Saw countless threads about this game in January but didn't really pay attention to them. A friend recommended this to me last week and I've been enjoying it a lot. I'd say this is the most I've enjoyed a 2d platformer since Shovel Knight, it rules. The movement is so fast and satisfying, and the levels are really fun.
I definitely recommend it if you're even slightly interested in platformers.

Not really relevant but this makes me think about how there's occasionally popular games on Ganker that for some reason I ignore but the various OPs I see on it give me some strange expectation for the game. Like I saw dozens of threads on Risk of Rain without ever looking at the footage. Ended up with some really weird expectations about what such a game is like before I finally played.

game looks fun and as a fan of wario land it looks appealing but at the same time looks like the type of game that's only really good if you play it like an autistic speedrun troon like it was designed
OP here, I'd push back against that. The game's movement is simpler than it looks, and you don't need to get autistic about the speedrun techniques at all. If you like wario then you should definitely try it.
So long as you know where things are in a level and dont get hit by enemies you should be able to get p ranks (which are super optional), if you watch a prank video the players typically play far better than you need to. The game doesn't have any mind numbing tech either, the only thing that really slows people down is bonking into walls
You can play it casually and still have fun. Hell, even P-ranking isn't so bad once you get a handle of the controls; It's got the right balance between difficulty and forgiveness where you do not have to run it pixel perfect, yet challenging enough it's incredibly satisfying when you get it. It's all completely optional, so go nuts.

Yeah, not canonically immortal. Way more resilient than just about anything else in the game, though.
you have a health meter in boss fights, and during the escape sequence when the timer reaches zero the final boss starts chasing you, and you instantly die if it he touches you. There's also one level where a time bomb is ticking down during the whole stage and if it reaches zero a huge explosion goes off that instantly kills you. Also if you fall off ledges you get a humorous screen that says "technical difficulty please stand by" with Peppino injured in some way, and the final boss sitting behind a camera in a director's chair. Then it respawns you at the start of the room.
I recently got 101% and holy shit frick this gear, especially when it appears during the Cheese Uzi attack. I'm pretty sure this added 4 hours to my playthrough.

mcpig infrequently posts concept sketches of the noise to his twitter page. I think the indie dev thing happened and he decided to make more levels to go with the finalized noise and it's in the middle of spiralling out of control into a second game
