that one brand (trident) that gives your sword a chance to slash three times in one attack. wear some luck armor and now every attack you do hits three times and each of those 3 hits can crit.
first person dungeon crawler roguelike.
genre is played out now but it wasn't back when this came out. and it has interesting mechanics that force you to play aggressively.
Got the pure water in the lab and gave it to the npc in the tower, On the next run I reach floor 20 and there's a gate saying "killer" "go away" pushing me back.
oh.
you used the gun didn't you. that kills the littles inside it.
you murderer.
basically you need to reload your gun, talk to the Guardian angel to recharge it and get a scolding.
using the gun for the first run is fine, and during the first run you get plenty of hints that using the gun is bad and you shouldn't use it, and the person who gives it to you already doesn't look trustworthy.
you can use it and you'll get an ending if you use it but it's not the "good" ending.

so it's not as bad as the D Counter cancer, got it
your play through should be
Don't kill god just go through him(this kill your bro)
kill longneck once he buries himself
give long neck soul to the guard
kill guard as he buries himself and get bro soul
give bro soul to ghost girl
give soul to god
???
Profit
it's an aquired taste. you'll really love it and w on't stop thinking about it for years or you won't care about it at all.
the core gameplay loop is fine but it demands alot of you to get the true ending.
if i had to dumb it down i'd say it's wizardry with a SMT aesthetic.
>wizardry
so a first person dungeon crawler but everything has gone to shit (really popular aesthetics with japs in the 00's)? might check it out

remember watching a bit of the PS2 ver and the guy didn't use the gun either. I hate when they promote something cool on the games cover but is actually shit in game. looking at you AC2.
if you really want to use the gun and still get the good ending you can, there's an NPC you meet in the latter parts of the dungeon that reloads it for you after scolding you, so you can use it as much as you want before meeting them. it's mostly a moral thing, if you're ok with basically killing children with every bullet then go right ahead.
The PS2 game is on my 3x3 and it has loved rent free for years, even insofar I made paintings of bits of it. And now you guys are telling me I've been playing the inferior version?! When the Wizardry games are my stress relief games?!
it's time for you to rediscover Baroque.
learn japanese and play Saturn version or just[ spoiler] PS1 with an english i guess[/spoiler]
Play the PS1 visual novel prequel.
Read the Manga.
Read the light novels.
Take a deep dive in the neocities website, think of it like nerve tower to explore on your browser.
if you're gonna do anything from this post it's reading the manga.
it's pretty good. got that 90s studio CLAMP aesthetic.
it's basically a complete playthrough of the game with more lore sprinkled in. also yet another alternate ending.
the manga is top tier but I do think it removes the feeling of isolation of the original
but if you're just interested on the plot yeah it's the superior option
I speak Nihon, and I know of the LNs and the artbook.
Most of the extra Baroque stuff came from a tumblr years and years ago, not that site so I'm excited.

Did know about the manga but I'm always hesitant with videogame manga after Valkyrie Profile and Blazblue.
[...]
The Saturn version is the superior version and it got an English patch last summer I think, anyway that's how I played the game. PS1 translation has been around longer so mkst people know that one.
The music alone gives it a completely different vibe and you know SOUL graphics nonsense
that being said it's a first person tank control roguelite dungeon crawler
getting killed by enemies you can't even see will be common occurrence
the story is exactly the same tho, I'd actually recommend to check the VN prequel, it's fully translated and posted on a fan website
I will play. I will play. I'm excited and happy the story isn't too different.
>Did know about the manga but I'm always hesitant with videogame manga after Valkyrie Profile and Blazblue.
it has a different vibe and due to the need to translate a single player game into a reading experience it changes several things but for the most part it respects the core plot
think of it as an official AU

i'd like to add that it has its own artistic value even as a standalone product, it's not just a retread of the game, the art is good and there are scenes that definitely tug at the heart strings and make you want to step outside for a second. the interactions with the brother near the end get to me

I played the switch port when it came out several years ago. It was pretty good. It's not as cryptic as it seems, I found it very easy to understand and get into.
>gotten the twisted coat + the parasite that makes it null all status effects and vampire sword on both wii and PS2 >finished neither version of the game
Baroque wiener
I'll wait for it to be fixed, thanks.
I will play the PS2 version only.
But the Saturn version is the best one
no. Black person. play saturn or PS1 if you can't into japanese.
I can into japanese... Does this use lots of obscure terms and phrases?
You literally didn't play or finish the game then. It's a different game.
Le roguelike. What's the coolest in baroque item and why?
that one brand (trident) that gives your sword a chance to slash three times in one attack. wear some luck armor and now every attack you do hits three times and each of those 3 hits can crit.
why should I?
it's fun. the story is cool.
also your reward for the true ending is to have sex with god.
what's the gameplay like?
realtime mystery dungeon
first person dungeon crawler roguelike.
genre is played out now but it wasn't back when this came out. and it has interesting mechanics that force you to play aggressively.
meant for
no,play saturn you'll be fine
Recently been playing the ps1 version, reached the locked gate on floor 20 something and have no idea what to do next.
what locked gate?
did you kill god for the first time (not the simulation) and see the cutscene ?
did you harvest the pure water?
Got the pure water in the lab and gave it to the npc in the tower, On the next run I reach floor 20 and there's a gate saying "killer" "go away" pushing me back.
oh.

There's only a worker angel on the floor, guess I'll have to do it from the start. Thanks.
so using the gun forces you back to the beginning?
Sounds like bad game design on the level of Dragon Quarter's D Counter
using the gun for the first run is fine, and during the first run you get plenty of hints that using the gun is bad and you shouldn't use it, and the person who gives it to you already doesn't look trustworthy.

is it any good?
the only think I liked from the PS2 version was the OP, unsurprisingly made by the same studio that did P3's opening

you mean as in random people or NPC's you can interact with
not that it matters much considering the ending but w/e

I already did on the Wii but I couldn't get the translation patch for the PS1 version working have they released a patched iso?
Bro, your Romance for Compact Discs?
Other than graphics homosexualry, is tger a reason to deal with saturn emulation?
nah the differences are purely visual, also performance related like better frame rate, PS1 is pretty choppy.
Worked on my machine with Mednafen Saturn
>deal with saturn emulation
the frick are you talking about, the saturn emulates flawlessly now
This game soundtrack is fricking good.
this one lives in my head rent free:
I will but after SF
Damn, I really gotta start emulating. There's nothing to play nowadays.
>baroque thread

I have never heard of this game till right now. Looking into it ill have to give it a try.
play saturn with patch.
avoid wii.
Play PS1 with patch
Play Wii/PS2
Read Manga
Read VN prequel
play the mobile shooting game
>play the mobile shooting game
huh?
i know the VN got a mobile port idk about the shooting game part
look for literally baroque shooting mobile on youtube
it's a really bizarre game and not the only mobile game there is
well i'll be fricking damned.
baroque bullet hell.
I did. It got pretty samey and hunger goes down way too fast
Should I retry it? PS2 or wii? Combat sucked on PS1
>gotten the twisted coat + the parasite that makes it null all status effects and vampire sword on both wii and PS2
>finished neither version of the game
