I was too busy to play it when it came out but I finally got it and it's not as good as I expected. The controls are unwieldy as hell and mach dashing is basically uncontrollable. I'm still having fun but it's kind of disappointing after occasionally watching progress since the game was first revealed 5 years ago. Maybe I'm just too old now.
i didn't like it either. the music is also boring.
>The controls are unwieldy as hell and mach dashing is basically uncontrollable.
Git gud
???
the music is literally the best part of the game wtf? literally the only bad track is yeehaw deliveryboy
>he hates Yeehaw Deliveryboy
You clearly don't understand what's going on here
bait post but I will give you a (You) still
This has to be bait, the music is the best part of the game easily.
Controls felt really weird for me at first. I had to get used to the fact that the run button wasn't tied to the normal movement. it definitely feels like a moving panic attack when you go at max speed.
I can understand if you just didn't like the gameplay, opinions and all that but really if you didn't like the music then your opinions are pretty bad anon.
you get used to the controls, it's what the zoomers call a learning curve, i believe
Spent too long in the cooker. Should’ve released sooner. The SAGE demo was peak, and I don’t know what this chucklefrick dev was doing for all these years other than making the game worse. Indie devs need an ego check.
You are getting old. First, your reaction will get slower. You will tell yourself "it's just not my day", "I need to practice", "the game is too difficult", but it's actually your muscles slowly withering. Then, your sight. Pixels will be too bright or too blury and playing for too long will make your head hurt. Then, your back. Your beloved 6 hour long game sessions will come to a halt and will be reduced to mere 2 hours or so.
>The controls are unwieldy as hell and mach dashing is basically uncontrollable.
A common mistake for beginners. The first boss will punish you hard for gluing your finger to the run button if you don't break that habit. It's okay to just walk sometimes, and you also only gain speed if you're holding forward while running. Keep at it, you'll get it.
t. coming up on 40 years old
You do have to hold the mach dash button down if you want to keep your combo 90% of the time
You are misunderstanding what I mean by "hold down".
You can let go of the button, do what you need to do, then start holding it again. The grab/slide quickly returns your speed.
another fricking pizza tower thread.
>another videogame thread on the videogame board
oh no
Why are you whining anyway, these threads died off
see
ive never seen a game shilled so hard in such a short amount of time. you honestly feel pity for the undertale autists that latched onto it.
>The controls are unwieldy as hell and mach dashing is basically uncontrollable
You don't need to hold down the mach dash button at all times. You can go from one move to another in most cases as well.
You're not supposed to actually play the game you're supposed to jerk off to the pizza toppings
Peppino handles amazingly well once the controls click, some inputs and interactions just don't feel intuitive
>Maybe I'm just too old now
Go back to John Gutter and grind the chef tasks
After you're done with the chef tasks grind the P rank
Then get all of the P ranks on the first floor
Repeat for the rest of the floors
Then complete a Holy Shit run
Then a Quick as Hell run
Then get the John Suit
Yes it's that easy
Holy Shit is harder than Quick as hell. Any reason why you recommend Holy Shit first?
>Any reason why you recommend Holy Shit first?
Completing a save 101% and getting the TV purple is all the training you need to quickly S rank all stages on a fresh savefile, the timing is very lenient compared to quick as hell
skill issue
controls are one of the best things the game has going for it
a lot of the game is geared towards speedrunning autism, is the problem
the controls are great when going for a P rank, but shit when you're just chilling on your first play through a level
likewise, the escape timer is too damn generous, and you will casually leave with 2 or 3 extra minutea on your first playthrough, because it's made with the 2nd lap in mind
and so on
>the escape timer is too damn generous, and you will casually leave with 2 or 3 extra minutea on your first playthrough, because it's made with the 2nd lap in mind
This is one of my biggest complaints, I never get to hear the final minute of It's Pizza Time unless I sandbag hard
Being encouraged to git gud and go fast is not a problem, it's the main appeal of the game. And getting all P ranks is still casual shit compared to actual speedrun autism
It's similar to good Classic Castlevania design, weird controls that might seem unintuitive at first, but when they click it's quite obvious that every single level is perfectly based around those controls.
you are just bad at the game
Yes, I'm bad at using the clunky badly designed controls
cry more pizzalet
you first gay
honestly i agree
The only thing "clunky" about the controls in Pizza Tower are multiple moves tied to a few buttons, and the hidden mechanics the tutorial doesn't teach you (that will frick you up on accident). Other than that, there is buffer, there is momentum, there is fundamentally nothing wrong with the controls.
input buffer is bad design
when i press a button it should do something immediately
That's not what buffer means in the context of Pizza Tower, frogposter.
The game doesn't eat your inputs; it will queue a successive action the exact frame after you input it. Example:
>A few moments before you hit the ground, you can hit jump, so even if you aren't on the ground, you will jump on the very next frame/opportunity/whatever you want to call it
It's game design that all platformers unanimously use, and helps Pizza Tower a LOT due to shit like wall climbing being hard as balls without buffering your inputs.
Please don't go into a platforming game without even understanding the basics of movement.
Yeah the point is there shouldn't be "opportunities"
When I press jump it should fricking JUMP, not when the mach dash turning animation finishes, NOW
What the frick
Oh wait I read that wrong I'm moronic
My point still stands though, the game actively disobeys my input sometimes just because an animation is playing and it fricks me up
Git gud, my girlfriend's 7 year old son P ranked all the bosses
Pizza Tower was yet another in a series of indieslop paid shill campaigns targeting Ganker. The fact that you didn't enjoy it is normal, because the only people praising it here are the shills from Pizza Tower's discord.
Stop falling for the shilled trash like Fear and Hunger/Chained Echoes/Crystal Project and go play something that is actually worth a damn.
>troony tower
Like the zoomers say, there's definitely a skill issue. Once the controls click it's pretty fun.
It does feel really slippery to handle at times, wallclimbing and machturning being the major issues I see most people bring up, and I agree.
Music is without a doubt the game biggest strenght.
I just don't understand why I'd ever play this MS paint shit.
I could just play metroid or wario. both of those actually have polished art and control better.
Anon, the point is we are currently starved for a new Wario game since Nintendo currently don't give a shit right now.
Yes we could play Wario or Metroid but it wouldn't solve the issue.
PT feels like more Sonic and Jazz Jackrabbit inspired game to me, I mean isn't this clear that Jazz 2 influenced the movement and music of PT
Antonblast is the closest Wario like indie we can get.
MS paint is one of the pillars of this website you worthless philistine
the game is definitely carried by its artstyle before the controls click, but when they do click, that's when the real fun begins
The mach dash isn't like holding sprint in Mario and you shouldn't think of it that way. It's something you need to be more mindful about using.
I think oregano mirage might be the best track in the game. I can't really make up my mind but every time I think back on the sound track it and peppinos sauce machine immediately come to mind
alternatively hot spaghetti. it's the song that I just associate the whole game with for some reason.
Yeehaw Deliveryboy and Bite the Crust for me, though Oregano Mirage is indeed a very good pick
COME IN MISTAH DEEJAAAAY
>pizzatrooners as usual have no counterarguments insted immediately resorting to ????????????????? and le git gud :^)
>pizzatroons
>literally THE anti troony game
Finished up the golfing idle
And one title card. Also have the redhead version of the golf animation
