and their mascots knows about it
It's especially egregious in 5 since in canon devil summoners have their HQ in Tokyo and they would absolutely try to get to the bottom of what's happening during the game but you never hear about them at all

on the contrary, I stuck with a lackluster GF across my uni education, and have some regrets over how I handled 19-23, and im a person who genuinely feels little to no remorse or regret over his actions

The biggest weakness of a Persona game that takes place in college is that once you leave high school, things become a lot less standardized. What high school you go to doesn't necessarily say a whole lot about you as a person. But what college you go to, or even whether you go to college at all, says way more about you. Not only does college define what kind of person the protagonist is, it also defines what kinds of people he'll have contact with.
This is probably why they're reluctant to have a Persona game take place in college. The college itself will end up defining the protagonist's life and social circle.

People tend to forget but Persona games never have especially high budgets. High school's just fundamentally easier to work with so it'll always be what they end up using.

Fake. Persona protagonists has no persoanilities, not even Oldsona had it at least not when you were playing as that character. They won't change it this time around too. Therefore it's impossible to make it le dual protagonist game, not only that your party composition won't be carried around, both characters will have widely different Persona selection, it will be a chore when game decides you need to switch characters unless they just decide to share your non-unique personas with the other. Only somewhat believable aspect is existence of P4 and P5. Both of those games had mirror versions of protagonist as antagonist, or as one of the antagonists. 2 wild cards in P5 indicates something similar is coming.
