Kate, assuming she survived her suicide attempt, is out of town in the hospital and not present for the Storm. Not really important but you can also get confirmation that Brooke and the fat Mexican kid leave town before the Storm hits.
As for the confirmed deaths, you see during one of the timelines you alter that all of those people are present in the Storm's path, and without Max's assistance they die. So in a timeline where she never goes there and escapes with Chloe it can be assumed they don't make it, although I guess not with 100% certainty. That shitty comic book that follows the Bae ending confirmed that Alyssa survives the Storm despite her death being VERY blatant.
It allows you to defy the soulless utilitarianism of modern moralists and declare that one life that's important to you is as valuable or moreso than a multitude of other lives, and you are not evil for choosing so.
The game asks you to use a person's life as a bargaining chip to preserve others', which is morally unconscionable. No matter the reasons that the situation has led to this, it's unacceptable to take her life in an attempt to prevent or "undo" it despite the game shooting itself in the foot by very clearly showing you the Storm was never Max's fault, and you can't even be certain killing Chloe actually stops the Storm from ever returning.

It's not about saving her, it's about killing her. Whatever numbers may be involved, it's wrong to demand a single innocent person die for the safety of others. She's alive and in front of you at the moment of that decision; whatever came before, it's not right to go back and cause her death.
There's a million and one other reasons why choosing Chloe is the better choice in my opinion, both narratively and thematically, but if you're going to argue in a moral sense that's the core of it. Also a logical argument that the game fails to properly justify how or why Chloe's living or dying would spark the Storm when there's overwhelming evidence it is coming regardless of her circumstances, and even proof that her death DOESN'T stop the Storm on more than one occasion.

I'm not a burger. The Swedish empire was on the downturn when other powers started looking into Africa and beyond. They had some minor success there but nothing long lasting. If you need a more direct example Finland was literally owned by Swedes and then Russians for centuries and they turned their poor shithole into a country that's top of the world in many metrics and it took less than 100 years. People complain about it being social justicey, which is a pretty weird thing to complain about since the first game was already like that. The difference is this one came out after 2016 which messed up American political discourse worse than the towers falling.
It's actually pretty great if you're a fan of the first, but it doesn't have the same light-hearted adventure tone, instead going all in on the darkness of the situation. What I will admit is kind of unrealistic is that there are so many characters who are stereotypical racists or extremists. There are definitely real people like those characters in America, but the boys must have some real bad luck to happen to run into as many as they do.
The problem is they want to dip into the darkness, but the darkness they choose is outright fricking cartoonish. The first game tapped into the pathos of being a teenager on the cusp of adulthood and being stuck in this halfway-state where everything's changing and you're choosing what to hold onto. The second game took a step too far away from that personal attachment and tried to be a political diatribe at the same time as it tried to show the complicated codependency of brotherhood in a society that exploits them. As stupid as it sounds to say out loud, hear me out: Life is Strange 2 basically tried to be Fullmetal Alchemist and failed.
Never seen Fullmetal Alchemist but you've made the most compelling argument against LiS2 I've ever seen, as most of them boil down to muh Wall. I think a lot of my enjoyment came from being surprised at how competent it was as a game considering I pushed it off for a few years after loving the original because people said it was irredeemably bad. It definitely wasn't as strong as the first, but I still thought it scratched the same itch.
Never forget what they took from you. I got more invested in this kid's shitty dysfunctional home life in 30 minutes than I ever did in Sean and Daniel's plight over its entire run time.

Steph is hard to explain, once you've gotten used to her she's perfect but she's definitely got some oddness going on in still frames/low-quality clips.

I really wish someone would give her HD hair. I'm not asking for actual modeled strands, but even OW blender models had higher resolution hairs specifically edited to look better than the in-game version. Kate, assuming she survived her suicide attempt, is out of town in the hospital and not present for the Storm. Not really important but you can also get confirmation that Brooke and the fat Mexican kid leave town before the Storm hits.
As for the confirmed deaths, you see during one of the timelines you alter that all of those people are present in the Storm's path, and without Max's assistance they die. So in a timeline where she never goes there and escapes with Chloe it can be assumed they don't make it, although I guess not with 100% certainty. That shitty comic book that follows the Bae ending confirmed that Alyssa survives the Storm despite her death being VERY blatant.

LiS 1 is nice because it's focused on a small town and the people who live there, and the mysteries you can uncover.
LiS 2 you move from place to place constantly, meaning you're both leaving locations and character behind. It's baffling why they took the wonderful setup from 1 and decided to just ignore what worked well when they made 2. Instead they seemed to focus on making the choices more extreme, in the most dumb 90's way. Most episodes follow this formula:

People complain about it being social justicey, which is a pretty weird thing to complain about since the first game was already like that. The difference is this one came out after 2016 which messed up American political discourse worse than the towers falling.
It's actually pretty great if you're a fan of the first, but it doesn't have the same light-hearted adventure tone, instead going all in on the darkness of the situation. What I will admit is kind of unrealistic is that there are so many characters who are stereotypical racists or extremists. There are definitely real people like those characters in America, but the boys must have some real bad luck to happen to run into as many as they do.
The problem is they want to dip into the darkness, but the darkness they choose is outright fricking cartoonish. The first game tapped into the pathos of being a teenager on the cusp of adulthood and being stuck in this halfway-state where everything's changing and you're choosing what to hold onto. The second game took a step too far away from that personal attachment and tried to be a political diatribe at the same time as it tried to show the complicated codependency of brotherhood in a society that exploits them. As stupid as it sounds to say out loud, hear me out: Life is Strange 2 basically tried to be Fullmetal Alchemist and failed.
Never seen Fullmetal Alchemist but you've made the most compelling argument against LiS2 I've ever seen, as most of them boil down to muh Wall. I think a lot of my enjoyment came from being surprised at how competent it was as a game considering I pushed it off for a few years after loving the original because people said it was irredeemably bad. It definitely wasn't as strong as the first, but I still thought it scratched the same itch.
Never forget what they took from you. I got more invested in this kid's shitty dysfunctional home life in 30 minutes than I ever did in Sean and Daniel's plight over its entire run time.

Yes, if you're not paying more than $20 for it it's worth a shot. Just be warned its worth is in a comfy game to while away an afternoon with interesting characters, NOT as an engaging video game. Don't bother if you're not the kind of person that will gladly scour every corner of a map to click on absolutely everything; if you are it's definitely worth the time, otherwise you're setting yourself up for disappointment.

Yeah the whole thing takes place in a little Colorado mining town. You don't get to explore quite as much of it as you'd like but you get a fair bit to do there. The game's biggest flaws are pacing and the lack of long-term content that implies, but what's there is really enjoyable.
Guess I'll give it a go then. And tbh I didn't think we got to explore that much of Arcadia Bay in the first game so I'm not that bothered.
