Indie games are just further back on the tracks. It's actually non conformist yet influential game companies like FROM that are single handedly holding the industry back from complete collapse.

The indie scene of today is massively different than what it used to be, and with them doing shit like publishers, acquiring other devs, being extremely profit-driven, and stretching the definition of "indie", they're just going to become a second, smaller AAA scene in some years.

I've seen it on the inside. Boomer game directors arguing over FROM games because it flies in the face of everything they thought about game design and mass appeal. Younger Devs arguing with out of touch older Devs who don't understand the appeal and want games to be flashy, automated press x to do cool shit.
