I agree 100% with this, of course other characters used the Venom symbiote after Eddie Brock in the comics... but comic book canon's always a mess anyways and they've been irredeemable garbage since OMD, so no one should care much, in all popular media we're used to seeing Eddie Brock as Venom... and why? It's simple, his dynamic works.
He's not evil, he has a twisted sense of justice, of course, but he isn't purposefully evil for the sake of it, with plans of world domination or destruction and such... he just really despises Spider-Man. I mean, imagine this, suddently someone shows up, they are more powerful than you in every way, and they know everything about you, not being afraid of using your weaknesses against you... someone whose sole purpose of living is a vendetta against YOU and you alone... it's SCARY. Venom's original design in TASM #300, without sharp teeth and the long tongue, he looks more human, just more... distorted, again, it's SCARY and it WORKS... and yet, he's also a goofball that's having fun every second of it, tauting Spider-Man and overall making the audience confused, he's so menacing, and yet he feels so... childish sometimes? Mostly when he has an edge on Spider-Man, taunting Peter Parker turns Eddie Brock into a happy child again, it's part of their dynamic too.
I mean, for the audience Venom's always making you feel something, sometimes fear, sometimes fun, but always engaged, the main issue with most times Venom's portrayed is that he's just a big monster without much personality or identity, he just has sharp teeth and looks angry all of the time, like a beast... and that's not Venom, though they seem to be going in that direction.
All I remember about Venom being funny was in the PS1 game where Peter and him where looking for someone or something and Venom says something like "Search the Web! Search the Web!"
The PS1 game had a great portrayal of Venom, it was awesome.

Hating Spider-Man for a very personal reason is a core part of the character, but its also more like they have to exist as a pair or it doesn't make sense contextually, if you know what I mean. Pete is always the first Spidey, Steve is the first Cap, etc. Without Eddy and his relationship with Pete, the symbiote and Venom just fall flat, its another gooey alien

We could even get a Venom, Miles, and Spider-Man team up down the line as Venom goes the lethal protector route if Norman is killed.
