I wish lizard pets were more actually fun and less of a useless gimmick >99% can't follow you >Go get the 1% that can, the propeller lizards >Immedately propels itself off the edge of the map into the void and dies, doesn't come back like when they're enemies
Scavenger (the rat in the op image and that webm) killed so many Scavengers (monkeys) that she's kill on sight.
All those scavengers are heading down to murder her in the save room.
They explode because her core gimmick is that she can fart explosions or drool on weapons to make them explosive.

when compared relative to body size rather than in absolute terms, humans are the primate with the largest wiener
it follows, that for an iterator to have a big wiener, it must be large relative to their own bodysize
which begs the question: how big is an iterator, really?
is it just the puppet? moon with just a scant five neurons, is already a fully fledged person, as far as we're aware. yet 5P, once robbed of his tin can, is little more than a broken shadow of the man he used to be.
there is an argument to be had that an iterator encompasses not just the puppet, but their entire can, and thus must have a wiener with a size to match: at least a handful screens big
but, is it just the can? we know 5P and moon's influence reaches all the way to the retaining wall, much like your own head's influence reaches all the way to your toes. we also know that everything within the retaining wall was repurposed to serve and provide for the local iterator in one way or another, much like all your organs are made to serve the brain, directly or indirectly. leaving aside moon and 5P's special circumstances as sort of conjoined twins, it can no doubt be said that an iterator is in fact the size of all rain world regions put together (save outer expanse, of course).
therefore, an iterator's wiener must be at least the size of a small region
the logistics behind fricking something as small as a slugcat with something as large as big iterator wiener are left as an exercise for the reader
On its own it's honestly okay. All the new features (like co-op and expeditions) are fine as post-game features, but what I really disliked were the campaigns added in from the More Slugcats mod.
They consist of going to iterators A 'n B, through mostly unchanged original regions, and then exploring an overly dense (this is not a good thing, by the way) new region or two. Aside from the Gourmand who's the only one to even begin approaching the original experience, the rest is fan fiction full of fan service centered exclusively around the iterators.
I would've been much happier if we got a new set of regions to explore or more effort put in differentiating regions for each character. Instead, we got 'art' in the form of huge frick-off regions that are about 4 times the size of the vanilla regions, if not more.
I also dislike the Saint's campaign for its rather bleak implications for the setting.
Downpour lore is a trainwreck in general, there are a lot of additions which are not good for the setting and ruin the original feel of the game, especially the part where iterators talk like highscoolers on anonymous 4chinks and entrusting their lives to literal animals. Saind is way too vague to discuss, at this point you can interpret it as literally anything, while original engind had clear story implications and served as a good finisher to the message of the game.
Characters are not believable. Their abilities are not believable. Their origins are unclear and unbelievable. Dev note points out that some of the most outrageous examples like gourmand are actually not real and literally just made up. This is an extremely shit move which points me to doubt if anything in downpour has actually happened canonically in relation to itself.
A lot of areas exist only to provide gameplay to specific campaigns which was not the intention of original developers. They are huge and overbloated with detail, but ones which actually follow basic visual design principles are pretty good looking.
New creatures are bad. Adding lizards which can pounce half of a screen to survivor campaign are uhh, not fun. Yeeks were literally underdeveloped on release and behaviour of most others is also very primitive.
Alternative endings for vanilla characters absolutely frick over the message and feeling of the game by adding a disney-esque "they lived happily ever after" ending, which is just fanservice.
Oh yeah. Fanservice. The dating sim.
I can continue.
Devs have nothing to do with the DLC, they only allowed the new publisher to do whatever they've done. Not a good move but i am willing to forgive them since base game is that great.
I mean, that still makes the problem be that the real devs did no work, it's just that they didn't get the option to due to questionable contract decisions.
The original game is written really well in a minimalistic way, I don't think anyone expected a mod to be able to match it. It's one of the few indie games where I experience no cringe from reading it.
No, it was a mod, and they didn't hire anybody. I wonder how finances are distributed now, considering that there were like 30 contributors.

Expanded on and polished by other mod developers.
The only input the original developers had was James (the music guy) mastering soundtrack to fit with original style. He did a good ass job, considering that many tracks deviate quite a lot.

Better that than nothing, i guess. If we wouldn't have been so lucky, ip rights to rw would've been still dusting in basement of adult swim.

How egregious is the dating sim? I know these devs are mentally ill twitter leftists, and I dread it when they are given any opportunity to write actual dialog in the game.
The backstories for the new tunnel ferrets seem really Donut Steel OCesque, for one. I liked Survivor's relatively vague and generic "just one of the many members of the species who got separated from his pack". But maybe that's because I only played the survivor for now and don't know anything about the monk and the hunter.
>just one of the many members of the species who got separated from his pack
This was the whole fricking point of the game. Originally survivor was the only one. Still the best. The measuring stick that all other slugcats are judged by.

Hi anon,
It appears you have been misled.
Perhaps whomever spoiled the story for you was mistaken
Hunter does not get turned into some blob monster in downpour.
This only transpires if you, the player, have a failed hunter run, then play another specific slugcat Gourmandafter your unfortunate Hunter run, on the same save slot. Please note, the Hunter-Long-Legs only spawns if your Hunter run ends by finishing on Cycle 0 - not if you die from starvation. It will be in the room that your Hunter run ended.

I hate the consequences of dating sim on this community. If acting getting sexually aroused by characters was restricted to small group of furgay weirdos, it is a norm now to argue about genders and other normie shit
People were horny for slugcats long before a dating sim told them to be.
>People were horny for slugcats long before a dating sim told them to be.
People are horny for everything, think of anything and there's certainly a moron on the internets who is sexually aroused by that. I meant that dating sim accelerated this quite a bit and given more confidence to furgays along the lines of "if even developers do that, why can't i say that publicly as well?"
>Rain World is one of the best recent games I played >Game notable chunk of "fans" are trannies and Tumblr/DeviantArt OC-donutsteel makers. >Even the reeeditt has trans and gay icons and the sub banner, just because.
Frick this shit.
Sadly, yes. Doesn't have to be like this though, but there's absolutely no hope of a general surviving because general audience isn't here and it will be eventually overwhelmed by coomposters.
Honestly I'm fine with the alt ending for the slugcats, the Buddhist shit FP tells you honestly comes right the frick out of nowhere and even then the 'rescue slugpups' ending doesn't ever include finding your original family (which should at least have had some sort of closure whether good or bad). It's hardly as offensive as that moronic silly dating sim shit you get with the nightcat, which is non-canon anyways.
Any mods you guys would recommend? I'm trying out pearlcat while exploring some custom regions. Recently found my way to the Badlands and it is pretty neat so far
I just wait for the wanderer to re-release. Hopefully gonna be good, but outside of custom regions there isn't much to go for.
I reccomend most of the pre-DP region ports (and reworks) like Mast, Scorched District and Coral Caves. Some of the newer regions are cool too, like Stormy Coast and Far Shore.
If you mean the missions - they weren't so bad. Spearmaster and saint ones are easily the worst, but managable. Grinding expedition levels is just a giant grindfest.

Base game is already 15 or 20. Never pay more than 20 bucks for a videogame.
i see what you're saying, but downpour is basically "rainworld 2" - the amount of new content, areas, slugcats, one of them is in a different timeline with an entirely different world basically (Saint) so it's pretty much like buying two separate games. it goes on sale often enough and again you can just go to the usual places to get it for free if you really give a shit. it's definitely a unique game and worth at least one playthrough, i wont try to shill it on you, i dont cvare if you buy it, but if you dont play it you're just denying yourself. since you referenced monkey island i will say that you probably deserve good games, so, i'd say you owe it to yourself to play this game. it's really good.

hunter/monk are not as donut steel as the garfield fat fetish one or edgy mcedgeface "i am woman hear me roar" in the OP.
they feel somewhat believable in the world.

Someone said earlier that most of the other tunnel ferrets just travel through the same vanilla world and talk to the two anime robots, and then maybe visit one new poorly designed region. I just... the vanilla Rainworld was just barely worth the money I spent on it, and this amateur fanfiction version of it really fills me with doubt. I guess I'll pirate it to make up my mind on the quality first.
Other guy is fanboying hard. You don't like the game, you're not going to like the game again: more bloat edition. In no way is the expansion like an entirely different game. You mostly visit the same areas while dealing with gimmicks like aggro'ing and having to rng seach scav corpses to open doors, the fat one running out of stamina in like 3 fricking seconds, water literally everywhere, etc.
If you don't like the vanilla game (which is by far the most well designed campaign) you're not going to like these ones.

I liked the vanilla game more or less, otherwise I wouldn't have said that it was barely worth something. But regardless I do appreciate your input.
I'll take a look at that mod, 'preciate it. Rainworld is too unfair for me to leave it to chance whether I will make it in time as Hunter and waste dozens of manhours on a failed playthrough.
Have they added Hunter's and Monk's endings to the steam release yet now that they got a new publijew?

Downpour's Remix option enables the player to select how many cycles Hunter starts with, as well as how many extra cycles Five Pebbles gives them.
I only ever played through the game at launch, but seeing all those new modded areas makes me want to see if I can install every single one of them at the same time.
you can play the downpour areas first if you want
if you want to try modded zones
i strongly recommend Aether Ridge, Hanging Gardens, and The Mast.
There's a lot of other good ones too, like Badlands, Moonlit Acres, etc...
A heads up. While 1.5 can handle it. Downpour/1.9 has a merging system to avoid conflicts but it wasnt really finished so you'll want some bethesda-game style bug-fixing mods (merge fix, remix menu tweaks with disable merging in options, guardian) or the game is going to crash a lot while modding. Hopefully the mythical update in works fixes this.
Yeah, I saw the thing about having multiple versions installed if you want to do different mod stuff. I've waited this long, I can look into that update's progress and wait a bit longer.

None of the new characters have a permanent cycle limit and you can also adjust the hunter cycles in the remix menu if you wanna play for hundreds of cycles instead
why is she called looks to moon?
why is it called Four Needles under Plentiful Leaves? “You have no name. I once had! I was embalmed, adorned, readied for the journey. So proud! There was jubilation. My name was sung, loud and clear. Did they know? That I didn’t quite leave, didn’t quite stay? Should I be ashamed? That I linger here, where my memories are kept? Should I be ashamed that I now envy your flesh prison?”
There is a pearl in Farm Arrays that refer to "five urges which tie a creature to life"
As you should know, iterators such as Pebbles cannot ascend, and the ancients could not properly ascend without ridding themselves of the five urges.
It is possible that the number five represents Pebbles inability to ascend.
Moon's city is called Luna so that maybe. No idea for the others

I didn't really read any lore analysis or anything, so all I know is that I played a white ferret that got dragged into a black pit of nothingness by a giant tapeworm where a tree with other ferrets awaited him. Someone told me it means that he actually killed himself, but I don't know how the end is supposed to convey that.
He has freed his spirit from the mortal realm, he has left the eternal cycle, he has moved beyond, with the rest of his family that he was searching for, and is reunited with them in the next world.
The body dies, but the spirit carries on.

That yellow shit underground is void fluid, which dissolves organic matter in a way that forces the soul to break free of the cycle of rebirth. Basically alien Buddhism, except the people of the world found a cheat code to skip the multiple reincarnations spent getting there. The visions you see are interpretations of your slugcat transcending existence. You could functionally say that the game can't be beaten, only ended, since the implied goal of "find slugcats you got separated from" can never be attained. Gets kinda weird and philosophical in that your only way to win is to accidentally fail your quest by achieving enlightenment.
>but I don't know how the end is supposed to convey that.
it isn't
you're supposed to learn what's going on by bringing funny colored pearls to the blue robot, instead of handing them out to the monkeys like it's candy

Gourmand is implied to be making his adventures up entirely, but needle mouse was literally tailor made to be special, as was the water one.
They're in-universe donut steeles, specifically copying the success of the first guy to do this with a catrat

Artificer (farting is fun, easy explosives is fun, fighting is fun, biting is fun) > Regular (best campaign, no moronic gimmicks) / yellow (its just regular but i peed on him for being gay) > Hunter (good stats fairly vanilla campaign isn't as good) > Riv (fun movement) > Saint (fun movement, some really shit campaign areas) > Spear (its gimmick isn't actively unfun) > fat (fat, tires in two seconds, tires in 1 throw, really fat, what a fat frick, fricking fat piece of shit) > ??? (literal joke)
>Cheat my way through challenge 70 >End up needing a good handful of tries anyway
I've gotten through every campaign except ???, still need to figure out that riddle
I've collected every unlock, broadcast and pearl, even metropolis' as expedition survivor. I'm on the verge of finishing expedition mode, just gotta finish this one final expedition
And yet it's all invalidated by challenge 70. It haunts me man.
I'll manage to do it legit someday
It's complete ass. I've spent like 8 hours grinding it, it was actually much harder than any of the campaigns or challenge missions.
Don't give up, anon, it's not your fault.
i dont get how people dislike gourmand. must be techlets who cant slide, roll, etc. correctly.
gourmand can be surprisingly mobile. and rolling into enemies can literally oneshot or atleast stun most. you can drop on heads to kill. you can roll FOREVER. your slides are stupid fast and long.
if youre relying on spear throws constantly and just walking instead of making use of all the movement tech, its a skill issue.
>rolling into enemies can literally oneshot
Wow it's almost as if the game isn't supposed to be a piss easy slopfest where you run around killing everything instantly
This is why metroid 1 is better than super metroid which is better than symphony of the night, by the way.
you need to roll for about 3 to 4 rolls which requires a high enough height to drop from and enough distance to gain that many rolls. it will stun most lizards, only kill the weaker ones.
its not nearly as often as you make it seem. im just saying that noobs who shit on the fat frick are obviously skill-lets.
He really is the best downpour slugcat. >survivor
dull for mods but the vanilla 1.1-1.5 experience is immaculate and incomparable (honestly going back before 1.5 is kinda eh, stuff like dropwigs really add to the experience and its just less jank) >hunter
peak gameplay. Time limit and the difficulty increase perfectly offset eachother and add replayability in spades. >gourmand
perfectly balanced offsets (could maybe have a higher food requirement) best burst damage but sustained hits make drawn out fights risky, amazing bursts of speed but being forced to jump and run is risky. Crafting is kinda unneeded but being able to shit out bubbleweed is great for modded regions or submerged superstructure runs. >Rivulet
refreshing but blatantly overpowered with no downsides, time limit disappears during story and rain isn't a problem when you can run/swim through it so the time limit is actually a good minute or so longer than it actually is. >arti
Unironically needs more scavs, its a blast (heh) to just war against them in metropolis and in tolls but outside of there you're just a walking nuke. >spearmaster
oddly balanced just by having no stomach and dual wielding is something hunter could already do with whiplash pickup so the real benefits is just being lighter and being able to eat on the move. Maybe could have used one more upside and one more downside. >saint
snow pallets and the new music is pure kino but you rarely need to actually sneak/evade past stuff. More just blitz through it, husk having to weave in and out of places to heat back up was great. >monk
poor lad
Gourmand is not hard, he's just annoying. Even speedrunners fricking hate gourmand because there's no clear indication of loosing stamina before fainting and due to physical nature of the movement you can never predict how much you have left.
what's the name of the youtuber who has tons and tons of autistic high skill footage of rain world? I can't find him by searching.
There are a few, and a tech wiki in the works which has footage of every single found tech.
Gourmand would be fun if he wouldn't have to catch his breath after walking up a slight slope.
Keep the exhaustion for throwing spears and doing heavy moves and keep him slower than other slugcats without having normal exhaustion and he would be perfectly fine
I honestly like it how it is because it makes him specifically weaker when it comes to running away or manoeuvring around a fight. But still lets him slide, roll and pounce without much difficulty in empty areas.
Plus not a lot of people know this but If you lie down you recover stamina faster.

This.
He's the opposite of hard. He has easy stuns and 1 shots. But unlike Arty who's downside is engaging with the world more which is fun, Gormand's downside is having ot just not play the game every time you do certain actions or play a shit character
they don't really like light in smaller numbers but they do like light rats (to eat)
fairly sure they can tell the difference
worst comes to worst the rat makes for a good decoy
the way the spiders work is that if there's no light, they swarm you immediately and kill you
if you project light, they run away and start to form into the shape of a centipede. Once there's enough spiders to make a full size chain, they get aggressive again and stop fearing light.
So the danger depends on how many spiders are in the room.
Same basic appeal as Harry Potter (guaranteed acces to a position in a clearly defined aspect of society (the edgy clan, the noble clan, the clan that got its ass kicked, etc)), but also cats are cute.
Its more of an appeal to losers than women specifically. A lot of those animations are made by the same very fall number of people.
There are near countless meanings and interpretations about the moon out there, but one of the most prominent ones is feminine energy. As most of you know, Moon is supposed to be female, despite being a machine. She calls herself "Big Sister Moon" for this reason and because of the fact she is older than most of, if not all, the Iterators.
Another connection to the moon that she has is water, or more specifically the ocean. Moon is found in the Shoreline Region, a place almost completely covered in water and is essentially the ocean of Rain World. In real life, our moon controls the tide cycle in the ocean, its gravity lightly pulling on the water to create the tides. Moon's chamber is also flooded out at the end of every cycle because of the rain. Her connection with water, even if she can't control it, is definitely something that I can't ignore.
Also something worth noting: The Moon is interpreted by some cultures as a god, and it can also be interpreted as a metaphor for a relationship with God. Iterators like Moon are, in the words of Five Pebbles, "...godlike in comparison" to the Slugcat and all other creatures in Rain World. As with everything in the guide, this could have been purposeful, or it could simply be a coincidence.
Now into the "Looks To" part of Looks To The Moon. As a lot of you know, Five Pebbles stole much of Moon's water and life source in attempt to save himself from his fatal experiment. Because of his actions, Moon broke down and fell to earth. Once standing above the clouds, she is now forced to look up at where she once was, sitting in the ruins of her broken can, powerless.
how do I beat Hunter within the cycle limit? I can't go sky islands because you need both hands free to use squidcadas and I have to hold both the neuron and special pearl, so the stomach slot is taken. Also when I look online there's nothing about hunter starting with a pearl, so was that something added in downpour?
Hunter is fun moment-to-moment, but the cycle limit makes me to stressed to continue, since I don't know if I'm locking myself out of a win with every choice I make. So far I visited the echo in sky islands, now realizing I will have to backtrack through farm arrays and pass through two scavenger tolls just to get to outskirts with my already limited inventory...
hunter always started with a pearl, that's not an addition
pretty sure you're supposed to go moon first, then pebs, but i've never done it myself, comfy infinite cycles predator mode is my jam instead
Hunter is all about routing, just play it out and see where you struggle and how much you're willing to do. If you die, route around it.
Struggle platforming in sky islands? You can go through farm arrays and up through chimney. (you dont need cicadas btw there's multiple routes and all of them can be done with regular platforming albiet barely)
I like to grab a mask in farm arrays on the first cycle from some poor vulture and then breeze up the wall but hunter is literally about working around your goals and abilities.
I honestly don't know how tight the timing is, like I feel like one bad death before a crucial karma gate would be run-ending for example. I just did a monk playthrough (visiting 5p and bringing a neuron to moon) and even using 2 passages I took 38 cycles. Is there really time in a run to experiment and re-route? Or do you mean in successive tries?
At this point I've failed enough loooong expedition mode runs that I shouldn't be so averse to losing progress lol.
You shouldn't feel bad about retrying. Hunter is basically an arcade mode, it even scores you. The thing about karma gates locking you out means some areas are safe to die a lot in and some aren't because the gates will frick you. So knowing the karma levels of each direction helps a lot. So does knowing how easy it is to get to an echo.
Usually getting to industrial/chimney sets your run in stone because of the echo on the wall and pebbles being able to save a thrown run. And being in the centre of the map gives you the most pathing options.
I beat hunter on my second try, I killed like 5 things total and I was only able to do it because I very specifically worked out how many times I could die in each area and planned around it. I knew places I could cheese vultures for masks because I suffered in chimney and farm arrays on the first playthrough to gain some insight. And that meant going up the wall wasn't an impossible challenge. Find your limitations, work around them, youll be fine.
if I understand correctly, the reason for the wall echo being a game changer is that you don't have to visit it beforehand and can be at any karma, unlike very other echo, right?
However I don't see how you can get from chimney to the wall without a squidcada jump, and even the reverse direction is pushing it with the way that gap is angled.
You mean across the gap in the bridge at the top of chimney? Shuffle your scug until his arms change position and hang slightly off, then pounce. It's kinda like the one toe on a platform thing when playing megaman. You can do this out of tunnels too. You can also Throw rocks while jumping to go further.
The thing is you can't go in with one fixed path in mind and might have to detour through a worse route if you fail to keep your Karma.
As example, failing to have enough Karma for Shaded Citadel still leaves you Garbage Wastes as a path to Shoreline.
Hunter is all about routing, just play it out and see where you struggle and how much you're willing to do. If you die, route around it.

I did my Monk and Hunter runs simultaneously. The former to plan a route, and the latter to actually execute it
Savescum, and don't do stupid shit like go to sky islands.
Why waste your fricking time.
Yes, hunter always started with a pearl. Bring it to pebbles you moron.
my first hunter run i didnt even help moon :/
anyway.
my 2nd run went much better. farm arrays > sky islands > chimney canopy > wall > pebbles > wall > chimney canopy > industrial complex > shaded citadel > shoreline > subterranean
. Yes, there’s a gate to subterranean directly from shoreline. The way to the subterranean is in the left of the sewer section of shoreline.
Pic related was my path >Farm Arrays to Chimney Canopy gate shelter. if pressed for time, sleep at one of the Sky Islands shelters along the way (green line) >Chimney Canopy (or Sky Islands) to Exterior, sleep at the bottom (cyan line) >Go back for the Chimney Canopy Echo (blue line) >Speedrun through Sky Islands for the Echo (blue line)
You can get through the gap in Sky Islands I marked in the map with shrooms and a spear throw-boost. You can also toss the pearl across the gap first and grab a rock to extend your boost, if you're lucky enough to get a rock in that tiny platform.
Took me a dozen restarts or so to get the first two steps done without a single death, but my reasoning was that once made it to the wall, I'd be home free: Just a quick jaunt to the Chimney Canopy echo, and then as many tries climbing up the wall and getting to that first 5P shelter in a single cycle as I may need, knowing I could visit the Echo at the top afterwards to max out my karma again.
You don't actually need to go for the Sky Islands Echo, but it does help a bit.
At first my plan was Chimney Canopy, Exterior, Shaded Citadel, Farm Arrays and Subterranean; but after I got the Chimney Canopy Echo I woke up to a long cycle, and knowing how it wouldn't really matter if I failed and lost karma, I just went for it, figuring if I was successful I could skip past either the Farm Arrays or Shaded Citadel Echo later.
It was only once I got to the Exterior Echo that I realized I miscalculated how many echoes you needed: Just 4, so if I got the Shaded Citadel Echo I could just go straight from Shoreline to Subterranean instead of having to make my way back to Farm Arrays
Not that any of that matters anyway: I severely underestimated how many cycles you get, I think I had like 12 or so still left when I ascended, and that was after I lost all of my karma on my way down the leg, and a bit over half of it to dumb shit in Shoreline; so don't sweat it and take your time.
You can make it through Sky Islands without a Squidcada. There are some thight jumps, but throw boosting can help you with that, especially with how Hunter can carry two spears.
This is my route through Sky Islands
in addition to that, you can do sky islands, just use starve mode for infinite retries. You lose additional cycle on a success but there's still more than enough cycles to make it.
>it makes her super horny i would recommend
explain? > game of the century
this is true btw

First time learning about hard vore?
Nothing stopping the "swallow me whole" voregays from twisting things around a bit first chance they get, anyway. You're just playing dumb in hopes someone posts vore, aren't you?

yes, that's the first time i hear of "hard vore" and since i haven't learned it about before it should be evident that i am absolutely not interested in the topic
For any Rain World lore master anons here:
I challenge you to answers these questions.
>only Slugcats get these crazy mutations
Is it known how much time passed between each campaign in Downpour? I don't think the mutations of Rivulet and Saint are that unbelievable. I think there are also more "water lizards" in the time of Rivulet's campaign and the lizards in Saints time have a thicker hide.
If the slugcats are sent out by iterators, they were most likely genetically engineered to have certain traits like Spearmaster having the ability to receive transmission signals
transworld is a shit game and the only good thing about it is that it has dynamic animations and the animals have dynamic behaviors
because the animation is the only good thing the game is liked purely by autistic furries who want to frick the little creatures and find the death animations erotic
remove the animations and there is nothing there, a shallow boring platformer with bottom of the barrel terrible map design
Like all games that prioritize animations before gameplay it starts very clunky. Regular games just have the character snap into place and move where you point them, while nugames have windups and the character turns before moving, stuff like that. It's clunky but when you get used to it, it's no different from playing a regular game and you stop noticing it.
The map design is bad because it's rooms that are not connected. Fricking mario had long sidescrolling levels while transworld has these small boxes and you can go into a box and immediately have an alligator in your face.
Because it's some low effort indie shit it tries to do whole fake made up genre of ''metroidvania'' so all these unconnected boxes lead to dead ends where you can't progress because you need to go to a different dead end to do something, activate something or find some item. This kind of stuff is fine if a game is good, but when a game is a chore to play like transworld, I don't give enough of a shit to memorize which small box leads to which small box.
And then the game tries to pretend like it's Stalker with the rain events, so when you are going someplace and playing this chore of a game the game stops you and goes ''heh kiddo, you have to go find a hole to hide in because it's raining :)''
Sounds like you simply don't want to adapt.
There's a reason why I don't play metroidvanias or souls likes anymore, it's because they're all the same, they all play and feel the same, they all hold the game design of the games they're inspired by like it's some golden rule that can't be broken.
But you know which games broke these golden rules of game design to impose their own ideas? Dark Souls, Super Metroid, Castlevania SOTN
So to me, the idea that a game is bad because it doesn't play like some other game is absolutely insane. It's not accident that Rain World goes for all things you described and is considered the best game ever for these specific reasons by some people: because it's completely intentional, it's not some failure of game design.
>Rain World is one of the best recent games I played >Game notable chunk of "fans" are trannies and Tumblr/DeviantArt OC-donutsteel makers. >Even the reeeditt has trans and gay icons and the sub banner, just because.
Frick this shit.
if anything rainworld is an anti-trans story lmao.
the whole pebbles situation and how he ends up hurting one of his closest friends after attempting to alter self because he was not satisfied with his form and then eventually fails to handle the aftermath and lives his last days in pure suffering.
He was just trying to rewrite his code thoughever, the only way to do that with his components being biological just happened to risk producing hentai cancer
It should be forbidden to draw slugacts in any other style than the original
The game being demystified with people talking about "gittting gud" and advanced movements all the fricking time like it's something you need to learn is already bad enough but when furries start making cutesy slugcat picture it gets me really mad.
There's a reason why HK threads went from being a really comfy place to talk about your favorite game to some coomer lair no one dares enter anymore.
Don't let this happen to RW, it's already bad enough as it is.
An uphill battle. Normal people move on and can't discuss same shit forever. Crazy freaks do not run out of energy to post their object of adoration.
You cannot stop this from happening, especially with media like this which attracts freaks due to factors absolutely unrelated to the game itself. I've seen furgays who haven't played the game post slugcats maniacally.
You can only delay it with quality posting and enjoy it while it lasts, as sad as it may be.
>Fricking mario had long sidescrolling levels while transworld has these small boxes and you can go into a box and immediately have an alligator in your face.
Yes, I agree. Static camera has been a technical compromise and an artistic decision, game tries to counteract these issues with threat music but you will die to offscreen enemies more than once. Its not really a map design issue, its more of a camera issue though. If you really hate it, there's a mod to scroll the camera, but it fricks over visual style.
There is a single upgrade in the entire game which actually locks your progression and you get it during the story. Not sure about "small boxes", room layout can be confusing but they're all visually distinct and easy to memorize as long as you actually spend time learning them.
World is as open as it gets, you can go nearly anywhere whenever you want, which is the opposite of what you imply. >And then the game tries to pretend like it's Stalker with the rain events, so when you are going someplace and playing this chore of a game the game stops you and goes ''heh kiddo, you have to go find a hole to hide in because it's raining :)''
Average cycle length is pretty lax. Experienced player can get from outskirts starting room to moon in a single cycle. It exists to give you incentive to look for shelters and food sources instead of aimlessly wandering around, and created quite a few memorable moments of me getting into safety moments before being killed by rain during my first playthrough.

Regular games just have the character snap into place and move where you point them, while nugames have windups and the character turns before moving, stuff like that. Also, when i asked about movement, i meant more stuff like webm.
Buddhist shit makes sense in context. He was literally designed and built for that singular purpose of helping you to ascend, it's his duty to do so. Alt endings frick over the message and the spiritual journey which is closely tied to acts of the game you go through. First, you're scared and afraid, then you find a purpose, then you get bored and decide to do whatever you want to fulfill your strive for joy, and then you leave the world behinds as you have got everything you wanted. Happy endings just don't work with that formula.
frick
in my first playthrough I started from waterfront facility and went all the way around through the underhang area with all the spiders and goddamn miros vultures
instead of just
climbing one room up from that orb
that was a year ago and I'm still pissed off
Im honestly quite fond of moon/submerged the only part that really gets me is how her version of the wall is so out of the way (and also disconnected from the rest of it in precipice) that it kinda defeats that option entirely. I get it differs from pebs but it does mean there isnt really a shortcut method through moon. especially since her puppet room is walled off from one side.
I also kinda wish it was somewhat accessible as arti, even if just a bit of it.
My spearmaster playthrough I went in from the bottom and the atmosphere is impeccable. I skipped through most of it because lets be real spearmaster isn't infinite spears, he's infinite ladders.
>entered this area through precipice >"getting here through precipice was a little annoying and I lost my grappleworm crutch. I should find another way to exit" >Luna just circles me back to Neural Terminus >enter vents starting from the rightmost area
What an awful day that was.
why are some of my belly slides really short and pathetic? It doesn't seem to be tied to stamina, is there some hidden relation with the exact timing of when you press jump + down?
Yes, if you mistime jumping and getting down it will not go as far and won't allow you to chain other moves. Press buttons together and hold them for longer, slides are actually surprisingly easy to mess up and a lot of good players I've seen play do that as well.
>Newton's 3rd law applies in reverse, where you are boosted in the direction you throw something >except for the specific scenario where you are belly sliding and throw an item backwards to boost you forwards
why must you be like this
I did!
I got one of pebbles gold pearls and a bunch of others and a neuron fly to moon and frankly feel like I beat the game.
I know pebbles wants me to beat the cycle or whatever but i'm fine here.
>Want to explore modded region with Gourmand >Inmediatly start game with 2 slugpups >and I already had Survivor with one slugpup when I went to Journey End >And I dont want to play as Monk or Rivulet.
Of to play Hunter/Artificer/Spearmaster, and leaving any slugpup I find to Nature mercy again....
not them but, they asked for good mods not if they exist.
why do people respond to very specific questions with "here is the wiki" now? this happens to me A LOT.
Look here
https://rainworldmods.miraheze.org/wiki/Regions
https://www.raindb.net/
And look for any regions that have changes to the region for Saint.
Some people just can't help themselves. They want to be part of the convo. Probably any convo, I assume out of sheer boredom, so they reply even if they have nothing of value to add. Sometimes they'll reply JUST to say they have nothing to add.
Worst is >Is aspect of this game I'm on the fence on good >Lol dunno dude but I watched a review
or >People say it is lol
Google first page result tier vague non-answers
Saint requires a bit more work than the other slugs to build around. That being said he has two highly developed regions so far: The Mast has an entirely changed region to fit him, and Neuron Forest is EXCLUSIVE to saint albiet its not amazing but its interesting. Coral Caves also has saint unique adaptions and while gameplay wise its not great, aesthetically its amazing especially the FROZEN WATER EFFECTS WITH A FRICKING LEVIATHAN SUSPENDED IN THE ICE Stormy Coast is also good. Sadly far shore/moss fields is going with excluding saint for lore reasons (they take a dip before they are relevant. That's about it though. Most regions arent adapted for him and it will suddenly take a massive whiplash from the lack of snow. But im hoping for more spearmaster/saint overhauls for old regions because theyre cool as frick.
No, not pixel perfect. If anything, its pretty lax on platforming with an exception of a few select regions.
Controls will feel clumsy and that's intended, you will get used to them after the first half dozen of hours. If you can't handle it, do pass.
It's never been pixel perfect infact its pretty generous compared to actual focused platformers. Most platforming sections can be done by holding up so you just grab shit on the way down
Atleast until you start doing dumb bullshit with the movement engine.
You can enable/disable the dlc and all of its features in the game. In any case, yes, get the vanilla version first and play through it before considering anything at all about Downpour
Ideally. hell even using the steam or whatever you grab it from to rollback to 1.1 isn't a bad idea. If you really like the game you'll rack up a ton of time in it anyway.
That being said the latest version has some nice additions like re-adding wall pouncing, extra enemy sounds which adds a lot of personality and an effect that clearly identify's bottomless pits which is surprisingly unclear in a couple of areas. you can mod v1.5 to hell and back id you dont wanna buy dlc. I got like 600 hours out of that alone. Donwpour is really good content wise, people can argue back and forth about the quality of the writing and shit but it feels good in the moment and adds a lot of replayability, the base game is always there anyway. Its fun, thats the important part.
They are all downpour questions lore of which is shit. Except the two last ones.
Iterators already repair themselves. That's the exact reason moon collapsed. She was starved of resources to do that.
They don't have to, they fill their ecological niche and if anything tthese should be scavengers building the next civilization, but it is what it is and you can't guarantee anything, since if scavs live comfortably whereever they are and are not forced to adapt - they will never evolve to learn anything complex. That's why primates are currently in early stone age but dolphins are completely fine and not going anywhere for millions of years.
The Gourmand made the story up n shit but actually it's just that the devs wanted to add crafting.
Artificer's pups die because they already reached nirvana n shit but actually it's because devs wanted drama.
She just can, okay?
Rivulet helps moon because she's the devs self insert.
Slugcat OCs.
Gourmand made 5P open the noor and now there's a shit ton of illegal aliens.
5P got fricked up in Rivulet's and Saint's campaigns cuz devs wanted drama and tragedy n shit
Vanilla lizards are fairly tame and believable in terms of adaptations in case of vanilla.
With two exceptions: reds and cyans. However, considering that over time their population declines as less and less iterators were able to stay operational, it is safe to assume that they're just genemodded pet projects of bored gods which cannot actually sustain themselves in the ecosystem.
DLC character abilities are way too extreme to be believable. No matter of bioengineering will give you ability to re-animate life out of inorganics or survive an explosion of a grenade in your hands unharmed.
>genemodded pet projects of bored gods
An alternative I've been thinking about is that they're remnants from the times of the ancients. We do have pearl information about using creatures for sport or other purposes (Bright Magenta in Shoreline)
>why can gourmand pull items out of his fat ass
it's a story, he's telling a story to the other scugs in the expanse >why do artificer pups die forever
whenever you die, you die forever for everyone else, but from your own perspective the cycle traps you and you come back. it's like whenever you kill some other creature they also permanently die (the nest just has another creature move in, sometimes a different kind)
this begs the question, why didn't artificer just kys herself when the pups died to come back to the time before they died. it could be explained by her as a character not being aware of the cycles, i guess. who knows. >why can artificer leech karma from scavengers
because the gates exist, but artificer is stuck at karma 1 because violencia, and the dev had to put some way to let you through. and we didn't know how the other creatures manage to migrate between regions, so at least that explains how scavengers do it. >why does riv help moon
the pearl implies that someone sent her there with instructions >slugcat OCs
I get where the question is coming from. you know, even before the DLC we had lizards that can rocketjump, or turn nearly completely invisible, or communicate telepathically. and centipedes that produce electric shocks and are armored with metallic plates. you could wonder why didn't the OG slugcats have strange abilities too.
to answer the stated question, ancients created engineered organisms. no reason to believe iterators somehow didn't think to do that in their efforts to create a portable, generally applicable "ascendance" device, and some of them likely did experiments on slugcats as well >stray pups
idk >why can't iterators repair their own structures
it's a partially biological structure, it's more that it "heals" rather than it is "repaired"
>artificer
mad up boogieman myth to get little scavvies to behave
>rivulet
heard about 5p from moon thanks to that one pearl and went to check it out
found a dying man, and heard his final wishes to deliver a thing to moon
heard from moon where said thing is supposed to go
all the info was right there, starting from the moment rivulet found that pearl. why rivulet decided to act on any of it is known only to it and to you, the player who chose to act on it instead of going for ascension right away. after all, you didn't just look up what to do on a guide, riiiight?
>mutations
see my points on gourmand and artificer. spearmaster, hunter and possibly saint were bio-engineered. only crazy mutation out there is rivulet, and the evolutionary pressure to be fast and hold your breath was right there thanks to 5p.
>pup death
from your personal vantage point? yes, the pup is dead and not coming back
how this looks like from the pup's point of view (or any other creature you kill for that matter) is a mystery, and never properly explained
>ascend sliver of straw >spend a zillion cycles doing literally nothing >wait until the world has gone to shit and is nearly impossible to traverse to start ascending other iterators
shit doesn't add up
Most if not all of the regions are just exploring, and maybe Pearls giving some fan lore to read.
Maybe if anything if one wants to replay the game, can just play it but this time with regions mods installed.
>it's over...
NO. ITS NOT OVER.
Restart Saint, and do it again, dont be a pussy. Besides, take it as a change to play Saint but using cool mods like Scroll Camera, or any region mods. Take this mistake, and make it into an opportunity.
Anyone know of any region mods that replace/signifcantly alter vanilla regions in such a way you can't exactly beeline it to the end of the game anymore?
i wont do what you tell me

Lobotomize scavs. Mandatory abortions for scavs. Grind scav fetuses in the garbage disposal. Drown scavs in fried vulture grease. Vaporize scav with a singularity bomb. Kick old scavs down the wall. Feed scavs to leviathans. Slice scavs with a katana.
>it catches the set off bomb
Straight out of a cartoon, hehe
Its necessary. Have fun.
Devs will come out on twitter and say that it's actually a male, only after people have sexualized it enough, of course! That seems like a trend to me.
Slugcats are a 100% female species.
>"cool a rain world thread!"
>actually just a weird coomer thread
ugh
Start discussin then
they're your peers: the other people interested in the game. think on that.
why do these animals make us horny?
they're built for big iterator wiener
true if male
when compared relative to body size rather than in absolute terms, humans are the primate with the largest wiener
it follows, that for an iterator to have a big wiener, it must be large relative to their own bodysize
which begs the question: how big is an iterator, really?
is it just the puppet? moon with just a scant five neurons, is already a fully fledged person, as far as we're aware. yet 5P, once robbed of his tin can, is little more than a broken shadow of the man he used to be.
there is an argument to be had that an iterator encompasses not just the puppet, but their entire can, and thus must have a wiener with a size to match: at least a handful screens big
but, is it just the can? we know 5P and moon's influence reaches all the way to the retaining wall, much like your own head's influence reaches all the way to your toes. we also know that everything within the retaining wall was repurposed to serve and provide for the local iterator in one way or another, much like all your organs are made to serve the brain, directly or indirectly. leaving aside moon and 5P's special circumstances as sort of conjoined twins, it can no doubt be said that an iterator is in fact the size of all rain world regions put together (save outer expanse, of course).
therefore, an iterator's wiener must be at least the size of a small region
the logistics behind fricking something as small as a slugcat with something as large as big iterator wiener are left as an exercise for the reader
Downpour is shit
In what way?
In short, the problem is that downpour is a mod that the original devs sniped and sold instead of doing any work.
Didnt they hire the mod authors and rework stuff
No, it was a mod, and they didn't hire anybody. I wonder how finances are distributed now, considering that there were like 30 contributors.
when msc became downpour it was expanded on and polished
Expanded on and polished by other mod developers.
The only input the original developers had was James (the music guy) mastering soundtrack to fit with original style. He did a good ass job, considering that many tracks deviate quite a lot.
Better that than nothing, i guess. If we wouldn't have been so lucky, ip rights to rw would've been still dusting in basement of adult swim.
Nothing would indeed have been better
It doesn't help dlc is generally regarded as non canon
The perfect excuse to be lazy
On topic of poor room design
Without spoilers, are Hunter and Monk also generic subspecies, or are they OCs?
>Without spoilers, are Hunter and Monk also generic subspecies, or are they OCs?
Monk: generic subspecies
Hunter: OC
>tfw didn't care for monk and was actually interested in Hunter
Ah shite.
Hunter was made by the devs pre-dlc. there is a story reason for the time limit though thats expanded on in downpour
I don't want the whole story spoiled just yet, but I did get spoiled that he was apparently sick with something and failed to do anything about it, so he turned into a grotesque feral blob monster in downpour. Very mean spirited.
this is wrong and you're a moron
whoever made that video is a moron too
hunter canonically finishes their job and ascends.,
that is what happens if you fricking lose, but you aren't a failure, you finish your journey, you complete your pilgrimage, and win.
>this is wrong and you're a moron
have a nice day rude Black person. Not reading the rest of it or any of your replies because you're a rude Black person who wants to blow the lid on the whole story.
Hi anon,
It appears you have been misled.
It will be in the room that your Hunter run ended.
>blow the lid on the whole story.
It's the opposite, he's trying to clarify that you were spoiled with false information.
It'd be like refusing to read harry potter because you heard dumbledore killed snape.
Well if he's telling me the story of Harry Potter then maybe I shouldn't resd that because I want to read the book on my own instead of hearing his synopsis. I wasn't actually spoiled then that's great, thanks for telling me, but that's all the more reason not to get into details about what actually happens, because I don't know and don't want to be told until I find out myself.
>spoiler
Now I'm glad I never bought that fanfic then
This doesn't happen, it only is if you permadeath as hunter, then some fricked up daddy-long-legs-esque rot spawns where you died.
This isn't part of the story or anything. Canonically, hunter got what he was bringing where it had to go, and then ascended.
just hard/easy mode lol
Were you born after the year 2000? Just wondering.
Hint: Don't go to drainage system.
In fact you can even beat the game without going to shoreline.
The shiny guy told me to go there
Farthest I got was the shaded citadel
I'm 25
you could go straight to pebbles via chimney canopy but you're missing out
>iterators talk like highschoolers
On my quest for fan art, I've seen more underage rainworld fans on twumblr with it pronouns and iterator OC profile pictures than I would like to.
It's got the starcraft 2 problem
>bad lore
>bloat
I have rainworld but not downpour and haven't played it yet. Should I even bother with downpour?
Only on sale. I actually had fun on my first character (Spearmaster) fricking around in shoreline. The only time, now that I think about it.
>literally just a gif of a squirrel cartoon standing upright
>weird fricks get uncontrollably aroused
What the frick is wrong with you weirdos
their minds have been morphed by oppressive darkness and porn threads. time for me to get out of here.
So any other pc games with similar characters?
White people thread
Any mods you guys would recommend? I'm trying out pearlcat while exploring some custom regions. Recently found my way to the Badlands and it is pretty neat so far
I just wait for the wanderer to re-release. Hopefully gonna be good, but outside of custom regions there isn't much to go for.
I reccomend most of the pre-DP region ports (and reworks) like Mast, Scorched District and Coral Caves. Some of the newer regions are cool too, like Stormy Coast and Far Shore.
HER!?
Yes
anybody complete all the expeditions? how awful was it?
If you mean the missions - they weren't so bad. Spearmaster and saint ones are easily the worst, but managable. Grinding expedition levels is just a giant grindfest.
People who are into obesity make me want to lose weight
To become a cute skinny guy
I hate the consequences of dating sim on this community. If acting getting sexually aroused by characters was restricted to small group of furgay weirdos, it is a norm now to argue about genders and other normie shit
Downpour was a mistake
devs being furgays ruined it
I deliberately played a game with animal characters and now I am mad. How could this happen to me?
The game doesn't look like degenerate furgay shit
I was deceived
her? what the frick?
slugcats have genders?
also there's oinly 3slugcats, white, yellow, and red
is this supposed to be the red one? or something else?
oh right its from the fanfiction mod that was sold as a dlc called downpour? sorry im playing expiedition mod without your gay shit
seethe
cope
where does sneed fall on this chart?
beats nothing, loses to nothing
God these threads went down the shithole.
Does Downpour have a gay time limit on any of the new tunnel ferrets? Or is it just the Hunter? Also why is it so moronicly expensive holy shit frick that.
>gay time limit
One of the first fricking things I modded out of my first hunter playthrough.
Nowadays though I find it very easy to complete without even getting close to the time limit.
https://www.raindb.net/index.html
"Unlimited Hunter Cycles" I think it was called. something like that.
>new tunnel ferrets
nah
> why is it so moronicly expensive holy shit frick that
You know ~~*Why*~~
>In January 2022, Videocult announced that due to publisher issues with Adult Swim Games, Rain World was now being published by Akupara Games after a prolonged legal dispute.
can't you just adjust the timer in-game now?
yeah, in the remix menu.
probably. havent played this stupid game in like 3 yearse.
there's a difference between snoy and this bullshit that looks like an indie game from 2004
compare to, say, ori and the blind forest.
i see what you're saying, but downpour is basically "rainworld 2" - the amount of new content, areas, slugcats, one of them is in a different timeline with an entirely different world basically (Saint) so it's pretty much like buying two separate games. it goes on sale often enough and again you can just go to the usual places to get it for free if you really give a shit. it's definitely a unique game and worth at least one playthrough, i wont try to shill it on you, i dont cvare if you buy it, but if you dont play it you're just denying yourself. since you referenced monkey island i will say that you probably deserve good games, so, i'd say you owe it to yourself to play this game. it's really good.
hunter/monk are not as donut steel as the garfield fat fetish one or edgy mcedgeface "i am woman hear me roar" in the OP.
they feel somewhat believable in the world.
>i see what you're saying, but downpour is basically "rainworld 2" - the amount of new content, areas, slugcats, one of them is in a different timeline with an entirely different world basically (Saint) so it's pretty much like buying two separate games. it goes on sale often enough and again you can just go to the usual places to get it for free if you really give a shit. it's definitely a unique game and worth at least one playthrough, i wont try to shill it on you, i dont cvare if you buy it, but if you dont play it you're just denying yourself. since you referenced monkey island i will say that you probably deserve good games, so, i'd say you owe it to yourself to play this game. it's really good.
>Cycles
>Also why is it so moronicly expensive
$15 is not a lot of money dude.
you are a fricking idiot.
just pirate it if that's too much money.
the gog version is floating around. igg-games or something.
>$15 is not a lot of money dude.
Base game is already 15 or 20. Never pay more than 20 bucks for a videogame.
DLC key is <$5.
None of the new characters have a permanent cycle limit and you can also adjust the hunter cycles in the remix menu if you wanna play for hundreds of cycles instead
Why did they draw Moon with a large ass?
For me, its 5p
Why is he called Five Pebbles? What do rocks have to do with anything? And why is he such a dickhead to me?
because he had 5 kidney stones and never recovered
What monster does to a mf
why is she called looks to moon?
why is it called Four Needles under Plentiful Leaves?
“You have no name. I once had! I was embalmed, adorned, readied for the journey. So proud! There was jubilation. My name was sung, loud and clear. Did they know? That I didn’t quite leave, didn’t quite stay? Should I be ashamed? That I linger here, where my memories are kept? Should I be ashamed that I now envy your flesh prison?”
Moon's city is called Luna so that maybe. No idea for the others
5 Natural Urges
>lust
>hunger
>building a cabin
>conquering the neighboring tribe
What am I missing?
To hear the lamentation of scav women.
Anon that would fall under lust.
>As you should know, iterators such as Pebbles cannot ascend
I didn't really read any lore analysis or anything, so all I know is that I played a white ferret that got dragged into a black pit of nothingness by a giant tapeworm where a tree with other ferrets awaited him. Someone told me it means that he actually killed himself, but I don't know how the end is supposed to convey that.
He has freed his spirit from the mortal realm, he has left the eternal cycle, he has moved beyond, with the rest of his family that he was searching for, and is reunited with them in the next world.
The body dies, but the spirit carries on.
>snailcat
Bahahahaha.
This kind of association is one of the two reasons I refuse to call them slugcats. The other is the facts that it's very unpleasant to pronounce a word where a g is near a k. I go with tunnel ferret.
scug :DDD
I just call them bawdcats
I was trying to save a file as slugcat, but since g is next to t, i accidentally typed bawdcat...
Because the civilization that used to inhabit the planet gave very flowery and poetic names to things.
Because at the peak of his superstructure, at the place where you can see his city, there are five boulders lined up in the center of the room.
>Why is he called Five Pebbles?
>What do rocks have to do with anything?
i see he had something of a... heh... hohoho... unfortunate.. pfff... development... hohoho
Heh
I liked it better when the slugcats were grounded and simple
now all the ones they added seem like donut steels with super powers
>seem like donut steels
Gourmand is implied to be making his adventures up entirely, but needle mouse was literally tailor made to be special, as was the water one.
They're in-universe donut steeles, specifically copying the success of the first guy to do this with a catrat
I saw gourmands as an exaggerated tale but not made up entirely.
Hunter was just supposed to be hard mode, mornk was just supposed to be easy (easier*) mode
Checked trips of truth
already did, its a great game.
damn these threads really are just the same exact arguments over and over?
i guess theres not much to discuss anymore anyways.
The game is too scary for me sometimes, specially when water is involved
Monk drowns faster so this made the whole thing worse
>monk drowns faster
Bullshit, lol, you're just fricking with m-
>pic related
Huh. I never even noticed.
Well apparently in Remix you can make it 1.25x the breath instead of 0.83x the breath.
(literal joke)
>tfw stuck on challenge 70
>Cheat my way through challenge 70
>End up needing a good handful of tries anyway
This is why metroid 1 is better than super metroid which is better than symphony of the night, by the way.
you need to roll for about 3 to 4 rolls which requires a high enough height to drop from and enough distance to gain that many rolls. it will stun most lizards, only kill the weaker ones.
its not nearly as often as you make it seem. im just saying that noobs who shit on the fat frick are obviously skill-lets.
haha neck go snap
He really is the best downpour slugcat.
>survivor
dull for mods but the vanilla 1.1-1.5 experience is immaculate and incomparable (honestly going back before 1.5 is kinda eh, stuff like dropwigs really add to the experience and its just less jank)
>hunter
peak gameplay.
Plus not a lot of people know this but If you lie down you recover stamina faster.
is not hard, he's just annoying
This.
He's the opposite of hard. He has easy stuns and 1 shots. But unlike Arty who's downside is engaging with the world more which is fun, Gormand's downside is having ot just not play the game every time you do certain actions or play a shit character

kek i hated this part of the game for the same reasons
but once you get the "upgrade" that puts a light inside you, it's gg ez
Are the spiders afraid of the light or do they attack it? Last time I tried to bring a light rat into a pitch black area they swarmed and ate it.
depends.
"some" spiders scatter
"other" spiders, bigger spiders, come after you anyway.
they don't really like light in smaller numbers but they do like light rats (to eat)
fairly sure they can tell the difference
worst comes to worst the rat makes for a good decoy
There are other light sources than the rats.
That's all I'm gonna say without spoilering anything.
the way the spiders work is that if there's no light, they swarm you immediately and kill you
if you project light, they run away and start to form into the shape of a centipede. Once there's enough spiders to make a full size chain, they get aggressive again and stop fearing light.
So the danger depends on how many spiders are in the room.

what is it with female animators and warrior cats
Same basic appeal as Harry Potter (guaranteed acces to a position in a clearly defined aspect of society (the edgy clan, the noble clan, the clan that got its ass kicked, etc)), but also cats are cute.
Its more of an appeal to losers than women specifically. A lot of those animations are made by the same very fall number of people.
I see
>WHIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
OHNONONONONO AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOOK AT THE TOP OF HIS HEAD,
There are near countless meanings and interpretations about the moon out there, but one of the most prominent ones is feminine energy.
> All that yammering
Her city has a big moon-shaped structure hanging in the middle of it.
That's why she's called Looks to Moon.
Downpour content. Fan fiction
Nah.
i do not recommend aether ridge for anyone except those who want a Path of Pain experience from rain world
how do I beat Hunter within the cycle limit?
What's the problem?
Just go normal route.
Just kill anything that gets in your way and don't die.
Easy.
I did my Monk and Hunter runs simultaneously. The former to plan a route, and the latter to actually execute it
Savescum, and don't do stupid shit like go to sky islands.
Why waste your fricking time.
Yes, hunter always started with a pearl. Bring it to pebbles you moron.
>to five pebbles
Looks like you're the moron here
meant moon
w/e homie
my first hunter run i didnt even help moon :/
anyway.
my 2nd run went much better. farm arrays > sky islands > chimney canopy > wall > pebbles > wall > chimney canopy > industrial complex > shaded citadel > shoreline > subterranean
. Yes, there’s a gate to subterranean directly from shoreline. The way to the subterranean is in the left of the sewer section of shoreline.
don't try to go through outskirts. trust me..
Pic related was my path
>Farm Arrays to Chimney Canopy gate shelter. if pressed for time, sleep at one of the Sky Islands shelters along the way (green line)
>Chimney Canopy (or Sky Islands) to Exterior, sleep at the bottom (cyan line)
>Go back for the Chimney Canopy Echo (blue line)
>Speedrun through Sky Islands for the Echo (blue line)
This is my route through Sky Islands
ignore pearl, just do neuron. You can do pearl on a separate run if you are curious
in addition to that, you can do sky islands, just use starve mode for infinite retries. You lose additional cycle on a success but there's still more than enough cycles to make it.
slugcats are male, sorry coomer
what's the name of the youtuber who has tons and tons of autistic high skill footage of rain world? I can't find him by searching.
>troony game
i play (survivor) coop mode with my gf and it makes her super horny i would recommend. game of the century despite the troon shit
>it makes her super horny i would recommend
explain?
> game of the century
this is true btw
that's actually every echo for hunter, lol.
My guess she's either a vore furry or gets riled up by the tension
>vore furry
what the frick
what do these fetishes have anything to do with rw. especially vore.
anon
most threats out there wants to eat the slugcat and is bigger than you
it shouldn't be that hard to put two and two together
except they don't actually swallow you and it's a organic part of nature you participate in. are you telling me that voregays will be aroused by the thought of a bear ripping them apart?
they are moronic, anon...
I bet it's even him alone and not his imaginary gf
>"are you telling me that voregays will be aroused by the thought of a bear ripping them apart?"
First time learning about hard vore?
Nothing stopping the "swallow me whole" voregays from twisting things around a bit first chance they get, anyway. You're just playing dumb in hopes someone posts vore, aren't you?
yes, that's the first time i hear of "hard vore" and since i haven't learned it about before it should be evident that i am absolutely not interested in the topic
rain world is objectively the greatest game of all time
Top tier atmosphere at least
>only Slugcats get these crazy mutations
Is it known how much time passed between each campaign in Downpour? I don't think the mutations of Rivulet and Saint are that unbelievable. I think there are also more "water lizards" in the time of Rivulet's campaign and the lizards in Saints time have a thicker hide.
If the slugcats are sent out by iterators, they were most likely genetically engineered to have certain traits like Spearmaster having the ability to receive transmission signals
Surely they could've picked a better organism than the lads who can get killed easily by almost anything. They're slow to travel too
They're the only ones willing or smart enough to listen
Scavs are clearly more intelligent however, and they're probably even related to the original humans who killed themselves.
She look like she hibernate with human men
transworld is a shit game and the only good thing about it is that it has dynamic animations and the animals have dynamic behaviors
because the animation is the only good thing the game is liked purely by autistic furries who want to frick the little creatures and find the death animations erotic
remove the animations and there is nothing there, a shallow boring platformer with bottom of the barrel terrible map design
what are your thoughts on movement system and why do you consider map design to be bad? because you constantly get lost?
I did
It's fun
>Rain World is one of the best recent games I played
>Game notable chunk of "fans" are trannies and Tumblr/DeviantArt OC-donutsteel makers.
>Even the reeeditt has trans and gay icons and the sub banner, just because.
Frick this shit.
if anything rainworld is an anti-trans story lmao.
the whole pebbles situation and how he ends up hurting one of his closest friends after attempting to alter self because he was not satisfied with his form and then eventually fails to handle the aftermath and lives his last days in pure suffering.
they are clearly too stupid to notice that
He was just trying to rewrite his code thoughever, the only way to do that with his components being biological just happened to risk producing hentai cancer
It exists to give you incentive to look for shelters and food sources instead of aimlessly wandering around, and created quite a few memorable moments of me getting into safety moments before being killed by rain during my first playthrough.
for
Also, when i asked about movement, i meant more stuff like webm.
>Expeditions have permadeath and no way to raise your karma to 10
Why the frick
made for amazon position
I still don't know how to roll. So far my regular movement consists of belly slide + jump at the end, but I don't know how to roll consistently.
you just hold down and left or right while falling
Why did they do it?
frick
in my first playthrough I started from waterfront facility and went all the way around through the underhang area with all the spiders and goddamn miros vultures
instead of just
climbing one room up from that orb
that was a year ago and I'm still pissed off
I mean it felt great to get through but after seeing that much easier path I just feel like a dumbass for not trying
I skipped through most of it because lets be real spearmaster isn't infinite spears, he's infinite ladders.
maybe their butt hurt
>entered this area through precipice
>"getting here through precipice was a little annoying and I lost my grappleworm crutch. I should find another way to exit"
>Luna just circles me back to Neural Terminus
>enter vents starting from the rightmost area
What an awful day that was.
why are some of my belly slides really short and pathetic? It doesn't seem to be tied to stamina, is there some hidden relation with the exact timing of when you press jump + down?
Yes, if you mistime jumping and getting down it will not go as far and won't allow you to chain other moves. Press buttons together and hold them for longer, slides are actually surprisingly easy to mess up and a lot of good players I've seen play do that as well.
>Newton's 3rd law applies in reverse, where you are boosted in the direction you throw something
>except for the specific scenario where you are belly sliding and throw an item backwards to boost you forwards
why must you be like this
Doing a slide boost and killing something behind you with a spear is badass as frick
is apex predator not necessary for the expedition leader achievement??
It should be? What trouble are you having with it?
I did!
I got one of pebbles gold pearls and a bunch of others and a neuron fly to moon and frankly feel like I beat the game.
I know pebbles wants me to beat the cycle or whatever but i'm fine here.
Based seeker of simpler joys.
Come back when the cycle will tire you out.
she's quite capable you know
lol I didn't know you could just pull the masks off
>Want to explore modded region with Gourmand
>Inmediatly start game with 2 slugpups
>and I already had Survivor with one slugpup when I went to Journey End
>And I dont want to play as Monk or Rivulet.
Of to play Hunter/Artificer/Spearmaster, and leaving any slugpup I find to Nature mercy again....
Any good modded regions for saint?
Look here
https://rainworldmods.miraheze.org/wiki/Regions
https://www.raindb.net/
And look for any regions that have changes to the region for Saint.
not them but, they asked for good mods not if they exist.
why do people respond to very specific questions with "here is the wiki" now? this happens to me A LOT.
they are all good!
Some people just can't help themselves. They want to be part of the convo. Probably any convo, I assume out of sheer boredom, so they reply even if they have nothing of value to add. Sometimes they'll reply JUST to say they have nothing to add.
Worst is
>Is aspect of this game I'm on the fence on good
>Lol dunno dude but I watched a review
or
>People say it is lol
But im hoping for more spearmaster/saint overhauls for old regions because theyre cool as frick.
is it still pixel perfect platformer with dogshit controls?
I think I'll pass
It never was
You must suck
No, not pixel perfect. If anything, its pretty lax on platforming with an exception of a few select regions.
Controls will feel clumsy and that's intended, you will get used to them after the first half dozen of hours. If you can't handle it, do pass.
It's never been pixel perfect infact its pretty generous compared to actual focused platformers. Most platforming sections can be done by holding up so you just grab shit on the way down
Atleast until you start doing dumb bullshit with the movement engine.
Vaults are one of the most fun ones, there's enough movement autism for everyone
How do I get the button visualizations in my game? I'm gonna guess it's a mod since I can't find such option
It's in the options, under speedrun validation
It is neither
I WOULD a female gourmand
That is all, thanks for listening
So basically if I want to play this I get the vanilla version
You can enable/disable the dlc and all of its features in the game. In any case, yes, get the vanilla version first and play through it before considering anything at all about Downpour
The DLC is worth to get. But you can just get main game, and play Survivor/Monk, and then if you liked the game, get the DLC.
The DLC is good but definitely play pure vanilla for your first run
Ideally. hell even using the steam or whatever you grab it from to rollback to 1.1 isn't a bad idea.
Its fun, thats the important part.
this game is great and all but accidentally grabbing corpses in the middle of fights is responsible for 90% of my deaths
For me it's Ruffles
baste
Artificer and wet pussy completely mog every other cat in terms of popularity.
For any Rain World lore master anons here:
I challenge you to answers these questions.
5P got fricked up in Rivulet's and Saint's campaigns cuz devs wanted drama and tragedy n shit
>crazy mutations
What about the lizards?
Most of these can be answered with
>modders wanted cool new slugcats to do new cool things
>why can gourmand pull items out of his fat ass
it's a story, he's telling a story to the other scugs in the expanse
>why do artificer pups die forever
whenever you die, you die forever for everyone else, but from your own perspective the cycle traps you and you come back. it's like whenever you kill some other creature they also permanently die (the nest just has another creature move in, sometimes a different kind)
this begs the question, why didn't artificer just kys herself when the pups died to come back to the time before they died. it could be explained by her as a character not being aware of the cycles, i guess. who knows.
>why can artificer leech karma from scavengers
because the gates exist, but artificer is stuck at karma 1 because violencia, and the dev had to put some way to let you through. and we didn't know how the other creatures manage to migrate between regions, so at least that explains how scavengers do it.
>why does riv help moon
the pearl implies that someone sent her there with instructions
>slugcat OCs
I get where the question is coming from. you know, even before the DLC we had lizards that can rocketjump, or turn nearly completely invisible, or communicate telepathically. and centipedes that produce electric shocks and are armored with metallic plates. you could wonder why didn't the OG slugcats have strange abilities too.
to answer the stated question, ancients created engineered organisms. no reason to believe iterators somehow didn't think to do that in their efforts to create a portable, generally applicable "ascendance" device, and some of them likely did experiments on slugcats as well
>stray pups
idk
>why can't iterators repair their own structures
it's a partially biological structure, it's more that it "heals" rather than it is "repaired"
>gourmand
made up hero myth
>artificer
mad up boogieman myth to get little scavvies to behave
>rivulet
heard about 5p from moon thanks to that one pearl and went to check it out
found a dying man, and heard his final wishes to deliver a thing to moon
heard from moon where said thing is supposed to go
all the info was right there, starting from the moment rivulet found that pearl. why rivulet decided to act on any of it is known only to it and to you, the player who chose to act on it instead of going for ascension right away. after all, you didn't just look up what to do on a guide, riiiight?
>mutations
see my points on gourmand and artificer. spearmaster, hunter and possibly saint were bio-engineered. only crazy mutation out there is rivulet, and the evolutionary pressure to be fast and hold your breath was right there thanks to 5p.
>pup death
from your personal vantage point? yes, the pup is dead and not coming back
how this looks like from the pup's point of view (or any other creature you kill for that matter) is a mystery, and never properly explained
>use a guide
As if you didn't already know the iterators were points of interest from having played the base game
>go to citadel
>get ambushed by spider in absolute darkness
>uninstall
Many such cases
Anyone followed this guys advice?
NO
I MUST KILL
No, by the time I met him I was so sick of scavs and absolutely wanted them gone. Things may have been different if I heard his advice sooner.
I couldn't stomach the artificer anymore after finishing its campaign, Scavs are the opposite of fun to fight.
the concussive burst trivializes most scav fights. git gud
what did they mean by this
Accept the Worm
FRICK THSE CAMOUFLAGED homosexual LIZARDS
always at least one or two of these buttholes running down in the next room
sliver of straw made the saint, which promptly killed them, prove me wrong
>Saint
Challenge 70 isn't Canon, but personally I think just the fight part isn't canon since you can ascend pebble and moon as well
>ascend sliver of straw
>spend a zillion cycles doing literally nothing
>wait until the world has gone to shit and is nearly impossible to traverse to start ascending other iterators
shit doesn't add up
I loved this modded region, and I like there is a Spearmaster version on which the moss is green and hasnt evolved the pink color yet
Now, until the next region of this mod releases, lets theorize: What is beyond the shaded area?
Do any of these modded regions have campaigns or are they just dead ends for exploring?
Most if not all of the regions are just exploring, and maybe Pearls giving some fan lore to read.
Maybe if anything if one wants to replay the game, can just play it but this time with regions mods installed.
if there is an obese slugcat there should be a buff manly one, hahaha!
As a joke...
spoilers:
went to rubicon before ascending moon & pebbles
it's over...
>it's over...
