disgusting
really don't know what squeenix was expecting from such a small install base
I would say that you couldn't have expected them to have foreseen just how shaky the PS5 would be for software sales since this game was planned out well before the PS5's reveal... but then I remember that, somehow, pretty much every other third-party dev figured out right away that PS5 exclusivity this gen would be a fricking death sentence.
They thought Final Fantasy was still the biggest hottest IP in the world and haven't really the brand has been washed up for ages by now and is just a shadow of it's former self
They obviously realize to some extent which is why Yoshi P kept saying in interviews he wants to reinvent the franchise while still keeping it "Final Fantasy". Problem is a DmC-lite with atrocious GoT writing is not it. It says something when half the streamers you pay to play your game ended up dropping it.
It's weird that of all the shit FF14-man did, he didn't think to maybe build a game around the classic Final Fantasy job system, like fricking FF14.
It's not that people are going to even be averse to turn-based or active menu combat, e.g. FF12, how most MMOs work, or the Xenoblade franchise.
He made a game with a bunch of cutscenes and interspersed with hallways where you murder things. That's literally just every AAA game that isn't a fricking FPS.
Final Fantasy could coast on cutscenes back during the PS1 because when you just had simple in-game models and prerendered backgrounds you could waste time and space on FMVs. But by gen 6, every genre could do what JRPGs could do in terms of presentation, whether you were an FPS like Call of Duty or an action game like Resident Evil 4 or Grand Theft Auto 3-SA or an open world RPG like Morrowind.
Just being a fancy movie isn't going to hack it in 2023 when people can get their movie fix anywhere, and it's not a coincidence that other JRPGs figured out that the way to go was being an interesting RPG first and foremost, whether you're Dragon Quest or SMT or some low budget shit or fricking Pokemon, simultaneously Nipjank and the biggest IP on the planet.
There more PS5 then there was ps4 when ff15 released
There more bicycles in my garage then there are stars in the universe
Reminder:
VII, X and XIII's (ps3) install base was smaller than XVI's was.
There is no excuse. XVI is just forgettable
13 was over a decade ago man, video gaming wasn't nearly as popular as it is now
shhhh, no amount of sense will dissuade them from their shitposting
or trying to conflate sales with popularity, when some of the most generally thought of to be popular games sold like crap like, you know, the gamecube and every game on it
FF used to be a system seller. Look at how much the Switch sales surged with the new Zelda release.
Sauce
PS5 has sold 40 mil globally. Stop treating it like its the fricking Wii U.
True, the wii u actually had games.
>When FF13 was released, there were only 3m PS3 sold in Japan. It sold 1.5m during its launch.
>When FF16 was released, there were almost 4m PS5 sold in Japan. It sold 337k during its launch.
Yeah, sure. It's totally the console availability that is the problem.
WHAT'S WRONG LITTLE FELLA?
DANDORI ISSUE?
Final Fantasy XVI has sold >3 million (probably closer to 4 now).
*shipped
*slopped
>(probably closer to 4 now).
nah still closer to 3 millions
imagine still not shipping 5 millions after one month lmao
anime LOST to him
Step aside JRPG kiddies
>Fire Emblem and Xenoblade suddenly take a bit less precedence next gen in favor of Nintendo trying to revive less "anime-y" franchises since it worked out so well for Pikmin and the new Splatoon
I'm looking forward to the RPGweeb tears.
>Oatchi, Olimar/Alph and whatever 3rd Party Shill rep become the new top-tier in Smash 6
I can already see Oatchi's rush being just as broken in Smash as it is in 4.
it's gonna be Rookie with Oatchi rather than Pikmin following around, but Pikmin will still appear
Will they though? How do you cram Oatchi’s AND the Pikmin’s functions into one moveset?
I would like that if it did lead to Nintendo focusing more on their lesser series but honestly, it might just mean Nintendo doubling down on making more Mario games—still a nice bright picture for you Pikmin fans.
how is this related to mario
also pikmin is one of those "Miyamoto projects" that can live on regardless of sales
it sold more than all of the opening weeks combined
Especially after Engayge flopped. Imagine getting BTFO by a game you outsourced.
It didn't flop
>vastly underperforming your predecessor
>About to perform worse than Fates
>3rd worst selling Nintendo exclusive this year
Sounds like a flop to me
>vastly
>Both XB3 and FE:Engage sold alot less than the previous XB2 and Three houses
Nature....is healing. That said i liked Engage with the correct patches.
So Nintendo is going to ban Monolith and IS from making their own games?
Nintendo might just hand the reigns of Fire Emblem to KT, that are have Houses ported to their next console.
>That or have Houses ported
>Monolith goes full “REEEEE, reproduce you fricking weebs!”
>Outdone by Nintendo’s OG family man since ‘01
Monolith
>LOOK LOOK WE KNOW YOU HATED REX FOR BEING A homosexual GENERIC SHONEN MC BUT LOOK WE MADE HIM A GIGA CHAD WITH THREE WOMEN LIKE THE MEMES! HE HAS LOTS OF SEX WITH THE HOT BIG BOOB WOMEN ISNT HE COOL OH GOD PLEASE THINK HE'S COOL
Nintendo
>Haha working class family man who is happy married to his beloved wife go BRRRRRR
I fricking love it when weeb trash gets btfo by pure traditional wholesomeness
>I fricking love it when weeb trash gets btfo by pure traditional wholesomeness
You do not know the depths of degeneracy of Olimar fangirls.
Generic anime protags are the kinds of characters guys want to self-insert as, but characters like Olimar are what guys aspire to be.
Nobody is going to make threads about how they want to frick Olimar's wife, but they will talk about how they want to be an explorer scientist like Olimar.
Looking through Olimars descriptions of the treasures in 4 and seeing how much he thinks about his wife and family is really cute
Did we ever get to see olimar's wife?
Yeah. Pikmin 2 during the emails at the end of the day. We also see his daughter and son.
Yeah, the president is plowing her pussy.
Olimar is the Nintendo version of O' Brien and that's why I love him.
Really just make him a couple feet tall and he's basically Starfleet captain material.
Monolithsoft is owned by nintendo anon
Three Houses just recently pushed over to 4 million sales, probably because of Engage spill over, so I doubt that'll happen. Xenoblade will never take a step back unless it starts absolutely flopping, like sub-1 mil sales, because they won't want to start bad blood with the company that helps develop like half of their big games.
>Three Houses just recently pushed over to 4 million sales
There is no evidence of this that I've found.
>tfw I'm not a tribal gay and enjoy both Nintendo's anime-esque franchises and their more neglected franchises.
I win, everyone else loses.
Im a tribalgay but I buy everything with NIintendo on the front cover
I'm a tribalgay and bang my war drums for Nintendo in console war threads but I pirate all of the Switches releases
scrimblogays deserve the rope
You gotta get off your ass and catch ‘em first, weeb.
Xenoblade will probably be re-launched as a new series with similar mechanics. I still think having it in another realm/setting would be cool.
Less techpunk, more knights/armor shit and then they can eat up that Fire Emblem audience.
The next FE and xenoblade are literally in development right now dumbass, pikmin probably won't get a new game for another 8 years
>Using Kino7 to put an ill omen towards Pikmin
Yep they're lazy yearly rehashes that have been trending downwards in sales.
Pikmin, like most A-list Nintendo franchises, will take it's time and continue to sell easily 10 million copies
>Pikmin, like most A-list Nintendo
I love Pikmin but it's Miyamoto's special boy with the rainbow colored coat that would've been abandoned in the Gamecube era along with Chibi Robo if it weren't for Miyamoto.
Hopefully 4 will change that but it remains to be seen.
Nintendo's "A-list" doesn't take a decade between releases
Odyssey took 8 years. 3D Mario much more high priority than Pikmin so 10 years for Pikmin seems right. FE needs to be yearly slop since it basically functions as an ad for their mobile game.
meant for
>FE
>Yearly
Even small gaps tend to be about 2 years at least (except for GBA, which reused assets a lot). 3-4 years between games is not uncommon.
3-4 years between the main games maybe but they've been pumping out remakes and spinoffs to keep the IP relevant. It's been more like 1 1/2 to 2 years between releases now. There'd be more if Nintendo could have their way I'm sure.
yeah dude one musou spinoff during the longest drought between mainline games in the series history of 30 years is really 'pumping them out' and 'yearly slop'
There are like 5 spin-offs at most in the series.
The 1st of them is a fricking Satellaview game.
The second one is mostly Atlus.
The 3rd one is a gatcha, so it's not get another release.
And the last two are fricking Musou games.
And I was counting remakes in that 2-4 years being the standart mainline release gap.
The gap between 3h and engage is 3 years, meanwhile pokemon released 2 games in a single year why b***h about fire emblem specifically.
I don't understand how FE releases at a much slow rate now than it did before it became popular and people still find a way to seethe endlessly about it.
It being advertised pisses them off far more.
Why are you guys malding so much when you’re getting more games than fans of other franchises? I don’t think even AC gets as many games
I'm just kinda pointing out that it seems weird to complain about FE release periods when it was always releasing at those speeds.
And it's not like Pokemon where the release schedule is starting to cause quality issues.
Ironic considering pikmin is given more exposure than any other nintendo series relative to its success
>odyssey took 8 years
uh no it didn't, 4 years with 3D world
>FE needs to be yearly slop since it basically functions
sells more than pikmin
3D world isn't a 3D Mario platformer like Odyssey or Galaxy. It's a multiplayer platformer in the same vein as NSMB but with isometric maps instead of 2d ones. It's a part of the Mario "World" series.
>Sells more than Pikman
Not Engage. Pikmin 3 re-release outsold it. Pikmin 1+2 will likely outsell it.
>3D world isn't a 3D Mario platformer
wrong
You just proved him right though? 3D land/world are just 2d games in a 3d environment, or whatever moniker they gave them officially
the guy I responded to considered galaxy 2 a 3D mario with his original 8 year gap between production, so either galaxy isn't a 3D mario or 3D world is
Galaxy plays differently from odyssey
Galaxy plays more closely to Odyssey than than the 3D land/world games. The latter plays like the sides rollers but with an isometric map while the former is about finding the collectable within a map.
Top and bottom are literally just course clear vs sandbox style games moron. Even then Galaxy is closer to a 3D Mario like 64
It's a fixed camera isometric platformer. Plays completely differently than Odyssey or even Galaxy
FE/xenoblade's release schedules fit Nintendo's A-list games more than pikmin does
I wouldn't even be mad but
>Monolith and IS basically pump games out for free but this is still somehow Nintendo's fault
I never understood morons like you.
You forgot the weird smash hit that was Luigi's Mansion 3.
It sold more than even TotK.
>>Fire Emblem and Xenoblade suddenly take a bit less precedence
Those games keep selling so that's not how it works. And they just tested that they can sell a game where the main character looks like toothpaste with fans still taking it seriously
Those series have their own bespoke dev teams. At most, we’ll get more Paper Mario from IS and Monolith will be more support focused. God, you frickers who think Nintendo is one amorphous blob of devs are stupid.
why are cubies so upset by the existence of anime
Hallelujah. Frick Fire Emblem and Xenoblade.
You do know Fire Emblem and Xenoblade have their own dev teams.
It's not their fault Nintendo doesn't have time for Star Fox/DK/F-Zero
Bing bing wahoo nintendo gays will never understand this
>Miyamoto killed star fox
>DK don't have Rare anymore and retro is making Metroid Prime 4
>Mario Kart gameplay is the same as f-zero in Nintendo's mind so they don't feel like making another one.
All the RPG IPs are in third party/second party hands and monolith is just that good that can help and make their own games at same time.
>monolith is just that good
Apparently not good enough to stick the landing on Xenoblade 3’s story, which was somehow worse than X’s non-story.
Nintendo hasn't developed an f-zero, or star fox game in house since the n64, the reason why those franchises are dead is because they don't have any developers working on them same for donkey kong now that prime 4 is in dev hell. Nintendogays really need to figure out how multiple dev teams work already.
what drives a man to seethe this hard specifically for XC and Engage?
Rosterhomosexualry of the 'video game oscars variety'
Or a somebody who can't accept a Japanese company is Japanese.
he's one of the morons that think everything Nintendo publishes is the amorphous blob of "Nintendo" and now Nintendo is going to kick down the door of Monolithsoft, chain everyone to their desks and force them to make a followup to the gamecube game he played as a kid.
Aside form Kid Icarus, Wave Racers and FZero, what does Nintendo have that would fit your bill?
>Kid Icarus and F-Zero
Both of those are anime through?
maybe 90s anime but not modern anime.
modern anime don't have buff guys like Captain Falcon or Greek Designs like Kid Icarus.
It's all just about basic girly boys and flat girls
>flat girls
Nice.
I'm convinced that just a decently budgeted adaptation of Berserk that plays it totally straight and doesn't devolve into CGI trash like 2016/Golden age trilogy or fanfiction plot deviations like '97 (it was still kino) would tremendously shake up the anime industry for absolutely BTFO'ing everything else on the market with a hypermasculine yet deep character like Guts as the protag
There's plenty of buff guys in anime.
>Greek Designs like Kid Icarus
Dude, have you looked at Uprising?
Kid Icarus Uprising is "Japanese Humor, the Game"
Kid Icarus is but F-Zero is basically a satire/homage of American and European comic books in terms of designs. Captain Falcon himself is based on Judge Dredd.
The only version of Captain Falcon anyone cares about is more of a Toku parody.
They are anime in the same way street fighter and old zelda are anime, as in they have japanese designs but thats it.
Only if star fox comes back
Zelda and Street Fighter are both very anime.
JRPGs are a lot less accessible than games literally designed for pick up and play in short bursts, more at 11
Please god do some research for once in your life. Please it's just one click away.
>according to this chart Pikmin and 2D mario games are made by the same people
>yet Wonder is releasing just a few months after 4
Doesn't add up.
Maybe Wonder was handed to a different division.
Good riddance.
I never was against existence of FE and Xenoblade, but then Nintendo went out of their way to make everything after FE Awakening and Xenoblade 1, extremely and ridiculously weebshit garbage with all the anime tropes you can think of.
is this the fabled "MY nintendo would never be weebshit" person I've heard about so much in these threads?
buddy fire emblem (especially pre awakening and including xbc1) is filled to the gills with anime tropes
noooooooo those don't count because old anime is epicly based and i was 12 years old
This is some weird fricking logic, fire emblem has been around since the nes and has continued to sell well enough to exist it isn't going anywhere because pikmin sold well. We might not get another xenoblade game but I'm sure monolith will continue to make rpgs
Apparently there's some subset of nintendo fan who hates "weeb shit" as comical as that may sound, since NOA was being moronic during the gamecube era over that.
pikminbros we won
Never thought I’d see the day when a Pikmin game outsells a Final Fantasy game. Rest in piss, FF.
What are the chances Nintendo releases Pikmin 5 in the next decade?
I don't give a shit how long it takes I just don't want any rushed game.
If it takes them an ungoldly amount of time to make one good game then so be it.
Pikmin V
Hey! Pikmin port when?
How does this compare to other Pikmin games?
Tell me why I need to finally play these fricking games
4 is the best one by far and has almost as much content as the first 3 games combined. 4 is so big infact that they put the entirety of Pikmin 1 in the game as a side mission.
>entirety of Pikmin 1 in the game as a side mission
You're fricking with me
he's being dumb. it's a side mode structured similarly to pikmin 1 but it's shorter and using the levels and mechanics of 4.
Makes more sense. Still, cool idea to have in there
Does the demo give a good idea of the game as a whole?
>it's shorter
It has a shorter time limit, but considering the level size and how many different enemies are thrown in, it's bigger than 1 was.
it can be beaten much faster than pikmin 1
Because everything moves faster in general.
Its basically the first game remade entirely inside 4, but harder.
Yeah the demo is quite lengthy and gives you a good feel of the whole game overall.
Fricking sweet, I'll try that and see if it hooks me
Mind you it's the Pikmin 1 game concept redone on the Pikmin 4 maps.
Oh wtf really? I might pick up the game just for this since I heard the new game doesn't really have a time limit and was too easy with the dog.
the main game has no timelimit but the Olimars tale has the day limit again, and the dandori challenges are all timed missions as well.
theres a lot of timed missions through dandori challenges which are really addictive
4 is a very good game, it's either my new favorite or 2nd favorite. You could probably play it standalone as your first and it wouldn't be a bad starting poing but I think the people who will get the most out of 4 are huge 1 and 2 autists because there's an insane ammount of callbacks to the first 2 games. You can skip 3 if you just wanna play 4, it's a good game but it's definitely the 'that game' of the Pikmin series.
4 takes everything good about the series and puts it together.
Genuinely the worst game in the franchise if you don't count Hey Pikmin
The dog is broken and the entire game is balanced around him. Dandori missions are the biggest victims of this shit, some are downright impossible if you don't upgrade the dog
3 pikmin limit for no reason
You play most of the game with around 50 pikmin because the game forces you to upgrade that cap. It takes 4 entire zones to finally reach the 100 cap from 1 2 3
The swarming ability from 1 and 2 is unlocked in the very fricking last part of the game because FRICK YOU
Night missions were made by homosexuals that don't like Pikmin. Literally a tower defense minigame BUT you're only allowed to use one type of overpowered pikmin where you hold X to deal massive damage. Not even Hey Pikmin was this bad
AUTO FRICKING AIM STRAIGHT UP RUINS THE ENTIRE FRICKING GAME WHAT THE SHIT WERE THEY THINKING
A bunch of other full moronic game decisions such as making single player VS dandori missions be split screen
Don't even care about DLC anymore, already uninstalled this shit. Some homosexual will cry about dandori issue or something moronic despite the fact that I 100%'d the game with no issues
>game is balanced around thing
>thing is broken
well which is it?
It means that the game EXPECTS you to use the fricking stupid ass dog
Why did they add the fricking moronic 3 type Pikmin limit? It wasn't to make the game harder, it was just to shove more of the fricking dog down your throat since he can do nearly everything
The dog serves an important function in making the game more action oriented and fast paced, necessary qualities for it to sell. No one fricking likes RTS games. Its probably the least popular genre. The dog is a compromise. You still have to use the smaller units - pikmin to complete puzzles and carry objects, but now you the player can actively do things too, like fight enemies and grab treasure. There is no future for pikmin as a pure RTS. Adding some action elements makes it thrive.
Good, so they ruined Pikmin just to make more money. Another franchise dead I guess
Such a shame that Hey Pikmin didn't release on the Switch instead. 2D shit is way more appealing to drooling morons than Pikmin 4 and the fate would have been the same
>No one fricking likes RTS games
Literally the BOTW/TOTK cope. Pikmin/Zelda was always shit so it was necessary to reinvent the entire franchise to make the games good again
The game only appeals to homosexuals that hate Pikmin
NTA but it's not cope. Every single RTS franchise in the past decade has been crashing and burning with no recovery in sight to the point the new Company of Heroes was forgotten not even a week after release.
Yes, and I hope that Pikmin 5 will be a shitty 2D side scroller because Mario Wonder will be the best selling game of the franchise
AOE2:DE seems like its doing really well for itself, with new dlc every 6 months and increasing player numbers. But that is just 1 game compared to many others i know.
AoE2 really is the exception to the rule and even then the playerbase is just 90% boomers who played the original.
AoE is one of the reamining pioneers of the genre that isnt dead so no surprise fans are still enjoying it decades later.
Auto aim is likely a mainstay sadly. If a friend of mine is anything to go by, there's a bunch of dumbasses out there that can't aim and run at the same time properly and blame the game for their own obvious moronation. Gotta rack in everyone you can at the expense of simplifying something more than it already is
Pikmin games generally slld 2 million and yhis will sell around 5 million. Its the difference between being a net loss and a net profit so it's very important for the series.
There's no gameplay discussion surrounding the game, and every single thread is just sales talk. That's a red flag for bad gameplay, unfortunately.
We ran out of things to talk about moron. What more can I say? Should I whine about the game being to easy again?
That's a lie thoughever
Are you blind? Go into any Pikmin thread and you'll see people still discussing the game itself and its 1-2 autists talking about sales.
And how many fans are disavowing the sales posters? It's your job to wrangle the bad faith posters.
>Disavowing shitposts on an anonymous Mongolian Basket Weaving Forum
An excercise in futility.
>disavowing the sales posters
Holy frick dude, why would anyone have to disavow shitposters on a taiwanese basket weaving forum? They're SHITPOSTERS. Maybe you'd do better on a groupthink website like twitter or reddit.
4 is my first pikmin game and its so fun, everything has so much care put into it, and it has a surprising amount of content, starts out pretty easy but gets progressively more challenging, might be my GOTY
1 > 2 > 4 > 3
That being said the first three are all in the 8/10 - 9/10 range, 3 is a 7/10
>1 still being the best
You are truly delirious.
2>1>4>3
All of them are good in their own ways, that's just how I'd rank them.
Pikmin 4 is soul. One of the few actually good first party switch releases alongside botw/totk (better than that because pikmin is more fun)
4 > 3 > 2 > 1
They're fantastic, but there's no reason not to play them in order.
Going back to 1 after playing the latest entries can be difficult due to the sheer lack of quality of like features.
It’s an easy contender for the best of the series, and it makes it obvious how unfinished 3 was.
is this the new thread?
people say the game would be perfect with mods, what would you add?
>turn off the excess chatter
>hard mode
>true multiplayer for campaign
>ability to turn off auto lock on to make it more like 3's
>online dandori battles
>dlc/fan made new game+
there's a fallout mod where it combines games and you can go from 3 to New Vegas and take gear back and forth. How cool would it be if there was a Pikmin mod where you play 1-4 and get to keep your pikmin all the way through.
Enemies respawn, no fricking chatter, and manual aiming. Also get rid of that "you can't throw for a moment when you've thrown enough pikmin" because its fricking annoying and I LIKE throwing too many pikmin you stupid fricking game it makes them carry faster FRICK
Generally, overloading carrying is much less efficient.
Just hold a pikmin before you approach the object then you can manually aim with motion controls and avoid auto lock. Not ideal but it’s the workaround for now
Get the rush move.
Normal multiplayer would be sick.
Would you drink pepsiwraith?
can't taste any worse than normal pepsi
essentials
>online multiplayer
>hard mode
>dialogue removal
what i'd personally want
>fan-made shipwreck tales, which utilise the underused pikmin like winged
fav Pikmin mods? multiplayer for 2 looks rad.
https://pikhacker.github.io
>Rookie, Oatchi, and the Pikmin as one character in smash
Man how the frick is that going to work. I guess they'll just be called "Rescue Corps"
Realistically, will Rookie & Oatchi have Pikmin with them at all if they were a Smash rep? You could make a moveset entirely around just these two together. ESPECIALLY since items like bomb rocks and the others are now only thrown by the captain.
I need to start making movesets again.
At the end of the day Lisa and Oatchi are still Pikmin captains. They would have to be part of the moveset.
Also I'd think that Oatch would be treated more like a super unit that follows you rather then a directly controlled character. If he gets killed your moveset would probably be heavily gimped
But how would that work? How would it be balanced out to have both oatchi and the pikmin function together, since both have such deep mechanics?
Have Lisa ride Oatchi full time like Bowser Jr, and attack using the pikmin same as Olimar does. Maybe of Oatchi gets too hurt you lose him and have to function like a much weaker Olimar
But oatchi’s main gimmick is that you ride him
And is fire immune thus replacing fire pikmin except for 2 times where you're forced to pick a fire ball
And is immune to lightning thus replacing yellow pikmin completely because the mary sue dog can also hit walls to make stuff that too high up fall down
And is poison immune thus completely replacing white pikmin
You have to get all of that through upgrades.
So? You get those upgrades extremely fricking soon regardless. In fact, I'm pretty sure that you can buy the poison one way before you even get white pikmin
Also, you need to buy ALL upgrades if you want to buy the swarming ability, so that's an extra frick you
>Also, you need to buy ALL upgrades if you want to buy the swarming ability, so that's an extra frick you
Scratch that, I forgot that the one you get by buying everything is the pluck whistle. So you're even more penalized for not buying the dog upgrades since the upgraded whistle is pretty much mandatory to platinum the sage trial missions.
>Smash moveset for Oatchi + Lisa
Could be interesting. Charging would be an obvious move, would be more interesting if you can mount/dismount Oatchi.
I'm playing the games out of order right now. almost done with 3, 20% through 4, enjoying both those a lot. about to dive into 1+2 letsa go
>playing 1 after others
You're going to be disappointed. Not because it's bad, but because it's painfully short once you know how a Pikmin game works. A blind first playthrough takes less than an afternoon.
yeah I know that one is the shortest.
4 is great tho
why does the mamuta purr like a cat? what kind of animal is this?
I'd assume that like almost everything in Pikmin, It's actually some sort of bug, it just happened to evolve into something that resembles a mammal.
>he's just sitting there, peacefully minding his own business staring at the clouds
>have to murder him for 100%
Why did they make me do it? I just wanted to leave him alone ; _ ;
Cannot wait for Yoshit-Piss's inevitable firing and suicide
Gematsu is seething hard
>Pikmin 4 sells more in 1 week than FFXVI did in 1 month so they have to deflect it with PS5 sales
yoshitp cultists are so easy to bait
all the sales debacle is so silly yet you have them all over Ganker seething and making excuses for square
>Lost to your predecessor
>Outsold by Metroid in the west
>BTFO by Kirby
>Annihilated by Zelda
>and now murdered by Pikmin
Imagine the only games you’re beating is an outsourced Advance Wars remake and fricking Everybody 1-2 switch.
E12S is beating Engage in Japan too
No way. No fricking way, I’m gonna need a source on that one.
oh wait, so far it isn't, but it currently has legs
Wasn't this shit the second best selling switch game of the year before Pikmin came out
>OHNONONONONO BROS NOW ITS ONLY 3rd
I bought and enjoyed both
Only in terms of E-Shop during one month.
>add dog
>morons buy it
Pikmin is fricking dead now
You have never played a Pikmin game.
>Collin asks Olimar about some adventurous stories
>Olimar starts talking about the challenges of being a middle manager at a freight company
I don't know why but Olimar having an incredibly plain job makes him so much more likable as a character. The fact that his ecological studies in the piklopedia are just a side-hobby is fricking weirdly charming
one of his treasure descriptions or one of his logs or something talks about how he's happy he gets to go on adventures despite being a glorified delivery boy
80% of olimar's notes in the treasure hoard are just him talking about his family. You get to see how much he loves his wife and kids. He is definitely Nintendo's most relatable and down to earth character.
Pikmin deserves more recognition as a franchise tbh
>The fact that his ecological studies in the piklopedia are just a side-hobby is fricking weirdly charming
It is pretty real to pursue education in something you're interested in only to get fricked when hunting for a job that pays well.
Mario Wonder will be the final nail in the coffin for the weeb shit.
Didn't that FE 3 hopes musou game sold like absolute shit?
Pikmin musou WHEN
>Play as different bulborbs eating hordes of Pikmin
That actually sounds like a fun side mode.
Ever played the infected mode in L4D? A mode where a few captains have to collect treasure while another group can take over random creatures on the map to ruin it for them sounds fun.
I don’t really mind the weeby Nintendo games, but goddamn Engage leaned way to much into wanting the homosexual mobile game crowd and XC3 was a boring, self-fellating rehash that embodied “Jap boomer mad that new generation isn’t reproducing enough, but refuses to take accountability for fricking them all up in the first place”.
Musous rarely do well. But it’s no coincidence that the least weebshit non-remake Fire Emblem in over a decade is the one that does well.
the only musou that sold well is AoC
>Didn't that FE 3 hopes musou game sold like absolute shit?
No. It sold over a million copies in its first 2 months which by musou standards is great. Only the Zelda ones have sold more than it.
https://twitter.com/fireemblemmusou/status/1559812281835347968
Three Houses sold over 4 million copies, making it not only the best selling game in the series, but the best selling strategy-RPG of all time. The gacha still shits out profits like nobody's business too.
maybe i will play hey pikmin
>YOU VILL USE THE DOG
>one game after 4 attemps sells decent numbers
>pikmingays act like they are kings of the world
Sorry, bros but once doesnt cut it
I mean 3 sold like 3 millions whi h isn't gangbusters but it's not nothing.
we're gonna have to wait another 15 years for the next one let us have this.
First game: released on underperforming console
Second game: Released on underperforming console.
Third game: Released on dumpster fire
Fourth game released on an actually successful console.
Notice something
>first two games released on one of the most successful consoles in history
Oh? Does the wii version not count?
Barely marketed rerelease counts. Alright buddy. They release on the switch has done fairly well since they actually advertised the goddamn games.
But I like Animu trash AND Pikmin.
Feels good bros, I won't be in my 30s by the time pikmin 5 comes out
I thought I'd hate the dog but I love this little bastard
people act like overpowered units would be hated yet people still fricking love purples and wingeds.
He's overpowered but if you use him to do anything like carry an object or dig or whatever, you lose the ability to ride him to jump, charge, keep your entire pikmin army as a small target, etc. So there's a big tradeoff in how versatile and powerful he is.
I was in the camp of Oatchi feeling like he was redditor bait and maybe he is, but playing Pikmin 4 he grew on me and I find him quite charming now. Moss is better tho.
I fricking love Oatchi (outside of gameplay, he's too OP but he's a good boy)
i won't lie i'm really glad they just allow you to immediately retry shit. rewind is nice, if easily abusable. but also stuff like the dandori challenges and the night modes can actually get difficult after the credits roll.
the reset button was always on the gamecube, they just made it faster to save you time.
I'm surprised at all the biology terminology in the piklopedia notes
Pikmin 4 breaking ground at being the first nintendo product to mention sperm.
That’s always been a thing, or at the very least since 2. Been a while since I’ve read any of 1’s journals on the wildlife to see if they ever went that in-depth. There’s a reason the Deluxe version of 3 went back and added this stuff when the base game didn’t have it. Adds a lot of character to the game.
Would this be a better moveset for Olimar in Smash?
Need Louie in Smash
I don't know why people get mad when both games are good, hell the thing I was playing right before 4 was out was xvi, I wanted to finish it before 4 was out because I assumed (and was right) that I would not want to split time between the two since I liked both.
Sony can choke on some Black person dicks for making everything ff exclusive though (besides crisis core for some reason)
why are some anons being so doomer? the game is a huge W and many are loving it.
seems like a dandori issue
>"git gud scrub" - not nintendo
AAAAAAAA I'M BEING RAPED
>"git gud scrub" - nintendo
I no longer want to 41% myself
I've unironically seen Youtube comments be more critical of 4 than Ganker has been. Mostly a bunch of zoomers who whine about it not being like 3, but the point remains.
Nintendo youtube comments are all zoomers being nostalgiagayging the Wii.
They want the game to fail because they want Nintendo to fail. Console warriors will always exist. And Sony fanboys are not very happy right now with the total lack of exclusives and horrible software sales.
While I'm happy to see PIkmin succeed, and while it's funny seeing it outsell a Final fantasy, I have a hatred for console warriors who ruin discussion by jerking off sales. Same reason why I hate Xenoblade, why I hate Splatoon, why I feel disdain for Zelda and Mario, and why it's even hard for me to enjoy Metroid. I can't enjoy a game if bad faith posters are ruining discussion. So I deduct points off of the game itself as a result.
Seriously, Xeno is somehow one of the worst fandoms on this fricking board.
Gacha games always have dogshit fandoms
>but xeno isnt a-
It's still intentionally built to draw in gacha gays
Worse than the monkey and ladder experiment that is the Fire Emblem community?
Fire Emblem can still occasionally get a thread that talks about lore, characters, or gameplay mechanics. Xeno is almost exclusively just mentally ill coomers using the sex lives of their characters as a personal victory.
>Xeno is almost exclusively just mentally ill coomers using the sex lives of their characters as a personal victory.
Not true. i talked a lot about the game lore. There was a lot of threads about it. The DLC is done and people moved on from the games so now just waifu gays are making threads.
>that talks about lore, characters
Good joke anon. That’s the stuff they go apeshit and start calling you a troony over.
Xenoblade lore is too apeshit to not talk about, mentally filter the things that bother you
FEgays talk far less about lore than xeno, there's nothing to talk about
cope more snoy
Pikmin fans are talking about sales because the series is on the verge of death due to lack of sales before now.
Yup, similar situation to FE
PIKWON
you have the chart about how 4 has the most preorders of all the pikmin games?
No but I have that screencap saying Pikmin 4 was number 1 for preorders on the US Eshop
MK8D being still up there is also insane, for a game that will have had most of its development costs in 2013/14, its must just be printing pure money now every day
I don't even like Mario Kart 8 very much but it's impossible to deny the incredible value it proposes. 12 cups in just the base game alone is a fantastic value and the course DLC is very reasonably priced for the amount of content it offers. Great for casuals as well. Frankly, if you have a switch and not Mario Kart 8 how can you ask anything besides "What the hell, why don't you have it"
THE FIRST GAME TO SELL A DANDORILLION COPIES
actually FRICK this last night mission how the hell do i beat this
Dandori issue. I never failed a single nightime challenge.
For real though, make sure you are using oatchi and your captain separately. Glow pikmin teleport to whoever you're controlling. Also dont be afraid to just leave 1 or 2 glow pikmin on a star bit pile. They'll travel back to it until it is cleared, gradually give you more pikmin for a low cost.
>glow pikmin teleport to whoever you're controlling
OH SHIT
now i know how to handle those progg eggs tyvm!
>cleared every single night mission except the last one without even knowing how that shit works
Yep, that's Pikmin 4
Use your glow seeds
>entire timeline is full of anime girls playing pikmin
>Nintendo fans hate each other, more then anyone else.
This, funny that i see people saying how "wholesome" the pikmin community is. They are just celebrating the "death" of rpgs for some stupid reason. It's like the Mario gays saying that a new xenoblade and fire emblem is less Mario games releasing for some schizo reason.
They absolutely are not. Stop making shit up.
moron
there is literally no reason I should like other nintendo fans
Not my fault most Nintendo fans have stupid tastes
>Lament the death of Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario, many won't even try Mario+Rabbids
>Hates Xenoblade for even existing when it's nothing like turn based RPGs or most RPGs in general
>Can't stand anime, ignores the fact Nintendo is a japanese company
>Hypes Smash brother for actually everything but the gameplay
>has access to play nearly every Rockman game in existence by official means, doesn't care
>Sucks off BOTW/TOTK as the second coming of christ
because it was the first and only open world game they played
>Won't dare touch a first-person shooter unless it's bad 30fps ports of Bethesda nu-DOOM
>Is still loyal to Pokemon, for some reason
>loses their shit over any Mario spin-off regardless of quality
>Gets Bayonetta to themselves, doesn't appreciate it
>Half the Paper Mario fandom is letting some shitty games live in their head rent-free and making everything about them, and the other half are contrarian zoomers that want to make a statement by pretending the bad games are good
Mario and rabbids is fricking dogshit thats why nobody touched the sequel
Nah.
Nobody touched the sequel because the first game was constantly discounted to just $20-$30 like every other Ubisoft game, you would have to be stupid to not expect the same pattern to happen again and buy it at full price. Then turns out they didn't discount, nobody bought it while waiting for it to get cheaper, so since nobody bought it nobody talks about it and evrybody forgot it released, and now they gotta discount it to move copies of the shelf after everybody moved on, kek
To be fair i see people saying it's a good game i just hate the rabbids a lot and i'm not playing it just because there is Mario in it.
It's actually really good, like surprisingly good
Ubisoft said they'll give it a Switch 2 port so I'll wait.
You are exactly the sort of person
is talking about. Way to prove his point.
Not my problem. Sharts of hope flopped. Hopefully that director who cried at the reveal of the first game killed himself
Good, he’s right
wasn't it literally in Ganker's top 10 video games of 2022
yes
the big drop-off is mainly because it released with other shit to play on the console, unlike the first game releasing at console launch
also because the full dlc hasn't dropped yet, and people will start getting the game once the game starts going on sale alongside the DLC
won't be surprised if Ubisoft does a 180 on the games sales, in fact I think they already are starting to considering they have plans to update the game for next-gen, which they wouldn't do if they thought it was a flop.
Games like bayo 3 also have to be creatively held back by the hardware itself but i just didnt enjoy 3 compared to 2
the death of Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario, many won't even try Mario+Rabbids
Why would I play fricking XCOM to replace a game about timed hits?
because it has mario in it! that funny fella
tbf, when 90% discussions about those games devolve into 'muh OCs', it's not that much of a reach
*than
Pikmin 4 is babbified. The game sucks, my little cute alphas.
you didn't play the game.
Just got the Sage Leaf platinum's. Pluckophone is clearly in the game just to get those. Makes them so much easier.
I got all of them without it because I was moronic and jumped in thinking it was a regular cave and got too invested in getting all Plats the first time around. I had the thing available for purchase but I just didn't have enough raw mats. 4th Story or so which had the Bug-Eyed Crawmad was fricking me so hard due to all the Pikmin I had to pluck.
Try again with everything equipped. Break those records.
Don't wanna boot the game back up again for at least a month, I'm content with my 4-day Olimar run.
>game is a joy to just stop and stare at
>stopping and staring completely fricks over your dandori
What did Nintendo mean by this?
yeah, they literally tell you in the commercial "relax with this game" it's meant to be chill and comfy. theres no day limit, etc. the challenge comes with later areas and the dandori battles.
theres always time to smell the roses, unless you are speedrunning.
I feel they meant to kick back and relax a bit on your first trek through an area to get a feel for everything, then start to dandorimaxxx once you know where things are and how it all fits together. Olimar's Shipwreck Log lets you replay each day through so you can get accustomed to it until you eventually can get it all done in just 4 days.
the nintendo online switch icons for pikmin change out tonight if anybody is into that
New pikmin types should have been locked to caves with a boss that uses the specific element like the sirehound battle and then you unlock their onion by freeing it from whatever trap it was that required the specific type. Dandori ruined it because now there's no backtracking, now you need to be able get all types in the same region so you can do everything in a day
I don't like how 4 is this weird reboot/retelling of all other games but I'm happy it's doing well.
Honestly blame Miyamoto for this. He remade Star fox 1 story so many times until he killed it. At Least with Pikmin the reboot feels different.
>Pikmin is only alive because Miyamoto forces Nintendo to push it
>Miyamoto could potentially kill the series himself because of his refusal to move the franchise foward and instead retell the same story over and over
I appreciate everything he's done.
But I also hope he dies within the decade.
He'll be alive in 2030 directing a new franchise by then. Cope
Isn't he like 90 years old
>TFW I love Nintendo's JRPGs
>TFW I love Pikmin
frick Splatroon, shit sucks dick
Would you rather see Yoshit-Piss or Final homosexual the 16th get dragged by Pikmin to and sucked up by The Onion?
Yoshi-P
Dead or alive and tied up and crying about "muh usual base?"
here's a better pic
Final Fantasy XIV, people don't know Yoshi-P
How many days did it take for you to get to the true ending? Mine was 40.
>do leafling challenge at end of day
>only have 10 seconds to transfer them to onion
>oatchi comes in with the SAVE
the dog is good
It's over for FF.
>what the frick happened?
SE dropping the ball on repeat.
You replied to the wrong guy.
Oh shit I did, thank you for telling me
20 years ago FF was king of JRPGs and Pikmin was a niche Gamecube game, what the frick happened?
>fricks up dandori challenge
>that one crew member that's been doing nothing says he wants to help
>sure why not, is he going to be another oatchi?
>no lol he just clears the level for you
c-can I redo dandori challenges? I don't like this guy
Yeah, once you rescue certain people, you can do it with them.
Jesus you guys weren't kidding when you said the sage trials don't frick around. I got up to story 3 before wanting to stop and get a few more upgrades to make it easier
An NPC at the base lets you replay them
Settle for bronze to get the Onion's then worry about Platinum's once you have every upgrade.
Final Fantasy is dead
Bury it
Consider this mercy
A day passing after fricking about with the Sage Leaf for replays is annoying.
PIKMILLION COPIES
It even outsold the first week of Kirby and the Forgotten Land
alright now i'm conflicted
I love Kirby but Kirby is arguably Nintendo's best treated franchise.
I'm glad Pikmin got a win for once.
yeah i suppose you're right. can't let myself get too gluttonous
>Nintendo's
It's because Kirby is pretty much all HAL does, like you'll rarely see them do a small digital only game and that's it.
>Kirby is arguably Nintendo's best treated franchise.
Because HAL is the best surrogate father in the industry and spoils both the pink bastard and his fans rotten for over a decade now. The entire 30th anniversary from Forgotten Land until Tilt n Tumble on NSO was them stuffing their fans obese nonstop for an entire year, shit most all other franchises across the board would kill to have.
Kirby by en large isn’t nintendo, it’s HAL. All nintendo really has to do is marketing
Calm your breasts Kirbygay you get tons of games as it is. Its time for a break. Vanpool is dead so no more eshop slop.
Don't forget, Kirby has great legs. It remains to be seen if Pikmin 4 will continue to sell well.
Why the frick are you morons salesgayging games you both like.
What's wrong with you people.
>First it was gays pretending that people hated 2
>Now it's gays pretending that people hate literally any other recent game
I guess nothing's immune to shitposters
>pretending that people hated 2
I mean, people have called 2 the "Black Sheep" until 4 basically got all its ideas and streamlined it.
>I mean, people have called 2 the "Black Sheep"
by who? morons? 1 and 2 have more in common than anything 3 does
3 is arguably the black sheep now, since it's by far the most linear and the least open ended out of all of the games. I couldn't shake that feeling all while I've been playing 4, even as someone who still likes 3. I just have this constant feeling of "Oh wow, this what a proper sequel to 1 and 2 actually feels like" that 3 never really delivers except on a story level.
I dunno, I think the 3 captain's being controlled at once still make it super fun to go back to.
Even though 4 introduced the "Dandori" meme I don't think any of the games reach as high of pure Dandori escatcy as having 3 captains multitask all at once and collecting every juice+kill the boss in 1-2 days.
I do agree 4 overall though is better. I just think 3's peak Dandori is higher.
Alright fuccboi what's your strats for 1-daying each area in 4?
I still can't see it possible for Hero's Hideaway.
I dunno. Game is new so maybe my feelings will change with more replays. I'm just giving my thoughts now. It's very plausible my opinions on this could change overtime as I get gudder.
>Even though 4 introduced the "Dandori" meme
miyamoto wouldn't shut up about dandori when 1 came out he just didn't make it every other word in the game
You will Dandori one way or another
I don't think it's a bad thing, it's jus absolutely not new.
I do agree with you, I still like 3 a lot and I think it is the only game that does anything really in depth with having multiple captains. 2 and moreso 4 have shades of it but 3 is 'the game with 3 captains'. But that's kind of my point, that plus the linearity is what makes it different from the rest. 3 does well what it does but it is a pretty big change from the other 3 games now. People can't really say 2 is the black sheep of the series somehow because it has caves, since 4 bring them back embraces it to the point where it has 1 to 1 copies of certain floors from 2's caves.
If the Switch can get Metroid and Pikmin selling well, they really should just take a gamble on F-Zero
All F-Zero needs is a GX port with online or even an F-Zero 99 based on X
F-Zero's problem is Nintendo correctly perceives it will get choked out by Mario Kart.
F-zero has no identity.
Problem is F-Zero needs both a Nintendo higher up to vouch for the series and a 3rd party dev team who'd be up for it.
Times you felt like Louie while playing video games?
I'm happy Pikmingays finally got their moment
Who do minish people from an alien planet using a Japanese term like "Dandori"?
Same reason they use all the other words.
convergent language evolution
Why do they have names like Louie, Brittany, Charlie, Collin and Bernard? How does Louie know what a Po'boy is?
Why do minish people from an alien planet speak English?
>We might live to see the day actual ayys seethe over games like Pikmin for being racist
What a time to be alive.
Honestly i didn't even knew dandori(schedule, planning, etc) was a japanese term. I thought it was a pikmin thing. Nintendo is like this sometimes like tha direct where they were saying Miyamoto "san" lol. Honestly i like this, better just use that japanese word than "localize" and remove the meaning of it. Now we have dandori memes because of it.
I'm torn, the game is good and I 100% it (plats aside) but man, it kills me knowing the Pikmin I enjoyed (aka 1 and 2) is basically dead. The overall vibe/atmosphere and focus on different gameplay genres and controls really will basically be like 4 from now I imagine. I get it'll sell better and appeal to a bigger audience and again I do think the game itself is good alone but I can't help but be bummed out by it.
Literally all I want is to be able to aim myself.
Every encounter in 4 is the exact same because you don't have to aim. You just know that your pikmin will always land on the enemy no matter what as you circle around and press A.
>Introduce hard mode
>Option to turn off auto-aim in settings
Add this and 4 would be the perfect Pikmin game.
So pikmin 4 sold more in 1 day than XVI sold in more than one month?
Square execs must be raping his ass as we speak
Never touched a FF game so I know nothing but
>All reviews and fans are about how they change up the genre and style of this new one to such a drastic degree
>Many fans and critics say it plays nothing like an FF
>A lot of the same fans say this is a good thing
I get not wanting your series to get stale and just be the same shit over and over like Asscreed or New Super Mario but isn't the point of contiuing the series is to at least be somewhat like the rest of the franchise? At least a little bit? Like 4 does a lot of new shit to appeal to a new audience but it still feels very much like Pikmin. It's major changes but not drastically so I can't say "It doesn't even feel like Pikmin".
Yet the fact so many fans FF cheered over this fact sorta just tells me maybe FF has been in a really bad spot for a while. Like:
>An FF game that oisn' anything like FF?
>FINALLY!
Listen the absolute state of the franchise since XIII came out has been such a fricking shit show that yes, XVI is somehow the best thing mainline has seen in nearly 20 years.
4 Black folk in a row should return but first they need to take their head out of their ass and just make something that's playable, which they managed, now they just need to manage it twice in a row, something they haven't done in even longer.
I legitimately haven't beaten a Final Fantasy game since X. They lost their magic somewhere around XII-XIII. Maybe XI cursed the franchise.
XII is technically what cursed the franchise even if it itself wasn't that bad of a game. The fallout from that is part of what led to XIII and that tainted the franchise beyond repair for what seemed like an eternity.
I actually enjoyed the first half of XII, it just went on for way too long and felt too bloated and I eventually lost interest. XIII I just couldn't get past how the game fricking played itself and was just a Long Hallway Simulator. Nothing after that has even piqued my interest after the first hour.
I just want the 4 homies in a row game we were playing in our heads when we were playing VI/VII as kids. Why is that so hard?
I actually liked the VII remake and enjoyed that one. Felt like a nice compromise between action and turn based. Doesn't change the fact I want my 4 homies in a row FF game with modern graphics.
It's absolutely not turn based but if you want the "FF4/6 you played in your head" then jack's game is unironically pretty great with how it handles the job system.
You're only just now noticing Ganker's lunacy to tortanic post anything and everything?
Wasn't FF13 the way it is less bacause of an artistic decision or them course correcting after 12 and more because Crystal Tools is a garbage engine? Versus 13 and XIV 1.0 also suffered because of that engine iirc. XIV is literally the first Final Fantasy game since FFX to not have troubled development.
That's why I said part of. There are endless reasons as to why XIII ended up shit, probably one of the bigger ones was "We wanted to cater to the western shooter audience" (Their words for why it was linear and how the combat worked) but yes the engine was dogshit and the entire concept of the FNC was rotten from the start.
Arguably making XI a mainline game MMO is the problem since that meant they skipped a good chunk of time without a single-player mainline FF.
Then XII being pretty devisive made things worse.
And then XIII nuked the series and the possibility of new fans for that console generation.
Frankly, going from like 2 years between releases to like 10 years between releases killed a lot of FF's cultural momentum.
Admittedly that too, but that's a more wider problem with the entire industy that AAA has gotten so bloated and expensive.
Remember that they also spent 5 YEARS straight shitting out nothing but Lightning games before that
The state of the franchise is bad yeah, but no one can say they didn't have it coming
>xenotrash and 3HRTs shitting up pikmin threads now
insufferable
Wait hold on, just this morning Ganker was telling me Pikmin 4 was a huge bomb and the the series was on its deathbed?
Which is correct?
>ust this morning Ganker was telling me X game was a huge bomb
Name a game where Ganker didn't say this.
Name a game where Ganker's initial reaction wasn't to hope for another TORtanic.
easy to stick with what works innit
Why is ff16 so much more yen than pikmin?
Isn't FF 16 like 70 dollars? Pikmin is just a cheaper game.
Yeah but pikmin was $60 I don’t see how $10 == nearly double the yen
It's just how the game cost there. I don't know why though.
>the most recognized RPG brand in the world mogged by one of Nintendo's B-tier titles
lol...
should have released on PC day 1
>fricking PIKMIN outselling a new FF
I don't think even EA has killed a franchise this hard
SQEnix really is something else
To be fair, FF would have outsold pikmin 4 if it was on the Switch or PC. Still a pathetic showing for both sqeenix and snoy
You're only looking at 1 week of Pikmin sales lil fella
And unlike XVI, word-of-mouth for Pikmin 4 is pretty good
Is FF a dead franchise?
are we really trying to console war with a pikmin game
olimar could fight kratos with his bare hands
master chief > alph
Louie kills Master Chief then Kills and makes a recipe for the Arbiter
Shitting on snoys while enjoying pikmin is good dandori.
I heard the le heckin gudboi wholesome chungus doggo is OP. Is the game too easy or are there difficulty options?
Game difficulty is about the same as others (except the fricking kaizo insanity of 2's later dungeons). The Olimar side missions actually made me sweat a bit the first time I played them to meet the time limit, especially the early days. Haven't played the extra dandori stuff yet, apparently it can get a bit difficult.
People get hung up on the fact you can make him immune to elemental hazards (just like you could with the captains in 2), raise his damage to the point that you can one-shot lesser enemies (just like you could in every fricking game by landing a throw on them) and raise his strength so he can carry 100-weight items on his own. In practice, none of this really matters because a single super-unit can't accomplish much in a game that throws a stack of 20 1-weight resources at you every other minute. The vast majority of the time, he's simply a secondary captain you're routing around the map to assign tasks to pikmin.
I have the 100 pikmin limit, are flaric bulbs collected after that no use? Besides completion
I think it just gives you nectar after you have 100
*PLAP* *PLAP* *PLAP* *PLAP* *PLAP* *PLAP*
RED PIKMIN RED PIKMIN RED PIKMIN RED PIKMIN RED PIKMIN
weird, i totally missed the launch of pikmin 4
is it good?
the demo didn't convince me that much
the dogs abilities and the lockon kinda took away form the pikmin experience and I really missed the ability to switch between captains to better explore the map
Its good, having a ton of fun with it. Oatchi can eventually be switched to as a pseudo captain to split duties.
Nothing can be done about lockon other than, don't use it.
Definitely worth playing.
Nintards will buy ANYTHING, it’s true.
They didn’t buy Engage and Advance Wars
Very funny anon, but tell me where is Metroid Prime 4?
In the salt mines.
How the frick does Louie eat if oxygen is toxic to him?
>holds breath
>takes off helmet
>puts food in helmet
>puts helmet back on
>releases oxygen from helmet
>inhales
>eat
Don't worry about it.
drags it back to his ship to cook it?
You mean the ship that got damaged? It's even said that he eats enemies straight away.
>Question how he eats with a helmet
>Does not question how this psycho motherfricker eats half of these in the first place
My man ate a Man-At-Legs and used the oil for gravy. He is whacky.
So is the series still post apocalypse or are there humans somewhere on earth still keeping it tidy while the rest of mankind left earth for other planets?
Everything looks so clean in 4 its almost like youre playing chibi robo or something.
Post-apocalypse never really made sense anyway. That paper bag that's the very first obstacle in the series would last until it starts raining.
Feels like they're going for more of a "the hidden world in YOUR garden" kind of thing.
I think miyamoto has more or less transitioned pikmin to be a more so of an Arietty situation where they're invisible to people but they live among us.
It seems more like a rapture kind of incident since everything's gone without rubble or anything. They go into a house in 4 and don't see a human or presence of them, so I doubt humans are just around at all.
I think Sparklium is what keeps everything so "fresh", I can't think of anything else other than the rapture which would be a bit too much for a Nintendo game.
You're an absolute moron if you've played these games and think humans are just hiding right offscreen or something
They don't exist anymore
Maybe with the first few games but in 4 the sprinklers have running water and the hero's hideaway is spotless, with water in the sink and table fans on. Those mf's are still paying their electric bill.
I wonder how humans would be rendered if they ever appeared in Pikmin. Their garbage looks realistic enough but it’s be difficult to pull off realistic human models with Pikmin’s aesthetics.
The answer is that the devs wanted to explore quaint human areas that look pretty and pleasing to the eye instead of covered in 100,000,000 years of dirt. That's it.
If they made those areas look like actually how much time has passed they wouldn't fricking exist anymore, they'd be dust and so would every treasure you collect, and then there wouldn't be any game to play.
I can see why people are torn. The spotless nature of 4 and the fact thats the lights are all still on and several of the dungeons are just active human areas like a tool shed and an office aquarium is pretty strange.
That being said, Pikmin has always had a weird mysterious vibe to it's world, so maybe there is some weird sci-fi shit going on. Or maybe it won't ever be explained because the characters lack the context to question it in the first place.
i've always had a really autistic headcanon that the wraiths keep everything new looking because they used to be human (the waterwraith has sapien in its scientific name)
Aside from the wraiths and the glow pikmin which olimar speculates are spiritual beings, there could be other ghosts doing all the cooking and cleaning too
Pikmin 4 heavily implies that humans fricked off from Earth and eventually evolved into the tiny spacemen we know
The wraiths are who knows what
According to some logs it’s apparently a KtFL situation where the humans just left
When will Pikmin have its AND HERE WE ARE moment?
People have been thinking of neat ways to implement humans existing for years.
I feel like part of the charm of the series is seeing the Pikmin characters come across ordinary things and being completely domumbfounded as to what their purpose is so I hope we don't ever get a revelation like that. It's not really important to the games anyway. The series is about the pikmin world not the human world.
I agree, I more meant finding something they left behind thats legit dangerous to things larger than a dime.
Suppose you can consider the final boss being a literal dog its moment, but it hardly counts for the obvious reasons
Getting too invested in the human aspect is honestly one of the weaker aspects of splatoon that should have stopped at Octo Expansion. We dont need to know every single thing about the human aspect to the point of logs explaining their downfall in pikmin.
Yeah it kinda sucks the mystique out of the world when they give a definitive answer as to what happened to the humans.
I guess in splatoon it's more overt to begin with though
Like yeah in splat 1 you had scrolls showing a human skeleton and maps like the museum with had a ton of man made things. But that wouldnt be out of place in pikmin.
In splatoon 3 its the entire driving force and its done in a less interesting way than Octo Expansion.
Literally the worst way to do it
>Yeah human's could've survived
>but all this stuff just happened to happen to wipe them out completely from the entire universe
>Let new generation take the reigns of alterna
>The first thing they wanna do is build a rocket to go back to the surface
>Older generation tells them that’s stupid a thousand times over
>”Lmao shut up boomer”
>They fly a rocket straight into the ceiling
>Destroys the entire cavern, killing off the final remains of humanity
They’re smart enough to build out an entire bunker to wait out the apocalypse and creates highly-advanced tech from squids to make holographic panels to make the place seem normal and they somehow don’t even last 2 generations before killing themselves off, it’s moronic. Least they made some good music before their death
It's so fricking dumb. Coupled with "Yeah the ship they also sent out fricking exploded for no reason but a bear somehow got back and gained sentience but also profound moronation."
It’s the weakest aspect for sure. We had a handwave explanation but the whole shit with alterna explaining how squids came to be killed the mystique. That whole story with it along with grizz was just bad overall, especially stupid shit like squid jesus being a literal thing. The most upsetting part for me is that the logs give the answer to how things came to be and what happened with humans existence and it will literally die with agent 3 given she’s the only one who can access the information, so it’ll just be lost to rest of squid society
The implications of the older pikmin games was that humans died out, 4 is some bizzare reboot alternate universe that states they just left
>pikmin threads are going to be full of console war/salesgay bullshit and even more homosexualry because it's the only current big name release on the shitch, a console that everyone owns and still cares about for some reason
raaaaaaaaaagh
What's the big August switch game?
nothing as big as pikmin 4? this is their defacto summer game i guess, i fricking hate modern nintendo but they seem to have mastered the art of dripfeeding game releases at juuuust the right pace so they get attention for long enough until they want everyone to consoom the next product. i am legitimately curious as to how well 4 is seling in the us though, it's #1 on the eshop but that makes sense since nothing else is out and everyone already bought tiktok
What will their moveset be?
Realistically speaking based on how effort the smash series puts into changing existing franchise reps, Olimar's moveset but Oatchi is a taunt or something.
It'd be fun to see them in Smash, or just update Olimar to have Moss. Lets you act like somewhere between Bowser Jr's koopa car and Rosalina's Luma.
Oatchi solo fighter with Moss echo would be so cool
Assuming you're talking Smash, they would have the same Pikmin mechanics as Olimar, having the Pikmin 1 trio with Ice and Glow Pikmin. On top of other moves just being basic dog stuff (headbutting, biting, tail swiping, scratching, etc.) you'd have Rush as a special move, which would latch all Pikmin on your foe at once. Using some of the Rescue Corps items (i.e., Survey Drone, bomb rocks, etc.) could also be an option.
Final Smash would be summoning the Ancient Sirehound to frick shit up.
Alts would have Oatchi don the various rescue corps colors. Moss could be an alternate (or an echo fighter) like Alph is to Olimar.
>Have to do half of the Sage Leaf Trials to get the White Onion
>Have to do all of the Sage Leaf Trials to get the Purple Onion
Is it really worth it?
The only one thats any real trouble is the last one.
The rest you can just retry if you are having a bad run.
Also its not necessary if you don't care about getting 100%.
I've been on this website since 2014 and I've never heard of TORtanic before Pikmin 4
Am I stupid or is this some psyop?
Either you are lying or were in the threads actually about video games.
Why would I be in threads that aren't about video games or anime armpits?
star wars TOR had a really bad release and coincided with DmC Devil May Cry
some Gankerirgins got completely addicted to shitting their guts out about bad launches and console warring kicked into overdrive
Yeah I googled it, I get what it's about, but why is it only relevant again now? Why is it getting called out years later?
it's been called on ever since, and refers to the kind of poster obsessed with sales figures and one game doing better than an unrelated game
Must be me not paying attention to morons then I guess. I'll carry on doing that.
basically
Imagine getting a Groovy Long Legs infestation in your house
>Exterminator can't come until tomorrow
>Can't sleep because of the constant airhorns
>It's kinda cool seeing the bugs dance but they don't eat them they just smash em
More like Pikmin Amiibo Rerelease When?
The disco long legs fight was crazy I thought i was gonna lose there he made almost all my guys dance. Idk how hard man at legs is in this one but he was never that hard to in 2.
is there any cave with an infinitely respawning bulborb larva hole like the night missions have?
Empress Bulblax will keep shitting them out
yeah but i think the holes are faster
sorry Pikmin gays but Sakurai will give those smash slots to fire emblem chads, specially to that trans friendly dragon Alear
>everyone hyping up engulfed castle
>waterwraith takes seventeen and a half years to spawn in, making the threat nonexistant
In my experience the wraith showed up much faster than in 2.
It's the same as Pikmin 2. A hyped up threat that isnt really that bad if youre half decent at the game.
>forgetting oatchi trivializing the boss
Holy based
Outrunning the wraith was never the hard part. What was hard was trying to get the treasures back to the ship which Oatchi has no bearing on. Although again in both 2 and 4 decent players will probably never see him to begin with.
Besides in 4 he has harder appearances later in the game.
A single purple stops it in it's tracks, which I don't recall was a thing back then.
no, that's definitely the case. A single purple pikmin can easily solo the waterwraith in both games.
the actual boss fight is supposed to be a joke.
it's the same as pikmin 2.
honestly hes less threatening moreso only in sfx, otherwise he's actually a bit more difficult, albeit apparently if he runs an object partially over it still kills ALL PIKMIN on all sides of the object for some ungodly reason
but yeah no hes not really a threat unless you have a dandori issue or bad spawning
This happened with some other stuff as well
>man at legs never genocided me in 2, think it never killed anything
>Mario Sunshine’s lillypad level was annoying but not too bad
>Kirby frickers always saying “True Arena ain’t for kids” yet I did it on my first or second try
>Nightmare in Metroid Fusion isn’t hard, unironically thought the 2nd security robot fight was harder
The only time I can think of where the “dread hype” truly lived up to what it was worth for Nintendo games was F-Zero GX. I completely underestimated that game, holy frick GX story mode busted my balls.
I feel like the discrepancy comes from knowing about it beforehand. Like if you're a kid experiencing those things without any prior knowledge then it might give you trouble. But going In knowing 'ok here's the part everyone says is a b***h' it preps you to be more cautious or more ready for it.
Yeah, that’s true. In 4 the disco long legs gave me the most trouble by far because I was super careless. When I looked in these threads it seems that’s the common consensus as well, a ton of people underestimated it.
finally someone else who recognizes X-B.O.X. is fricking annoying as shit, hopping fricker always dragging the fight on limiting your number of shots.
closest thing to that kind of stuff in pikmin would be honestly the pileated snagret in 2 doing a no-purple-spice run. briefly above ground only to dive back down enough times in the battle to deflower half my squad in the game where its HARD to get deflowered.
>Ask some nintendo manchild what they consider to be hard
>Get surprised when the game made for children isn’t hard
You should really harbor more hatred for these people, would do you some much-needed good and save you time
Does this not work on Ryujinx? I loaded the game on the latest build and the start menu flickers and stutters. Start menu music seems fine. Using Vulcan rending and tried docked and handheld. Do I need specific settings?
I have yuzu EA as well but generally don't use it since ryujinx works better for me.
>trivializes caves
nothing personell... kidd...
any kill counts you're proud of? i've currently got this as my larva kill count, i'm going to grind a bit more later and get it higher though
What do you achieve from grinding an enemy that can’t even produce pikmin?
Do you just do this for spite????
i don't like them.
Pikmin 4 has cute girls, Final Fantasy XVI doesn't. It was inevitable
The entire pikmin 4 cast is pinheads. I like them but they are all doofy.
They can still be cute
i want yonny to call me new blood while i pound her pussy
Is Yonny a she?
i hope so! otherwise i'm going to look stupid on the internet.
bussy
I wish the rescue corps were a stronger cast. Maybe if they had pedia entries it would help flesh them out. I feel like we only really get to know Collin and Yonny all that well.
Shepherd has unique diary entries, too.
tell me your pick man oc's lore
I finally finished the game today. 45 days to get everything finished with platinum ranks. I haven't done the Louie sidequest because it seems to be intentionally shit, in design and in reward, it's fricking with you
What did I think of it, Ganker?
>just got to 5th area
Kill louie. Behead louie. Roundhouse kick louie into the concrete. Slam dunk louie into the trashcan. Crucify filthy louie. Defecate in louie's food. Launch louie into the sun. Stir fry louie in a wok. Toss louie into active volcanoes. Urinate into louie's gas tank. Judo throw louie into a wood chipper. Twist louie's head off. Report louie to the IRS. Karate chop louie in half. Curb stomp pregnant louie. Trap louie in quicksand. Crush louie in the trash compactor. Liquefy louie in a vat of acid. Eat louie. Dissect louie. Exterminate louie in the gas chamber. Stomp louie's skull with steel toed boots. Cremate louie in the oven. Lobotomize louie. Mandatory abortions for louie. Grind louie in the garbage disposal. Drown louie in fried chocobo grease. Vaporize louie with a ray gun. Kick old louie down the stairs. Feed louie to alligators. Slice louie with a katana
Oh, it's only starting.
>silent villain trapped in a world where everyone thinks you're good
how hard do the stories get? Granted I could probably do it but I ended up failing the digging level on my first try and I don't know if I'm going to have a lot of dandori issues if I want the onions
Pretty tough but you just need to clear them for the onions, no need to go for Platinum. That shouldn't be too hard.
The only horrifically bad ones are the 3rd one and the final one with the purple onion. I managed to beat the digging one with literal 0's on the clock, but it was because I didn't dandori properly and I took too long to kill the burrownit. I straight up couldn't beat the final trial until I upgraded oatchi enough to where he was able to move the onion on his own. Everything else was challenging enough but doable after a few attempts.
Yea the digging one was my first stumble and I was playing handheld when it said "charge it right now moron" so I stopped for the moment.
I would argue that galaxy 1 is closer to 64/sunshine/odyssey but galaxy 2 is already pretty close to 3d land/world with how more restrictive things are, but officially yes they're all the 'same' and 64/sunshine/odyssey are the collectable ones
Nah both Galaxy1 and 2 are single player unless you count the pointer controls 3D platformers with dynamic camera, movements controls similar to 64 and similar navigation of the obstacles 64. Land/World games are fixed camera and the obstacles are designed much differently because of it.
>Smoky Proggs are no longer the insane optional boss they were
>Oatchi, a fricking puppy can 1v1 them and frick them up
don't they insta-kill a knoll
a lot of the bosses are much easier though yea, though the "real" versions of emperor and empress can still kill a good few if you don't go at it properly
No, they fire gloom mortars at it when aren't instantly lethal. The most dangerous enemy in night expedition is actually Baldy Long Legs which can destroy the lumiknoll is only 4-5 stomps.
>Pikmin 1-3 has small fanbase and sales numbers
>Large gaps between games
>Spin-off game on the 3DS flops
>Suddenly 3 on the Switch sells great
>4 sells gangbusters out of nowhere
PikWIN is going to save Nintendo. They don't want to ignore their smaller IPs anymore. Give it a year, Star Fox and F-Zero are coming back. Give it another. ARMS is getting a sequel, and Kid Icarus Uprising is getting a port.
I have to wonder whether Miyamoto was lying about the game being started, if Hey Pikmin was what he was doing and then said that wasn't 4 after the backlash, or if they restarted development at least once given it took 8 fricking years
Did Miyamoto even supervise Hey Pikmin?
just fought the disco spider
goty/10
didnt even care i lost 40+ to it
I will never forget the 5 rockmin lost.
Also, do you get anything for hitting platinum in all of Sage hole?
You'd think there would be more porn of the NPCs by now
Pikmin is a wholesome series, go coom to fire emblem or xenoblade or zelda
I'm just saying. I don't even jerk to it, I look for it because I get the thought of "I wonder if anyone's done anything"
>Wholesome.
>Fanbase picks fights with their fellow Nintendo fans.
Yeah, wholesome.
I can tell that the rest of this image is gross and degenerate. I really hope they stop doing this to my chocolate princess.
