One of the most kino moment i had in that game was when i was dueling with 3 Alfa class submarines.
I decided to play risky and literally swam underneath one of the Alfa subs, this managed to confuse the torpedoes and cause friendly fire between them.
Too bad that naval commando transport missions and in general enemy air assets are such a gigantic pain in the ass in this game
Mod 3rd person for limited visibility and it becomes much less of a thing. The main issue is the map and UI gives you a frickload of accurate visualized information that sub crews wouldn't have.
it's empty.
it's completely fricking empty.
nothing but a featureless void of water. nothing in it, nothing below it, occasional shipping on the surface.
You want to know something scarier? Most of it is very sparse of life, a deep, dark dessert that covers most of the Earth. Most of it is too deep for photosynthesis so life there survives from the detritus from above in form of white snow. Most life concentrates near coastlines where light can reach the bottom of the ocean.
so you're saying the ocean is just a giant meme and really only interesting in how it interacts with land e.g. coasts?

if i remember well oceans contain at least 70% of unknown species or something ?
That's percent of the ocean unmapped. And percent of the Earth's surface covered in water. And sometimes what percent of the human body is water.
I mean, maybe people have using it for "unknown species" too, but that was usually used for rainforests back in the day.
Wow this doesnt sound like something an Atlantean hiding with his civilization at the bottom of the ocean would say at all. No sir, i trust you. There is no advanced civilization on the bottom of the ocean, oceans are completely empty *wink* *wink*

This would also mean that most Super-Earths ocean worlds are almost lifeless except for underwater volcanic activity and that it is if the water is so deep that the extreme pressure doesn't turn it ice-solid like Uranus and Neptune.
>Play Cold Waters >Imagine giantic sea monster/angler fish/octopus emerging from the depths and swallowing my submarine
Im not really cut out for deep sea games
Shit is scary
>play barotrauma with bros >game is ridden with bugs to the point our sub is no longer operational no matter what we try to fix it
I just can't bring myself to play it solo even if it is actually playable this way
the only sub strategy games i have ever played is 688 attack sub, very good game especially on the part of the map.
Never won a single level beyond the tutorial though,
>first month playing the game >understand that moving slow means I can hear the enemy ship better on sonar >so what if I just come to a dead stop and wait to pick him up? >all stop >10 minutes later.... >15 minutes later... >Did he leave the sector? >Turn on active sonar >enemy Alfa immediately appears on my screen to my starboard 100m away and launches a torpedo
>conn, sonar, torpedo in the water, torpedo in the water
>500m
>400m
>300m...
>100m!
>All hands prepare for emergency blow!
>FIFTY METERS OFF OUR PORT!
>FULL RUDDER STARBOARD! TURN! TURN! TUR-
>RIG THE BOAT FOR ULTRAQUIET

>Playing dotmod
>Fighting subs that can pull your torpedoes down to crush depth.
the eternal anglo strikes again
game?
Cold Waters. Best sub game since Silent Hunter 3
What about Uboat?
Sierra 1 is classified as submerged submarine
It's a Merchant.
>FIRE VLS
*BUAAAAAH*
>DIVE ! DIVE !
Third person view kinda ruins the whole point of the game
that made me think : imagine a submarine able to represent his environnement in real time full 3D, that would be maximum overkill
Multiplayer Iron Lung when?
First person barotrauma
Yeah but I mean like Iron Lung, where you have to use Sonar/GPS so see where you are in relation to others.
Set it in the world of Diluvion.
Not really, you can only see boats or their weapons if you actually detect them with the sonar or sight, else you won't see shit other than the sea.

The sheer vastness of the ocean scares me to death bros
same
bloop

maybe i'm wrong

So what you're saying is that it's like outer space, and the real aliens are on the ocean floor?

my dude the nuclear submarine *is* the sea monster
Play Barotrauma then
when you'll play it, you'll shit bricks

I just can't bring myself to play it solo even if it is actually playable this way
We don't need TWO sub threads at the same time
Do we need TEN Paradox threads at the same time
This is literally a paradox board though
Frick off Johan
true, we need THREE

Has anyone tried this?

>play soviet campaign
>pick the best submarine made in 1950
>to fight a war in 1985
this guy makes really fricking good cold waters videos
The soviet campaign actually adjusts to your boat. The British campaign will have you facing 3 victors in an oberon on your first mission.
