Should have made a good video game instead of gothic 2 for the 7th time
PB's entire history has been trying in vain to recreate the magic of Gothic.... and failing.
The guys who made gothic 1 and 2 didnt even work there anymore through.
Risen games and Elex 1 and 2 were ass.
But for some reason people wanna pretend otherwise because of brand loyalty not even developer loyalty because these games dont share developers just a logo and thats enought for some people to clutch to the logo hoping completely diffrent people make their childhood game again because their company name is the same.

They should've died after the release of G3, the rest is just extended death rattle of Piranha Bytes.
Today modders do a better job than PB - Archolos, which is G3 we wanted.

I don't think PB ever made those in mind that you only have those since it's too fast to read
also it looks less like a mod and more like they puzzled together Gothic 2 in a different way
I played through G2 3 times with each faction and at that point only a total conversion would make me care

Thoughs on the 2023 Gothic Reboot trailer?
They completely scrapped the 2019 demo and started over from the beggining again.
Kai Rosenkratz is working on this one from what i heard.
I also heard some important dude from Archolos is working on it, and since they didn't just kick it out and decided to remake it from, scratch - there is a chance.
looks more like a gothic mod
it breaks too much with continuity that you could still call this a remake
I don't think the studio behind this even cares about Gothic

how do you build upon someone elses work if you don't understand what is going on
there is some article buried in there where someone talks about gods and that was quite interesting
one guy wanted Adanos to be this complicated thing and the other guy wanted it to be simple otherwise people don't understand
then there is also the technical stuff like adding more stuff to the world will change the dynamic
maybe in their mind this is still Gothic but everything looks very busy
how do you explain that minecrawlers are still a treat when the arena is this big pasttime sport and you essentially have gladiators
the colony was more or less a makeshift society with the old camp and upper crust in it having the kings goods and trading them
most other people were poor as frick and lived from their hand in the mouth unless you robbed people like the new camp did or traded
I think they were in parts also too lazy to analyse Gothic or just didn't have the know how
there is one guy contributing to this project that said that Gothic doesn't hold your hand

Gothic is a guided sandbox in my book and also not unfinished game even though they ran out of time

All they had to do was release gothic 2 remake and they'd survive.
Apparently Bjorn would have a melty whenever people suggested they makea Gothic 2 remake thats actually why he left the company because everyone else was pressuring him to stop doing Elex and go do Gothic and he didnt want to do Gothic

Should I play Gothic 1 before Gothic 2 or just skip right to Gothic 2?
G2 is continuation of G1 in terms of plot and you will meet a lot of npcs that you know from G1 and revisit most of the G1 map as well
however there is no legit explanation on how you turned from high level character into a hobo, so playing G2 first is fine, as you are nameless hero anyway
G2 gameplay is slightly improved
if you don't like G1, there is still a chance you may like G2
but if you don't like G2, then you definitely won't like G1

If you have Gothic 1 there's no reason not to play it first, but if you don't 2 has dialogue lines where you can pretend (or not in your case) to have amnesia whenever something from the first game comes up.
