The VS Seeker alone puts Platinum above every game without the VS Seeker or the nu-Exp Share.
All the available pokemon have good movesets or good stats or both.
The existence of Emerald's Battle Frontier does not invalidate Platinum's. Platinum is still one of the THREE games with a Battle Frontier. Emerald's Palace is also pure feces and the worst facility period, so Emerald's BF is not even "objectively" better.
Whatever flaws arise from the small Pokedex is easily worked around. The trainers outside the Pokemon Mansion provide tons of money when rematched, money you can use at the Game Corner to get strong TMs for coverage. Just put Flamethrower on something if the Fire types in Platinum don't satisfy you for whatever reason.
Put the Difficulty section in the trash. Cynthia is the other most popular boss along with Red and you just have to cope with that eternally. Platinum's gyms and E4 are alright too. USUM and PLA might have harder sections but Platinum has not and never will be seen as one of the easier games in the series.
