Thank you, another moronic buzzword that goes to the filter.
i haven't been to Ganker in a year and this is the first post i see
am proud
MILHOUSE
I just started seeing this today and I'm already tired of it
It's entirely either Paper Mario gays mindbroken that their mandate theory is falling apart and bitter anti-Nintendo fans mad that Mario actually looks fun again and they just want to use the term to shitpost in general. "Artificial Soul" is a complete oxymoron and anybody that uses it might as well squirt lemon juice into their eyeball since it'll be the smartest thing they ever did
To be fair, the whole mario Mandate thing happened because of the bullshit the Sticker Star director spouted and all the changes in the Super Star Saga remake, coupled with a new "creative direction team" or something like that suddenly appearing in credits that never appeared in games prior
>mad that Mario actually looks fun again
2D Mario
Odyssey was fun as frick, and I loved Kingdom Battle, too. I didn't play Bowser's Fury, but by all respects that looks great as well.
thanks
Anyone played 1+2 remakes? Are there any QOL improvements or is it a straight port?
There's gyro, but it's not like Pikmin 3 Deluxes's implementation, so it's kind of sucks.
Is there pointer controls like on Wii or is it more like Gamecube?
There's pointer controls, BUT you have to hold A to activate it and it starts off where you're facing. It's really stupid.
You forgot that moving the captain still moves the cursor even while you're gyro aiming.
You're genuinely better off emulating the Wii version if you want gyro.
They're not remakes, literally just up-scaled ports of the Wii versions
Can you hack it to run different GameCube games?
Emulated with removed content.
They didn’t remove anything just reskinned it.
Olimar no longer wants to serve the Love Nugget to his wife so she'll be horny. Rather, they can "cook wonderful meals together."
Source?
"This tasty red snack isn't quite a fruit, but doesn't seem like a vegetable either. I've analyzed it extensively, and it appears to be releasing stimulating pheromones. Maybe I should feed it to my wife..."
The last part is changed to "I can imagine my wife and I cooking this into some memorable meals!" in the Switch version.
Damn, fricking bs. Glad I didn't buy.
The ports are for the people that couldn't play it on gc or wii. I'm glad that more people are able to know and play these games.
I've played the games back then and I just want to play Pikmin 4.
Is that it for textual changes?
I don't know, I'm still in the middle of playing.
Is it like that in the EU version of the originals? I know that these ports are based on them hence the change of wollywog to wollyhop
No, the EU version did have slight changes, but the fricking implication was still there.
"Pheromones" was changed to "inspire feelings of love and affection", while "feed" changed to "serve".
Okay I believe you.
This "it's based on the PAL version" shit has been brought up for previous criticisms too. When we first started seeing that the Duracell battery had been changed (along with every other licensed brand) there were people lying about how the generic rebrands we have in the Switch ports were always like that in the PAL version, which wasn't true. Just a knee-jerk lie stated as facts for reasons that don't make any sense unless they're literal shills paid to damage control.
>This "it's based on the PAL version" shit has been brought up for previous criticisms too
I was only saying it because I've only ever played the US versions and wouldn't no what is and isn't new since it's the PAL version
but it uses the item locations of the US NTSC versions. It's so fricking weird and I have no idea why they did it like this for the items that don't need changes due to branding.
I played the games in German and the creatures got different names. I never noticed the change until I've seen some post complaining about it. Censorship is sometimes really stupid.
The ports are based on the PAL versions.
It wasn't changed, you're just American.
No, see
They also changed the marijuana leaf and "hot singles in your area" spam. While these are the only ones I know of so far, I really wouldn't be shocked if they censored some of the other adult jokes/references.
>marijuana leaf
Post pics
if you're making a joke, it was a little bit funny. good punchline.
if you meant the original here
lol they really did this? I just thought anon didn't know what a Japanese maple leaf looked like
Olimar and Louie probably smoked the frick outta that thing the night they went into orbit
>when the Arboreal Frippery hits and you become extremely existential
we need a normal green pikmin that's just full of THC and if it gets eaten enemies become confused and slowed, but also hungrier.
And they also laugh a lot more and find mundane things much more interesting
>dude greens lmao
Songs were removed.
Asside from the easter egg with 20 of each type, how were you able to listen the songs? You can just hear them on youtube, if you want.
Why do that when emulating on PC has everything intact plus it looks and runs better? Nintendo is selling an inferior product compared to what we've been able to play for free for years now. They didn't add anything to make it worth picking up, just removed stuff.
Gamecube/Wii Emulation was much slower back then. Had many tries to make games run on my PC, but they always crashed or were laggy. The PAL version of Pikmin 1 and 2 released much earlier.
Later I played 2 on Dolphin because of the custom textures and better resolution. Most people of the current generation are tech illiterates. That's why emulation doesn't take so many sales.
Only one of the songs was in the game, and it was only a few bars being "sung".
It's not emulation in the traditional sense. It's running natively on code. Only the visuals and sound are emulated.
I finished Pikmin 1 last night, controls feel nice but AI was still moronic
>controls feel nice but AI was still moronic
I feel like the terrible pikmin AI adds charm but maybe that's cope. they feel way too smart in pikmin 3
I prefer it in 3 where they feel like you're both codependent on each other but can still operate separately, meanwhile in 1 you can't walk 5 steps without 20 of them getting distracted by grass or doing a dive off a bridge into water. Though I guess 2 is a nice middle ground if you think they're too smart in 3.
idk i think it's fricking hilarious when your pikmin tries to carry something mid boss fight or when a cutscene plays at the worst possible times. pikmin is a funny ass game
The number of times I've had pikmin die due to them throwing themselves directly at danger for no reason is higher than it had any right being
Wii versions of the games with standard (read: MUCH BETTER) controls.
Actual camera control
I'm on my second playthrough of 1. It's kino.
lol I can tell thats the macarena
do zoomies know bout that?
I wish they hadn't remapped the original c stick to L+Stick, it makes it way harder to condense your squad onto Olimar for nectar/fast throwing. Other than that, solid port. Haven't played 2 HD yet.
Shame the physical copies of 1/2 are so far out. Frick digital, need physical to share with my nephew.
wow i cant wait to pay full price for old ports
>pay
I want to marry her.

Lmaoing @ you, only issue with mine is that I need to replace the battery
>what is yuzu
There are options for people that missed the V1
>no portability

Doesn't it work on phones now?
Steam Deck at the very least.
>just spend 500 bucks for a Steam Cuck
>just spend 1000 bucks for a phone that can run it
switch is uncrackable
Mine is.
Yes because it's a V1, see here
>mine didnt cost that much!
Yes because you got it early
you gonna act dumb some more feel free
Works for me
i accept your concession
That wasn't even me.
True, that was me
Why are there so many of us in literally one single Ganker thread with easily hacked Switches?
I like video games so i bought it at launch, i also like to mod and push hardware to its limits
yours too
i accept everybody's concession
I accept taco concession stands
>paying
>not just stealing
Are V1's of an early period still lucrative?
To sell? yes
we all know you are too poor to afford games, anon. who are you trying to fool?
Just buy more copies of Dragon's Dogma to even it out.
You HAVE updated your Pikmin 3 Switch icon, right bros?
Quick rundown?
I only have the Wii U version
My body is ready
How the hell has their never been a Pikmin knock off game on PC?
sounds like it would've been trash
There is
nothing like pikmin it's a platformer
It's similar enough I played through it all earlier this year.
There has been.
Didn't the guys who made that Majora's Mask animation make one for PlayStation? Or am I thinking of something else.
theres one with monkeys on PS2 i think
Because PC has actual good RTS games.
Most modern RTS games are rushed.
good lord that 1+2 box art is soulless
Yeah they used the lame Japanese cover for all regions
even the pikmin 2 JP box used the clay models, here we're stuck with lifeless 3D renders
also the new logo is absolutely painful
Is this the first time where Japan had the worst boxart?
The Canadian boxart is kino
Just the euro version without the subtle bulborb.
AAAAAH FRICK THAT'S HORRIFYING
Now I want a PAL version just for that box art
It is there, just even more subtle
I like how Canada got it's own box art for Pikmin 2, but the new play control release uses the NA box art. Do any other games have Canada exclusive box art?
Hard to say, I'm sure they exist but it's the only one I know of. I was hunting eBay for a copy of Pikmin 2, saw some cool NTSC copies that had a different boxart from what I played on the Wii and they cost about the same.
Japan really loves their homies in a line.
1+2 on switch is good, but I'm a little disappointed that they didn't end up remaking them in the 3 engine, or unreal engine since that's apparently what 4 runs in
Maybe when the Switch 2 comes out they'll port the entire series to UE5. That would be a marvelous collection.
>Maybe when the Switch 2 comes out they'll port the entire series to UE5
anon we will be lucky if the switch 2 is backwards compatibility with the switch, why do you think that they will do more that what they already did?
do we know who developed the remakes for 1+2
I'm going to assume that it's just Nintendo since they're just ports and not remakes.
yeah but they redid the controls. also it's not being emulated from what I understand so they needed to port the source code. some development work was done
>half-emulated ala Galaxy in 3DAS
>replaced textures for branded items to avoid paying rights
Definitely NERD. Seems like they finally got their own Dolphin going, in a way. Hopefully they actually utilise it instead of just these two instances.
I'd pay $25 for a Chibi Robo port.
>3 Deluxe
>mobile game
>extensive 4 coverage
>1+2 remaster
Nintendo really wants Pikmin to be succesful all of a sudden, uh?
If after all this shilling 4 doesn't blow up like Kirby on Switch it's going to be a big disappointment.
they did the same thing with Metroid
one game sells well and then nintendo execs make the devs shit out a game in the same series shortly after (Prime Remaster after Dread sold well for example)
You really think the Prime remaster was done that quickly, huh?
>nintendo makes all games in a series available on their console
>tendies shit their pants
>Rock barely gets cut off on the screen to the right of the dog
It's like Luigi in Mario Party 9
These games are so arcadey that it's really nice to have them all so easily playable on a handheld, and the gyro controls make me really happy since health issues make pointer controls really tiresome for me to use.
Pikmin will never be the next Mario like Miyamoto wants it to be but I'm glad it's in a healthy enough place that we can expect a new game on every system.
Series doesn't deserve the good treatment over other more deserving IPs
>more deserving IPs
such as?
The ones I like, obviously.
No Nintendo IP deserves this treatment more than Pikmin
It would be too based if Nintendo kept giving other IPs a chance. Especially if Pikmin goes well.
Don't RTSgays hate Halo Wars?
no, but we hate Star Wars Episode The Gungan Frontier.
dungeon keeper exists happily side-by-side pikmin how could you do this to us
>give more attention to mario platforming game #351 or legend of zelda 13: tale of the golden tendies
cope & seethe. pikmin games are one of the few good things to come out of nintendo in the past decade
Saying it again, still mad that 3 hasn't gotten a price cut so I can cheaply own all of them on switch. I'm too israeli to drop $60 on 3 again.
newbie here. Should I dip for Pikmin 4 or play them in order? I dont have enough money for all of them and I would use the remaning voucher I have after I got TOTK.
Wait until 4 comes out, 1 is short and simple so if you're that poor then you can watch a LP of it.
just pirate the games and play them in order.
the first two games still hold up very well.
3 is the most approachable and the most similar to 4 in terms of visuals and playability. It's a great ride with a fair whack of content, I'd say just start with 3 if you can't play them all.
just emulate it on dolphin. Try it out for yourself to see if you like it. It's super easy(tutorials online). use vi m m s (no spaces) lair to install the rom for 1 and 2.
> One is short, simple and fun.
>2 I haven't played that much.
> 3 is really fun, really pretty, 3 captains is cool, pink and rock pikmin are good additions (not busted like purple)
enjoy and godspeed brother
Pink was nice, but they were still a bit overkill. Wound up using then the most because they can ignore most of the map and the enemies.
Rock are so great, an instant favourite for me. Helps that they look adorable.
wait is 1 and 2 getting a physical release?
Yep, in September.
Now we need to get 3 games until we can get Pikmin 8
What do you think "Item" could be?
Obviously there's Ultra-Spicy spray. I guess they could bring back Ultra-Bitter spray, but I can't think of any consumables that could really be given out
A day voucher that lets you have more pikmin out at once, even going beyond 100?
It would be so funny to turn an armored canon beetle into dust.
I refuse to believe they'll bring back Bitter Spray, at least not without some enormous nerfs. It's way too ridiculous
>bitter spray
I remember farming for (in game) days for the purple berry just to get 30+ sprays for dream den
Ice Pikmin basically are bitter spray aren't they?
They gave purps the stun again. Bitter spray could easily come back.
>finish pikmin 1
>find the 30 day limit slightly stressful for first time play, but come to peace with it as I get through the game, and find that it pushes me to take each day seriously.
>try to keep pikmin alive best I can because I don't want to waste a day just restocking them
>start Pikmin 2
>infinite time to do anything
>caves stop time
I was told for decades that 2 is the best one, but so far it's just a simplified experience. This better get better soon.
I still think 2 would be better with both a day limit and the caves being either shorter or having some type of limit of their own aside from randomly falling bomb rocks
You can ignore the time limit in 1. The game can easily be completed in 15-16 days.
This. On my first playtrough I got to day 23. Then I finished at day 16 on my second play.
Seen some people struggling with the limit but that is rare.
I israelite both approaches. 1 is a desperate attempt to get the hell out of dodge, while 2 has a sense of "frick it, I'm not totally opposed to dying with these little guys."
The big issue with 2 is that it leads to a super degenerate playstyle of
>Park your Pikmin at the entrance of a level
>Go solo it and pop all the traps as Olimar
>Go back and clean it up with your Pikmin
Add onto the fact that you're heavily, heavily encouraged to reset if you lose a single Purple Pikmin, it's just tedious.
>he actually did this
>he didn’t dived in blind and losing almost all your Pikmin through trial and error
>he didn’t let all his Pikmin get eaten by bulborb larvae
>he didn’t let his Pikmin die by the water wraith
Like I said, it devolves into that. You start playing it like normal, and then you realise you're better off just soling with Olimar, because the random traps aren't worth dealing with.
And then even if you kept every single Purple alive, you still have to farm more at the end. Tedium.
>farm purples
I’ll give you that
I hated this, such a drag, and it’s funny since the cave with the most purple spawns is the water wraith cave, and that itself is a pain and when I would solo as olimar
2 is a slog if you play this cautiously, but you really don't need to.
>but you really don't need to.
I mean it's really the only way to deal with the end game bullshit the game throws at you. Random bombs and bomb dweevils falling from the sky, rocks everywhere, fricking dropping bulbears.
There's a point in the game where you should be ready for traps any time you pick up a treasure, you've got enough time to run from a bomb, and if you're paying attention you can easily move out of the way of a falling rock. If my most recent playthrough is any indication, the bulbear trap only happens once and it's telegraphed by the treasure radar.
The only thing I'd call unfair bullshit is the rocks that land in front of empress bulblax in that one cave.
The issue is that the game heavily encourages such a conservative playstyle because of how devastating it is to lose a single Purple.
Resetting because of some random bullshit, or doing yet another complete run of the Wraith cave is even more of a slog.
This
Earlier I was playing 2 and a couple things happened to me
>Electricity killed like 75 of my blues at once in a cave
Holy shit! Well that's devestating but I can rebuild from that. I wanna play fair after all
>An enemy knocked 10 of my purples into a pit
Well it's either reset or go on another Submerged Castle run. I feel bad about it but I gotta save scum.
I'm not too keen on purples and whites needing candypop buds in this game. It's just way too punishing
Also like are caves gonna be a huge mechanic in this game? It seems to be more about the wide-expanse of the surface with caves being an afterthought. I feel like the problem might be even worse in this game
You fell for the meme
>simplified experience
Pikmin 2 has 3x more enemy variety than Pikmin 1. There are 200 Treasures to collect compare to the 30 (ship parts). Yes, majority of the game take place in caves and makes up majority of the game, but the overworld map sizes are just as big as Pikmin 1.
Man I never knew how much a single homosexual youtuber can sway the fanbase. Then again, pikmin 2 came out in 2004.
>but there’s a billion enemies and treasures
Pikmin 1 is better because it’s focusing on time management and planning
2’s larger focus on combat was bad because the combat system is incredibly barebones
>Pikmin 1 is better because it’s focusing on time
Why are you so obsessed with time? Pikmin 3 had a time limit, but almost impossible to lose with infinite fruits. But because there was a auto lose function, that gets a pass.
Pikmin 2 has time management and planning.
>day/night system
>limited resources (amount of pikmin) in caves (definitely needs planning)
>overworld regresses over time (bridges gets undone)
>you mess up in caves, you have to do it again by save scumming or a 2nd trip.
> combat system is incredibly barebones
Okay your a liar. Did you forget spicy sprays? Or maybe did you forget the combat system revolves around dealing with different type of enemies? Also who in the right mind would prefer a pikmin game with less enemy variety?
The time during days, you twit
You’re heavily encouraged to plan out your days and get as much done as possible within the time limit if the days
Time limit > improved ai, 2 captains, more enemies/treasures, caves, etc.
I get it get it, pikmin 1 is your favorite, but it doesn't mean it's objectively better.
It is objectively better
Better world design and it’s thanks to the lack of awful caves
More enemies means jack shit when they’re barely different to fight
>when they're barely different to fight
So pikmin 1 has the same problem? Just keep believing your lies or maybe play 2 for once before you parrot your zoomer youtubers. I heard it's available on the switch now.
Pikmin 1 focuses on utilising the timer during the day to multitask in order to get as much done as possible, it’s not just about fighting enemies
Having more enemies that are barely different wouldn’t effect anything
3’s also good because it follows this
>TIME IS GOOD
You know pikmin 2 has more multitasking than 1 because you can control 2 captains. That opens a entire world on strategy and planning. On top of that, Pikmin 2 focused more on resource (pikmin) management than time. So both games have different focus, which is okay. You like a sense of urgency with a time limit which is why you like 1, doesn't mean it's objectively better. Also
>3’s also good because it follows this
3 was piss easy and I doubt any toddler struggled running out of juice. Heck, it had no purpose. It would be saying if 2 had a 99 day limit, you would like 2 as well because of the "timer".
It has 2 captains but it never forced you to multitask with them
At most youre breaking down one wall while doing other things. 3 does it better
Also, I’m taking about the timer during the day, and not just the overall time limit. I’m getting sick of repeating this, as I’ve made it clear multiple times, yet you’ve ignored that multiple times for some reason.
Just because your forced/encouraged to do something, it doesn't mean it's better. You don't need to multi task that hard to get 1 ship part a day.
>At most youre breaking down one wall while doing other things.
Your a liar, did you forget about strategically positioning your captains? How about 1, you only got 1 captain, so according to you, it's even worse.
>I’m taking about the timer during the day
Which pikmin 2 and all the games have? I don't get what your trying to say? Have you ever tried to do multiple cave trips in one day? Gosh you seem to love the timer, that alone doesn't make a good game.
>200 treasures to collect
>this includes junk that can be carried by 1 pikmin
>majority of treasures comes from caves and is impossible to miss, typically just laying in the middle of your path
>you don't even really have to collect them since the goal is money, which is also obtainable from killing enemies
>more enemy designs, but it's all still "spam A to win"
>doesn't even matter if you fight efficiently because you can jusy spend a day or two replenishing pikmin
>caves are just hallway/corridor experiences
Honestly the only thing I feel pikmin does better is giving me a second captain to control, and added white pikmin along with poison. Electric gates instead of bomb rock gates feels like a step back, too.
I also don't care for purple pikmin. I think they're too overpowered. The series would be better off without purple and pink pikmin, but at the end of the day these overpowered units are popular with kids.
>too overpowered.
it takes time to amass 100 purple pikmin, you have to go out of your way to farm them in that one cave. once you do, you're awarded with a very fun way to annihilate creatures.
it's like any other game, your character gets stronger and that's fun.
You don't need 100 to be overpowered. They're overkill from the start, letting you carry things with only a few pikmin while you continue in with your horde of 90 remaining pikmin. Then using them in combat makes them do insane damage when they land on enemies. Rocks are much better take on the idea.
How can one anon be so moronic.
You actually got memed by a vocal minority that’s scared of timers
Never listen to people who like 2 the most
Threadly reminder that anti-cavegays lost.
But we didn't, they made caves actually interesting instead of shitty corridors from the way the trailers look
I've had Pikmin 3 Deluxe since it was released but never got around to playing.
With 4 on the way I suppose I better get a move on.
it's not like they are going to run out of copies of 4 anon
you don't have to consoom as soon as something releases, play at your own pace
This is really good advice, anon.
I just wanted to say, Pikmin 3 was a very pleasent game. I enjoyed it as much if not more than the original.
Can you play these without using joycons or are you forced to use motion controls?
Yes, you can turn off motion controls.
When Pikmin 3 Deluxe released, they added a local co-op mode to the main game. Do the switch ports of 1 + 2 add any additional content like that?
How do I get into this franchise? Is it worth playing from 1 or is it one of those "don't bother just start with 3" franchises?
>How do I get into this franchise?
you play
the games
I started with 3 but you could really go either way tbh. it isn't that important.
probably start with 1+2 bundle
Play them in order
start with 1
gameplay holds up well and you'll appreciate the sequels more
Start with whichever looks more interesting between 3 and 1
All of them are good
each game has a different objective, and different types of restrictions. they're all different enough that they all warrant a full play through, 1 is the least polished, when it comes to pikmin a.i, so i'd recommend starting there, to ease potential frustrations.
>fire pikmin dungeon on the stove
Holy shit this is just like my fan fics I did when I was 12
I don't like how clean all the houses look in 4. I always thought the Earth treasures were supposed to be old
So far I've only played 2 when I was younger, so that was the one I bought to play again on the Switch.
Does 3 have the limit like 1 did, or are you free to frick about like 2?
Pikmin 3 has a time limit that grows as you collect fruit. It gets easy after you have a ton of juice.
3 sorta has a time limit but it's pretty inconsequential. As long as you play at even a moderate pace you'll never run out of juice
Though I feel that way for the first game as well. It's really not hard at all to get all 30 treasures in Pikmin 1 with time to spare unless you spend days accomplishing nothing. The fun is more about how fast you can do it rather than actually risking a game over.
I am anticipating a 'There Will Come Soft Rains' type setting for the PNF-404.
All the abandoned technology and infrastructure is rebuilding itself without realizing humans are long gone. They may also tie the idea to older Pikmin concepts like Man-At-Legs.
I mean I really doubt there is gonna be something to explain or justify it. 2 and 3 already had areas like this, albeit limited to dungeon floors and challenge stages.
This is the first time it's an actual area in the game.
In every Pikin thread the last few months I've been saying I hope they'd put 1 + 2 on the BC online store or remaster them. I am definitely happy this will all be on the switch so my kids can experience them together.
I'm pretty damn happy too. I let my older brother borrow my gamecube and games including pikmin 1 and 2 so that my nephew could play them. A year later when I asked about the gamecube, he tells me that he sold it. The guy doesn't understand why I was pissed, especially when he's more well off than me.
> A year later when I asked about the gamecube, he tells me that he sold it.
What a piece of shit
Also there was a gameplay video on the JP website that confirmed that the Charge function is back in 4, though I don't think there was really any doubt. They revamped it pretty heavily in the 3DX port and it worked much better there.
Got that pre-order in yet Ganker?
Preorderd at fricking GameStop months ago. Didn't see anything about keychains.
It’s EU only
Best we get is a fricking water bottle at wal mart
pikmin 4 is one of the only tendie games left i actually genuinely care about and i'm still pirating it and playing it in yuzu or ryujinx or something lol. anyone who willingly gives nintendo money for dogshit like the switch in 2017 + 6 needs to be euthanized
Nice blog, poorgay
even if i was a scumfrick billionaire i'd still pirate it 10 billion times just to bankrupt nintendo B)
did they change it to the new soulless logo in-game or did they just change it on the switch home screen? it's still gay either way but i'm questioning the purpose of this at all other than stupid corporate brand standardization garbage. am i allowed to blame pikmin bloom for this?
What compels emulatorgays to claim they do it every single day with every single game? Good for you I guess. No one fricking cares about your blogposts, homosexuals.
Just trying to teach tendies there are much better ways to play the games, for free even. In a way we're trying to help you have a better experience and life
Trolling. How naive are you?
Where’s this?
I need to get a new key ring since my pikmin 3 was is scratched and damaged to frick
holy SOVL
You know it.
It's great to have all of the main Pikmin games on one system that will hopefully be compatible on Switch 2.
By the way, everyone sell your GameCube/Wii copies now before the physical drops in September. You're sure to get more than $50 this way, and you'll get better versions of the games on a console you're actually playing on.
>tfw I started to get interested in the series
>have a voucher to use on Pikmin 4
>Don't have cash for Pikmin 1,2 & 3
>mfw
I got comfy with the series at a bad time. The Pikmin 3 demo can only hold me for so long.
What the frick are vouchers? I keep seeing people bring it up.
They’re bonuses when you buy stuff from the Nintendo store (I think)
You think poorly
Mostly what
says, but it's worth noting that it only works on non-bundled games that are worth $50 or more (might actually start at $40). I couldn't use one on FF Pixel Remaster because it's considered a bundle of games. So, I turned to piracy and homebrew.
It's a nice little deal. I used one to get Advance Wars 1+2 Reboot, and then later redeemed the other one for TotK. I plan to have Pikmin 4 on my legit firmware. So, I'll probably do it again for Pikmin 4 and grab Metroid Dread or Link's Awakening.
Nintendo should seriously stop being homosexuals and let us pick selected bundles with our vouchers or do special offerings from other games that aren't Nintendo published once a month or something. Vouchers on paper is good but is still very limited with what we can do with them.
You can spend 100 bucks if you have the online to redeem for any two 1st party games.
Instead of spending 70 bucks on ToTK and then 60 on this, I spent 100 outright to get both
If you have an active NSO, not the free version, you can purchase x2 vouchers for $99.98. you can you those vouchers to pick any first party game from Nintendo. I bought my set like many others to technically buy TotK for cheaper. You save about $20 this way, in my case I saved $30 with TotK and Pikmin 4. No taxes too
If you have a Costco membership you can get $100 Nintendo eshop money for $90. Essentially making your games $45 each.
That sounds pretty banger but I don't think there's a Costco where I live. Hell, I don't even have FRICKING GAMESTOPs on here. Best bet would be a BestBuy for me, since I think they sometimes fo special sells on Nintendo cards. But the nearest one to me is about an hour+ away.
It's more for Japan really, since their prices are less set. XBC2 was brought a lot with the first set of vouchers, because it was like $120 in JP
I want to start a Pikmin stuffed toy collection!
It’s funny how easy the bosses are, in 3 at least. But getting platinum on some of these treasure and enemy missions is hard as frick.
Oh yeah forgot we are also getting a Pikmin 4 demo early next week too. So that's something
Has everyone here gotten platinum on all missions?
>blue, yellow, red in the same order with the same bloom levels
>Pikmin 2 art has the order reversed
What did they mean like this
It has the same reasoning as 2 and 4’s logos having the flower colours match the new pikmin but 3’s logo has red flowers for some reason
>Pikmin 3 just updated with the new soulless logo
Shame
For once I agree. Don't really like the new logo and I barely had enough time with the old one
Why did they think getting rid of the floarl logo was a good idea?
Scales better. That's the design philosophy of all modern dogshit logos.
>Scales better
How? Just make a high quality floral logo.
You have to render it for multiple screen sizes. They're not going to bother when majority of people won't care.
>You have to render it for multiple screen sizes.
the only two sizes it should have to scale to are 720p and 1080p, they're doing it because they just want all the game logos to be uniform and they went with a simpler logo for Pikmin 4.
As someone who was going to get into this series with the switch versions and hates nintendo's shit mandates I'm just going to pirate the GC versions on my wii. Fricking hell mario mandate dies so now this fricking crap spawns into existence, retroactively remocing soul from games. Dogshit.
why, for what purpose
autism
WHERE THE Black person ARE THE BULBMINS
I WANT BULBMINS AAAIIIEEEEEEEE
I don't think they're gonna be in cause isn't Oatchi more or less a rideable bulbmin
I think they actually make perfect sense to be in this game because of the pikmin type limit
Since you’ll never be able to cover all hazards with just 3 types having bulbmin in caves could be a very valuable resource and seems like a logical inclusion
Well when you put it that way It makes sense. Honestly with all the returning enemies in this game and caves it does seem likely for them to return.
Kino time.
Have fun, I've been going through 2 myself recently
Beat 1, skipping 2, playing 3
But why
2 looks like poo
>skipping 2
Zoomer moment
Makes sense to go 1 > 3 > 2 > 4 for gameplay reasons.
Your loss.
>have to wait september 21th to get 1+2 physical
???
>have to wait indefinitely for the 1+2+3D+4 physical pack
Black person it took them 12 years to put out a proper sequel to your game, how are they being “good” to you
It's a niche series.
You appreciate what you get.
I never played any of the switch pikmin games, are motion controls forced or can I use a pro controller?
I'm playing Pikmin 1 right now.
By default it uses normal controls and you can enable motion controls in the options.
Just finished the Pikmin 1 port today, very excited to fire up 2 and play it on handheld mode. This is one of my all time favorite games. Ah... and let's not forget, there's a demo for 4 coming out in just 4 days now. Life, for once, is good for us Pikmin fans.
>tfw I technically never finished Pikmin 2 despite collecting all the treasures and such
>tfw it was always a hardware problem
>tfw my 8 year old self never understood the blue screen
>tfw I will never get the last cutscene
You will never know true pain
I still haven’t beaten Pikmin 2 because I got to the floor of the hole of heroes that has a pileated snagret and I just haven’t bothered to fight it
>he's getting himself hyped up for Pikmin 4 instead of Pikmin: The After Years
NGMI...
I think I found out the identity of the mysterious olimar-looking red pikmin!
The doomsday apparatus existing makes 2 less fun for me
Good thing it's optional and not a requirement to beat the game.
Zoomer here
Just finished Pikmin 1 in a few hours, with 10 days to spare.
It was great actually, tight experience, I might play it again in a few years to see if I can be even faster.
How is 2, better or worse ?
It depends on what you liked from 1
If you liked the pressure of the time limit it’ll probably be worse since it’s a less tight experience but if you liked the general gameplay more and didn’t care for the time limit you’ll probably like 2 more
Still a fantastic game though either way so go into it with an open mind
Very nice to hear
>how’s 2
Imo, it’s the greatest thing Nintendo has shat out that decade
Immersive, full of soul and it’s fun
A couple of things that ruin the experience such as caves stopping time and maybe this
, but Pikmin 2 is an underrated game that gets overshadowed by other games like sunshine and prime
>How is 2, better or worse?
Just play it and form your own opinions before you get spoiled.
2 vs 1 has been divisive for years
its different, some people prefer 2, others prefer 1.
if you liked the game being a time managment rts with some enemies, you'll like 1 more. If you want the game to be an action game but you have to control a crowd, you'll like 2 more.
>2 vs 1 has been divisive for years
No it hasn't. We always loved 1 & 2, it was only until 3 came out where we got zoomer youtubers who voice their shitty taste. Also pikmin 2 enjoyers also like 3. It's only people who love 3 that shits on 2.
Don’t speak for everyone
He speaks for me.
2 is a slog because the ship doesn't shut the frick up.
But that’s what gives it soul
I was disappointed in 3, and loved 1 and 2.
3 was mind-numbingly easy and straightforward.
4 looks great though
>Silver Lake Remix
I can’t do it bros…
Alright Ganker, do I buy a voucher and buy both 3 and 4 so I can have the full series on switch, or should I just buy 4 and emulate 3 on Deck?
Why are zoomers so fricking stupid? How do they even breathe?
>zoomers
Why does Ganker always forget that most zoomers probably grew up playing these games on wii? This is just the average twitter user being moronic.
t. Zoomer who grew up playing Pikmin
>most zoomers probably grew up playing these games on wii?
I doubt "most zoomers" ever touched a pikmin game ever
most skillful twitter video game player
Anon, I'm sure most of us discovered that non-blue pikmin couldn't swim the hard way when we were kids. We just didn't have social media to post our moronation.
I just assumed so by default it was color coded since reds are fire resistant and blues start near water
There were no fire hazards in the beginning. But you do encounter water first when you have both the reds and yellows. You were expected to attempt to enter the water with red/yellow pikmin and discover that they couldn't swim.
You don't get Blue Pikmin till way after you've got Red
I read the manual and knew they couldn't swim
Cute!
You've gotta learn somehow, and tripping will be the next thing he learns. To be fair, they're plant people, water should be some degree of okay
Holy shit, this guy is great. Fun watching someone discover this kinda bullshit for the first time
https://twitter.com/nosushi_/status/1672382988221562882?s=20
dude's gonna be a mess after pikmin 2
This will be kino. I like how everyone says Pikmin 2 is easier because of the removed time limit. But everything else is unforgiving.
>Him/they
>20
Not even once with these homosexuals
They gotta have a piklopedia in the base game this time right? With the insane amount of enemies this time around?
Where did you find that image?
https://www.nintendo.com/jp/character/pikmin/index.html
Thank you
thank god miyamoto's autism died and we can get actual video games from nintendo
what does this even mean
if it wasnt for miyamoto's autism this series would never have seen even a 3rd entry, hes almost certainly the sole reason the games keep going
Miyamoto is probably the one pushing so hard for this series. He REALLY wants this seires to be as big as Mario, of course that'll never happen.
Miyamoto is the only reason Pikmin wasn't shitcanned after the first two were only cult classics
Miyamoto's autism is the only reason pikmin is alive. He's a cancer for everything else, except this series.
Should I play Pikmin on my switch or WIi U?
Wii U textures look better I think I remember. Plus the gamepad's map is better than switch to the map constantly on switch. Unless you want co op campaign
>Pikmin 4 has forced diversity
have a nice day, homosexual tendie.
I'm looking forward to Pikmin 1+2 though.
trying too hard
>trying too hard
Trying what too hard? I'm being serious.
>no one responding to my posts about 3’s mission mode
You shitters didn’t get a single platinum, did you?
Sorry I didn't anon, I hated how majority of 3's content was just missions while the campaign was short. Felt more like an arcade experience than an adventure, to me at least. I hope they can integrate mission mode levels into the campaign in the next game because they were neat.
As someone who never had someone to play the multi-player mode in Pikmin, it's cool that they integrated it into the story mode as a side challenge.
It seems like they might have, since you can accept side missions from castaways.
But yeah I think Pikmin 3s most interesting gameplay is in the challenge mode. You could spend more time in there than the actual game.
It's funny to me to see people say this, I thoroughly enjoyed 3's campaign and I thought it ended right as I'd had my fill. The campaign was really fun, it had a tonne of wonderful and interesting moments with the puzzles and the bosses, and it ended on a great high with a cool final mission.
I played the mission modes for a while and got a bunch of platinum medals, but I wasn't really into the time trial nature of it, and I'd more or less had my fill, so I left it at that. I really don't need Pikmin to be a 30 or 40hr game, a 10ish hour Pikmin 4 sounds good to me. (No reason they can't add additional challenge missions for people who do want more, of course)
Pikmin 3 felt like one giant tutorial, once we got blue pikmin the game was almost done. Back when I was a kid playing 2, I honestly thought paying off the debt & leaving Louie behind was the ending with the credits and all. Then I was shocked when the 2nd half of the game begins.
I got every platinum and just as an extra frick you to the game I also got platinums in co-op mode without a partner
pikmin 3's missions were better than the actual game.
Main game was too streamlined.
>Pikmin 4 will be the true sequel to 2
>Pikmin 2: 2
>2+2=4
No one knows what it's like to be hated.
Why'd you post a blank image?
this game wasnt that bad tbh, not great either though
it has some really nice songs though, ravaged rustworks is one my favorite songs in the whole series
Pikmin's Federation Force. A fine game fricked by relation and being the newest game in a long gone series.
I played the demo and thinking it felt like an even slower Yoshi game
Also the premise of another planet with Pikmin and Earth relics was really stupid
Good game.
But, when it came without a proper Pikmin game in so long, it was never going to get a happy reception.
>1+2 still run at 30fps on switch
why did I buy this
>missed a plat because of glitched pathing on a raspberry
FRICK
Pikmin. The greatest "Who Asked For This?" series right next to Fire Emblem.
are the first two games worth thirty bucks? I hear that they are pretty short
pikmin 1 is like luigi's mansion in that it's a short gamecube tech demo that's really replayable, 2 is long as hell if you go after every single treasure and there's challenge mode + 2-player battle mode on top of that. i love both games to death but i wouldn't pay $50 for them unless i already owned a switch and really wanted a physical copy for some reason
Happy for pikmin fans but never cared for the series tbh
I see this sentiment a lot and I don't know why. Pikmin is like the only Nintendo IP I see inspire apathy or even outright revulsion. Is it the timer in 1? The way Pikmin die? I just don't know.
As someone who recently got into the series, I was reluctant to bite because RTS style micromanagement gameplay just didn’t seem like it would have the inherent tactile enjoyment or progression style satisfaction. Demo sold me
It's a series that's pretty weird and it's hard to grasp if you're not already a fan.
Before I picked it up again during lockdown my only memories of the game were struggling with the original on the GameCubes launch and not getting past Forest Navel. Seeing Pikmin threads with everyone talking about minmaxing their in-game time and posting their favorite weird insects was like being a grandfather trying to understand the kids talking about Monster Hunter or Pokemon, its all gibberish. And at least with those series the creatures are cool or cute so the surface level appeal is more apparent, a Beady Long Legs or Breadbug are tougher sells.
I absolutely love the series now and I'm one of those people but not everyone is gonna immerse themselves in that world. Tack on all the memes surrounding the YouTube Muppet and it's easy to make fun of.
I hate that muppet like you wouldn’t believe
I haven't watched that homosexual in years, I fricked off when he kept talking about all of these games he didn't play like the original Metroid. I've probably played more on my switch alone than that dork has in his entire lifetime.
>I see this sentiment a lot and I don't know why. Pikmin is like the only Nintendo IP I see inspire apathy or even outright revulsion. Is it the timer in 1? The way Pikmin die? I just don't know.
Outside of speedrunning Pikmin's skill ceiling isn't that high, but the skill floor is probably the highest of any Nintendo franchise that still gets games. There's a lot of stuff you need to learn the hard way in these games, like the fact your Pikmin die if they go in water, that electric things kill pikmin instantly, all the random traps, etc. A lot of people don't have the patience for this stuff.
I'm not sure but I feel like Pikmin is Nintendo's least popular active franchise by far.
It seems so small and I'm not sure why
And the greatest enigma of all is why they made Pikmin Bloom for a series this unpopular
To boost popularity and because Miyamoto thinks it's his baby
pikmin is autistic, but in a strictly different flavor compared to other nintendo franchises.
pikmin autism is different from pokemon autism, animal crossing autism, mario, zelda, etc.
RTS with a controller sounds terrible, it's honestly magic how good they made it feel for Pikmin, especially 3D.
To be fair Pikmin controls very differently to a lot of other RTS games so that’d play a part in it
>brand new level
>accidentally throw a pikmin over a wall with zero chance of recovery
that's some bullshit
rip little dude
I think people may be overthinking why Pikmin isn't popular. It's an RTS. Yeah, it's simplified, but it's a very niche genre. An RTS is never going to be popular no matter what Nintendo does or how they market it.
That explains why it's not popular, but the internet and gamer culture surrounding it feels a bit different to me.
I don't play StarCraft or Dune but I know what makes them good and why people like them. There's a pretty vocal group of people that see Pikmin as nothing but Miyamoto's ego trip and passionately hate it.
That’s the curse of being a first party game. You get increased sales, but you also get morons whining that it’s one less game in X franchise. Happens whether it’s a niche or popular IP
To be fair, and I say this as a huge Pikmin fan, they're not entirely wrong. It is shocking how much support Pikmin gets with how unpopular it is, and you could argue that's Miyamoto's bias. Pikmin is about to get its 4th big budget mainline game in 22 years. Compare that to stuff like Metroid Prime, Starfox or F-zero.
I also kind of get the same feeling with Paper Mario (and hey I'm also a huge Paper Mario fan!) where it gets way more high quality games than you would expect with its sales. Although I think Paper Mario at least has a chance to catch on.
That's really not fair, Anon.
>Metroid Prime
They've been trying to make Prime 4 since basically the start of the Switch, and it seems like it's just been a giant mess across two studios.
They did Samus Returns, and Dread and gave an amazing remake of Prime 1. You can't say you're hurting for Metroid games, or that Nintendo has abandoned it.
>Star Fox
No easy direction to take it in, similar to the situation Advance Wars is in. Rail shooters are one of the most outdated genres, and it's just hard to justify one at all these days with so many games offering freeform exploration and flight.
The last time they tried a standard Star Fox game failed. They've tried to change directions with it twice, and they tried that Ambiibo type game, and neither went anywhere. You could say returning to the (more popular) Pokemon Snap was them testing the waters here again, and well, when was the last time you heard about Pokemon Snap?
>F-Zero
They TRIED. They made a full, expensive AAA F-Zero game, they marketed the shit out of it, and they even made an anime to tie into it. They pushed the absolute hell out of F-Zero to try make it a tent pole franchise.
And it flopped. I don't think it even sold more than the previous entry. And you know what didn't flop? Mario Kart. People kept buying that, even as distributors sent F-Zero stock back. So they don't need F-Zero for a strategic racing niche, so they've kept with Mario Kart instead.
Pic tangentially related: Series that did well and got pushed as a result.
I miss Custom Robo. I wish that one took off. 1080 Snowboarding was fun, too. I even liked Golden Sun. Do you think we miss those franchises because they only had 1-2 good games and petered out? It’s easy to resent, say, AC because its been around so long and NH was underwhelming.
metroid prime sucks wiener though, each pikmin game is actually good
Both are great.
or DKC, that hasn't had a fricking game in almost an entire decade.
So just like Pikmin
It's funny because I don't think that Miyamoto has anything really to do with the series except producing the first game and being an "ideas guy". All the character designs were made by the director and he didn't create the story of the game. I don't think he even created the level design or decided for it to be a RTS. It was just an ideas guy "pls based the game on these little creatures living in my garden pls" thing.
Why didn't the remakes give us Pikmin 2 online multiplayer? That shit was fun as frick.
Nintendo's standard for pricing is-
Significant changes to gameplay/functionality: 50-60 dollars
No significant changes to gameplay/functionality: Less
So if they added online multiplayer they would have sold it as a standalone release for 60 bucks.
wouldve been extremely worth the $60
but im guessing pikmin 4 will have the multiplayer instead so at least its something
it's like they just stopped trying to make interesting cover art after 2
They just stopped doing different ones overseas, Japan's always had the Pikmin lined up in a row like that. It's like what happened to Mario & Luigi.
>pic related got removed
what is wrong with nintendo?
They removed it because the webpage is dead I guess. Originally it was a Pikmin personality quiz.
It still works, just leads to the current pikmin page
Has anyone started making covers for the physical versions that don't look soulless? I don't even care if it's a fricking upscaled version of the gamecube covers
I was disappointed with pikmin2 my friend and I thought it was 2 player story mode. we we're autistically planning runs like "you'll collect some pikmin and i'll explore
will 4 be that replayable given that it looks to be open world slop with le upgrade system etc? 1 and 3 campaigns are short and mad for minmaxing, so the replayability is there, 2 has randomized dungeons so each playthrough is different... 4 looks to be rather large in scope and probably not meant to be replayed.
and the fact that no challenge mode or online battles was announced is worrying
>slop
kys
?
Should I get 1+2? I played the demo of 3 and surprisingly enjoyed it. I’ve held off on buying it, but now that 1+2 are out, should I go for that instead? I’ve heard it’s hard to go from 3 to 1+2.
3 is the easiest all around, 1 is hard for first time players but easier on repeat playthroughs, 2 is the hardest in general.
I didn’t find the demo too difficult. Never played anything like Pikmin before. To be honest with you, anon, I’m thinking it’s a Nintendo game. How hard can this really be? I’ve beaten all the Mario’s and even that Tingle game. I feel ready for any challenge.
Like I said, 3 is the easiest. 1 and especially 2 are completely different beasts.
This, since 4 is going to be close to 2, I'd recommend 3,1,2,4.
Pikmin 1 is easy as hell if you aren’t a toddler
2 is just a tedious turd and morons confuse tedium with actual difficulty
skill issue
>1 is hard for first time players
Pikmin 1 isn't hard for anyone, don't worry about it's difficulty.
If you can get 1 piece of your ship a day, you'll win.
Bro I literally saw someone go in to a lake with a team full of Red Pikmin and kill them all because they didn't know that only Blue Pikmin could go in water even though it's one of the most basic and common sense knowledge about Pikmin. These first time players are moronic.
And? They would have done that in any other Pikmin game too.
3 is by far the most approachable, if you enjoyed the demo then I'd say start from there and if you still want more Pikmin when you're done, pick up 1+2.
You already know 3 was fun, it's a much safer gamble to see that one through and then get used to the slightly less convenient design of the older games, than to start with them and then find they're too clunky for you.
It's hard going from 3 to 1+2 because you there's a charge system+ lock on in 3 and a swarm one in 1 and 2. I like the swarm better than the charge one, but the charge system is objectively better.
The point is that the swarm system makes the game more organic. The AI on 1 and 2 is kinda dumb too, specially on 1. Master the AI is also necessary, is it a feature or a limitation? I don't know. But 3 is super smooth, 1 and 2 are great and you'll feel the Pikmin much more.
> it’s a Nintendo game. How hard can this really be?
homie never played AW
Completely cleared Forest Navel in 3 days, would it be better to revisit and clear Forest of Hope now or clear Distant Spring in one go?
you can do either anon
Dream Den Sublevel 10, that is all.
can't wait for P4
looking forward to doing some spooky night exploration
That was what hooked me the most with the new trailer.
glad they re-released 1 and 2 after showing off that 4 is going to be open world goyslop focusing on your heckin' gudboi doggerino only thing that sucks is can't use a voucher to buy 1 and 2 and I need to find something to use after cancelling my pre-order for 4
I think you should get SSHD.
I’m glad people are seeing that 2 isn’t actually good
4 seems like it’s just going to be a better version of it
2=1>3
I just really hope punching got a buff. It was always fun to do that but it does basically nothing in 3
I'm glad they are adding an upgrading system to 4. I missed by many upgrades in 3.
All Pikmin games are pretty good, though 2 is probably the best as it's the longest and more challenging of the 3.
People complain about the lack of time limit, but 30 days in Pikmin 1 and 33 in hard mode in Pikmin 3 are not really a big deal at all. In fact except preventing you from roaming free after finishing the game these serve no purpose.
It's clear that 4 decided to take inspiration from the game that is, overall, the most liked by the fanbase. Yes, you can cheese the game, but you can do the same in 3, and will probably be able to do the same in 4.
The charm of Pikmin is simply leading a group of colored carrots to do your work, lol!
Also, will glow pikmin appear on the cover of Pikmin 4?
I'm doing the dream den
That gatling groink on the ceiling is a b***h had to reset but i'm pretty content with only 1 Pikmin dying
i'm too attached to my current one, even if it looks more like a crime scene nowadays
Holy soul. And also,is he fricking that orange? Based
Why is that Red Pikmin fricking an orange?
Since we can only pick three Pikmin types out at all times, which ones do you think you'll pick the most? And which type are you almost sure you'll never pick up except for mandatory caves where you discover them?
Winged is a must, because the dog can swim. Possibly rock or purples for fighting and yellows electricity. But it'll depend on the enemies, I guess.
It seems stupid to not always run some combination of Red/Blue/Yellow/Ice/White since they’re the hazard immune types except for when you explicitly need one of the other three to get a treasure
They really should have made the limit 5 types to give some room for using those utility types.
Whites and Wings for carrying stuff and Rocks for battle seems like it would be good, though I could be completely wrong. Also, unless they're even half as broken as they were in 2, I probably won't be using purples too often.
Also, since we're on the topic, does anyone else think the 3 type limit could actually, assuming they're even in the game, give the candy pop buds more utility?
Is electricity confirmed to be insta-kill again? That's the only reason I can see using Yellow's frequently.
COnfirmed to be like in 3, just a stun.
If I could only stick to three types:
>Blue
Only ones who can retrieve treasures from under water.
>Winged
Only ones who fly and can deal with stuff placed too high.
>Purple
Only ones who are heavy enough for some hazards.
For fire, ice, poison, electricity hazards, I'll simply use Oatchi, and for breakable Walls, I'll also use Oatchi.
And for damage? i'll use Oatchi
And for carrying all my pikmin types safely across water? I'll use Oatchi
It's even confirmed i can use Oatchi as a replacement for my captain to order pikmin around
Pikmin: Oatchi (Oatchi means 4 in Japanese)
>It's even confirmed i can use Oatchi as a replacement for my captain to order pikmin around
wait for real or are you baiting me
Oatchi is a second captain seemingly, yeah
Yes and also throw them.
Oatchi is just a better captain that can jump fight carry and dig.
>see that there's a fricking mmo quest indicator on the hud now
>"collect sparklium"
>have no idea what the hell sparklium is
>look it up to see if anyone is talking about it
>Sparklium (キラキラエネルギー?) is a recurring collectable resource in the Pikmin series. It first appears in Hey! Pikmin
oh my god WHY do they keep bringing shit over from hey pikmin and legitimizing arzest shovelware. killing myself immediately wasn't hey pikmin set on a completely different planet and not pnf-404? how the frick are they going to make that work
Looking at each type
Reds:
>1.5x damage iirc is pretty much always useful
>Fire is a fairly common hazard with fiery blowhogs being common enemies
Yellows:
>Dig speed and throw height are useful but situational abilities
>Electricity is somewhat common but their usefulness depends on its deadliness
>Exist for their gimmicks, pointless otherwise
Blues:
>Can be used in water
>Water hazards seem more common with many water bodies and geysers being visible in game
>Completely pointless against anything that isn’t water, definition of average
Whites:
>Extra speed is always helpful
>Poison is a somewhat rare hazard (at least in 2) and they’re immune
>Specified to be immune to spores too which indicates puffstool or other spore source immunity
Purples:
>10x carry weight is again always useful
>Slow as frick and have no immunities
>Nerfed from 2 but still have the stun
Rocks:
>Strong in combat, better than reds against certain enemies but worse against others because they can’t latch on
>Invaluable against crushing enemies but not completely immune like in 3, still a very good trait
>Needed for crystal breaking and presumably killing crystal enemies (we’ve only seen skutterchuks but there’s probably more)
Winged:
>Flying is incredibly useful and can help you get treasures over water without blue pikmin
>Specialised for fighting flying enemies
>Not as fast as whites but being able to take optimal flight routes makes them inherently faster than most
>Bad in combat against non-flying enemies due to less damage
Ice:
>Immune to ice hazards
>Can freeze bodies of water enabling other pikmin to cross
>Can freeze enemies
>Not sure on exact details yet
Based on this I’d probably go Red/Rock depending on enemies, Winged/White depending on the area I’m in and Purples for a versatile loadout. Potentially Ice too since they look to be useful.
damn I tried pikmin 1 on ryujinx and there's that sound hiccup, anyone tested yuzu?
I would just emulate the wii versions, not only are they not "censored" but you can also play them in 60fps with mods. It's not a game that NEEDS 60fps of course but it always looks and feels much better
IS there a link for Amazon's Pikmin 4?
This Pikmin renaissance gives me a lot of hope for Star Fox in the future
Pikmin 3 on Wii U didn't sell exceptionally well, and obviously neither did Star Fox Zero on Wii U (Though the latter was far worse)
Then Miyamoto starts saying in interviews and stuff that he always wishes Pikmin and Star Fox both were more popular
Miyamoto has four IPs that are his babies: Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Pikmin, and Star Fox. Donkey Kong too, but he's been less involved there lately
Mario and Zelda are both juggernauts that don't need a huge push, anything under those IPs will sell like fire
Pikmin and Star Fox on the other hand, both need a lot of help
Pikmin is getting that help now. He clearly had a plan to kickstart popularity with Pikmin
>Re-release a deluxe edition of Pikmin 3 on the Switch, which became the best-selling Pikmin game
>Create and announce a sequel, Pikmin 4
>Shadow drop Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 remasters to help drum up hype for Pikmin 4
As long as Pikmin 4 sells around 2 Mil world wide, which it looks like it just might, then he will have successfully revived the IP.
That just leaves Star Fox as his last baby to bring up on par with the others. And I genuinely think that's what he'll do next before retirement
So imagine this:
>Star Fox Zero-Two gets announced in a September Direct for 2024 and it's a launch title for the new Super Nintendo Switch console
>Like how the original Star Fox Zero was a re-imagining of Star Fox 64/Star Fox SNES, this is another take on Star Fox 2
>Play as the entire Star Fox team, plus Fay, Miyu, and even Krystal. There's even online multiplayer and tons of replay value
>To drum up hype, Star Fox Zero Deluxe is revealed and shadow-dropped featuring a ton of improvements, new missions, and multiplayer
>And it all ties into a new Star Fox animated series that'll be launching in late 2024/early 2025
And just like that, as Miyamoto always wanted, Star Fox becomes a household name again.
I pray every day for this.
To add to this, the Super Mario Movie was wildly successful, so obviously we're getting more Nintendo animations.
I know more Super Mario, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda are at the forefront, but don't count out Star Fox.
Star Fox itself was inspired by the Thunderbirds show, and has already dabbled in animation with the Battle Begins short.
I can easily see Star Fox getting a movie down the line, or being the first Nintendo IP to get an animated series.
If they did a series, they could easily tie it into new Star Fox games. Honestly, animation may be the key to generating Star Fox hype.
The Battle Begins short was INCREDIBLY well received, and the A Fox in Space was wildly popular on release as well.
There's obviously a market for Star Fox animation, so why not capitalize on it?
I love your enthusiasm but there's no way miyamoto could go that long without making a moronic design decision just because. If pikmin 4 ends up being good, we narrowly avoided one which means we're due. Also was anything about assault particularly bad besides the on foot sections? I had a blast playing multiplayer with my friends back in the day and can't remember any issues with the arwing controls so if they just did more of that it should be fine.
>I love your enthusiasm
Thanks, I try to remain positive when it comes to Star Fox. It's my favorite series, and if I lied down in defeat and 'accepted it as dead' than that's exactly what it would be.
But by being positive and trying to foster the Star Fox community, the bigger we grow and louder our voices may be. The bigger and louder the audience, the better for the future.
>there's no way miyamoto could go that long without making a moronic design decision just because. If pikmin 4 ends up being good, we narrowly avoided one which means we're due.
After he took a big risk with Star Fox Zero using the Wii U's GamePad and it failed spectacularly, I can actually see him opting to make a safer, more traditional Star Fox experience.
There may be optional gyro aim like with Splatoon, or if the Switch 2 has a focus on VR then the next game could have a focus on that, but it would definitely be a toggle option.
>Also was anything about assault particularly bad besides the on foot sections? I had a blast playing multiplayer with my friends back in the day and can't remember any issues with the arwing controls so if they just did more of that it should be fine.
Nope, and IMO the on-foot sections were fine too. Controls never bothered me, though I'll admit they could've had more objective variety.
Arwing controls were fine as well, just felt a bit slower-paced compared to Star Fox 64, which was a bit faster-pased and more crisp.
But overall, Star Fox: Assault is more often than not considered to be the way forward for Star Fox by both the core Star Fox community and more casual players.
Many people like its overall focus on narrative and doing something new instead of Andross again. Plus people loved the multiplayer and the OST is hailed as one of the best OSTs in gaming.
Heck, when news broke of Bandai Namco remaking an old Nintendo 3D Action game, Star Fox: Assault started trending on Twitter. People love that game.
It seems like it would be really easy to make a good star fox game. Just make more arwing levels, tight fun controls, more items and enemies, less not-arwing levels. If you want to get crazy, let players recruit non team starfox characters to customize your squad.
Agreed, especially with the customizing your squad part.
The Star Fox team consistently has at least four members, so why not allow them all to be playable in 4-player co-op?
Assault was the closest to this, as literally every mission you had the entire team together.
One idea I have for a hypothetical new game is that you start with the OG four (Fox, Falco, Peppy, Slippy), but you unlock other characters as you progress through the missions.
Kinda like how in Hyrule Warriors or Fire Emblem Warriors, you pick up new characters as you go.
And also like in those games, as well as Starlink: Battle for Atlas, each character could have their own skill tree or special ability to make them stand out.
>Fox can get something like an aim-bot, where all non-charged shots gain lock-on accuracy
>Falco can overdrive his Arwing, allowing for infinite ability use for a short time
>Peppy activates an enhanced barricade, completely protecting himself in a 180-degree arc
>Slippy gets a System Crash, which functions like an EMP on enemy fighters
Then you pick up other characters too, like Bill, Katt, Krystal, Fay, and Miyu.
Maybe even have the Star Wolf team playable as post-game unlocks, like how Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity allows you to unlock Calamity Ganon
And the ability to play as different pilots isn't new to Star Fox, just look at Star Fox 2 and Star Fox Command
If anything, having a customizable squad that gives unique dialogue during gameplay depending on who is in your team would be really fun and engaging. You could go the extra step and make it FE style 'talk to teammates after missions to increase camaraderie' that gives you addition bonuses or abilities when your best buds are on your team. No fricking romance though and hopefully the inevitable new age of furry porn keeps the troons away so they don't infect SF like they did FE and we just get to enjoy a well made game.
Yeah I think no matter what route Star Fox goes down, playable squadmates or not, being able to walk around the Great Fox as a hub and talk to your teammates would go a long way.
I kinda imagine it like the Fortress of Doom from DOOM Eternal. You can view collectibles, listen to music, train, unlock new areas as you progress, select previous missions and replay them with cheats on, etc.
>Pikmin 2 port removed the ability to swap between the growth stages of a pikmin while you're holding them
trash
?
I am able to do that in Pikmin 1 by pressing X while holding A. I'm going to assume that the feature carries over if it's in 1.
>played Pikmin 1 and 2 on Gamecube
>fricking loved it, completed both multiple times
>play the Wii versions
>fricking loved it even harder, completed both multiple times
>play Pikmin 3 on Wii U
>Fricking loved it, only completed it once but just didn't really like the gamepad features feeling like they were necessary
>try to play 3 Deluxe
>cannot get into non-wiimote controls for Pikmin
I think this is where I get off the series, guys. I can't go back to playing Pikmin without a pointer.
Did the controls feel like going back to gamecube type controls? I never bought a Wii U and ended up emulating Pikmin 3 before Deluxe existed.
It felt worse. FWIW I tried playing the Gamecube versions of 1 and 2 recently as well and I just can't do it there either.
heh
I'm happy for pikmin enjoyers and can't wait to play them myself but i still can't help but feel bad that f-zero and star fox are just never getting another good game. By the by what are we losing by having the two songs missing from the games? Is it just the easter egg of them singing or is it like the game's little theme song? I haven't played so i don't know but ai no uta is a very nice song.
The actual vocal themes weren't ever in the games, but Ai No Uta is sung by the Pikmin in 2 if you get 20 of each type out as a cute little easter egg, which was removed in the Switch port due to copyright with the band that made the song.
Oh okay that's not that big a hangup. So overall the new ports would be a good place to start for someone that never played it on the gamecube? I'm so wary of modern ports that it's almost hard to believe it could be good.
I'm a huge F-Zero gay and while I can also appreciate the series as a whole and its less formidable entries like the GBA games, it's been so long I wouldn't want to settle for what some of these games offered or a SNES tier output, at the same time GX revels in the pointlessness of its extras amidst some tight, simple yet rewarding gameplay, which is a standard I just don't expect out of a company anymore. I'm just glad GX happened as I'm glad Pikmin is still going without being butchered.
>I'm happy for pikmin enjoyers and can't wait to play them myself but i still can't help but feel bad that f-zero and star fox are just never getting another good game
See
There may be hope for Star Fox yet.
F-Zero though, probably not.
I'm both a Pikmingay and a Star Foxgay so I feel like with what's happening to Pikmin I can wait just a little longer for Star Fox
As much as I want a new F-Zero, after Star Fox All I need is a new Donkey Kong and this gen might as well be complete for me on Nintendo's part.
I fricking hate the dog so much, it does not fit in with Pikmin whatsoever
I'm playing 1 for the first time
I feel like this game is not hard but it's doing a good job of tricking me into thinking that I'm under pressure
If you can manage to get at least 1 part a day with ideally 2-3 you should be able to beat the game pretty easily
The 30 days even in a blind playthrough is more of a safety net
so did they do anything to 1 and 2? is it 1080/60?
cant find much info on this
30fps
censored dirty/questionable jokes and reskinned all the real-world products from 2
>censored dirty/questionable jokes
which ones?
The Nintendo ones are intact aren't they?
yes
olimar feeding his wife the tomato as an aphrodisiac, the "hot singles in your area" spam email, they recolored the leaf so it doesn't look like a pot leaf anymore
just play 3, there is no reason to play 1 or 2 when 3 exists
How are the switch versions of 1-3 compared to the wii/wii u versions?
I was thinking of double dipping for 3 due to the extra content
1/2 are the same game more or less. If you're playing the PAL version some of the item placement is different from NTSC-U (which seems to be the base version even for the Japanese version of the game) and all of the brand name advertising that required licensing is removed (no Duracell batteries, Vlasic Pickle lid, etc.)
3 Deluxe has a lot of gameplay changes, including the ability to play the campaign in co-op the addition of the Piklopedia, and balance changes (3 Wii U only had the default difficulty mode, 3 Deluxe has three difficulty modes). The Pikmin wiki goes over every change in detail, but there might be more subtle Pikmin 1/2 changes that we don't know about yet.
https://www.pikminwiki.com/Pikmin_3_Deluxe
How are the controls?
I loved the wii note controls, and have always thought the gyro is a bit off when emulating a pointer
If you double dip on 3 make sure to play on hard mode because they pulled the classic remaster move of making normal mode in the original into hard mode in the remaster, and then making a new easier “normal” mode
Played Pikmin 1 and 2 on Dolphin and while I haven’t got to 2 yet on the switch they seem like solid versions of the games. One big thing with 1 is that Pikmin are way more responsive to whistling which makes it much smoother to play, though I did emulate the GC versions so I’m not sure if that was already in the Wii version of the game.
as a first-timer playing through the game, my main complaint is that I wish the pikmin had better pathfinding
mfs get stuck on little crevices and shit constantly
Yeah the A.I gets a big tune up in 2. Thus why some guy is remaking 1 in 2's engine despite all the reused assets.
The one area in the forest of hope where you have to go over a small piece of land surrounded by water is something I always dread when replaying it, they will always fall into the water no matter what.
3 made the path finding so much better it’s insane.

Thank god yellows are so useless that 20 or so dying doesn't really matter too much
I just use blues for that part. That ship part has a long ledge leading up to it and I drag the blues through it. Much safer than tiptoeing through water
It's amazing how few yellows you actually need for the first game. Besides getting one ship part, you could go below 20 total and still be fine for the rest of the game
To help with the pikmin getting stuck I recommend constantly using the swarm technique just so you can manually move the entire group around obstacles.
The AI in Pikmin 1 is infamously poor when it comes to that shit. 2 is a huge step up and 3 almost is TOO good and makes it super easy.
I find it cute that blue Pikmin can fling others out of the water if they're drowning.
Which games can they do it? I've only noticed it in 3.
Anon that's the only game they DON'T do that in.
I could've sworn I've seen blues throw pikmin out of the water in 3
wait what the frick they can do that??? I never knew that
In 2 (probably 1 too, I don't know), if a pikmin is drowning and you have blues follow you into the water, they'll grab the drowning pikmin and fling them onto nearby land.
After a grueling war of attrition I beat the Titan Dweevil with 4 Yellows left.
I retried because I couldn't get the materials, and the 2nd attempt went much better, but man it's still a cool fight. Frick getting looped by the poison or fire though.
Any fellow Charlie gods?
Luv that man
I remember being curious about Pikmin and now all this happens shortly after I finally decide to get a Switch so that's a nice coincidence
I had just played Pikmin 3 so I was able to watch the soul of the old logo evaporate before my very eyes when it updated.
I want 1 to get a full remake that makes it look closer to 3/4 but more importantly fixes the AI so I start feeling bad about having nearly an entire colony of yellows dying instead of just shrugging it off. The game is great as is but man does it suffer from how dumb the Pikmin are.
I started up Pikmin 3 for the first time the other day. Seems kinda fun so far, but I can already see how using three captains is gonna get fricking hectic. Any general tips for that game?
Use the map screen to map out where you want to send each captain, time stops at the map screen. But it's not really that difficult even on the most difficult setting so you shouldn't really have to worry. There's a mod called "true spice" that makes it acutally hectic and didfficult and forces you to learn and use all of the gameplay that's fun if you want an acual challenge in the future
Don’t worry, its rare you’ll ever truly need three Pikmin types. I can think of maybe three times in the whole game, every other time I used them was simply because I play Pikmin games religiously and have them all memorized.
OH HECKING FRICK! IS THAT A FRICKIN HECKIN DOGGO?!? NINTENDOES KNOW WHAT I WANTS! SAFE HORNY LUDVO KINO FOR DAYS! NOTHING MORE POGGERS! I'M SO EXCITED REDDIT, I MIGHT UNALIVE!
Have we seen if they redesigned the onions again or is it still the 3 design?
They redesigned it but it still appears to function like 3's onion. Instead of being color swirls it's now multiple separated colors.
I played 1 on gamecube as a kid, how's the switch version? Better to use joycons or pro controller?
main difference that I've noticed is that you have to hold ZL to control pikmin using the right stick instead of it just working without it. by default, right stick now controls the camera
>can play all the pikmin games on the Switch
>Nintendo doesn't care to do this for any of its other properties
REEEEEEEEEE MIYAMOTO I LIKE PIKMIN BUT THIS IS FRICKED
Enter
It would be cool if they made a top down 2d version with 80s graphics where you can see everything. like Pac-Man dx
Fat fricking b***h ass Louie, fricking eating everything. Just sitting there with his dumbass fat face.
