Nice. This will actually be my first ever time playing it. I cucked myself out of the extra campaigns by buying the wrong version so I only have Prophecies GOTY edition, but hopefully I can grab the rest on sale in the future if it really grips me.
Based on my experience, there are 2 main types of people who play RDM. The first type are people who don't pay attention to tool tips or really want to try hard at the game. So they play RDM because it's generally an easy class and they can res sprouts to feel important.
The second type are raiders who probably picked RDM to pick up static members for prog purposes. But then became RDM austists who consistently stay in melee range when possible to get off auto attacks and be in a prime position for their Enchanted Riposte combo.
Very rarely will you find someone who is generally decent at the game and playing RDM without fishing for commies or chasing top DPS.
rdm autos do the same damage as a whm cane whack which is to say virtually nothing. the only caster autos that deal any damage at all are smn/sch book smacks which can deal around 300 damage

But speaking of caster autoattacks, why exactly did the devs feel the need to nerf BLM autos to be exactly 1 damage every time in ShB when they were pitifully weak (sub-triple digits) before that anyway?

It's mostly because the job lives or dies by its procs. Unlike black mage, which requires a brain, red mage is a lot like dancer. You're just hoping you get good procs.
Don't know how cheesy that particular fork of XIVCombo is but that's it usually works. Cuts down on a lot of button bloat for jobs that never require you to hit 123 out of sequence or for things that don't really need two separate slots like SMN's Energy Drain+Fester or Dreadwyrm Trance+Firebird Trance (as even if you want Bahamut the plug-in will just make his trance overwrite Firebird when the cooldown's over anyway).
Doesn't this turn your 1,2,3 rotation into a single button? Am I right or? If that's what it does I can understand people using it for Sam or Ninja.
This is incredibly damaging if you intend on doing anything more than a roulette, you'd be hard pressed to actually find people who play the game above that level using it, hell I've never actually seen or heard of anyone using it. The issue is that if you condense your 123 combo into one button it makes it a LOT harder to know where you are in your combo, this is very important for being able to manage your gauge and timers as well as weaving.
Because counting and keeping track of how many times you pressed the singular button plus watching the animations is so hard, amirite?

There is another Dalamud mod that literally plays your entire job for you. You don't even have to push a button. It's free, too, of course. The combo mods are like kiddie toys compared to it.

Why would anyone play the dullest Final Fantasy game ever made? Seriously each expansion following the Warrior of Light and his pals from Sharlayan as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the PS2 imagery, the games only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of particle effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Square Enix vetoed the idea of Tanaka directing the game; they made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for their earlier games. It took me a week of leading PF groups before I finally got a zeromus ex clear (and my rod on my first try lol) and I don't know if I want to do that again for golbez. Is his fight fun? I remember liking the normal version, but I also liked normal zeromus and zeromus extreme stopped being fun when 23 different parties kept wiping on meteors.
Golbez has that super strict body check where you might not even be able to tell who fricked up before the screen fades.
Don't know if I'd call it mechanically harder, but it only takes one slacker to make it essentially impossible to clear.

Activate bunshin and throw shurikens to harass from afar, if you want to do a lot of damage from afar then do kassatsu then shuriken for the big ice shuriken. Kassatsu then melee is 2 sets of stun and gap closing, so do it to someone to stun for a second, pause for a moment, then use the 2nd one.
If you ever want to get away, Shukichi (your teleport) breaks enemy targeting on you so you can do that. Also Kassatsu then bunshin will use Huton, and that gives you a 16,000 HP shield and 25% movement speed buff. So if you use that, sprint (they stack), and shukichi to teleport/break targeting, you can run away from a load of stuff.
Then when you have LB you just click and use it on enemies for instakills if they're at half HP or lower. Cleans up gang fights over and over, especially if you stun them with forked raiton while you have buddies hitting them.
So you can drift your manafication due to overcappimg and still have it line up next 2min >have more that 50 mana at 2min >press embolden then do 123 >then press manafication and do full combo

Almost forgot, just make sure you have enough mana for 1 combo in the burst window at minimum, that's the only requirement of this rotation
I've burned out. Steam says over 2000 hours, I finished StB 4.0 and leveled practically all jobs to 70 and maxed ARR and HW tribes. I have 150 mil gil in my bank but there's nothing worth buying. MSQ is just dumb busywork. I think the most fun part of this game is the dungeons which everyone else despises and wants to get over with as soon as they can. Don't know how cheesy that particular fork of XIVCombo is but that's it usually works. Cuts down on a lot of button bloat for jobs that never require you to hit 123 out of sequence or for things that don't really need two separate slots like SMN's Energy Drain+Fester or Dreadwyrm Trance+Firebird Trance (as even if you want Bahamut the plug-in will just make his trance overwrite Firebird when the cooldown's over anyway).
This is incredibly damaging if you intend on doing anything more than a roulette, you'd be hard pressed to actually find people who play the game above that level using it, hell I've never actually seen or heard of anyone using it. The issue is that if you condense your 123 combo into one button it makes it a LOT harder to know where you are in your combo, this is very important for being able to manage your gauge and timers as well as weaving.
Because counting and keeping track of how many times you pressed the singular button plus watching the animations is so hard, amirite?
Yes, because now you actually have to look at what animation it is instead of simply knowing what button you pressed, which begs the question why would you use something that stupid to begin with.

I think the only misleading case would be SMN, Bahamut has extra threat generation so it can skew it a tiny bit.
There is another Dalamud mod that literally plays your entire job for you. You don't even have to push a button. It's free, too, of course. The combo mods are like kiddie toys compared to it.

Why would anyone play the dullest Final Fantasy game ever made? Seriously each expansion following the Warrior of Light and his pals from Sharlayan as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the PS2 imagery, the games only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of particle effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Square Enix vetoed the idea of Tanaka directing the game; they made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for their earlier games. Final Fantasy XIV might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Dragon Quest in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

It's still alive and kicking, sadly. Stopped playing myself in Oct 2021 thanks mostly due to the devs doubling down on the fricking worst balance and class design choices, like making healers spam one button for dps unironically. The community is also a big part of why I left, it's awful.

Ultimates yes, Extremes and Savages no midwits can do them. But Ultimates put in a normal prog group will take around 4-6months to complete.

Is Golbez extreme a lot harder than Zeromus and Rubicante extreme? It took me a week of leading PF groups before I finally got a zeromus ex clear (and my rod on my first try lol) and I don't know if I want to do that again for golbez. Is his fight fun? I remember liking the normal version, but I also liked normal zeromus and zeromus extreme stopped being fun when 23 different parties kept wiping on meteors.

Depends completely if there's the benchmark or not. EW released the benchmark uncharacteristically early, like shortly after the online FF. Otherwise they've all been around the sa.e time as job actions and media tour.

Probably not until the media tour. The lead in to Endwalker was a bit different than normal because of covid, we didn't get the normal fanfests and all that, so you'd have to look at Stormblood and Shadowbringers to get an idea of when that kind of stuff would be released.

be annoying and then kill people if their hp drops below 50% for a nanosecond
Activate bunshin and throw shurikens to harass from afar, if you want to do a lot of damage from afar then do kassatsu then shuriken for the big ice shuriken. Kassatsu then melee is 2 sets of stun and gap closing, so do it to someone to stun for a second, pause for a moment, then use the 2nd one.
If you ever want to get away, Shukichi (your teleport) breaks enemy targeting on you so you can do that. Also Kassatsu then bunshin will use Huton, and that gives you a 16,000 HP shield and 25% movement speed buff. So if you use that, sprint (they stack), and shukichi to teleport/break targeting, you can run away from a load of stuff.
Then when you have LB you just click and use it on enemies for instakills if they're at half HP or lower. Cleans up gang fights over and over, especially if you stun them with forked raiton while you have buddies hitting them.

Brainlet here, why do Manafication and Embolden not have the same CD?
So you can drift your manafication due to overcappimg and still have it line up next 2min

What you actually do is use Manafication on CD as long as you won't overcap so you can get extra Black/White Mana throughout the course of a fight....you get an extra use or mana early which results in a bonus combo or 3 or whatever
Almost forgot, just make sure you have enough mana for 1 combo in the burst window at minimum, that's the only requirement of this rotation
I've burned out. Steam says over 2000 hours, I finished StB 4.0 and leveled practically all jobs to 70 and maxed ARR and HW tribes. I have 150 mil gil in my bank but there's nothing worth buying.
