Most players won't even participate in any kind of community - they'll just download the game, try it out without even reading a single thread or update article, and maybe they'll play it with a friend or two, and that's it. Either way, the number of people that bother to join a discord server for a game that they aren't even immediately having issues with is absolutely fricking tiny - even right now over on the Steam Discussions there's plenty of threads talking about FACEIT and how it should never be implemented despite a dev saying on the Discord server that it supposedly isn't happening anyway.

The best way to deal with hackers is to actually pay people to deal with reports as they come in, develop tools that allow you to discern hackers from normal players or even laggy ones (for example, recording each game in a way that lets a moderator access the replays and check for obvious hackers for one - some other games already do something like this from memory), and implement shit like death cams and such to make it easier for players to identify them and submit reports. There isn't an anticheat around that will completely filter them out, and the more effective they are the more invasive and performance-hogging they become.
I don't care how bad hackers are on your game, I won't install that kind of shit on my PC on principle. Deal with it another way that doesn't infringe on the rights and privacy of your paying customers.

The problem is that more effective methods are significantly more costly, and any tools you try to develop quickly become obsolete as cheat makers continue to develop workarounds. Unless you have infinite resources, trying to out develop cheaters is a losing battle.

Again, that's very costly, and that's a constant cost that will never go away because cheats are always developing and evolving. You can't just develop something and then you're done with it when the cheaters are always actively trying to find new ways around it.

For my first 500 hrs playing rocket league I really cared about skins and unlocks. Having a professional looking car was important to me.
I completely stop caring for hours 501-2000. I play the game to play the game. Watch and pro play rocket league and none of them care about their car design.
It automatically activates when prone or near cover that's the right height. Right now I think its pretty fricked since most cover is either too tall or short to use, so the only reliable way to deploy it is to go prone.

Characters clip through walls. Gunplay is not bad I like that tap fire is actually useful. Just to name a few things.

Probably network performance related, buckshot shotguns have 12x the physics simulation cost per trigger pull, currently it's only possible for players to spawn 256 projectile physics objects simulateneously, a single shotgun uses ~5% of that budget on its own and a 50 player server with shotguns would have the same potential network overhead as a 256 player one without.

The M249 is pretty decent with attachments but actually unlocking them in the first place is an utter pain, and the general gameplay and map design really doesn't lend itself to things with slow movement and ADS time. They'd be better if there was wall penetration.

Yeah with how heavily it was being pushed I also assumed it was some kind of F2P game. Learning that it actually costs money on top of the other issues makes it really fricking sad to me that people are pushing it this heavily. At least if it were free you they might have had a leg to stand on.
One trick I use with the bipod is to set up down a medium distance long street or hallway from a window. Place a barrier the long way facing the window so you can lie down on it. Instead of the bipod not registering w the window you just prone on your barrier so you can aim down that way. Theres also places with walls/fences where you can use a sandbag to climb and then shoot over the wall and the bipod registers fairly well
Too long distance you get fricked by snipers or singleshot dudes
Too short you get flanked or naded

The simple geometry helps the FPS. If this was battlefield we'd have tons of uneven terrain, bushes, rubble with rebar, dirt piles, janky bullshit you stub your toe on and cant move. Here you just move fast in a relatively clean environment

Earlier I assumed there must be some hard limit on claymores. But I summoned an ammo box and just kept spamming claymores, often hiding them behind barriers near doorways and stairs. I played an entire round on frontline tarrytown 90% of my time was being claymore man and went 40 and 10.
Im still not sure what the claymore limit is. I counted 10 of my claymores down at one point but I died before I could get more out or safely go and count how many others I got. Ive been using support too to have heavy ammo box but most of my squadmates never build a barrier or sandbag so we end up with thousands of squad points and I can just spam whatever

The magazine mechanics are fine I think, being able to combine mags unlike most games that do this is pretty nice, but that bleeding shit is pure anti-fun and needs to fricking go.

They need to more heavily restrict the weapon selection to specific classes (only assault should get ARs, only sniper should get dmrs, only engineer should get carbines, only medic should get pdws).

Steam discussions are used by a very small minority of players. Hell, I bet most steam users forget the forum even exists.

Most players won't even participate in any kind of community - they'll just download the game, try it out without even reading a single thread or update article, and maybe they'll play it with a friend or two, and that's it. Either way, the number of people that bother to join a discord server for a game that they aren't even immediately having issues with is absolutely fricking tiny - even right now over on the Steam Discussions there's plenty of threads talking about FACEIT and how it should never be implemented despite a dev saying on the Discord server that it supposedly isn't happening anyway.

The best way to deal with hackers is to actually pay people to deal with reports as they come in, develop tools that allow you to discern hackers from normal players or even laggy ones (for example, recording each game in a way that lets a moderator access the replays and check for obvious hackers for one - some other games already do something like this from memory), and implement shit like death cams and such to make it easier for players to identify them and submit reports. There isn't an anticheat around that will completely filter them out, and the more effective they are the more invasive and performance-hogging they become.
I don't care how bad hackers are on your game, I won't install that kind of shit on my PC on principle. Deal with it another way that doesn't infringe on the rights and privacy of your paying customers.

There is no incentive for the developers to do that, and there is no reason to think their motivation is to do so.
Example, GTA 5. Game is utterly infested with "modders", but R* doesn't give two shits. Why should they? If anything, it just means more money.
But that's the exact opposite of what I was saying in that post. If they really wanted to make sure cheaters aren't a problem, there are much more effective ways that don't involve the use of spyware that also doesn't even work on Linux for example (which means no Steam Deck support), but it also requires them to make a token effort at minimum.
The problem is that more effective methods are significantly more costly, and any tools you try to develop quickly become obsolete as cheat makers continue to develop workarounds. Unless you have infinite resources, trying to out develop cheaters is a losing battle.

Unfortunately, there really aren't any better options other than just leaving the door wide open. I don't like kernel level anti cheat myself, but I understand why it's used.

Again, that's very costly, and that's a constant cost that will never go away because cheats are always developing and evolving. You can't just develop something and then you're done with it when the cheaters are always actively trying to find new ways around it.

I also threw in some lines about how I, as a long time user of steam, is very disappointment that they would allow these kinds of things to be sold on their platform

Some maps are very bad, vehicles are terrible. 126 player mode is a clusterfrick, you can't break the enemy lines for the most part so the gameplay is reduced to camping and rpg/nade spam. Kinda like metro 64 but worse. If it's not conquest the game is unplayable with that amount of players.

Probably network performance related, buckshot shotguns have 12x the physics simulation cost per trigger pull, currently it's only possible for players to spawn 256 projectile physics objects simulateneously, a single shotgun uses ~5% of that budget on its own and a 50 player server with shotguns would have the same potential network overhead as a 256 player one without.

The M249 is pretty decent with attachments but actually unlocking them in the first place is an utter pain, and the general gameplay and map design really doesn't lend itself to things with slow movement and ADS time. They'd be better if there was wall penetration.

There's your problem. Most of the time it doesn't even deploy correctly, just use a grip.
One trick I use with the bipod is to set up down a medium distance long street or hallway from a window. Place a barrier the long way facing the window so you can lie down on it. Instead of the bipod not registering w the window you just prone on your barrier so you can aim down that way. Theres also places with walls/fences where you can use a sandbag to climb and then shoot over the wall and the bipod registers fairly well
Too long distance you get fricked by snipers or singleshot dudes
Too short you get flanked or naded

a typical fotm game loses players by now after hitting its peak two days in but battlebit is not the same as fall guys.
first off, it has had a lot of support over the years from a large dedicated fanbase and it has a lot of content that other fotm didnt ship with. of course the game wont keep 62k forever and will drop but it wont lose 90% from its peak like the actual fotm games.
I'm saying this isn't gonna cause a shift in any design philosophies even though it should.

The simple geometry helps the FPS. If this was battlefield we'd have tons of uneven terrain, bushes, rubble with rebar, dirt piles, janky bullshit you stub your toe on and cant move. Here you just move fast in a relatively clean environment

Earlier I assumed there must be some hard limit on claymores. But I summoned an ammo box and just kept spamming claymores, often hiding them behind barriers near doorways and stairs. I played an entire round on frontline tarrytown 90% of my time was being claymore man and went 40 and 10.
Im still not sure what the claymore limit is. I counted 10 of my claymores down at one point but I died before I could get more out or safely go and count how many others I got. Ive been using support too to have heavy ammo box but most of my squadmates never build a barrier or sandbag so we end up with thousands of squad points and I can just spam whatever
I'm more of a solo player FPS guy, so what does this game have to offer that some other game doens't? LIke why aren't you guys playing the same multiplayer FPS games? Like MW2 or CS or whatever? What's special about this?
As someone who has played and shit on this game in multiple threads, there's so many people that it wraps back around from being team based to being borderline solo play because shit gets so hectic that often nobody bothers to help. People are playing this because modern FPS suck ass, that's it, it's literally just better than the alternatives.
This is like the only online fps right now that isn't a BR, a milsim, or hot liquid shit.

The magazine mechanics are fine I think, being able to combine mags unlike most games that do this is pretty nice, but that bleeding shit is pure anti-fun and needs to fricking go.

quick connect is basically 127v127, 64v64 and 32v32. custom servers can go down to 16v16 and 8v8.

the balance and design decisions are all over the place, which is weird because you'd think they would've fixed this after the 75 playtests they did before launch.

They need to tie weapon unlocks to class levels rather than your overall character level.
They need to more heavily restrict the weapon selection to specific classes (only assault should get ARs, only sniper should get dmrs, only engineer should get carbines, only medic should get pdws).
Certain attachments and weapons are straight up worthless and should be buffed
