The game came out over a decade ago, it looked fine for the time for a top down game.
We aren't dealing with the leaps and bounds of graphics development we saw in the prior decades of gaming, true, but while not groundbreaking for 2012, it was respectable for the type of game it was when you look at similar games released that year, like Torchlight 2
it never looked fine, I thought it looked like console mobile trash on day 1. The blinking when you hit the enemies, the colors, the absolutely braindead linear tunnel level where you begin. It was infinitely shit
idk about 'started' the trend but the artstyle was definitely influenced by money the same way mobile games go for that poppy cartoony style. it's crazy how much better Diablo 4 looks, how much better environments are when they can actually be dark and creepy instead of looking like a child's comic book, how enemies can be bloody and menacing because they don't look like they work for Fegan Floop and the other Spy Kids bad guys.
I did when it came out. It's shit. "Streamlined" for console kiddies, always online, removed LAN, lack of the "dark and creepy" atmosphere, zero innovation compared to competitors and the list goes on. Never bothered with the DLC. This was the final game that convinced me Blizzard is dead.
>play braindead genre >complain about streamlining
Oh shut up. At least own that you like it because the atmosphere is godly and stop being a pretentious midwit.
>basically 2 but playable on a console
Are you living under a rock? Because that's exactly what Ressurection is. Proving it's not the totally deep mechanically complex switharooney you want to pretend it ever was.
Diablo 3 was a massive disappointment. The whole game was casualized for consoles. The skill system was awful, the campaign was boring, pvp and trading dont even really exist. The gear was too easy to obtain and hardly anything stood out.
Really fricking sad D4 has a similar "trade" system. Its all to avoid a black market and chat spamming but overhauls like MedianXL managed to get rid of that for D2 with just a few people behind them, meanwhile blizzard the trillion dollar company cant.
Trading was at least a third of what made D2s endgame fun.
Honestly i think D4 is an improvement on D3 but thats not saying too much.
The fact that people still regularly play Diablo 2 TWENTY THREE YEARS later is telling, meanwhile D3 was dead a couple years after release.
>shared loot >1000 hour farming for one shitty ass legendary >better
you're fricking braindead, i played Diablo 2 as a teenager and it's ok at best, online play is fricking ass all you do is follow a bot that kills baal for you
Diablo 3 is the way better game and Diablo 4 is just woke Diablo 3 but in dark, brown shit where you have to pay for seasons lol
loot >>1000 hour farming for one shitty ass legendary
The funny part is, these reasons are why the game is still alive after more than 20 years. The game lacks all complexity and difficulty that made the game iconic in the first place in order to appeal to casuals who just want everything handed to them. In a game where obtaining gear is a major part of its fun, having everything handed to you through an overwhelming amount of drops, unlimited respecs, rerolling gear etc just neuters the experience. No trading or real pvp just compounds on this.
Have fun getting to lvl 70 in 30 minutes and then running rift after rift after rift. At least when youre done you can...rift more.
I will. I've already completed everything basically, not counting mindless paragon farm so I can do 150 rift at some point.
Only missing 1 ancient item, all altars unlocked, journey completed, top 200 in class etc.
Gonna pick one day, play for a few hours and call it.
I was thinking of doing this season but I got so fricking burned out on the last one. I'll just end up doing innara monk again and steam rolling everything.
>grim dawn
Diablo 3 may look too bright but grim dawn looks like shit literally. Still not a bad game but I prefer diablo 3.
Are they even going to keep the seasons up now that D4 is out?
Why not? Most of the past seasons of d3 literally had no content and only the last one had something new.
I honestly have a small hope that they will stop ignoring d3 and do something since the game still has a pretty decent community.
>I honestly have a small hope that they will stop ignoring d3 and do something since the game still has a pretty decent community
why would you think that? they are only losing money on d3 from now on
at best diablo 3 will get reused seasons with its "themes" like double goblins or free selection of cube powers
My issue with grim dawn or any of the other arpgs for that matter is that none of them really nail the general "game feel" and just come across as stiff and weightless. Despite all the issues D3 has or D4 might have, killing shit in those games actually feels satisfying.
It's different, but I wouldn't say worse. I quite liked the decelerated gameplay and despite being considered weak as frick I had quite a bit of fun with my Druid for example. Throwing boulders at lined up enemies and watching them roll away never got old.
plenty of people who can't run d4, dont have money to buy it, don't like it or just switch users
takes only 1 employee to flip the switch for season start/end
I mean if he actually played the beta he'd know it looks great. But there's about a 99% chance his poorgay toaster can't even run it, let alone him being able to afford first world prices like 70 bucks.
Every single man over 25 years old makes 75k minimum. If you're 30+, you're probably in the 85k+ range. 70 bucks isn't even money; I spend more in one afternoon taking my girlfriend out on a walk.
>it looks great
It looks exactly like any other 3d arpg. It's like trying to find the difference in rts graphics, you only notice it when you zoom in, which doesn't happen during the actual gameplay.
>I honestly have a small hope that they will stop ignoring d3 and do something since the game still has a pretty decent community
why would you think that? they are only losing money on d3 from now on
at best diablo 3 will get reused seasons with its "themes" like double goblins or free selection of cube powers
>why would you think that?
I still want to believe that one dude working on diablo 3 will do something and won't get fired. It's not like d3 needs a big team. Especially considering that game is still pretty popular.
>I still want to believe that one dude working on diablo 3 will do something and won't get fired. It's not like d3 needs a big team. Especially considering that game is still pretty popular.

I'll never forgive Blizzard for completely neutering the D3 Necromancer that they fricking sold separately, I still haven't made it past level 50 with that boring travesty of a summoner
I played D3 vanilla for like 5OO hours. It sucks ass. It's the most basic ARPG imaginable. Gear has barely impact on your build, all you're looking for is main stat+vitality and crit chance to make BIG NUMBERS happen cuz that's how generic and shallow that frickin game is. I haven't given Blizzard another penny since the. Frick Jay Wilson and frick modern Blizzard.
I would rather play Diablo 2 or Path of Exile. They are better than D3 and D4 in pretty much every imaginable way. Better loot, crafting, bosses, build diversity. Sorry, Blizztards. Enjoy your Fisher Price ARPG.

I hate that Diablo has become "the end game". D2 was amazing because the limited respeccing and viable build variety encouraged you to play the campaign again. An arpg is not supposed to be about sitting at end game, there is no real way to make an arpg end game entertaining enough for it to be its main draw. Unfortunately sitting at end game is what D3 is.
Unlimited respeccing means playing one character gives you the ability to try every build that char has to offer so there is no point in making a second. Level up all the chars and now you have no reason to play the campaign ever again. Another issue with D3 is it is universally agreed that campaign was not good.
Locking stat points was a mistake as was locking gear out of certain chars. D2 gave you the ability to stat point the way you wanted and thus you were able to use a wand as a Barb or a two handed sword as a Sorc etc. This added massively to build variety.
Nerfing trading into non existence took away like 30% of the game. Hopping into a server with randoms and being able to trade at low levels just added more to the game and gave a sense of community, met a lot of people like that.
On top of all this, D2 was actually challenging. You die more times in act 1 of D2 than the entire campaign of D3. Dying was actually pretty punishing which added to the shit your pants excitement and desperation in times when you get in over your head. D2 enemies had a lot of different ways of frickign with you on top of their immunity, and it was just naturally there. For a challenge in D3 you simply have to go to a high enough torment level to where the monsters have gorillions of health, feels very artificial.
If you run into a boss that is immune to your damage in D2, you need to come up with a different approach. In D3? Just respec and boom. I could go on and on. I played D2 for so long and have had 10 years to be mad about D3.
I dont think D3 is a shit game, its a shit diablo game
>An arpg is not supposed to be about sitting at end game, there is no real way to make an arpg end game entertaining enough for it to be its main draw.
PoE is all about endgame and is literally the best game on its genre, so cope moron

Gee wiz, thats up there with battlefield 2042!
Your post proved my point, arpg end game sucks, saying its the best part of PoE is really damning. Youre only bringing up PoE because you have no arguement for why d3 sucks.
And youre telling ME to cope.

>18,507 24-hour peak
>best in the genre
Gee wiz, thats up there with battlefield 2042!
Your post proved my point, arpg end game sucks, saying its the best part of PoE is really damning. Youre only bringing up PoE because you have no arguement for why d3 sucks.
And youre telling ME to cope.
LOL
are these your posts as well? nice "arguements"
>are these your posts as well? nice "arguements"
Thanks. Post more so I can reverse it and make it correct.
I implore you to go to the other diablo thread and try. Your adhd zoomer version of diablo is getting absolutely blown the frick out. Should keep your smooth brain busy reversing all those posts.
>getting btfo here
>d-dude why isn't this my safespace anymore wtf........sisters how could this happpen........
I hate that Diablo has become "the end game". D1 was amazing because the limited respeccing and viable build variety encouraged you to play the campaign again. An arpg is not supposed to be about sitting at end game, there is no real way to make an arpg end game entertaining enough for it to be its main draw. Unfortunately sitting at end game is what D2 is.

Installed it today. Uninstalled it like an hour later.
D3 will never not be terrible.
