I liked it a lot, great blend of RE and SH. Problem is, the endings kind of suck, to unlock them is an obnoxious way to do it (especially if you're any sort of competent at those kinds of games), and there's nothing more to do after you beat the game.

Except I wasn’t filtered I played an hour past that point. When a game only gives you one option to get through an obstacle like this it’s just bad design. It would’ve been more interesting if they had you lockpick the door, create an alternative route swarmed by enemies, or a solution in the form of another key behind a boss.

..anon, that -is- a lockpick. You're literally moving the pins to rotate the tumbler. You can see the alignment constantly and see how correct your adjustments are. Once the pins are aligned with the shear line the door opens. That is how lockpicking and keys work.

      Gonna add some info
The lock pick is ALWAYS RAMDOM as of 1.2 and doesn’t have a good explanation. I gave it a good 10 minutes, looked it up, still had no idea what to do before finally bruteforcing it and getting it 25 minutes later.
The water puzzle is ALWAYS the same and is so poorly designed the entire procedure for it was rewritten in 1.2. It actually became even more confusing to do too if you compare the notes.
These are the puzzles that do not require key items taking up inventory space, like a keycard taking up the same size as a gun, and also sometimes needing 6 items to progress.
The puzzles are fricking shit don’t act otherwise.

Lockpick had the issue of the display being a little hard to discern in regards as to whether you have truly lined the tumblers up or not, but it really shouldn't take anyone more than a handful of minutes of fiddling with the controls before they understand what is it that they need to do.

This may surprise you, but a lot of lesbians really like masculine women. Not Ganker tomboy masculine women, but women with buzzcuts and dress like your 50 year old dad while he's tuning his car in the summer. I'm not sure why.

I think this game is talking about something a little more than human and kinda exploiting the lesbian shit as a "dehumanised" thing. It's sorta asking harsh questions about lgbt I think. It's treating it more than just a cult in the game, it's more like program to emulate human sexual impulses. But it also has this pure exploitative aspect that makes it clearly "a bit evil". It's so misshapen from even today's "abominations" that it makes those "abominations" look human at least. But it's also asking questions of "where is this really leading and is this really worth it?". It feels jaded and I guess self critical.

A state of "lividity" is very apparent. Being dead and dead inside.

NTA, but I agree it's lame. For anyone who hasn't played silent hill it's just shit. It was 3 am when I saw the "fake" ending so I exited the game and uninstalled. It was the real ending for me. And it sucked.

The game actually started off real strong. Investigating an spooky and isolated sci fi base with anime lesbian robots should have been an easy slam dunk, but the moment the game revealed it's monsters to be goofy robot zombies with meat cleavers I knew the game was going to be dogshit. The last section with no map, tedious backtracking, the same puzzle reused three times, and a nonsense layout is especially bad.

        >endlessly respawning enemies
        >give players items to stop them from respawning
        >more just spawn anyway
        >players expected to know to just ignore enemies and run past them because that's the "correct" way to play silent hill clones
        >constantly backtracking to stash because silent hill limited the player inventory so therefore it must be good design no matter how tedious it is

People liked it because they like silent hill and because they like anime lesbian robots and that's fine. Let's stop pretending it was a good game though, even if the fanart is super cute.

I liked it because it was a cool game with a very intriguing setting and a good sense of Lovecraftian dread, truly lovecraftian and not just "we got tentacles n shiet" that pop culture slop consumers think constitutes Lovecraft.

I got caught by the fakeout ending too, but that's because I was sick when playing the game and wasn't paying too much attention. I did see that the main menu was different and the eye ceased its movement, it was a nice and fluid scene transition from the fakeout ending cutscene to the main menu. You should not react so aggressively to getting tricked, it was fairly innocuous.

          Anonymous

There is a lot of that east/west berlin feel to it ay.
Something completely alien to me, having be born well after the fall of the wall.
But I could tell that aspect of the creator's context lingered very heavily on their minds in the creation of the game. The whole facility feels like regimented hellish nightmare where while it's trying to humanise things, there is something not quite right going on with the state and the abyss in the facility merely reflects what's happening deep in their own society.

As Elster descends into the facility and it's monstrousness becomes apparent, more is revealed about her own world and state in the process. They're sorta concatenated in a very clever way and this totally went over people's heads as far as reviews and shit goes. There's this heavy industrial soviet east german feel to things. It's not positive. It's very sinister in itself, because the pamphlets and whatnot are clearly laced with lie after lie. And you attached that to the realing truths as you descend into the dark. You also attach that to their meticulously detailed lifestyles - which people seriously think is just cutesy fanservice when clearly that was subversively concatenated with this sense of "something is wrong, something shouldn't be this way".

And something that is wrong is conveyed very sexually, very visually, very de-generatively (talking the degeneration of human form to mere flesh and blood pools) for a purpose. It's asking questions on our humanity and how our society may potentially be perturbing that for mere societal interests, not human individualistic interests. We're being turned into mush.

And then there's the eyes, the singularity, the hivemind, the disease and flagellate-like ritualism being evoked. Self punishment to find some truth, but ending up deep in an abyss to nowhere (literally a location name btw).

The gay shit actually made me hesitant and it's still really really good though.
It's kinda half explained and made a horror element in itself. Like why are they all nothing but girls? Why is that state making this a thing? Why is Alder treated like absolute shit until he snaps?

The yuri becomes less fanservice, more of a tool of oppression in the context of the game. It's so strange how it tricks people with the yuri tag still and no one considers it "a weird thing" for other contextual reasons. It's like female slavery is a common thing.

On top of that, instead of having good ammo management/limits for the number of enemies, the game just respawns enemies. Personally, it just doesn't with a backtrack heavy inventory management based survival horror. Not for me.

This is the reason all of these modern survival horror games suck, nobody actually played the early games, just read about them. After you get the shotgun in Resident Evil you can play the game more or less 100% action, which is way more fun than dodging. The enemies in Silent Hill are zero threat and you can beat the game easily with melee alone, the only reason to run past everything is because the combat is so dogshit it hurts to play.
If devs were actually competent and understood the games that came before they would correct the mistakes, not blindly repeat them

One of the rare game that actually made me cringe. Why for the love of god have they shoved so many references? In the fake ending there is literally 4 references in 5 seconds. The game feels cheap, it would be fine if it's a fan game, but here it seems almost everything in game is ripped off from something else without much alteration. I won't even go into "maybe it's a dream bro". The worst thing is that they could have explored their original lore because there are good, interesting things inside it. Like the game could have more East germany/Stasi bend which many are not familiar with. I have a feeling that target audience for this game are kids and 20somethings how never picked up a book. Similar audience to Nier automata, but at least it completely does its own thing.

          >so you can frick off

"frick off" isn't an argument. It's just whiny posturing that also deflects from the fact that you implied casuals don't like this game, when it's steam page proves otherwise, not to mention that the game is legit brain-dead. when people complain about "respawning enemies" or "6 item slot" they're not complaining about difficulty, because none of those have anything to do with difficulty, both can be circumvented, since enemies are brain-dead easy to run past, and you can just backtrack. It's an argument of principle against shit, and lazy game design that doesn't result in anything interesting or engaging, but pretends it does, by padding out content with tedium, since it has nothing else to offer.

and since I know you'll be predictably too moronic to figure this out, as most morons on Ganker are.

I already pointed to evidence that it appeals to normies, the steam reviews, and what the reviews actually say. Indie games rarely get that large of traction and that overwhelming positive reviews, unless they're high normie tier.

yeah. I don't even know why I unironically take this mentally stunted moron infested board seriously.

neither of you play videogames because if you did you wouldn't care if it was liked by casuals or only by autists, arguing about what's the playerbase of a singleplayer game is completely pointless

I am genuinely astounded that anyone found the drama of the main character remotely engaging.
It's so incredibly lifeless- there's so little the devs do to establish any chemistry or likeability for Elster and Ariane.
They liked to dance and watch movies. Wow. Never seen a character dynamic like that before.

If you want me to be sad when bad things happen to the character or are revealed to have already happened to them I have to actually care about them first.

Elster is compelled to feel this unbearable longing! How she suffers!
Ariane got bullied and now she has to go to space and leave everything behind!

            I don't care.

I HATE HATE HATE and despise people that respond to contentions like this. Because not only does it make it abundantly clear that whatever "depth" they see in the characters that made them cry is completely arbitrary and more so presentation, aesthetic and feeling based. But also because it's like such a stark expression of an unapprectiation of how mediums can depict GENUINE and substantial relationships that aren't just artificial props and cardboard representation of what every moron who's never been in a relationship...sees in a relationship.

Silent Hill 2's depiction of two people that love eachother, and therefore hated eachother had far more depth and genuineness to it. Too bad literally everything else about that game is shit, both gameplay and story wise. It could have been the one videogames story to ever get "people" and relationships right otherwise. But I can't ignore the abomination that is Eddie (and to a lesser degree, Angela because I'm supposed to feewl bad for her 🙁 omg)

frick. I hate you all so much. genuinely allow for such a low standard of storytelling and character writing.

just engage with the morons contention and make an actual argument or case that isn't just: "heh, he doesn't see what I SEE, because he didn't cry like I did. I'm going to smugly express that without actually demonstrating any reason why his assertion is wrong".

garbage, is what you all are. *sigh* why am I even wasting my time, people aren't gunna get any less shallow.

              Anonymous

Yeah, that's better than I could put it.
And like I said, I don't think a story necessarily needs really good character writing to be interesting, it's just strange that this is what everyone seems to latch onto signalis for when there's so little material.

It comes across like they're just injecting meaning and depth into the story based on its superficial resemblances to their own feelings/struggles.

              Anonymous

First off, don't *sigh* do this. It makes it impossible for me to take you seriously. Also what they posted was an opinion, I posted a contention. I don't charge rent for people being ESL but using ill fitting words drags down any point you're making.

Second, you have a multitude of notes and logs establishing Elster and Ariane's connections throughout the game and subtly building on it. Like your (and a lot of other people's favorite) example in SH2, you don't have a bunch of shit dumped on the player right away. The music and dancing bit is payoff for all the other stuff you're picking up along the way, as a final answer to the question of "who is she to you?"; which is great because it still leaves the question open "what was my promise?".

Third, touch grass. I don't "allow" low standards, and even if I somehow magically decided who does and doesn't write in an indie videogame, I would have difficulty grading SIGNALIS overall as anything less than competent.

I don't hate you for it, but I can only describe your line of reasoning as annoying.

Okay well take the opportunity to explain what about it worked for you.
I think it has the same problem as a lot of action movies- you're expected to feel sad because the protagonist's wife died in a tragedy! Don't you see how tortured he is!
Elster is compelled to feel this unbearable longing! How she suffers!
Ariane got bullied and now she has to go to space and leave everything behind!

              I don't care.

SIGNALIS's story works well in my mind because it's built on strong questions and draws parallels among them in a relatively small cast. "Who is this I am looking for?" "Where is she?" "Who is she to me?" "Why do I need to find her?" are all half-answered and hinted at as the story progresses. Sometimes you get answers without questions which are equally interesting in puzzling together what has transpired.

either that or they never played it and just heard about it and decided it is bad, which is also genuine mental moronation anyway

    >enemies respawn with much lower health
    >enemies are on the floor until you go near so they have almost no chance to bother you
    >the game is already way too stale when backtracking, potentially respawning enemies is the only thing that can add tension
    >the game has a frickton of flares for you to burn bodies
    >combined with just being able to WASD through the anemic ass shallow and pathetic enemies
respawning enemies is literally the only dynamism the enemies offer and one of their only ways to add more tension. Its literally the only good element in the most lackuster part of the game.

      Anonymous

There is an element of strategy later in the game on which enemies you may choose to burn to make backtracking easier; but overall only rooms with huge enemy density are frustrating to have revivals.

I think I only ended up having trouble in Nowhere because you have some rooms that are just fricking orgies in tight rooms, and that's only because I mismanaged my ammo and was down to only grenades.

I wouldn't put much stock in Solzhenytsin, he is basically a fiction writer. There's more reliable and accurate historical sources that accurately criticize the soviets and their failures of political and economic structure.

It doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in their game design if even they realized it was so bad they had to backtrack on it
But I don't really want to shit on them for having such a limited inventory AND shit on them for changing it, so I'll just say it's cool they made it toggleable and gave people options

It wasn't bad at all, it's just that a lot of people that lacked basic problem solving skills complained, so they included it as an option.

                >It wasn't bad at all, it's just that a lot of people that lacked basic problem solving skills complained, so they included it as an option.

there's no problem solving or even remotely close to puzzle like thinking involving inventory management. It's objectively just tedium and backtracking. Some people just have absolutely low standards and will let anything go because they're genuinely unthinking morons that latch onto the most surface level of games so desperately that you'd think they have no substance themselves.

regardless. your statement comes across moreso as insecure and defensive, than actual...statement about anything. please enlighten and do tell, how taking items back and from the inventory box, due to an arbitrary limitation of how much inventory can be carried. is "problem solving". Is it because you need to make a choice? Then every single game requires problem solving, but that would be a stupid thing to say, because the term would become meaningless so as to communicate nothing at that point.

Is it because you need to use flares, and or bullets and healing "effectively" so as to not carry them, so you can carry more puzzle items? That wouldn't change the inherent tedium that would still be present, you will be asked to carry more than 6 items regardless.

I'm curious. But I KNOW you have no answer, so I'm trying to give you something to work with.

Inventory limit increased to 10, I think, they also made the eye and flashlight not take up an inventory slot. Those features are toggleable. I had no issues even in Nowhere because the game establishes pretty early that puzzles are structured in such a way as to make sure you utilize the item box frequently.

It doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence in their game design if even they realized it was so bad they had to backtrack on it
But I don't really want to shit on them for having such a limited inventory AND shit on them for changing it, so I'll just say it's cool they made it toggleable and gave people options

Everything is going to hell because Ariane is trying to use the equivalent of the Heart of Lorkhan to make her dream override reality so that she could use the Heart of Lorkhan to make her dream override reality so that she could use the Heart of Lorkhan, e.t.c..She needs Elster to Monkey Typewriter her way into the correct solution over the course of an unknown amount of times of time loops to make it possible. Kind of, we don't know why Ariane's consciousness persisted past the death of her physical body and endured within the red realm. All we know is that she was a really powerful psychic and she spent a lot of time even past her death feeling like she's still dying of radiation poisoning, which is why you see so many shadows on the wall at S-23 and Rotfront. A leaked text from the French (?) version of the game hints that Ariane might have spent over seven hundred years in that state.

It's possible. The tesseract is incredibly important to whatever she's doing. It's there on the title screen and there in the hidden ending and its visible form is the thematic number repeated throughout the game.

There's two theories. Either the promise is not what we think it is, or it is, but Elster cannot fulfill it anyway because Ariane had been dead for a long time now, so Elster is now being used for something else entirely, such as Ariane's apotheosis. Does this look like someone that's begging to die?

They were and it is an important plot point you had overlooked, because all LSTR units have been scanned of a previously salvaged different LSTR unit instead of the original neural pattern stored within the archive, like it goes for every other replika presumably, because the oriignal neural pattern of the LSTR unit had been lost during the war.

                >because all LSTR units have been scanned of a previously salvaged different LSTR unit instead of the original neural pattern stored within the archiv
Which existed before Ariane went on the expedition and functioned fine until they started receiving signals from that expedition.
Also LSTR is really just another model of Falke, which also functioned fine before this incident.

                Anonymous

LSTR being a copy of a copy of a copy instead of just a copy of a copy like every other replika is a pretty important distinction, I would say and that wasn't just put into the game and shoved in front of your face as a red herring. All replika units eventually destabilize and end up decommissioned, it is pretty much a fact of life and every replika service manual communicates it as something that is only a matter of time.
                >Also LSTR is really just another model of Falke
Where did you get that from?

                >being a copy of a copy of a copy instead of just a copy of a copy like every other replika is a pretty important distinction
You're right that this is important, it's important because it makes her similarity to Falke a reveal rather than just outright telling you they're the same. But this doesn't remotely relate to Ariane except in explaining why they react the same way to the signals.

                Anonymous

I don't think that's the case at all with Falke and has more to do with the fact that she's a powerful bioresonant. My understanding is that all S-23 dwellers received a serious dose of Ariane's eldritch cancer further amplified by the LSTR from the prologue that was used to broadcast it as another medium. It's possible that gestalts were getting Ariane's memorise and Replika were getting LSTR's memories, but we also do not know which LSTR that is, it might have been a fresh one, or it might have been one that had finished one of the loops and just sat down to look at nothing, which she saw as a computer screen.

                Anonymous

No, I'm pretty sure other units are all just getting some kind of noise that drives them insane, there's no sign that the other units are receiving anything resembling Ariane or Elster's memories. Adler talks about persistent feelings of deja vu, nothing about Ariane or Elster. He even says- the only thing he understands is that when elster goes through the gate things get a little bit worse each time.
I feel like I'm arguing with your headcanon right now 'might have' 'we don't know' 'it's possible.'
Okay, but what's in the actual game?

                Anonymous

I highly doubt that Falke getting Elster's memories is evidence of Falke and Elster being somehow related or connected when Falke describes being poisoned by "the eye" beyond the gate which resulted in her receiving the memories. Whatever it was that had caused her to receive Elster's memories had been done to her intentionally and not as a consequence of some sort of a hidden connection.

                Anonymous

                >Whatever it was that had caused her to receive Elster's memories had been done to her intentionally and not as a consequence of some sort of a hidden connection.
I mean the other thing is that Elster's memories aren't even much of a factor here, most of the signals Elster gets are entirely from the time she spent with Ariane, sometimes Ariane's unique memories specifically (Elster receives Ariane's memory of being in the classroom, on the train).
The original elster unit is long dead. If any of elster's original memories were being transmitted I would have expected more of them to be from her unique background, either impressions from the war or otherwise.

                Anonymous

We do get the series of Elster's gestalt's, Lilith Itou, memories during the fakeout ending rapidly flashing across the screen. And LSTR coming to S-23 to look for Alina Seo, who was Lilith's comrade on Vineta, already showing that she malfunctions since the first moments of the game. The prologue LSTR is also different as she is looking for Ariane. That is from what I intuit the prologue LSTR being used in the broadcast. She couldn't be the original 512 because that one died when the ship's reactor shielding failed and both her and Ariane's bodies at the time should be drifting in a lifeless hulk of a ship somewhere around the Oort Cloud. But it also cannot be a fresh arrival to S-23, because that one is looking for Alina Seo. She sits down and continuously receives an encoded transmission from somewhere until her polyethelene shell peels away, which would be a considerable amount of time in an inhospitable environment.

To be fair, both this and Fear and Hunger have the same issue of "Borderline casualgays hear about neat game from X e-ecleb and obsess over it like it's the harbinger of indie video game renaissance," because they actually don't play that many new games and only ever get exposed to shit thanks to their online "friends" and some superficial element that makes their dick tingle (i.e. anime girls).

And a good chunk of Ganker is the same way, since this place gets an increasing number of those "borderline casualgays" immigrating here each day. They don't branch out to look for hidden gems. They don't explore other genres that might interest them. They just gravitate towards weebshit and whatever Markipediegold or Jerma or whoever is playing this week. You are permitted to be incorrect. It'd be delusional copium if it was a poorly substantiated fan theory instead of an ending implemented within the game. I do agree about the memory and leave. And killing Alina doesn't really solve anything either.

        Anonymous

i see it as this anon:

the promise that was shared between elster and ariane is, on the surface at least, to kill ariane. the promise ending shows the fulfillment of that promise. i do not see the lily ending as a fulfillment of that promise, instead it is just a dream within a dream, as seen by the big red eye above, where elster is trapped in a dance in the ruins of the penrose with ariane for eternity, an endless dance in a cherished memory, yet it is nothing but that, a nostalgic dream for a time long lost. is elster happy? perhaps, but at the cost of everything else, perhaps even of ariane, who gazes at the dream from beyond. a dance that never ends, never moving forwards nor back. just a singular moment now frozen in time. and yet we never get to see ariane's face in this ending.

so yes, i do think the lily ending is copium and thus i consider the promise ending to be the best ending.

You're making the mistake of choosing to view the Promise ending with the context of the game and its events and not doing the same thing for Artifact.

            Anonymous

well i am trying anon, but i'm more or less seeing the promise ending as a better ending than lily as its more narratively fulfilling at least to elster's journey despite the implication that it simply leads back to the loop (but then again, it could be argued that it's more of a thematic mirroring of the memory ending). i see the lily ending as somewhat 'worse' despite it breaking the cycle implied in the other three endings (by creating a different one entirely, just her and her love in that perpetual moment). elster collects three pieces, of love, of eternity, and of sacrifice, and opens that safe containing that memory. to achieve that ending requires breaking the fourth wall of the game itself, to realize its unreality. lily simply ends up in another unreality, and personally, that unreality feels more like an escape than an attempt to face truth, to hold on to that cherished love for eternity, sacrificing everything in her path for that fleeting shard of the past. it is happy, but it feels empty, broken even. and there is even that phrase on that ending, about men seeking of death but without purchase

tl;dr: i don't really think the lily ending is as hopeful as people make it out to be

hate to break it to you anon, but elster doesn't kill ariane in the promise ending. it's alina who eventually turned into a projection of ariane from beyond

            there is no good ending

i don't think its alina, but yeah there is really no explicit ending, which makes all the theorizing fun

Elster was never in the 512
In fact, no LSTR unit was ever in a Penrose vessel
Because it doesn't make any sense
Why would you put a specialized and rare replika type on a shitty cheap ship that is used in a suicidal, statistically-impossible mission?
It simply makes no sense. Obviously there was another gestalt in there with Ariane. A gestalt she fell in love with, who she spent her final moments with, whose memories were broadcasted through space via bioresonance.
These are the memories that were implanted in the LSTR we play as, via the same mechanism utilized to create replikas. And because of this, she chases someone she never actually met.
This means the "canon" ending is the Memory ending. Even if Elster were to reach the 512, Ariene doesn't recognize her because she genuinely has no idea who she is. And Elster, either out of despair or realization, curls up and dies.
And then it happens again. And again. And again. And everytime it happens reality becomes more and more corrupted because this whole ordeal breaks every single known law of the universe. Until Ariene finally breaks and accepts Elster, simply because she's her only hope of ending her suffering. And this finally closes the loop.
    >but what about the flashbacks? The documents?
That's the thing, they never existed. The real memories would tear down Elster's delusions, so she made up her own.
    >what about the Artifact ending?
The Artifact ending is Elster doubling down and destroying reality even more. To get it, you actively have to break the fourth wall because of all the steps necessary to achieve this ending.
And in the end, Elster gets what she wants. But at what cost?

That's not sexism though. Sexism is discrimination over gender; the Replikas are barely human adjacent and the only man on the entire cast (that isn't referred to in a log or note) doesn't get treated largely differently than any other. There's not even implied sexism in his position; the boss is a woman and his role is even more as a special advisor rather than even a second-in-command. Similarly the Replikas are divided by tasks in a hyper-utilitarian an aesthetic society; other than Falke and Adler (the former being in command and the latter being her advisor and assistant, both roles that benefit from having private chambers) they all have communal dorms with nearly identical amenities, deviating only where specific items or services are better suited to keeping them useful. So you can't claim racial conflict either; at the most there's workplace politics and friction.

He's not directly ostracised, but then again when you turn everyone around him into zombie people that kinda becomes less of a problem and the bigger issue is "can they act human at all or are they all just programmed to behave in this way, including the protag and her lover".

It's like watching robots try to find a human thing, love, even though they clearly don't quite understand it. It's all confusing to them. They manifest things trying to emulate it, only for the audience to realise "they don't know how humans usually find love". So you get this visceral madness and error that is rampant in the setting. The "humans" in it never truly feel human. You empathise and sympathise with the protag a bit, but there's some dissonance there. Knowing what they are, do you truly understand these things that look like humans but are clearly so dis-happened by programming (likely for the sake of mere ideology initially but potentially for something "darker")?

To me the theme is more a struggle between complete trans-humanistic disembodiment and grounding yourself in a human sense, to seek a human way of life and understand what it means to be human and carry it out.
This is why the yuri is really just bait for something far more twisted. It becomes an aspect of a struggle to find ground as human beings and not monsters. It's caught in that.

Reminds me kinda of Bladerunner 2049 and what it did a bit with K.

I gotta admit, it has way more depth than SH. But I still feel like SH has this immediate horror that it does a bit better. Plus it's in 3d, not 2.5d.

If silent hill 3 type monsters and setting was given better treatment with an actual good plot and actual good dialogue, it would hit harder than Sig. SH2 does though already.

The Replika units are essentially a prettied up version of Stalkers from Half Life with some cybernetics and maybe slightly more liberty.
It's like they're sex cult sacrifices to whatever this abomination of a state is doing cult wise. You realise they're all female for some weird fricked up purpose and it's not just mere yuri.

The lesbianism is part of the horror since it's, initially, an emotionaly ostracized military officer sexually exploiting her enslaved subordinate, and then progresses into a mutually damaging samsara where they drag themselves and everyone around them into an eternal cycle of suffering that only deepens the more they try to love.

But it's literally beyond GitS transhumanism. Some of the girls in the games are barely human at all and for a dark purpose. The sex is most likely intentional for dark ritualistic purposes, psuedo-satanic purposes (it's not really satanism, but it sure feels like Diablo's lower levels at times with the vibe).

  122. 4 weeks ago
    Anonymous

I'm guessing there are kids and lgbt types today that didn't know the satanic-gay sex theme was "rather relevant" here.
Because what better way to please the dark demiurge than through ritualistic blood sacrifices of girls, mind fricked and programmed into fricking each other for evil reasons. Reasons we all never truly understand to degree, though it's definitely heavily implied.

I almost forgot that there used to be that aspect of satanic rituals in the past, given the modern "rainbows and hugs" mentality modern lgbt types have now. Our system has spent so much time lying and pretending that was never a thing that we've almost indoctrinated even the lgbt types into believing this.
I miss that aspect of taboo. This game does it well. Very well.

It's more like a triple-A indie game, but it's an actual indie developer so it has some quirks here and there. I played it before some quality of life patches were introduced, so it should be even more smooth sailing from here on.
I think HEALTH is a late addition to this game and the song isn't even included in the actual game. The music is a mix of its own thing and a nice selection of recognizeable (royalty-free) melancholic classical music.
