>Embrace Dandori.
No, I fricking hate Dandori. I will never platinum a Dandori Battle or Dandori Challenge and I've made peace with that fact. I barely reach gold and I'm floundering every time.
I don't even understand how people struggle with Dandori challenges.
Like if they were intense, pixel perfect micromanaging then sure; Starcraft's competitive multiplayer is inaccessible to the average player for this reason.
But they're not.
In fact, they're so lenient that almost all of them can be done gold or better just by >run at any enemy being attacked by pikmin >If a treasure needs 5 pikmin, put 5 pikmin on it. >make the dog fight things too. >If you run out of pikmin, press the "idle pikmin come here" button.
I can get gold in the challenges but it does feel like you have to be pixel perfect to get platinum. Though I don't mind them quite as much as the battles which are just plain anti-fun.
That really only describes the level 1 or 2 challenges. Others have gimmicks like choosing when to open and close gates, using ice pikmin to open shortcuts at the right time, deciding what pikmin is right for the job and deciding when or where you want to split up or attack with Oatchi.
I recommend trying to get the best possible score you can, it makes you see the stages in an entirely different light versus just trying to pass with the bare minimum score.
I'll give you the ice pikmin ones, since about a third of this game's puzzles seem to be ice pikmin related.
I'll also give you the purple onion stage as taking a little more thought.
But bum-rush works for literally all the rest.
3 is definitely the hardest to route efficiently, but 8? Super simple. Just feed Oatchi the Onion, get a few purples and ignore the wraith. Most of the time the wraith just fricks off in the square room and ignore you completely. I did it with something like 2 minutes remaining. The boss rush one and the white Onion one are worse than 8.
8 is the one where you have white and purple pikmin having to carry fruits and vegetables. The one you're thinking about is 10:
1)All adult bulbords
2)Building bridge to the sage in freezer
3)Melon treasure with Ice, Yellow and White
4)Watery area with Winged and Blue Pikmin
5)White onion
6)Run trial with five gates
7)Five purples vs 90 larvas
8)Kitchen with White and Purple
9)Boss rush
10)Purple onion
Oh shit you're right. I'm assuming pluckaphone is vital for Kitchen considering all of the flowers and buried Pikmin? At least it's small so it's easy to wrap your head around
I don't think the pluckaphone is really necessary for any map to platinum except maybe 4 due to allt he winged pikmin buried.
1 can be plat without the ice pikmin.
2 only has ten pikmin buried and are not mandatory to plat
5 only has five winged pikmin buried and are again not mandatory
6 is easy and I still wonder what they were thinking, also no buried Pikmin
7 is a random shitfest but not buried Pikmin
8 has no buried Pikmin except the first time you use the purple candypop
9 has only five buried Pikmin
10 only has the two candypop buds necessary
And frankly I think you can plat 3 and 4 anyway even if you lose a little bit of time unplucking some Pikmin.

But I FEEL better with the Pluckaphone, I don't waste time standing around just watching the pluck animation
Also 3 is probably the one Pluckaphone is most handy, considering there's those yellows way up on the ledge you can get much earlier with it
Getting my ass blasted by the last dandori challenge with the white-purple-winged combo. Not interested in a guide, want to figure it out myself. I would just like it on record that I cannot fricking plat this to save my life.
Unironically use the dog anon.
Get Oatchi the Swallow skill and have him run any and all treasure that's across water plus the moldy drawf corpse behind the raised gate. Also there are two burried treasures. Also build the wall ASAP, have winged deliver the materials.
Spoiled incase you are serious.
It's pretty easy in truth.
>best pikmin 4 cave is wholesale lifted from pikmin 2 I'm being a little sarcastic, but I honestly wasn't that impressed with 4's caves. they all felt kind of weak thematically
Just 100%'d Pikmin 4 tonight and I'm kinda sad. I spent a good month or so being hyped up for 4 and even though I felt glad doing everything the game had to offer I was starting to get burnt out towards the end. I don't think I should play again until the 1+2 physical release comes out and I can marathon all the games. I'm happy I got to play 4 though, it's probably my new 2nd favorite. I appreciate how it felt like a passion project for the whole runtime even if sometimes they went too far in the direction of making it accessible.
>release game meant to be replayed >perfectionists get a tad anxious and don't finish the game in droves >serie's focus diverted forever
Meanwhile Roguelikes flourished with no qualms due to the short bite size replay ask.
Lol no. It was a terrible hybrid of 2 and 3. 4 is a good 2 sequel, but we have never gotten a true sequel to 1 again. The fruit deadline is a joke and you know it.
The fruit deadline is a joke but at least it exists. And it's kind of cool how Louie steals all your juice, you get complacent with your huge juice buffer then it's all gone.
>pikmin start squeaking the Luigi's Mansion theme >stutterstep the walking so they get desynced >turns into a cacophony of random squeaking for a while
My P1 run is going meh so far. Lots of mistakes and shit because it's been over 10 years since the last time I played. Can't remember optimal Forest Navel order to save my life.
Some treasures only spawb in the afternoon. Plus contrary to the first areas that have some cave with only one sublevel, all caves in serene shores have at least three.
I doubt it's actually possible.
>Pikmin 2 >Louie and the President make an effort to use Pikmin >Pikmin 3 >The whole crews learns to use Pikmin >Pikmin 4 >A team made to rescue people >Only the recruit and Dingo bother to learn how to use Pikmin, the others just sit on their asses at base
It's funny to me how Dinog was meant to be a coward incompetent yet he handles the dandori challenges and battles easily
He allows you to bypass dandori challenges and Dandori battles. Which is a huge help to finish blossoming arcadia and serene shores in one day as you don't lose time when doing those.
Plus you can always plat the challenges later.
The radioactivity that presumably killed humanity is also a food preservative, which explains why fresh treats like chocolate and cookies can be found presumably decades after humanity is gone and also why Geiger counters read it. It's simply not harmful to Hocotatians/Koppaites in an inverse to how Oxygen is a deadly gas to them.
Almost done with Pikmin 3, so downloading Pikmin 4 now. It looks a lot different from all the previous games so I hope it's good. 1 is my favorite so far followed closely by 3 (They may switch positions, 3 is really good). 2 was spent majority underground where there wasn't much strategy gameplay so I liked it less.
Always hated that Frontier Cavern floor with the chess pieces where 99% of the time the layout makes it so that you HAVE to throw/charge your Pikmin into water to get them across it, hopefully before any of them drown.
I just got 100% in all areas so I have beat the game. I am missing ONE structure which I have no Idea how to find. Other than getting plat in all the challenges/battles/trials, I think I've done it all? I'll probs have a break and then attempt a plat run.
After beating the first two areas and paying off the debt a month ago, I finally got around to playing Bikmin 269 again. Hopefully you may forgive my venting:

I don't know if it's because this is the third area you're able to access, but for some reason all the caves in the Nether Reactor felt extremely tedious. This one was no different. The surplus of keys makes finding all the treasure a headache. At least there wasn't a ton of ledges without rails like the other caves. >The Annoying Hole
The Waterwraith cave was actually the least annoying cave to do in the whole area, mainly because it's more dandori than having to fight a bunch of bullshit modded enemies like the rest of the mod. Shell Bikmin and the Sonic shoes completely gimp the encounter with [him]. Somehow the only cave post-egg Bikmin that I didn't reset a single time. >J.N. Warehouse
The first three floors were cool, and then [he] returned. Way too many bosses on floor 6 (or whichever it was), plus that end boss might genuinely give me liminal nightmares. >Atrocity Facility
Most of the time I'd reset a bunch against specific pests to preserve as many Bikmin as possible only to realize the area itself didn't warrant needing to reset that much. Would've probably been fun overall if I knew I didn't have to stress out about it. That third-to-last level took forever, but no resets were needed.
I'm traveling later today so I can't do the Roche Limit just yet, but hopefully it's not as bad as I fear it is.
Doesn't the Secret Safe imply Hocotatians have been to PNF-404 (Earth) before Olimar? Because it's obviously an actual real-life sized Piggy Bank from Earth, yeah? Someone had to have gone to Earth to retrieve and/or write down the design specifications for it.
They have rescue dogs in 4, even Olimar has a dog in all the games. This implies there are probably also pigs outside Earth.
do you think olimar and louie, after being alone together on the planet for so long, started to develop some kind of feelings for one another?
Olimar probably developed more hatred for Louie than he did before. Louie is perpetually aloof, the only expressed emotion he ever shows is anger when he got left behind.

But fighting for survival together, with no one but each other, in new and unknown places and situations, is bound to make two people attached to one another.

Olimar likely patched up Louie's injuries in the ship, scolding him for his reckless behavior, while Louie just sat there, giving no response like the autist he is.
But deep down, Louie probably felt some kind of comfort just from having Olimar around.
Accept the leaves.

No, I fricking hate Dandori. I will never platinum a Dandori Battle or Dandori Challenge and I've made peace with that fact. I barely reach gold and I'm floundering every time.
Go practice Pikmin 3's mission mode and this entire game will be a cake walk.

The only really hard ones are the Sage Leaf ones. I managed to plat a normal one without trying while wrapping everything up for the end game.
That really only describes the level 1 or 2 challenges. Others have gimmicks like choosing when to open and close gates, using ice pikmin to open shortcuts at the right time, deciding what pikmin is right for the job and deciding when or where you want to split up or attack with Oatchi.

FRICK the surface
All my homies hate the surface

I'm being a little sarcastic, but I honestly wasn't that impressed with 4's caves. they all felt kind of weak thematically
4 had way too many caves with less than five floors, barely any enemies, and either weak shit "bosses" or no boss at all
I feel rage when one of my pikmin dies
>"Roger, roger!"
you just know: the character
Why does everything wants to eat the pikmin?
do they really taste that good?
They are carrots.
Carrots are yummy.
go away mom I will NOT eat the carrots
YOU VILL EAT ZE CARROTZ, ANON.
They are probably delicious juiced.
They're the prey species of PNF-404, which is why their numbers are so little when you first find them in each game.
I'm enjoying 4 more than I though I would but it's still at the bottom of my power ranking of the series.
After getting the 1+2 bundle to play Pikmin for the first time, I am currently on day 5 with 4 ship pieces. This is a neat little game so far.
>I am currently on day 5 with 4 ship pieces. This is a neat little game so far.
Dandori issue.
You gonna die anon.
Don't worry yet but try to get at least 2 parts on a few days so you're not as strapped for time
Keep in mind your real goal in Pikmin 1 is to finish the entire game in 7 days
Just 100%'d Pikmin 4 tonight and I'm kinda sad. Pikmin 3 looked better than 4.
I really do not enjoy Pikmin 4.
What don't you like about it?
I think your really a homosexual
Playing Pikmin 3
How the frick did they juice an avocado
Do these frickers ever shut the FRICK up during night missions?
They never shut the frick up ever. The crew is basically the worst part of the game.
You're gonna want more glow pikmin. Focus on collecting after that ehehehe
>protect the lukemoil new blood
>says the lazy black sack of shit sitting 300 miles away in his spaceship
I'd like to draw some new blood from that nerd's face, that's for sure.
>Casually experiments on the whole crew for his sick joy
When does pikmin 4 get
hard?
when you learn how to properly spoiler
Kingdom of Beasts
The final set of dandori challenges. It's driving me insane trying to get these platinum's.
>You get access to swarming early on in Olimar's side mode
I just wish the whole game was like this mode. Just do Pikmin 1 again, frick it. These devs seem torn on making a game and making a product.
>release game meant to be replayed
>perfectionists get a tad anxious and don't finish the game in droves
>serie's focus diverted forever
Meanwhile Roguelikes flourished with no qualms due to the short bite size replay ask.
They really needed to find a way to indicate to people that the game is meant to be replayed.
They already did Pikmin 1 again with Pikmin 3.

Those poor pikmin...
>more than 20 pikmin die in one attack
>reset level
Heh. Nothing personnel, frickos.
>60 pikmin die to one bomb
Oh well that sucks, guess I'll go make some more
And so many FRICKING DEAD.
if only THERE WAS A WAY TO REWIND THE CLOCK......
newbies don't remember 20 floor pikmin 2 dungeons where you were lucky to have enough guys left to drag the final treasure back
This and piklopedia teaching me fascinating alien biology is probably why I think fondly on it. I was a masochist even before finding Dark Souls.

BRO WHAT THE FRICK HAPPENED?
Is it possible to beat serene shores in one day?

It's funny to me how Dinog was meant to be a coward incompetent yet he handles the dandori challenges and battles easily
He’s not incompetent, just lazy
Yonny at least has the excuse of curing Leaflings and doing offscreen experiments for his twisted machinations.
I love Yonny, he is so fricked up
why use pikmin when you have a funny dog, this is Oatchi 4 not Pikmin 4 dude
Night expeditions too. Dingo is an actual Chad who doesn't use Oatchi.
>he used Dingo to do anything
Didn't beat the game.
But what does he even do exactly to help you?
He allows you to bypass dandori challenges and Dandori battles. Which is a huge help to finish blossoming arcadia and serene shores in one day as you don't lose time when doing those.
Plus you can always plat the challenges later.
That's cool, I honestly thought the joke was that he doesn't do anything but I guess I just wasn't using him.
Iceberg time.
The ship from 2 still functions in 3 but the AI was killed which is why it never speaks in the game.
The radioactivity that presumably killed humanity is also a food preservative, which explains why fresh treats like chocolate and cookies can be found presumably decades after humanity is gone and also why Geiger counters read it. absolutely rad boss. Why the frick wasn't he in Cave for a King?
what's happening here
take the louiepill
gladly
After 10 hours I just now realized you can take out all types of pikmin at once in Pikmin 3
By holding ZL
So what were they thinking with this one? Who at Nintendo's dev team back in 2003/2004 was THIS fricking pissed?
>gets Groinked
Always hated that Frontier Cavern floor with the chess pieces where 99% of the time the layout makes it so that you HAVE to throw/charge your Pikmin into water to get them across it, hopefully before any of them drown.

Not even sorry.
Become Groinked homosexual.

Is it Atrocity or Atro City?
I don't know what you mean by that.
Sonic was mentioned and made me think of a stupid Hydrocity pronounication joke.
Nah, it's just a rename for the Hole of Heroes.
So are the light pikmin just continuously failing every night where you're not there to guide them or something?
>doing sage trials
>go through stage blind
>"okay time to reset and get plat"

God I hate this cursor snapping so much, the game would be so much better without it (and having swarm without it being an endgame item).

Romantic? Absolutely not. Friendship? Unlikely, considering how closed-off Louie is.

Swear these are the only decent threads up right now.
Still crazy there was an entire area made for blues that got cut in 3.
3 seemed like a slapped together mess for the most part, like everything else on pii u
I'm almost done with Pikmin 3 and only just learned that any type of pikmin can use bomb rocks not just yellows
What the FRICK is his problem?
