I play stalker on my laptop. it gets warm but that's how cooling works

Stalker SoC has an issue where the framerate isn't limited. You may be running over 1000 frames per second, which causes your laptop to heat up.

I'll look into it thanks, but the fans never max out so I've always figured I'm ok

Maybe because they weren't fricking meant to play videogames on you spastic. Doesn't matter if it runs or not, regardless of specs, its meant for work/office shit. You gonna complain that rain is wet next?

Anon, PC towers can hit up to 75 with good cooling. Of course a laptop with no spacing between the GPU and CPU, with stock entry and exit fans are gonna lead to your CPU/GPU killing itself.

I've had a gaming laptop for more than 5 years now. Here are some tips I can give ya:

    >Resolution/framerate/antialiasing matters for temperature
I'm out of the loop about the latest but playing games at 720p/30fps stabilizes the temperature greatly for me.

    >Disabling hyperboost
Got to power plan -> Processor management or whatever -> Set it down to 99% to disabling the overclocking some cpu's do automatically.

    >Get a coolin pad, play with a fan on.
Preferably the fan pointing at you and the laptop but also at a window or room's doorway so the heat can gtfo.

Laptops (if you're gonna game on one) are only good for playing old games and roguelikes if you spend most of your day out of your house. If you're trying to play AAA games on a laptop just get a damn desktop

    >>It gets warm/hot regardless

... anon, it's not meant to stay at room temperature. The computer getting warm is okay. It would be a lot fricking warmer if the cooling fan were not there.

    1. Don't put the laptop on your lap. Have some open air or a cooling fan below it.
    2. Get some ice packs and a towel. Place the towel over as much of the laptop as you can while still being able to play and then place the ice pack.
    3. Use lowest graphic settings possible.

i bought a display unit gaming laptop with a nice mechanical keyboard. you can't really use the mechanical keyboard when gaming because there is too much vibration from the fans running at full speed.

Ah yes, the laptops that are known for destroying their screen cables, keyboards dying, low quality parts in general, proprietary parts you cant buy, need a dongle for everything, etc are the only acceptable laptops around.
