never tried VR before but I wanna try it for plane, mecha & driving games
oh and also porn & watching movies
is it still worth it or is VR dead?

Quest doesn't do on device porn, use it with your PC and play Heat VR.
I mean yeah I'm planning to use it like a 3rd monitor
I thought that was implied
yes it's worth it, but wait for reviews first
most plane and driving games are on PCVR which you can still play on Q3
quest has some decent mech games, only problem is they dont really have a single player mode, except vox machinae
but they're still very cool
you can play any 3d video in deovr
it's fine
get the bigscreen app
>VR too blurry
total rubbish, people who said this either didn't adjust the ipd, used shitty videos or have a weird head shape
>bigscreen app
do you have to buy these apps or is it free or freemium?
bigscreen and deovr are free
bigscreen is good for replicating a cinema experience and handling some videos that deovr can't
deovr is just good at playing many kinds of 2d/3d video and a lot of options
can I play my 10tb HDD of 1080p x265 movies on this app?
because I don't use streaming services
Not sure about x265 but you can try right now on steam. Download bigscreen ( https://store.steampowered.com/app/457550/Bigscreen_Beta/ ) and see if you can load your videos from the network. There's a desktop mode to the app so you don't need VR to do basic stuff
>HDD
quest2 disabled access to usb storage
you could copy films to the unit, watch them, delete, copy more
or you could stream from PC or DLNA server
>x265
yes
https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/hh5e1f/local_playing_of_x265_video_files_in_bigscreen/
Q3 also supports AV1 which Q2 didn't
>quest2 disabled access to usb storage
that's so israeli
Virtual desktop reigns king. You dont need pc to be vr capable for flat stuff. If it plays on your pc you can watch it in your headset.
>Heat VR
Based
Just got done eating out the Synth girl by a fireplace in a cabin
Wait, it's updated?
They added a cabin location last month
Wait, I suppose you've eaten her in another game, are there even fireplace in Heat?
Is Heat VR the one with realistic dragon foreskin?
I found the link but it's dead
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/583957068/#583977668
It was a futa orc not a dragon. From weebovr's patreon.

There actually is a game about dragon foreskin
Look up Artsbam_ on shitter
how many hours is the main quest?
Only like 10 minutes right now unfortunately
It's still really early
>Quest doesn't do on device porn
Yes it does, I've used Skybox with transfered files for years
Vtol VR for the best flipping switches "i'm really in here" flying and shit. War thunder has descent VR but unlocking stuff without paying sucks. Even cheaper - VR Chat - worlds with some basic flying mechanic and planes.
Assetto Corsa for driving - bit oldie but moddability is off the charts and often on sale.
No idea on mecha games, never saw a good one that is not a helicopter but on slow ass legs.
how is VR for watching movies?
I want a theatre experience, but I heard VR is too blurry to watch movies?
>I heard VR is too blurry to watch movies?
newer headsets like Quest 3 are high enough resolution with clearer lenses to make watching movies pretty good.
you've never used a Quest 3 so how do you know what it's like to watch movies
Not him but I've got a pico 4 which has pretty much the same specs as a Quest 3 (lenses and resolution)
so what? I wasn't talking to you then was I you fricking moron
it was already fine on Q2
and since Q3 has better optics, it would look bettererer
>you've never used a quest 3
That's why I said "newer headsets like Quest 3".
Higher resolution screen and clearer lenses will make watching movies a better experience.
but you don't actually know what it's like, so why mention or promote a headset you've not used over a headset you have used?
because I can infer from the given information, dumdum
you can't though. what you're doing is called bullshitting.
then the next dickhead will read you and think what you've wrote is based on your experience and he'll parrot it too. and on and on.
you end up with a large group of clueless c**ts all saying something is great without any of them actually having a clue.
you're a fricking moron
>what you're doing is called bullshitting
Not really. Do you have proof that the headsets having better resolutions and clearer lenses won't make watching movies an improved experience or are you now bullshitting me?
no. but I'm not saying that it is. you are , without actually using one.
you're simply a liar
>no
then you're the bullshitting one, not me.
Simple.
>this device is great for movies
have you used this device for movies to find out?
>no
fricking stupid c**t
>this device is great for movies
>have you used this device for movies to find out?
>no but I have used the Quest 2 and that was fine for movies so the Quest 3 with higher resolution screen and clearer lenses will be even better for watching movies
wow how controversial of a fact
so why name a device you've not used over a device you have used.
Why not say the Ques 2 was good for movies rather than big yourself up like you've tried a Quest 3
and you're doubling down after being called out on your bullshit too. funny
>Why not say the Ques 2 was good for movies rather than big yourself up like you've tried a Quest 3
I never said I tried a Quest 3 dumdum, that's why I went "newer headsets like Quest 3".
Are you a kid? Is that why you're angry that people claim the Q3 will be good for watching movie? You spent all your allowance on a Quest 2 and now you're coping you won't be able to get one?
Get a grip homosexual.
>why do you care if people just lie about things on the internet
where's the lie?
When did I say I used the Quest 3?
You can literally just go to best buy and try it yourself
i never leave my house
I demoed the Quest 3 at Best Buy yesterday.
VRChat world LSMedia is the best hassle free movie pirating service in existance.
>is too blurry to watch movies?
anything newer than Valve Index has at least 2000x2000 pixels per eye, which is definitely not blurry.
The most annoying part of VR movies is becoming aware of headset weight. Index at least is too heavy to be nice, but the newer headsets might be alright.
My reverb G2 is pretty good for it.
Vox Machinae you can play with VR controllers
Mechwarrior 5 VR mod you can play with a HOTAS
>planning to buy a quest 3
how fricking dumb do you have to be to fall for the vr meme in 2023?
pretty fricking dumb if you ask me.
I don't know for sure, but I can almost guarantee
you're a leaf
lmao the freaks with weird eyes swarm in to screech about vr without fail

because its a fun device and i have allocated more disposable income every 2 weeks then you make per month lol.
highly recommend david attenborough documentaries in 3d
he did like 6 or 7 of them, filmed in 3D
james cameron did 2 documentaries on the titanic in 3D, check those out too
I really wish disney would release phantom menace in 3D
and use AI to do the rest of the series in 3D
it's amazing how it manages to do it from a purely 2D shot
>Resident evil 4 VR
>Skyrim VR
>Fallout 4 VR (modded)
>VR porn
For the above alone it’s well worth the experience. For RE4 alone it’s worth it.
>Pro tip - if you have an open minded gf you can get them to suck your dick whilst you watch VR porn
>you can get them to suck your dick whilst you watch VR porn
pathetic
>gf
>them
lmao troony fricking homosexual
Them is a colloquial term used for a 3rd party. My partner is a biological female, I could not have sex with a trans person because it personally makes me feel very uncomfortable as I don’t personally see them as females - certainly if they have a penis.
>skyrim
>fallout
>just play rehashed trash bro
Lmao frick off you weirdo
>RE4 will forever be Quest only
I have a quest and played it, but it still sucks because I'd love for more capabilities and mods. The RE4 mod community has really picked up in the past few years, especially with nightmare difficulty stuff like Rising of Evil and I'd love for them to be VR capable.
The RE4VR modding community gave up almost instantly with it, there were a few texture mods that came out shortly after the game and that was it.
you know what, zuckerberg and palmer luckey are both around our age, do you ever think they came on Ganker and shitposted about vr?
Unless you are interested in quest standalone games, get Pico 4 instead for cheaper and basically the same quality.
>get Pico 4 instead for cheaper and basically the same quality.
Here's my 2 cents: DeoVR for downloaded VR porn videos, videos can be pretty hard to find. Got a couple from nyaa but can't find vr videos anymore. Amazon Prime video is pretty good for a theatre experience if you have prime and youtube in VR is fun for the novelty of trying it a couple times. Only good VR games from everything I've tried are VRChat, Beat Saber, Pavlov, and Blade and Sorcery. Sexlikereal dotcom has the highest quality without downloading and the trial vids are like 2-5min.
For VR porn videos try getting into a private tracker like emp. As for what headest, I'm just hoping Valve hurries the frick up with theirs.
>plane, mecha & driving games
Sim games are basically the only thing not dead on PC VR. New sim games often get VR support like the new WRC (rally) game coming out. You have to ease into those kind of games though or you will vomit. Not great for beginners.
Ive got a question for anyone with a VR headset that noone ever seems to answer:
How is it for non-VR games ?
Like, would you take it over a a big TV or a beamer ? Or is it bullshit ?
>How is it for non-VR games?
Do you mean playing it just on a virtual screen or using VorpX to make it stereo 3D?
Just like a big cinema screen
Like, making the screen so big that you cant even see the edges anymore
Eh, personally haven't used it much.
I like getting up and active when playing VR instead of just sitting down with the headset to play something.
I prefer using overlays but with virtual desktop alone I don't have any framerate issues. And I actually prefer the laser pointer mouse over a real mouse.
because the headset gets annoying after 1-2hrs, I'd still prefer a big tv for regular games
quest3 has better weight distribution, so I may use it longer
I dont think you should get VR just to play regular games, unless you use vorpx, or you're playing dolphin VR or 3ds emulation on a large screen
but eventually vr/ar will be fine for that
I use for virtual monitors when playing flat games. Open up vr cam girls as my background in steamvr then overlay 2 or 3 monitors to watch movies n stuff while I play. Framerate can get choppy on the overlays but I'm just using a 1080 so it's probably struggling
I've had the quest 2 since release, so almost 3 years now.
I've been playing games for roughly 300 hours, 250 of those being PCVR games. I've also spend about 1000-1200 hours with porn.
VAM and GOAT are my go to porn games.
DeoVR for videos, mostly CGI stuff found on kemono.
One of my favorite things to do though is just finding regular r34 and hentai using tags like pov, first_person_view, looking at viewer, presenting.
I then scale up the browser so the characters become real life sized and place the browser window in my lap.
what is vam and goat?
>One of my favorite things to do though is just finding regular r34 and hentai
lame lame lame lame pathetic pathetic pathetic pathetic
Now with virtual desktop chroma key you can put those (2d as well) in your room etc. Only thing that makes me want color pass-through atm
so standalone headsets are garbage for vr porn?
where are you getting this from, you moron?
All standalone headsets are also PCVR headsets. But you can also copy some video files and play them on a video player on standalone itself without pc.
its literally the 2nd post in this thread
.
Others are recommending deovr but does that run on the headset or i have to wire it up? Im aware there are wireless options but the quality goes down.
deovr has a quest app that plays videos directly from the headset, no pc required
but you can also use deovr through pcvr through usb or wireless if you want to use that for some reason
or stream by DLNA, but I don't want gigabytes of data beamed by wifi right next to my head for 2hrs, which is why I prefer just copying videos over and not having compression
Modern wifi give more bandwitch than quest USB-C port can support
yeah and it might give you a brain tumor or alzeihmers that no doctor will ever say was caused by wifi, no thanks
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7453585/
I dont even keep wifi on my phone unless it's 1m away from my body

I hope you use as much wifi as humanly possible and get chronic diseases in your 40s, while you moronic local doctor has no clue what may be causing it
eek eek said the guinea pig
Nobody is using 2.4 Ghz wifi for their headsets
show studies for other frequencies then
can you show me long term effects? oh the other frequencies haven't been used for a decade yet, so we have no clue if it's indirectly linked to cancers
guess it must be safe then!!
go bomb a 5g tower you nutso
a 5g tower isn't beaming data 2cm away from my brain
google the inverse square law moron
every cell in your body is affected
in 20 years there will finally be studies, and it will be too late for you to exercise caution lololol
>a 5g tower isn't beaming data 2cm away from my brain
If you use a phone connected to 5G it is, dummy
I always keep my phone away from my body, only use it for emergency calls and dont use it for data intensive activities
my exposure is extremely low
btw most 5G frequencies can't even pass through skin
but 2.4ghz, 5ghz and other wifi frequencies do
so you don't have any routers in your house?
I dont have wireless routers right against my head, and I have wifi turn off totally at night because it does affect your sleep, your biology feels every pulse
this is what your cells have to cope with
which is why I rarely use wifi/cellphones for data intensive stuff
distance does dampen the power of waves, so as long as I keep distance, I reduce any chance of future health issues dramatically
I'm worried about health effects, not mind control
>I'm worried about health effects, not mind control
good
what's your take on MKultra?
For some reason theyre obsessed with my ball's. It's super weird.
I only use deovr for broken videos (it's easy to fix em) but that seems to have only been a thing on early videos. Now I use virtual desktop exclusively. It has its own video player with all the 3d types
I'm thinking of buying a Quest 3 as my first VR headset. If I'm just planning on using it mostly connected to my PC should I even bother with the higher storage space model or would 128 GB be fine with what I plan to use it for?
128gb is fine if you're pcvr only
if you plan on playing quest 2/3 games, or watching videos off the headset, more space is better
even if you plan to play native games, and even if quest 3 games double in size compared to quest 2, 128gb is more than enough.
yeah maybe
though MOH was like 40gb by itself
I'd go with the bigger one. I made the mistake of buying the smaller one with quest 2. Ended up having to upgrade. At first it will be fine but update sizes start getting ridiculous. Also the bigger comes with 6 months of quest plus subscription. So basically free games. Can save some money on tech demos cause native vr games usually suck (vr modded games are the best)
Don't get a quest, in the long run, the quality isn't worth it. I have a rift, and it works great, I got it 5 or so years ago and the quality improves with my PC.
I'd say VR is still just a novelty, but the fun is most certainly worth it!
But overall Rift > Quest
>1000x1000 per eye
Bro, CV1 is a respectable device but recommending it in 2023 is ridiculous. RiftS even more so.
If you want PCVR there is two routes:
QUALITYMAXXING:
Bigscreen Beyound, Index Controllers, Basestations.
or
POORMAXING:
Pico 4
(optionally used quest 2 for extra super cheap)
That's it.
Alternatively if you also want to play standalone games:
QUEST 3.
That's it.
Will the Pico 4 be better than the Quest 3?
for PCVR they are on par, but Pico 4 is cheaper.
Quest 3 has faster CPU/GPU and better passthrough cameras(who cares?), bigger standalone library. Lens quality might be better due to non chink QA.
Otherwise they are on par.
>better passthrough cameras(who cares?)
If you want to play around with AR porn, you should care
I'd rather be in some nice world instead of my stinky room
Pico 4 is ok for the price but it has some issues. Notably I think the wifi antennas are worse than quest 2, so highly likely the quest 3 will be better. It's important when you're doing wireless pcvr at high bitrate.
As for wired pcvr, the encoding resolution is limited to 2560x2560 compared to 3120x3120 on virtual desktop and it makes a big difference. Pico is ignoring the issue of people wanting higher res with the free streaming assistant. The quests you can set the resolution to whatever you want and have the bitrate via USB-C be super high like 600mbps.
Now there's technically a way to use virtual desktop via wire using a ethernet to usb-c adapter but the problem is most of them are fricking trash and will either just die or not even work as advertized ( low bandwidth or power supply input not working).
I bought my pico earlier in the year and getting a quest 3 right now is a bit useless but if I was a newbie to VR, the fact that the Q3 is gonna be so popular and supported by literally everyone makes you really consider paying the 150$ premium.
Oh yeah and the pico 4 doesn't have a headphone jack which is really fricking annoying. I had to find a usb-c adapter with power input as well as 3.5mm jack. If you live completely alone by yourself with not a soul in a 100m radius then you won't need it but godfricking damn, being able to hear outside dogs barking, cars or simply other people in the house doing their thing is unfuriating and immersion breaking.
Overall I think I've spent 150$ on accessories to tailor the P4 to my liking. Face gasket, strap + battery pack, usb-c jack + power with dac adapter and Index style elastic band for the controllers.
Quest 3 is better than Pico 4.
Pico is such a shit choice when it comes to software. Even if you plan to use it for PCVR you have to understand many games are not even coming to PCVR anymore. The Meta funded games are obvious (Asgard's Wrath 2/Assassin's Creed Nexus) but beyond that Vampire The Masquerade - Justice is coming out for Quest and PSVR2. A 3rd party game is not even bothering with PC, expect more to follow. Pico is just a terrible choice until it starts getting software like this unless you ONLY care about the PCVR games that are already out. Pico doesn't even have Beat Saber, probably the best game for a stand-a-lone VR.
beat saber is barely a decent vr game, let alone a good one.
Can someone answer this?
Figures a person with a PS5 doesn't like actual video games
>he thinks pancake games arent actual games
God of War and Horizon aren't actual games
I am in the fgc and a resident evil fan
recommend me something you enjoyed to play on my quest 3/pcvr. can be anything: a game, hidden gem, porn, 2 minute long demo you found on itch.io that had a neat gimmick, a documentary. I owned a rift s so obviously know about hl alyx so looking for something new but i'm not familiar with the quest library at all outside of re4.
>recommend me something you enjoyed to play on my quest 3/pcvr
Zooma.
It's a VR version of Zuma and pretty fun.
I've immensely enjoyed Compound and wish there were more games like it (Light Brigade is somewhat similar but not quite what I'm looking for), looking forward to what the dev does next. Superhot VR was neat if a little underwhelming.
Quake 3 VR (played the Q2 version, not sure if it exists on other platforms) was a surprisingly good experience, you would think it might make you sick due to how fast it is but I've encountered no problems whatsoever.
Cruelty Squad has a VR mod, it's an experience.
Far Cry VR mod.
gtfo vr mod
Vivecraft minecraft mod. Use shaders, ambient sound mods, and sound physics mods if your PC can handle it so the game looks better and has much more immersive sound like echoes in caves, birds when you're outside, waves by the ocean, etc.
Gzdoom VR with the voxel doom mod. Classic doom with 3d monsters that fit exactly with the original artstyle. I think there's a voxel doom ii mod but I'm not sure if it's compatible with vr.
Apparently the review embargo for Q3 lifts in 5 minutes so there should be some more indepth videos going up.
Hour long video of Norm from Tested
Watching at 2x speed. He said the headset is comfortable with glasses on so you don't need to buy lenses. Controller tracking is good. With PCVR you can get it to the point where there's almost no compression.
>With PCVR you can get it to the point where there's almost no compression.
through wireless or with a cable?
It doesn't matter. This is something people are woefully moronic about. The cable does not give you direct video. When using the cable the Quest still compresses the display output to a video feed and sends it over the cable the exact same way as wireless mode, and the cable output bitrate is still capped at the same as wireless too, so if you've already got your wifi maxing out the meter on the test program (300mbps) you've already capped what you're going to get over the cable as well. Cable will give you nothing for improved quality, just (minimally) better latency.
>airlink instructions on meta site
>Router in the same room as the headset or in line-of-sight, and at least 1m off the ground
this is a nonstarter for a huge majority of users. This is why we tether.
I have no issue using all over the house. They have to say that cause people are to moronic to understand not to use mesh (isp provided routers). Using directly next to a mesh router will usually keep it from switching back and forth from 5g to 2.4
you have to have your PC wired directly to the router for it to work. Many people do not have access to plug into a router
noob here with preorder for MQ3
so what you're saying is, the cable should be as good as the airlink-bridge thingy, if not better?
(minus the obvious, not wireless, drawbacks)
I don't have a wifi6 router yet, have shit internet, and they won't even ship the Dlink to my region on amazon.
so i bought the cable. it should be decent for PCvr right?
>Q3 for PCVR
cringe
well i get it's not the best, but its my first headset and I figured it would be a good starting point to see if I even like VR
if I do enjoy it, it will just be a placeholder until decakrd/index 2 comes out anyway.
I just couldn't justify buying a 4 year old index kit with so many rumors about decakrd shit around
get a PSVR2
ignore the seething from tetheredcels. the quest 3 has better specs than the index and the compression is unnoticeable.
VR is definitely not worth the thousands of dollars the best headsets cost. It's amazing at first for like a month until it starts feeling like a chore to play. But, for the price of a PS5 you can't really go wrong with it. VR has more games than a PS5 and you can pirate all of them.
>pirating in 2023
Don't care. I do not buy any gaming hardware unless I can pirate enough games that require that hardware to make up the entire cost of it
Personally I hated the cable and refunded it after a few days. I forgot why but it looked weird. Get it from Amazon so it's an easy return if under 30 days. If you have a wifi 5 router with the 5g seperated form the 2.4 you should be fine. Still need the pc wired directly to the router tho. Actual internet speed is irrelevant cause it's only going from the hmd to the pc.
>almost
lol
considering how much compression Quest 2 could have, that's pretty good
If you ran Q2 at max res via either cable link or virtual desktop at 300+ mbps then the only compression artifact you get are fricking anomalies in very specific games. I'm talking like textures at weird angles where anistropic filtering just shits itself and then the encoder doesn't know what to do with it. Often obvious when there's heavy vegetation. But in game like VR chat? Pffff, even at 100mbps you'll be hard pressed to notice any compression since every worlds and avatar are anime bawds with bright colors and cartoon style.
Wonder if he means less compression at lower speeds then
With AV1 and HEVC yes but then you take a toll on encoding and decoding latency. If you're wireless then your max bandwidth you'll achieve without getting too many framedrops will depend on how much cash you want to dump in a high rend router, as for cable link well I think it's more useful to use the good old h264 at super high bitrate (600+)
In Skyrim I had very specific textures and water having artifacts annoying enough that I wanted to see what it would look like at 400, and it really did reduce them by quite a lot but I can't sustain that bandwidth via wireless with my current setup (only if I'm not moving my head at all which is a deal breaker).
>If you ran Q2 at max res via either cable link or virtual desktop at 300+ mbps then the only compression artifact you get are fricking anomalies in very specific games.
lol
You're running some mid GPU at lower than 100% scaling if you don't see compression artifacts

>the default strap is passable this time
thank god
I spent so much on quest 2 straps. I've come to the conclusion that the bobovr halo strap is the best. Will go immediately to that for the quest 3 too.
what makes the bobovr strap better than the elite strap?
hot swapable battery packs, comes with a dock for the packs and better weight distribution
Alright then.
Seems like they stock the bobovr straps on amazon UK so that's good.
I tied a sock full of change to the back of the strap as a counterweight and it made it way better for basically free.

I can think of many MR uses though, they will come eventually
>well yeah, it just came out...
That's no excuse not to have a good launch library of MR apps.
MR isn't the issue, devs are
also pretty sure they only finalised the hardware in the last 6 months, last year rumors said it would still be using fresnel lenses
most devs will only start making apps when they've actually got a Q3 in their hands
where's survivorman vr?

pretty sure only the big ones that consult with fb get access to early units
zuck is moronic not to allow easy recording of 3d content, what's even the point of a 3d device that can't record videos in 3d
maybe it'll come in a firmware update?
shouldn't be too hard to do
probably they need more time to design how the permissions should work so games and apps can't just record what you see and send it back to their servers
>shouldn't be too hard to do
Carmack implemented proper 3d recording in an afternoon and it never got approved by zuck, apple headset can take 3d videos, maybe zuck will allow it
i made a note of new stuff coming out on quest this year that looks interesting to me. noted if it's coming out on PC too.

No bullshit, what exactly is there to do with a vr headset that isn’t porn? Does it really enhance gameplay for simulations very well such as racing or more importantly flying sims?
car racing is fricking amazing in vr. it adds so much immersion.
It makes them more immersive at the cost of potential motion sickness, performance and resolution decrease. You could get gameplay benefits like seeing what cars are next to you by looking around the wienerpit, or being able to see the apex of the corner easier. If the game has hand tracking support you can interact with things in the wienerpit instead of having a hundred keybinds.
the frick do you need reviews for
either you interested in the 3d stereoscopic-in-your-face gimmick that makes you motion pick or you don't
like how the frick do you even convince someones to buy a racing wheel or a flight stick when all the contradictory opinions are "uuuuuuuh it's just as good on my gamepad, I don't see the point"
like if you truly gave a shit you'd watch a video of a guy playing a flight sim in vr and you'd be amazed simply at the decoupled head movement for the wienerpit camera
What are some underrated porn games, or even just simple animation viewers.
waifu sex simulator, it's free
I like Yiffalicious. That fox is something else.
If you use a referral link you can get free store credit to buy Virtual Desktop and then pirate everything else.
can I still get referral credit if I owned a rift S or do I need to make a new account?
You can get a referral link automatically without begging too
meta-dog.github.io/meta-dog/
You can even use game specific referrals to get a discount on those too
nice, thanks.
The whole world needs to be given a test with a VR headset and if you INSTANTLY lose your sense of surrounding/awareness you should be euthanized
>VR Game
>you play as floating gloves
>menus and hud float in random places
yup is trash
disregard that, I suck wieners
The Bigscreen Beyond hasn't been shipped to any normal consumers yet right?
There's a waiting list to get it shipped. I think if your order now it's supposed to be Q1 2024
they have issues with component shortages.
I got mine a couple of weeks ago. It's a lot of fun.
How is it? I only have a Quest 2 right now. Ever use it for those really high res vr porn videos yet?
12K videos look nice. The resolution is to the point where the videos are lower res than the panels. It's very comfy, I like using it for really long sessions as a lot of what I play are flat game ports that can take time. The colors are really good too, microOLED is night and day compared to my older LCD headset. My main complaint right now would be that there aren't any built in speakers yet. I'm just using earbuds until the official audio strap comes out, but some dudes have 3D printed adapters to use Quest headstraps with it.
Hows the brightness?
its shipping, just slowly
t. have mine
Reminder to keep your lens covered. The sun is scary.
big oof
F
Where the frick is UEVR mod?
They're cooooding
>neon prime was trademarked exactly one year before the quest 3 release date
What's the next cope date for deckard? Now that all the events where it was 100% real this time and being announced at gamescom, the game awards, the international and meta's event have passed?
Is it really the deckard or they are testing streaming to a standalone device from steam?
AV1 baby
godin is a tard
>you can get a whopping 200Mbps video signal
lol
AV1 is good at low bitrate. This is only 15mbps at 4K. 200mbps is more than enough.
I mean HEVC and AV1 have always been great at low bitrates but the real problem is that it doesn't scale when you go to 50/100/150/200 etc.
For example let's say at h264 50mbps you'd get the same quality at AV1 15mbps, but at h264 400mbps you'd get the same at AV1 350mbps. Forgive me I'm tired and drunk but hopefully you get the idea.
why do you even need 10bit if there's no HDR, it's 4:2:0 garbage encoding anyways
VR is a meme
>dad is even fatter and still looks disappointed
Can't really judge the son when he's actually fricking moving more and is less fat. Peak envy
Mine finally shipped. Should get it tomorrow.
Anyone bought the prescription lenses from zenni? I haven't heard from them at all since placing my order a few weeks ago and it still hasn't shipped. What's the point of a preorder if you can't get it to me by release day.
>Anyone bought the prescription lenses from zenni?
I'll wait to see what it's like with my glasses.
Also waiting for the bobovr strap to be orderable.
according to reviews glasses comfortably fit inside, but you could probably get slightly higher fov with custom lenses because your eyes will be closer to the screen.
In my experience (with a quest 2), VR is sort of worth it. There are a lot of fun, unique games that only really work in VR (VTOLvr and TacticalAssault are good fun, especially with friends).
However, keep in mind that you'll need some room to flail your arms around. Your eyes will hurt after just a few minutes the first few times you wear it, and motion sickness is a guarantee until you get used to movement in VR (mostly in FPS games).
I really don't see why anyone would watch movies with VR. it's a lot less enjoyable compared to watching stuff on a high res monitor without a heavy piece of tech strapped to my head
>never tried VR before but I wanna try it for plane, mecha & driving games
If you wanna actually use VR for real games like this especially DCS or IL-2, skip the facebook meta trash and get a pimax. WARNING you will need an actual GPU to run the high end headsets like the pimax, but the FOV and visual clarity are more than worth the cost.
Don't listen to the poorgays in this thread that will say otherwise, most of them can't even afford VR let alone a $5000 setup.
I mean, at that point he may as well just get a bigscreen beyond.
Less jank and a better overall user experience.
I wouldn't' say VR is dead, but it's awfully slow.
We're getting two fairly high profile games in the next two months, and maybe one more, I forgot.
If you want to just try VR out, a used quest 2 might be less commitment, but the quest 3 is definitely better in every way if you can swing it. VR porn is basically something you'll want to connect to your pc for, I've never personally found it that great, it can be kind of awkward and often makes me wish I could just touch what I'm looking at, but some people swear by it.
Actually basically the entire unreal catalog gets a vr mod by end of year
>shitty seated desktop vr mods
Yeah, nah. Give me full 6DoF controlls or frick off
Praydog injector mod is baked in 6dof and roomscale homosexual
for guns?
As I understood, guns get only 3dof? Or it's default option to not frick up hands too much?
> guns get only 3dof?
INTO THE TRASH
It's better than nothing
Early versions were. Now 6dof is essential baked in
it's practically dead, no real games have been released for years and the only stuff people enjoy now are normal games being ported to VR
because who doesnt want to play HL1 in VR
>portal 2 vr mod
>half life 2
reason enough to spend $200 on a quest 2
>even the shill channels are annoyed about the lack of launch games for Quest 3
lmao
as if pico varjo or bigscreen had launch titles
none of those were pushing an exclusive standalone library.
buy a bigscreen beyond
>but I wanna try it for plane, mecha & driving games
Why limit yourself, shooters are very good as well.
quest isn't really real vr
Getting mine tomorrow. Where do I find 4k 3D movies?
HURRY THE FRICK UP AND ANNOUNCE SOMETHING!
Realistically, when can we expect their next project?
imagine giving mark zuckerburg cameras inside your own house
btw the device talks to facebook servers even when you're not using it. Make sure to cover it when not in use unless you want video footage of yourself and your family leaking online
Just caved in bros. Had an OG rift but nothing in between that and the quest 3. If it's shit I'm going to refund and do a blog post.
What would you anons rather have?
1) Quest 3 128gb + battery strap + perscription inserts
or
2) 2 new pancake PS5 games and keep using Quest 2
Quest 3 seems like a much better value. Unless you really want those ps5 games, but ps5 has no games.
anyone tried this? it's some kind of new technology for 3D scanning.
https://github.com/clarte53/GaussianSplattingVRViewerUnity
When I bought quest 2 and looked through it i could immediately tell that i could only get clarity by looking straight ahead and had to rotate my entire head to look around and could not just rotate my eyes. Is this still the same with quest 3 or ?
Never used it, but that's what the pancake lenses are for. However, apparently on Q Pro pancake lens had orange tints around the edges of your vision I have no idea if the Quest 3 makes it better.
Tried the Quest 3 at Best Buy, it also has orange tinting at the edges. Not enough to really hurt the experience but it does seem to indicate that it's a physical characteristic of this type of lens if this is yet another headset experiencing it
Were any of the scenes in the demo even dark? Apparently that's what makes it really bad. Just gonna wait for more people to get it because I find it suspicious literally none of the reviews mention it at all.
>Tried the Quest 3 at Best Buy, it also has orange tint
It's one of those things that varies with each headset. Like glare for example so some can get very little tint, while others can get a lot more.
>Is this still the same with quest 3 or ?
No, that effect of only having straight forward clarity is the result of fresnel lenses, the Quest 3 uses pancake lenses
The problem with VR porn is that the focal length used on 3D cameras is too much. When you watch VR porn you feel like an actual giant and everyone is super fricking small. I watched an Aika video and her head legitimately seemed to be the size of a grapefruit, it feels strange and is extremely distracting.
>things that never happened
I have watched (literally) hundreds of VR porn scenes and that's a problem in like... maybe 2% of them and they were all old ones.
Name them
no, but these are the ones I still have, and I've deleted like half of them
>AR doesn't have occlusion at launch
What were they thinking?
Any good coop games?
modded skyrim alone is enough the price of a q3
wtf that's me
If you're gonna fall for the VR meme, I would recommend you instead get HP's headset and valve's other shit.
why tho?
Valve's controllers are the best available if you decide to actually play games. The headset currently has the best display and is compatible with valve's VR equipment 100%. Plus it's outside of the "meta" ecosystem, currently, so it'll be a bit more open and easier to frick with across the board if you are a pirate. Quest requires more hoops to jump through to isolate it from the ecosystem (if you still can, who knows, I didn't follow quest 3's development).
Valves controllers are a meme. I would take PSVR2 controllers over that any day
Only if they move on from the Vive Wands.
Seriously, when I upgraded to index controllers on my old Vive my enjoyment doubled.
That's what I said. You can buy just the headset, or at least you used to be able to. Get the controllers from Valve like a normal person.
Vive has been shitting the bed so hard lately I doubt they can make a decent product at this point.
>valve has been shitting the bed so hard lately
only in their gaming division specifically, and even then that's after half life alyx released which was a good game. I think my steam deck's awesome personally, in no way do I think that "shit the bed" other than its mediocre battery life.
I said Vive as in HTC
What game is he talking about?
#t=30s
Play vrchat! Didn’t you always dream of being the anime girl?
VRChat is better for starting to learn Japanese or Sign Language.
think im just gonna wait for the deckard tbqh
