This new direction for the plot makes a lot of sense considering how they tied up the cliffhangers in Pikmin 3 Deluxe. The original Pikmin 3 had a bonus log if you collected all the fruit that said that Louie seemed to be left behind again, and then there was that mysterious falling object that landed on the planet. Deluxe then completely invalidates them both by saying "No Louie made it back to Hocotate" and having that shooting star actually be Olimar and Louie's return shuttle. Something tells me the original Pikmin 4 that was "close to completion" a decade ago was an actual follow-up to 3, and when 4's development decided to go in a new direction they made the changes in 3 Deluxe to haphazardly provide an 'end' to that timeline.
>reboot >change genre >still title it Final Fantasy 7 Remake
I mean, I don't believe it's a reboot but it wouldn't be the worst example of such a thing
Yes. It's also better for marketing purpose. There are a lot of examples of reboots/soft reboots out there that is marketed as sequels, like Resident Evil VII.

Any amount of research into the topic shows that this wasn't the case. The game most likely just got Prime 4'd without an announcement and went into dev hell
If you love japan so much why don't you move there and then jump in front of a train after getting depressed from living there just like the rest of them
What are the odds that the intro is just worded/translated weird and instead of a new timeline this it's just a different adventure Olimar had sometime after Pikmin 3?
Hey Pikmin took place on a new planet that wasn't PNF-404, but was filled with human contraptions and pikmin. So if Hey Pikmin is treated as canon that would have HUGE weird lore implications.
I think that they are all in new timelines except for 1 and 2.
3 planet has a different layout and mechanical onions.
4 has different onions, that are more like tangerines and different timetravel (?)
Hey Pikmin is in another timeline as is the VR game.
I actually like that more, but they do sure common themes and enemies and inspirations, like Zelda.
Yeah on the website it apparently said he was hunting for treasures, and when you discover Ice Pikmin Olimar mentions it's a new type of Pikmin he just discovered
There's also the fact Louie will appear in the game so I doubt it's an alternative timeline
>There's also the fact Louie will appear in the game
Is there any pointers or source to this besides outdated "Louie is the villain" interviews from years ago? I want to have hope, but right now it seems like just a reboot/alt timeline
Website literally has a new render similar to Olimar's
Oh, okay. Thank god, I love that moron. I wonder if he'll still be the villain or what his deal is. >inb4 Louie got Pikmin-ified like Olimar when he got left behind
>3 Deluxe retconned this
Aw what? That was what I was looking forward to most, plot-wise. At least he's going to show up at all, but for what purpose I can't imagine anymore.
same, laughed so fricking hard when he still squished when his hp was zero
I got got
Holy frick thank god I wasn't the only one. Didn't lose a single Pikmin all demo except to this dumb motherfricker not dying when he's on his side and squishing 4 reds.
My PTSD with the clams in Pikmin 1 eating my Blues for breakfast taught me to never trust a damn thing that stalls its movement
Especially when it's supposedly dead, I will never forget swarming sheargrubs just to see 10+ 'min die to grubs that were dead as soon as I swarmed them
It really seems like 3 types is the max. A lot of things point to that in the guide
You can find a lot in the player guide, like how glow pikmin can be used in caves and are the new bulbmin
That's the main reward from night time, the abilty to get glow seeds to be used in caves and spawn in glow pikmin which are immune to everything
I can't tell if they can fly though
Man it astounds me how competent Olimar is With the dolphin compared to this rescue crew. >managed to turn found treasure into usable items with both the dolphin and In pikmin two. >Understands how to use local resources and use them for further advancements >does Bottany as a hobby and learned how various creatures work and their scientific family
Is everyone who isn't a hocotate Freight employee just incredibly incompetent?
>The President walked into the wrong loan place >The Koppains literally ate themself to death >Rescue Core + More all crashed and went into stasis
Yeah
Olimar is basically the smartest person in the setting.
Remember that he's a >engineer (designed the dolphin) >biologist >pilot/astronaut explorer >botanist >salaryman >husband and father
The hocotate freight staffers are incompetent too, Olimar is the only employee of any merit, remember?
Olimar is basically the smartest person in the setting.
Remember that he's a >engineer (designed the dolphin) >biologist >pilot/astronaut explorer >botanist >salaryman >husband and father
Olimar can't even fly a ship, every game he crashes the ship at least once and in 3 the ship from 2 is so badly damaged and ruined he had to bum a ride from Alph and friends to get home.
>The Rescue Corps' newest officer. A promising recruit who's accepted a dangerous mission to rescue colleagues that have gone missing.
Is that so hard to do?
It's all about indoctrinating the youth. They know what they're doing.
>They
>something that's been done for centuries >2023 Gankerirgins losing their absolute homosexual minds over it because they can't stop worshiping trannies
And I thought you inbreds throwing tantrums over "double-spacing sentences was invented by our mortal enemy reddit!" was the most moronic thing I've ever seen.
>The Rescue Corps' newest officer. A promising recruit who's accepted a dangerous mission to rescue colleagues that have gone missing.
Is that so hard to do?
Not since the late 2010s. Older games could recognizer player gender just fine despite the gendered language differences between japanese and english. And, no, they is plural.
I think it's really boiling down to being completely customizable than anything overtly political. In this case I don't think it's something really necessary to fixate on over the gameplay.
Listenning to Olimar's log, I'm reminded that Hocotatians have the deepest goddamn voices, both Louie and Olimar sound incredibly manly and Sancho's voice is just for comedic effect.
I've been enjoying it, the caves spit you out at the entrance, and let you reassemble your team before entering, and after leaving. i wouldn't be surprised if there were onions for each type, considering what the menu looks like.
Caves being back is great. I had a lot of fun. Excited for the main game.
The dog being able to do shit like carry 20 FRICKING CAPACITY is pretty crazy though.
It's a bit too hand holdy at points, but I enjoyed it immensely. I was legit not expecting the enemies to be that hard, I even lost a couple of pikmin which is something that hasn't happened to me in awhile.
It's too easy, but this is the first area after all. Took me about 3 hours to do everything possible, only leaving the pumpkin and blue onion. Considering how I haven't even fought a boss yet, this is gonna be a big ass game.
>YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i-i-is that a heckin' chompy wompy gud boi galactic doggo?!?! he is bussin fr fr oh hahahaha are those little flower men? hahaahahah they remind me of my Piklikker dilator so I'll call them... le Pikmin XD on god
>Olimar because a savage Hocotatian Pikmin hybrid who becomes obsessed with making the castaways and crew members be hybrid just like him
Never thought Nintendo would let their main protagonist of a franchise because the antagonist
My only concern is it'll feel a bit bloated. Pikmin 1 was a bit short due to the day limit but it felt like a very complete game. Every modern nintendo game thinks if it carries on forever it's suddenly a better game
That's kinda my issue with Luigi's Mansion 3. I loved the gameplay, ghosts, and floor themes, but it felt like it lasted way longer than the gameplay could stay entertaining. Hopefully Pikmin 4 won't feel unnecessarily bloated.

I was originally going to get P4 digitally but this makes me want to get it on cart, because it doesn't seem as replayable as 1 or 2 and it's 10 gigs
i really dislike the way the game doesn't let you spam pikmin onto a task. it auto stop at the minimum needed, but the new feature where whistling pikmin in the middle of a task doesn't auto call them over will be a pain
Probably because they wanted to simplify it for newbies, but it just overcomplicates things. My Pikmin should be running towards me when I whistle for them without any delay. I'm just nitpicking at this point, though. I still preordered the game and I'm gonna play the shit out of it on release day. All in All, it's already better than 3 for me so I'm not disappointed. I just hope there's some difficulty, because I really don't want to impose a challenge on myself just to make it harder.
>the new feature where whistling pikmin in the middle of a task doesn't auto call them over will be a pain
it was like this in 3 also, it's so you don't accidentally stop pikmin from carrying stuff/doing tasks while calling others, just double tap it to call them when they are working, it's not hard
you should be always using the minimum amount of pikmin to complete a task for maximum multitasking efficiency, you don't want the president to lose his shekels and get flayed alive by the loan sharks, do you?
should i just wait for the full game? How bad was that empty feeling of "Well now I have to wait for the actual game to come out" for you after finishing it?
also anons that played give me a rating of your initial impression on a 1-10 scale don't hold back if you're packing the autism juices tonight lay it on thick with your review i want to see paragraphs my Black folk but if you just want to reply with a number thats cool too
7/10 for initial score. i'm having fun when i actually get to play, but the tutorials are way too interruptive.. i would say Play the demo now since it says it carries over and you can get all the annoying Tutorial stuff out of the way.
i already beat day one with several caves explored and zero deaths. plus i'm a captain in a strange new land. don't want to seem to experienced on my first run
you aren't able to switch to oatchi immediately, seems to require an upgrade. means waiting for pikmin to complete tasks which doesn't feel great. i want to multitask.
It's a pretty lengthy demo. Much longer than 3's, which by comparison lasted up until the first boss of Garden of Hope
Like 2-3 days of content, and with caves, it makes the demo even longer. The area itself is open. So definitely don't play the demo if you're worried you'll be craving more, because they open up the floodgates and then turn it off halfway through
I'd say it's a 9. Fun game.
I don't have my Switch on me. My brother took it with him for his trip and won't be back for another couple of weeks. How is the low camera angle? That's the thing that really worried me, going from an overhead camera to something more akin to an action game.
>people were actually worried that if you found pikmin underground you wouldn't be able to use if them if you were at the cap
You guys panic way too easily.
Haven't gotten to play the demo yet. Can you use regular aiming/free aim like in pikmin 1/2? The snap lock on aiming is incredibly gay and I fricking hated it.
Did they just forget about the design principles behind Pikmin or something? The game has always been kind of biologically/scientifically rooted, but now we have actual floating ghost Pikmin that just teleport around and become a ball of energy. They could have easily made some kind of bioluminescent slime-mould Pikmin and have them coalesce into a ball instead of magic ghost Pikmin. The "Sparklium" shit annoys me too, could have just needed juice from the fruit and specific parts from the tech lying around instead of gay mystical feel-good energy
if you think glow pikmin are pushing it, how do you feel about the waterwraith? plasmwraith? honeywisps? jellyfloats and slurkers? pikmin literally turning into ghosts when they die? none of these make biological/scientific sense
Pikmin only makes a token attempt at scientism but nothing is really designed to be biologically strict, there are already ghosts and the supernatural in Pikmin
why does everything about this game have a layer of handholding to it? This is the exact opposite of what Pikmin 1 was. The game literally has a rewind feature, that's how little faith Nintendo has in the people they want to buy this game.
>The game literally has a rewind feature
It's not minute-by-minute. It's essentially the same thing as resetting the game to get a new RNG dungeon only with less button pressing.
>you have to transfer data over for special item
frick off why you do this to my autism you homosexuals I want to start fresh when the game comes out but also want the item reeee reeeee reeeeeeeeeeee what kind of item is it anyways reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
>I want to start fresh when the game comes out
Just start playing right before release and treat it like you got the game a little early. That's always what I do when demos carry to the full game.
Not at all invested in these characters but the gameplay seems solid. Visuals seem like a slight downgrade from Pikmin 3. It's nice to play something that feels like a sequel to Pikmin 2.
Someone in another thread raised concerns that the caves might have just two or three levels due to being casualized, how were the caves in the demo? I know this is early game stuff but do they at least go past that already?
it's hard to tell, but the other anons are right, the game is really easy so far. and you can return to each sublevel directly and the floor keeps the state it was in when you left it i.e if you left a corpse on the floor, it's still there when you go back. the caves have a lot more details, and they repurposed the cave entrances from 2 to be wind elevators.
game looks fine
kind of sad that they don't want to go back to the isolation of the first game though, that seems like a relatively rare thing in games recently
I really dislike the RPG upgrading elements, they feel so tacked on and boring.
Plus the lock-on makes combat an actual joke.
I'm keeping my hopes up but it definitely seems like they're aiming for a mainstream audience now.
I'm gonna go finish 2 again while I wait.
There's functionally no difference between the upgrades in this game and the upgrades in 2. You just have more of a choice about when and if you want to upgrade.
this has to be the first time i've heard anyone complain about a basic upgrade, it's like someone complaining about motherfricking z-targeting or drop shadows.
Now imagine z-targeting without the Z, and every time you aim near anything it snaps to it and you have to fight it to get it off now, in a game where aiming matters a whole fricking lot.
Frick you moron.
I would argue that 1 is more difficult than 2 because of all the jank. 2 is just really unbalanced. Most of the game is really easy, it's just there's spikes of bullshit the game throws at you.
focus on "better"/higher resolution graphics rather than solid framerates. happens with every console. compare the early ps3 and Xbox 360 games to the late gen ones.
>repurposed the cave entrances from 2 to be wind elevators
My god that is extremely gay. The choice of taking a geyser or keep going was a great mechanic. Why are kids treated as literally fricking morons these days?
My only complaints thus far are >your footsteps are really fricking loud >you can't send your pikmin to charge while riding oatchi >You can only control between (You) and Oatchi
Maybe at Control level 3 since Oatchi can gather pikmin for you he'll just become 2nd Louie
Some jokes implying men are the providers in a marriage while the women just spend, some emails parodying catfishing lonely men, and the removal of all non-Nintendo product placement.
They fixed the botched NoA translations it other than that because the brand deals ran out ages ago they had to retexture anything that isn't a Nintendo product so a duracell battery is just video game brand generic battery now
Product placement removed from treasures, some descriptions where changed for basically no reason, and also it uses the EU changes (Wollyhop instead of Wollywog, weed leaf recolored to not be weed anymore)
why are these threads always filled with people lying to cover up for woke nintendo?
these people are trying to pretend that they didn't censor jokes from the original japanese release considered problematic by noa

I think it's less "pretending" and more "just didn't know because we're not Japanese and didn't play that version"

unlikely. these facts have been mentioned in every thread discussing the censorship and yet these people continue to try and downplay it and spread misinformation

It doesn't help that most didn't bother to check the original Japanese.
They basically gave it the animal crossing treatment.

No need to be toxic about it. It's not feasible for Nintendo to actually get all the licenses back nowadays.

we dont use that word here
we say "no need to be a Black person about it"
Am I crazy or was there a screenshot of a radiation bar, like it had the radioactivity symbol and a segmented bar meter. Has that had any explanation yet?
It was like this in 3 deluxe too, it’s a good feature.
I like how you can change the camera to be top-down like the original games. Idle pikmin becoming active once you go near them (as opposed to having to physically bump into them) when they’re waiting at a base is good too.
Favorite thing has to be the quick-menu-thing on the D-pad. custom button mapping is very useful. Overall a lot of QoL changes since pik3
One of the caves i went to had a dandoori challenge in it, so far It seems like there are 3 types of caves, one for battles, one for challenge/time trials, and one that is functionally a cave from 2 without RNG, so exploration.
Forgot to take a picture but the Pink Pik-man is reachable, challenges you to a short Dandori segment (like the Pikmin 3 missions but underground), talks in short bursts, he faints at the end and you take him back to the ship. No name, says he's from PNF-404, says you need to find the Doctor to find out more.
>says he's from PNF-404
Wait, does anyone else call the planet PNF-404 in the demo? I haven't had the time to download it myself, but if this is the bad end timeline, then the Koppaites wouldn't have named the planet yet, right?
>Charlie >Shepherd
Is Olimar the only captain actually worthy of the title? Charlie at least contributes, but Shepherd really seems like a classic case of nepotism.
In the full game, they seriously need to move the charge ability over to the initial set of upgrades you can buy. Being stuck with only throwing for so long is a real drag.
Maybe it comes at a certain amount of sparklium collected? I avoided treasures like the plague for a while because I didn't want the demo ending prematurely.
1. pikmin has always been easy
2. when the game releases there might be more difficulty options
3. it's the first section of the game. it might get harder at the end
>pikmin has always been easy
The 3 games have wildly different difficulties. You could call them all easy, but it's three very different versions of "easy"
Bomb rock traps are not difficult to avoid once you've gotten a good hand of the game. Groinks are bad, sure, but that's what Bitter Spray is for.
Anonymous
Yeah honestly 2 seems hard but once you utilize purples and the sprays its probably even easier than 3. The content itself is "harder" than the other games but the tools it gives you are so bonkers-tier broken that it evens out.
Walking ahead does, and you can easily stunlock the Gatling Groink, and even if you don't, the shots it shoots at its feet to get Pikmin off rarely, if ever, kill
>Only one (1) playable captain >Castaways look moronic and unmemorable >More than likely they'll just huddle around your ship instead of providing dialogue and unique end-of-day mission logs
WHERE DID THE SOVL GO
>There are people who playing the demo right now and are at two hours with only 500 sparklium, the same length it took me to beat the demo and explore 50% of the map
Is it just me, or do casuals really suck at Pikmin?
It will at least match Pikmin 2. I was actually surprised when I finished the demo and realized I'd spent the last ~2 hours playing and had only just 50% the first area.
I think it will be. I played through the entire first area, which took a few hours, and there were only two new enemies, but the trailers have shown dozens of the frickers.
They’re bringing back an insane amount of enemies, the locations seem to be fairly large, they’ve brought back caves, there’s many upgrades you can work toward, new night mode, etc etc.
By the looks of it it’ll DEFINITELY be longer than 1 and 3. Whether it surpasses 2’s length is yet to be seen, but I’m fine with it being shorter than 2 provided that it offers more unique gameplay experiences than it.
I kind of hate how this game plays, alot. For a game where you actions and time management matter, the lock on and the "call hit stun" constantly getting in the way of me to do anything, along with all the constant reminders and shitty dialogues.
It feels like im at work, this game feels like im working and i hate my bosses, vs just being crash landed and trying to survive on a fricking planet.
It's fricking delicious. They made a GBC game that works on original hardware to promote it, too. Though, I'm sure you can make one at home that's better with vanilla ice cream and blueberry pie filling.
I remember dmstruggling ALOT in Pikmin 2 both in middle school and early highschool. Elsctric fences killed easy, the things that shoot rocks, the bosses were brutal; alot of shit. That one wasn't a toddler game, this one seems it though, Black personhomosexual moron
>Elsctric fences
You mean the completely immobile wall that was very obviously dangerous? Who the frick would die to that? It's not like the Anode Beetles which are just unpredictable enough to frick you up.
the locations are maybe too big. a lot of empty space in this terrace area though it seems like an extended tutorial. i hope there are 4 meaty sized areas that are not tutorial feeling in the final product.
Just completed the demo. Managed to find a bunch of castaways, and even got the Blue Onion. Was skeptical about the dog at first, but I warmed up to him.
Can't wait for the full game! Now I sleep.
i don't like when i want to throw pikmin at something and out cokes some dog who does the job slower cuz im not paying attention that hes next in like on the list.
but otherwise he is fine. that he comes back to you is great.
demo was neat, feels closer to 3 than 1 and 2 and I'm not a huge fan of 3. swapping between you and the dog as commander was not as nice and easy as it was in 2 so I didn't really bother with it which doesn't seem ideal for multitasking. also way too many fricking tutorials and story shit, just let me play the fricking game
Even 2 has horrible pacing at the start with constant interruptions, only pikmin that doesn't waste your time is 1. Dont understand how you can have a series go on this long and the first game still has the least amount of blatant issues.
So far I hate two things about the game. One is the camera, which I might get used to eventually, and the other is how hard the auto-lock is, holy frick.
The fact that the yellow and blue onions are optional and not tied to progression is very interesting.
Pikminbros... I've been a fan since the first one and all I wanted to do today after work was play the demo. Between this and the Pikmin 1 and 2 re-release it feels so fricking good to be a Pikmin fan again.
I feel bad for the lads who waited all day for this, but I'm sort of glad the demo didn't drop until after I got home from work. I didn't have to spoiler dodge all day.
I upgraded oatchi's bite to max level, and it unlocked ANOTHER bite called MEGA CHOMP which had 3 more levels including being able to 1 shot small enemies with one bite and being able to jump up and bite flying enemies
even if time passes at 1/6th speed, the fact it passes at all in caves is exactly what's needed to promote optimal play. so good job there.
its not as much of a issue if there's no long term time limit tied to the main objective. the day to day limit is what really matters. the focus on dandori shows that nintendo understands the core of the franchise so im not worried.
I really hope this isn't a reboot, but the intro-cinematic makes me believe it is.
Also, what's the deal with this game having so much more.. human-areas? In the first 3 games, most of what we saw of humanity was just, old objects, nothing like an entire house.
I mean this is the first time in the series that a man made location is one of the areas in the game, but Pikmin has had plenty of stuff like this even in 2. And 3s challenge mode had like a living room.
>Deleted Pikmin Bloom because it's boring as frick >Had to redownload it just to get the Oatchi suit >Will never touch it again because it's fricking boring
Rock Pikmin are immune to being crushed and can break glass and crystal. Purple Pikmin are so heavy they can stun most enemies (except ones that are "rooted" to the ground like Snagrets) and they have ten times the carrying power as the other Pikmin but are slow as shit when carrying things.
Supposedly, glow pikmin give you seeds which you can plant while in caves which turn into glow pikmin, which are functionally the same thing, as they are immune to all elements and are kind of better, because they have that cool charge attack
Supposedly, glow pikmin give you seeds which you can plant while in caves which turn into glow pikmin, which are functionally the same thing, as they are immune to all elements and are kind of better, because they have that cool charge attack
>Why would they show something you cannot do >Switch commercials show people of different races all playing one console without it getting stolen by one of them
this is a friendly reminder to Ganker that it's very easy to be saved from hell fire and get to heaven. watch this gospel video if you'd like to be 100% sure of going to heaven after you die.
just a heads up that, unless im missing something, if you dont finish industrial maze on your first visit you're softlocked out of completing it 100% because oatchi spawns with the pod on the entries afterwards
it was cool
i wish i realized you could use shortcuts sooner
the captain switching and dismissal is so much cleaner
idk why the frick it isn't bound by default but w/e
in general i think it's pretty fun but the controls and UI suuuck
Yes but that's the thing, once you collect 1500 points to unlock the next area, demo ends.
As long as you don't you should be able to play the demo for a long time.
I would be very surprised if you can't eventually have more than three types at once later in the game.
Seems everything from previous games is returning, including swarming and charging. Would be strange to force people only three types to what could possibly be the biggest Pikmin game.
Is the story about a time travel or a reboot?
I'm betting on a reboot.
anon will meme magic the time wraith into being.
Time wraith is real, screencap this
lol the monster has a name now. I want a Time Wraith anime girl. The Plasma Wraith was so assblasted that he morphed into a being that can see beyond time and space just to be with his loved pet.
I for one look forward to Pikmin Remake
Maybe it was a work of the time jannies.
If the Time Wraith is somehow real, I hope beating restores everything back to the way it was or breaks the potential "cycle"
temporal pikmin
Seems to be reboot to me
>Reboot
>still title it Pikmin 4
HMMMMM?
>reboot
>change genre
>still title it Final Fantasy 7 Remake
I mean, I don't believe it's a reboot but it wouldn't be the worst example of such a thing
Yes. It's also better for marketing purpose. There are a lot of examples of reboots/soft reboots out there that is marketed as sequels, like Resident Evil VII.
wasnt disagreeing or questioning either of you, just seems like more is afoot with this game than it lets on
Third for redditors and dog tags get the rope
Say it ain't so pikminbros...
is he drowning in a whirlpool of diarrhea?
Did anyone notice they recreated the same music from the Pikmin shorts when your fighting a bulborb? Pretty cool.
Hoping that for the new piklopedia it's not just that new guy and you also unlock Olimar's take on it
>20 pikmin limit
I HATE IT!
>bad ending timeline confirmed
Isn't Louie in this game?
enemies are harder in 4 than in 3. the blowhog throws latched dudes quicker than 3. the bulborb eats pikmin quicker than 3.
I can imagine that they've balanced the game in accordance to the new additions. I can also imagine that the Pikmin restrictions are meant to encourage recon and planning.
>accordance to the new additions
Oatchi is fricking overpowered.
You won't know until you see how hard the game can get.
Reposting from last thread. Didn't realize it hit bump limit somehow.
>Something tells me the original Pikmin 4 that was "close to completion" a decade ago
I hate to break it to you but that was Hey Pikmin.
No, there are indications that it was a completely separate project.
>there are indications that it was a completely separate project.
There's not a single one
>eurogamer net/miyamoto-pikmin-4-still-progressing
From mid-June 2017, just a month or so before Hey Pikmin was released.
Any amount of research into the topic shows that this wasn't the case. The game most likely just got Prime 4'd without an announcement and went into dev hell
why do Treehouse VAs always sound so fake compared to their Japanese varients? They dont even need to lipsync, yet its so obvious its a dub
If you love japan so much why don't you move there and then jump in front of a train after getting depressed from living there just like the rest of them
So it was Olimar? Interesting.
Carl Wheezer if he a Pikmin captain
DEMO ISN'T OUT SINCE NOBODY HAS POSTED A MEGA LINK YET
What are the odds that the intro is just worded/translated weird and instead of a new timeline this it's just a different adventure Olimar had sometime after Pikmin 3?
He has the Dolphin again, unless he just bought it back
Hey Pikmin implied he managed to get a new Dolphin so I don't see why not.
That sounds less crazy.
There's a render of Louie on the site (the japanese one I think?) and apparently it's a new model
Oh, okay. Thank god, I love that moron. I wonder if he'll still be the villain or what his deal is.
>inb4 Louie got Pikmin-ified like Olimar when he got left behind
>when he got left behind
3 Deluxe retconned this. He and Olimar get sent back by Shacho to retrieve the Hocotate Ship in a bonus set of missions.
>3 Deluxe retconned this
Aw what? That was what I was looking forward to most, plot-wise. At least he's going to show up at all, but for what purpose I can't imagine anymore.
Website literally has a new render similar to Olimar's
>corpses stay now
Nice
>The Pikminverse is real
L M A O
>that new enemy on level two of the cauldron
laughing my ass off
I got got
same, laughed so fricking hard when he still squished when his hp was zero
i had a vietnam style flashback to those fricking clams in 1 and knew what was up immediately.
Especially when it's supposedly dead, I will never forget swarming sheargrubs just to see 10+ 'min die to grubs that were dead as soon as I swarmed them
>The nose knows
The Hocotatian Question
Can you not turn off the auto aim shit? It made pikmin 3 deluxe so goddamn easy and now it seems to be mandatory
I LOVE THE UNREAL ENGINE
I LOVE PRE-MADE ASSETS
I LOVE REALISM
It really seems like 3 types is the max. A lot of things point to that in the guide
You can find a lot in the player guide, like how glow pikmin can be used in caves and are the new bulbmin
>like how glow pikmin can be used in caves
Real shit?
That's the main reward from night time, the abilty to get glow seeds to be used in caves and spawn in glow pikmin which are immune to everything
I can't tell if they can fly though
Man it astounds me how competent Olimar is With the dolphin compared to this rescue crew.
>managed to turn found treasure into usable items with both the dolphin and In pikmin two. >Understands how to use local resources and use them for further advancements
>does Bottany as a hobby and learned how various creatures work and their scientific family
Is everyone who isn't a hocotate Freight employee just incredibly incompetent?
The hocotate freight staffers are incompetent too, Olimar is the only employee of any merit, remember?
Hocotate must have a very robust education system
That's what I like about Olimar. Just a competent dude in an incompetent galaxy that ends up in unfortunate circumstances.
>The President walked into the wrong loan place
>The Koppains literally ate themself to death
>Rescue Core + More all crashed and went into stasis
Yeah
Olimar is basically the smartest person in the setting.
Remember that he's a
>engineer (designed the dolphin)
>biologist
>pilot/astronaut explorer
>botanist
>salaryman
>husband and father
Olimar can't even fly a ship, every game he crashes the ship at least once and in 3 the ship from 2 is so badly damaged and ruined he had to bum a ride from Alph and friends to get home.
Olimar is the only non moronic pikmin character besides maybe Alph
Is this like Pikmin 2 where there's unlimited days?
Yes, unlimited days
So it's Gamecube pointer with gyro only during hard lock-on? I don't mind it, but the soft lock-on is honestly kind of annoying. No way to disable it?
We Hubert out here
>they
nope no buy
>something that's been done for centuries
>2023 Gankerirgins losing their absolute homosexual minds over it because they can't stop worshiping trannies
And I thought you inbreds throwing tantrums over "double-spacing sentences was invented by our mortal enemy reddit!" was the most moronic thing I've ever seen.
You're not fooling anyone, Schlomo.
>nononono it's the demons and monsters trying to destroy my race, it has to be, nothing existed until now!
Your English sucks.
Looking forward to seeing more PikOCs
>The Rescue Corps' newest officer. A promising recruit who's accepted a dangerous mission to rescue colleagues that have gone missing.
Is that so hard to do?
It's all about indoctrinating the youth. They know what they're doing.
I'm gonna make Omar, he's just a brown olimar
lel
>They
Yeah, it's non-specific so they can be whatever you want. Common practice.
To those who have beaten the demo, what are your thoughts?
I like it well enough. I'm sure the game will be good
Nearly beaten it, I'm getting used to it and still have high hopes for the full game
Too much tutorial boxes, but it's the start of the game I'm sure it'll be less and less as the game goes on.
So far it feels like what I wanted Pikmkn 3 to be, and I like Pikmin 3 but I preferred 2d focus on exploration
20 ain't so bad. Now the 100 capacity upgrade on the other hand is insane.
Considering how I haven't even fought a boss yet, this is gonna be a big ass game.
give nsp
please
>YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO i-i-is that a heckin' chompy wompy gud boi galactic doggo?!?! he is bussin fr fr oh hahahaha are those little flower men? hahaahahah they remind me of my Piklikker dilator so I'll call them... le Pikmin XD on god
How's the music? Pikmin's always had a unique sound to it so I hope that's maintained here.
Sounds pretty good
pikmin 2 sounds and music are back in full force and redone
Green dog is named Moss
>Olimar because a savage Hocotatian Pikmin hybrid who becomes obsessed with making the castaways and crew members be hybrid just like him
Never thought Nintendo would let their main protagonist of a franchise because the antagonist
>you can unlock Swarming
HOLY SHIT
you better not be fricking with me Anon.
https://twitter.com/Rheycore/status/1674249283678392320
WE ARE SO BACK HOLY SHIT
2CHADS COME HOME
The cool thing is that charge is also an unlockable item, so you could technically just use swarming and never buy the charge upgrade.
HOLY SHIT.
Charging and Swarming together is truly the best timeline, wow. We are so back
Gentlemen, the soul has returned.
WE'RE SO BACK
Wait what the frick. I never played three, they took out the c-stick?
Yeah, 3 fricked up a lot like most wii u games.
Yes AND it didn't have a piklopedia
3 once again proving to be the weakest of the series...
>both royal bulblax and Man at legs back
All we now is bulbmin and this game is kino
My prediction from playing the demo is it'll land between 1 and 3 for me in terms of fun. 2 > 1 > 4 > 3
I feel like it might be better then 1. Maybe once we get to the next world.
I was originally going to get P4 digitally but this makes me want to get it on cart, because it doesn't seem as replayable as 1 or 2 and it's 10 gigs
is getting 1500 sparklium even possible in the demo? i see at least 2 caves that are inaccessible without oatchi jump
Got 1,400 something, definitely know how to get 1,500 because I got that amount before realizing you can switch the base mid day lol.
Demo is fun, kind of don’t like the dog still but whatever.
God, all we need is a mode without these limits and this might be the best one
Do you think Pikimar, being a prime pikmin male and leader, gets to mate with the finest selection of pikmin pussy the onion can produce
No, he just fricks the onion, he lies on his back, wiener out, and gets tractor-beam'd up to it
oh is that what the fireworks indicate?
That woman's voice is extremely annoying. Is there a Jap version with subs I can watch instead?
It's almost entirely just summary of the previous trailers.
Finished the demo, we're so fricking back bros. Gonna play the frick out of 4 on release day.
How long is it?
At least 2 days, maybe 3
Huh, seems ok to dive in. Thanks
i really dislike the way the game doesn't let you spam pikmin onto a task. it auto stop at the minimum needed, but the new feature where whistling pikmin in the middle of a task doesn't auto call them over will be a pain
How bad was that empty feeling of "Well now I have to wait for the actual game to come out" for you after finishing it?
also anons that played give me a rating of your initial impression on a 1-10 scale don't hold back if you're packing the autism juices tonight lay it on thick with your review i want to see paragraphs my Black folk but if you just want to reply with a number thats cool too
7/10 for initial score. i'm having fun when i actually get to play, but the tutorials are way too interruptive.. i would say Play the demo now since it says it carries over and you can get all the annoying Tutorial stuff out of the way.
>not starting over from the beginning when the game comes out and you know better routes/optimizations
ngmi, the game is about dandori
i already beat day one with several caves explored and zero deaths. plus i'm a captain in a strange new land. don't want to seem to experienced on my first run
>female olimar
WHISTLE WHISTLE WHISTLE
GET THROWN GET THROWN GET THROWN
The tutorials are annoying, but at least you can + spam to skip most of it.
To be fair he married a gold digger.
I don't think a gold digger would marry the space equivalent of a long haul trucker
you aren't able to switch to oatchi immediately, seems to require an upgrade. means waiting for pikmin to complete tasks which doesn't feel great. i want to multitask.
Fun game.
Does progress from the demo carry over to the full game?
Yes
Yes
no
maybe
i dont know
I guess?
can you repeat the question
Large, I want the full game NOW
Can I disable reticle snapping? Not a fan of it when you can already just lock on to enemies anyways.
I don't have my Switch on me. My brother took it with him for his trip and won't be back for another couple of weeks. How is the low camera angle? That's the thing that really worried me, going from an overhead camera to something more akin to an action game.
You get really good camera control, so it's not too noticeable. It may or may not still bother you.
You can pretty much control the camera to be whatever
That's reassuring. Thanks.
>people were actually worried that if you found pikmin underground you wouldn't be able to use if them if you were at the cap
You guys panic way too easily.
Wait, is that confirmed false?
Or hold on, do you mean number cap or type cap?
Number cap, but they make a point of saying rules are bent a bit in caves.
The type cap is also broken in caves.
Haven't gotten to play the demo yet. Can you use regular aiming/free aim like in pikmin 1/2? The snap lock on aiming is incredibly gay and I fricking hated it.
seems to be auto lock-on
Great, well that's gonna be a pirate from me. Auto snap is the worst fricking thing.
NOOOOO THE FRICKING THWOMP KILLED 6 OF MY LIKMIN UPON DEATH
Did they just forget about the design principles behind Pikmin or something? The game has always been kind of biologically/scientifically rooted, but now we have actual floating ghost Pikmin that just teleport around and become a ball of energy. They could have easily made some kind of bioluminescent slime-mould Pikmin and have them coalesce into a ball instead of magic ghost Pikmin. The "Sparklium" shit annoys me too, could have just needed juice from the fruit and specific parts from the tech lying around instead of gay mystical feel-good energy
pikmin become ghosts since the first game, secondary
Pikmin having a ghost effect when they die isn't the same thing as Glow Pikmin and you know it you little Black person
if you think glow pikmin are pushing it, how do you feel about the waterwraith? plasmwraith? honeywisps? jellyfloats and slurkers? pikmin literally turning into ghosts when they die? none of these make biological/scientific sense
>It's not minute-by-minute
Explain how it's not. In the video in the OP it literally rewinds one minute to avoid a rock that flattened him before.
Because I've played the actual demo and the video is meant to make you want to buy the product. The most it lets me do is restart a dungeon.
I'm guessing it saves after a major pikmin loss or something then.
It mentions "major loss" in the demo so you're likely absolutely right.
Are we feeling onions for every type at the moment?
>stone of advancement
>Caves
>Treasures
So if Pikmin 3 was Pikmin 1 2, is Pikmin 4 Pikmin 2 2?
pikmin 3 is pikmin 1: goyslop edition
pikmin 4 is pikmin 2: goyslop edition
do you understand now?
How is Pikmin 3 goyslop, did we play the same game?
Do you think people that say those moronic buzzwords play video games?
Truly it was my mistake to give people the benefit of the doubt.
pikmin 3 is pikmin 1: forced soul edition
pikmin 4 is pikmin 2: forced soul edition
do you get it NOW?
How is Pikmin 3 forced soul, did we play the same game?
Oooh, I see now! Thanks for clarifying!
>"Pikmin 3 is 1 but better"
>"Pikmin 4 is 2 but better"
Got be excited!
late game dandori battle will be fun.
Frick, I should not have played the demo. I'm already having withdrawal after finishing it.
Looks like it's time to play the first three again
Any future threads should have "Progress in the demo will carry over to the full game" in the OP
Any word on the NSP being posted yet? I can't get my Switch into vanilla mode to just download it.
do i need to play Pikman 1-3 in order to understand the story?
Nope. Pikmin 4 is unironically a timeline split off of Pikmin 1, and they explain the very basic plot of it in the first cutscene.
Did electricity kill pikmin in 3? It's not instakill in this game but it did kill them after 3 seconds of not whistling.
No, it was just a stun.
yes
demo CONFIRMS you can't take more than 3 types at a time and even has recommendations on which 3 types to take out at the onion
Sounds like it'll suggest what Pikmin you need depending on your landing spot
Sucks
Are you sure because some reviewers said the opposite
I think I just saw a loading screen tip that said you can have more than 3 pikmin types out but only in caves.
Makes sense. They don't want you missing out on any Wild Pikmin
Sticker set physical reward from my nintendo coming soon
HES IN
What the frick Iceborbs
>you have to transfer data over for special item
frick off why you do this to my autism you homosexuals I want to start fresh when the game comes out but also want the item reeee reeeee reeeeeeeeeeee what kind of item is it anyways reeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
>I want to start fresh when the game comes out
Just start playing right before release and treat it like you got the game a little early. That's always what I do when demos carry to the full game.
GIANTBREADBROS, WE FRICKING WON.
>Jellyfloats in the distance
PTSD flashbacks, god help us if the Water wraith comes back
Someone please be a chad and share the nsp for us emulator users and people with banned switches.
They did it they pulled it off
A great pikmin game finally
It was worth the weight
The game is piss easy, everything is so fast and sterile when it comes to combat, controlling your pikmin, etc... God I miss 1 and 2.
you may be back now pikmin bros but remember easy come, easy go. savor it while it lasts
Maybe it's a case of the rewind feature having canon implications? Or Pikmin 1 was an unreliable narration/based on ship logs with paltry detail?
game looks fine
kind of sad that they don't want to go back to the isolation of the first game though, that seems like a relatively rare thing in games recently
the isolation was only caused by hardware limitations
bot response.
pikmin 2 was on the same system though
Can't be too scary for alphy kiddies.
I suppose you're right, but I definitely liked finding them more than buying them. It added to the fun of collecting treasure.
this has to be the first time i've heard anyone complain about a basic upgrade, it's like someone complaining about motherfricking z-targeting or drop shadows.
Now imagine z-targeting without the Z, and every time you aim near anything it snaps to it and you have to fight it to get it off now, in a game where aiming matters a whole fricking lot.
Frick you moron.
>you have to fight it
The frick you do.
Holy shit have a nice day. Auto lock on is cancer, only braindead morons need to rely on that.
Now people are pretending pikmin was ever difficult
2 is the only one that has any semblance of difficulty which is why it gets a lot of love around here.
I would argue that 1 is more difficult than 2 because of all the jank. 2 is just really unbalanced. Most of the game is really easy, it's just there's spikes of bullshit the game throws at you.
the first two are to an extent but that's mostly due to how janky it is and the pikmin AI
Why do Switch games look worse than Wii U games despite the Switch being able to run Wii U games?
You're out of your mind if you think this game looks worse than 3. This is probably the best looking game on the Switch. 3 was way more muddier.
Are you playing it in handheld mode?
focus on "better"/higher resolution graphics rather than solid framerates. happens with every console. compare the early ps3 and Xbox 360 games to the late gen ones.
>Why do Switch games look worse than Wii U games
They don't?
>repurposed the cave entrances from 2 to be wind elevators
My god that is extremely gay. The choice of taking a geyser or keep going was a great mechanic. Why are kids treated as literally fricking morons these days?
In fairness, people literally die at Yellowstone and shit for walking into Geysers
Those people deserved to be removed from the genepool for being moronic.
My only complaints thus far are
>your footsteps are really fricking loud
>you can't send your pikmin to charge while riding oatchi
>You can only control between (You) and Oatchi
Maybe at Control level 3 since Oatchi can gather pikmin for you he'll just become 2nd Louie
I wanna give Pikmin a second chance. Are the switch remasters for 1 and 2 good or do I emulate the gamecube version?
They're pretty good ports in my opinion, though Pikmin 2's treasures all looked weird now because the branding is gone.
the remasters are censored so just emulate
What? What is censored?
some "problematic" item names
This too
It's a literal chess joke, why the frick would they change it? It had nothing to do with men or women, jesus.
Peculiar, the original text was referring to Olimar's own mother and father. I wonder if they're just retconning those two?
What does the JP version say, then?
IIRC there were some licensed items removed?
Some jokes implying men are the providers in a marriage while the women just spend, some emails parodying catfishing lonely men, and the removal of all non-Nintendo product placement.
all the jokes and any mention of gender
They fixed the botched NoA translations it other than that because the brand deals ran out ages ago they had to retexture anything that isn't a Nintendo product so a duracell battery is just video game brand generic battery now
Stop lying.
That's correct though.
why are these threads always filled with people lying to cover up for woke nintendo?
What?
these people are trying to pretend that they didn't censor jokes from the original japanese release considered problematic by noa
>They fixed the botched NoA translations it other than that because
Product placement removed from treasures, some descriptions where changed for basically no reason, and also it uses the EU changes (Wollyhop instead of Wollywog, weed leaf recolored to not be weed anymore)
Emulate. The remasters are fricking shit due to rebranding treasures and pozzed translation.
emulate do not pay 50 dollars for a pair of roms you would have to be insane to do that
Yeah, the Switch versions work perfectly fine.
>"Muh Duracell Battery!"
Do you frickin' really?
>Do you frickin' really?
Yes. It's soulless.
>BUT I LIKE SEEING SOMETHING AND SAYING "I KNOW THAT PRODUCT! I KNOW WHAT THAT IS!!!"
Correct. You have never played the games as a kid. You will always be a secondary.
No need to be toxic about it. It's not feasible for Nintendo to actually get all the licenses back nowadays.
>It's not feasible for Nintendo to actually get all the licenses back nowadays.
And that's why it will always be an inferior version, just like all """remasters""".
we dont use that word here
we say "no need to be a Black person about it"
>No need to be toxic
Go back
You should be fine, you ARE White, right?
exceedingly meaty demo
>He didn’t avoid collecting treasure so he could play every cave in the first area
Lmao
>he intentionally crippled himself so he could have moderately more fun now instead of shitloads more fun later
shiggy
Dunno if someone posted this but he’s in.
of course
I actually lost pikmin in this demo which is something that's super hard to do in 3 so at the very least it'll probably be harder than that game.
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience, seems like the enemy variety is back to Pikmin 2 levels too. This might become my favorite in the series.
GIANT BREADBUG RETURNS IN A SCREENSHOT OF THE GAME AFTER YOU COMPLETE THE DEMO
ALSO ICE BULBORBS THAT LOOK LIKE SNOWY ONES FROM 2
Hoping an update comes out to disable reticle snapping. Really not a fan of it.
Am I crazy or was there a screenshot of a radiation bar, like it had the radioactivity symbol and a segmented bar meter. Has that had any explanation yet?
It was a meme of a screenshot, edited the treasure meter to have radiation over it.
I see, thank you for clarifying
>Just the usual type 1 type 2
You are a clear example of a frog being brought to a slow boil.
Chances of water wraith being back?
Since every other boss seems to be coming back, it just might.
Though I'm wondering where the new bosses are, if there are any
We've seen some, the scorpion fella, the frosmoth and the disco long legs
Very low, the Wraith has been evolving game after game, it's probably going to be some sort of weird wraith now.
Post little things you like/ noticed about the demo, for me its
>When you spam or charge, you send EXACTLY as many pikmin as needed
It was like this in 3 deluxe too, it’s a good feature.
I like how you can change the camera to be top-down like the original games. Idle pikmin becoming active once you go near them (as opposed to having to physically bump into them) when they’re waiting at a base is good too.
Favorite thing has to be the quick-menu-thing on the D-pad. custom button mapping is very useful. Overall a lot of QoL changes since pik3
Really liked how changing bases immediately changes the Pikmin pathing.
wouldn't it be fricked up if we couldn't revert what olimar is doing to the castaways?
dingo is into shepherd
NSP WHERE
Just tell me there's a chance to increase the Pikmin types limit
No one knows because this is only a small chunk of the game
no, the game even gives you a suggestion on which 3 to take out from the onion
That could easily increase to four suggestions if you upgraded it. I hope.
Also gameplay guide confirms challenge mode, they're called Dandori Challanges in this game medals go all the way to platinum.
The ID cards of the pikmin people say their home planet is PNF-404
I'm gonna play as the default girl, she's cute
does she have a name?
So, how do you feel about the captain?
Is the piklopedia accessible in the demo? Don't have a switch to see for myself
No, only the Treasure Log, likely tied to a castaway you need to rescue first.
>Charlie
>Shepherd
Is Olimar the only captain actually worthy of the title? Charlie at least contributes, but Shepherd really seems like a classic case of nepotism.
what's the full list of gear shown by the gameplay tips
In the full game, they seriously need to move the charge ability over to the initial set of upgrades you can buy. Being stuck with only throwing for so long is a real drag.
I got it at the start of the 2nd day, though Swarming should also be unlocked earlier than it seems to be
Maybe it comes at a certain amount of sparklium collected? I avoided treasures like the plague for a while because I didn't want the demo ending prematurely.
Game is too fricking easy now.
So sick of Nintendo casualizing everything to hell and back.
1. pikmin has always been easy
2. when the game releases there might be more difficulty options
3. it's the first section of the game. it might get harder at the end
If it was always easy, then why did they make it even easier?
>pikmin has always been easy
The 3 games have wildly different difficulties. You could call them all easy, but it's three very different versions of "easy"
>Pikmin has always been easy
Pikmin 2 says hello.
Purple Pikmin say hello
Purple Pikmin can't save your from Bomb Rock Traps.
and Gatling Groinks exist.
Bomb rock traps are not difficult to avoid once you've gotten a good hand of the game. Groinks are bad, sure, but that's what Bitter Spray is for.
2 isn't hard unless you think kaizo bomb rocks adds to difficulty
How can you possibly know this yet? The only challenging pikmin was 2 and it only got hard in the late game. This is just the tutorial essentially.
Is promo Captain the default customizer design? I'd probably just play with her, frankly.
she is.
Thanks for the info, anon. Does she have a default name as well?
the name is based on your profile, the name she had in the trailers was Lisa though.
Hmm, interesting. Thanks again for the info!
Any chances on Piklopedia datamines?
Is anyone even going to bother datamining this demo?
>Only one (1) playable captain
>Castaways look moronic and unmemorable
>More than likely they'll just huddle around your ship instead of providing dialogue and unique end-of-day mission logs
WHERE DID THE SOVL GO
Oatchi is the 2nd captain, he can be controlled seperately and order Pikmin just like you can. Crew Members talk at the end of the day like the logs.
The demo is free, atleast play it before you start shitposting.
is it good bros?
Yes.
Is it even possible to get the blue onion back or do you need a bigger pikmin limit?
I did it with 30 Ice, 10 Red, and Oatchi with level 3 Strength.
What? How? Oatchi can't climb up to help.
>There are people who playing the demo right now and are at two hours with only 500 sparklium, the same length it took me to beat the demo and explore 50% of the map
Is it just me, or do casuals really suck at Pikmin?
Yeah im thinking I fricking won
Characters look like shit but it was fun.
Yeah, they talk too much but the actual game is good
https://twitter.com/haylsho/status/1674277619922075648
2 GODS WE ARE SO BACK
I wonder if they sing any other songs in other areas
Sex with the default rescue corps member
Do you think 4 will be the longest pikmin game? Don't know if I want to drop 60 for another 8-10 hour adventure (though the games are very fun)
I mean this demo alone is probably twice as long as Pikmkin 1.
Probably.
Yes
It will at least match Pikmin 2. I was actually surprised when I finished the demo and realized I'd spent the last ~2 hours playing and had only just 50% the first area.
it will be equal or longer to pikmin 2.
anyone know how to get blues in the demo? they're across the water but doggy paddle doesn't seem available.
freeze water with ice pikmin. You need 30 though.
oh, you can get 30? ill replay and try for it tomorrow.
I had 30 by the end of the demo but by the time I realized I had enough it was on the countdown for my final day.
I don't think you can. You can only get up to 40 piks out, you need 30 ice piks to get across, and then 20 piks to carry the onion.
They been making this shit for like a decade it better not be 7 hours long
I mean Pikmin 3 was also pretty short
>latest comic has the player using more than three types at a time
I'LL KILL YOU
Are all of the Pikmin types back?
Yes, but sadly, contrary to what the comic shows, you can only have three types out in the field at the same time
Eh, that's not a bad thing, strategy and planning seems to be an important part of the game.
Being unable to have more than three types out sucks, reduces the possible strategis and caves layouts
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO DOWNLOAD THE DEMO
I kind of hate how this game plays, alot. For a game where you actions and time management matter, the lock on and the "call hit stun" constantly getting in the way of me to do anything, along with all the constant reminders and shitty dialogues.
It feels like im at work, this game feels like im working and i hate my bosses, vs just being crash landed and trying to survive on a fricking planet.
>appraiser israelite is named "shnauz"
How the frick did they get away with it
Why is there such a delay in the y button menu
The one in 3DX was very fast
Holy shit you found Grimace.
is the grimace shake actually that bad?
It's not bad, zoomers just like absurdist humor.
It tastes like Booberry specifically to me, though a friend of mine compared it to Froot Loops/fruity cereal in general.
It's fricking delicious. They made a GBC game that works on original hardware to promote it, too. Though, I'm sure you can make one at home that's better with vanilla ice cream and blueberry pie filling.
you have a screenshot button guy.
You can also do a dandori battle where olimar TFS one of those dudes in front of you
why do you homosexuals cry so much about your fricking toddler game being casualized
Highly doubt it's longer than 2 with caves being actually hand-designed instead of RNG. Still looks to be a nice length though.
HOW LONG DEMO TAKE TO DOWNLOAD??
the locations are maybe too big. a lot of empty space in this terrace area though it seems like an extended tutorial. i hope there are 4 meaty sized areas that are not tutorial feeling in the final product.
I hate bland make your own character stuff REEEEE
Dandori…
I need furry chubby art of the hot default character pikified...
Just completed the demo. Managed to find a bunch of castaways, and even got the Blue Onion. Was skeptical about the dog at first, but I warmed up to him.
Can't wait for the full game! Now I sleep.
Is the Snagret in the demo and does it play the Pikmin 2 boss theme when you fight it?
No but the 2 boss theme DOES play in the Olimar prologue
Pikmin 2 boss theme is in the first 5 minutes of the game, anon
>Post YFW you though oatchi was going to be cringe but he was actually based the whole time
I honestly ended up like Oatchi more than I anticipated. At least once you get the mounting ability anyway
i don't like when i want to throw pikmin at something and out cokes some dog who does the job slower cuz im not paying attention that hes next in like on the list.
but otherwise he is fine. that he comes back to you is great.
Mounting ability feels just a little clunky when you just want to get off of him, but maybe that’s because I’m not used to the controls yet.
Otherwise he’s better than I initially thought. It’s cute how he can whistle with his ears.
Once I realized he's the fricking second captain I immediately loved him.
how long is the demo and is it fun?
t. person who has never played pikmin
it's maybe a couple hours if you take it slow, i enjoyed it, but it's incredibly easy so far.
demo was neat, feels closer to 3 than 1 and 2 and I'm not a huge fan of 3. swapping between you and the dog as commander was not as nice and easy as it was in 2 so I didn't really bother with it which doesn't seem ideal for multitasking. also way too many fricking tutorials and story shit, just let me play the fricking game
Even 2 has horrible pacing at the start with constant interruptions, only pikmin that doesn't waste your time is 1. Dont understand how you can have a series go on this long and the first game still has the least amount of blatant issues.
>swapping between you and the dog as commander was not as nice and easy as it was in 2
Put it as a shortcut
what does setting control scheme to quick change
So what exactly are the Pikmin in the Dandori game?
So far I hate two things about the game. One is the camera, which I might get used to eventually, and the other is how hard the auto-lock is, holy frick.
The fact that the yellow and blue onions are optional and not tied to progression is very interesting.
You can just zoom the camera out.
>tfw you hear the pikmin 2 boss theme again
Feels too soft this time, the original rendition is still the best.
Wait can you really not select a gender in the game? Does the game always refer you to as if your sex is unknown?
>no blonde white chad
Kino…
I thought he'd be OP and obnoxious to use, but he's really not.
why is there a video showing how to defeat the boss, and why do npcs never shut up about moving the camera? literal baby game
If you go back into the same caves can you get more of the same Pikmin? Need a lot of Ice ones to freeze the lake.
I don't know about that, but if you do all the caves in the map, you'll have more than enough ice pikmin.
yes. i accidentally forgot a treasure in the yellow pikmin cave and there were more on the second run through
The first cave with the ice pikmin replenishes the 5 that were fighting the frosty blowhog on subsequent entries.
Where is the piklopedia?
You need to rescue the animal enthusiast castaway, top leftmost dungeon
i read that as animal euthanasiaist
Isn't that was your character is?
I never did play through pikmin 1.
Maybe ill do that while I wait
even if time passes at 1/6th speed, the fact it passes at all in caves is exactly what's needed to promote optimal play. so good job there.
its not as much of a issue if there's no long term time limit tied to the main objective. the day to day limit is what really matters. the focus on dandori shows that nintendo understands the core of the franchise so im not worried.
>Start demo
>Hate Oatchi
>Progress through it
>He's not that bad and I kind of want to upgrade him
One streamer has a collar for Oatchi but the demo keeps kicking me out. Is there a trick to keep going?
You can explore your base camp for the next day but that's it.
I've heard that collecting treasures for sparklium is what limits the demo, and you can play as many days as you want if you don't do that
that's what it seems like.
You can't redo days like in previous games, though, can you?
So I have to just do anything except collect treasures
I really hope this isn't a reboot, but the intro-cinematic makes me believe it is.
Also, what's the deal with this game having so much more.. human-areas? In the first 3 games, most of what we saw of humanity was just, old objects, nothing like an entire house.
I mean this is the first time in the series that a man made location is one of the areas in the game, but Pikmin has had plenty of stuff like this even in 2. And 3s challenge mode had like a living room.
I dunno it fills the chibi robo void in my heart.
I don't know if doing a sequel to a different ending from a previous game necessarily counts as a reboot.
I hope that's what it is, it'd be really cool, but I doubt they'd do that.
>Deleted Pikmin Bloom because it's boring as frick
>Had to redownload it just to get the Oatchi suit
>Will never touch it again because it's fricking boring
Collin says that all pikmin types might have an onion so ice pikmin probably have one later in the game
What exactly distinguishes purple and rock pikmin? Haven't played 3.
they're entirely different pikmin types? why specifically compare them to purples
They're completely different. Rocks can't be crushed and cannot latch onto enemies. Purples can stun enemies and carry 10.
Rock Pikmin are immune to being crushed and can break glass and crystal. Purple Pikmin are so heavy they can stun most enemies (except ones that are "rooted" to the ground like Snagrets) and they have ten times the carrying power as the other Pikmin but are slow as shit when carrying things.
shame they nerfed rocks and they can be crushed now
>YFW Dandori Lvl 5
>olimar starts with 100 pikmin.
>you just get base stat oatchi
Can you get blues in the demo?
Okay, but can they add swarming back to the 1+2 Switch release?
Swarming is in those anon
Oh goodie, guess I'll buy it then.
Don't you hold one of the shoulder buttons and move the right analog stick?
They never left. They need to fix the motion controls.
me patiently waiting for literally anyone on earth to upload the demo nsp
are Bulbmin back?
Glow pikmin can be used in caves and are immune to all hazards so probably not
Cool, but also bummer.
Supposedly, glow pikmin give you seeds which you can plant while in caves which turn into glow pikmin, which are functionally the same thing, as they are immune to all elements and are kind of better, because they have that cool charge attack
Can you choose what planet your character is from? I want to make mine brown and from Koppai, making him Black Koppaite
No
Nope.
>No planet
>No gender
>No custom height
>No cuts
>No buts
>No coconuts
At least you can chose the color of the ship/crew/lights with the colors of your character
Type limit is upgradable Bros
We are safe
Source?
New comic dropped with player using four types and I saw a render on the eshop with Oatchi carrying ice, Red, blue and yellow
Why would they show something you cannot do
>Why would they show something you cannot do
>Switch commercials show people of different races all playing one console without it getting stolen by one of them
Were they in a cave in the photo? The limits don’t apply in caves.
People would have been pointing that out hours ago if it were true
At work, does it run at 60fps this time?
no.
What the frick.
this is a friendly reminder to Ganker that it's very easy to be saved from hell fire and get to heaven. watch this gospel video if you'd like to be 100% sure of going to heaven after you die.
thanks tbh girl, very cool
my pleasure
just a heads up that, unless im missing something, if you dont finish industrial maze on your first visit you're softlocked out of completing it 100% because oatchi spawns with the pod on the entries afterwards
Why would you be softlocked? He can dash through conveyors going in the wrong direction. There's a loading screen tip for it.
oh can he? i guess i never saw that tip, thanks
They unnerfed wollywogs from 2 and 3, they can kill 30+ pikmin again.
be honest
how many times did you rewind
Zero. Same number as my Pikmin deaths.
None. It isn't what people keep thinking it is.
Isn't it just a reload from checkpoint?
you didn't beat the game
It's not really a rewind it's more like resetting In pikmin 2 but it's avaliable in the menu
it was cool
i wish i realized you could use shortcuts sooner
the captain switching and dismissal is so much cleaner
idk why the frick it isn't bound by default but w/e
in general i think it's pretty fun but the controls and UI suuuck
>but the controls and UI suuuck
You unlock better/more controls which is weird
yeah like the charge and camera
feels like they made a currency system and then didn't know what to put in it
How do you get more upgrade points for Oatchi?
Rescue castaways. Each gives an upgrade point.
good boy points?
still waiting for the nsp
What if I avoid collecting treasures
Can I play for as long as I don't collect 1500 points ?
Yes actually.
Don't you need points to unlock more areas?
Yes but that's the thing, once you collect 1500 points to unlock the next area, demo ends.
As long as you don't you should be able to play the demo for a long time.
Fair
yeah
dandori my ass
oachi is a girl?
No, Oatchi is a boy.
But the green dog, Moss, is a girl.
I would be very surprised if you can't eventually have more than three types at once later in the game.
Seems everything from previous games is returning, including swarming and charging. Would be strange to force people only three types to what could possibly be the biggest Pikmin game.
>He didn’t name his MC after a breed of dog
>you can close the game boy advance in the treasure catalog
Guys this might be the GOTY
I do not like the dog
I hope there's a fair/carnival-inspired level where I can throw Rock Pikmin through a wooden clown's teeth
Not a big fan of caves telling you which types to take. Kinda ruins the surprise
uh bro?
You mean like the caves in 2 told you which hazards you were going to face and you took at least one White and a shitton of Purple no matter what?
They always did that
Replay the game, you'll have a surprise.
