They still play great though. MGS1 is probably one of the best aged PS1 games in existence. 2 and 3 have barely aged at all. The frick are you b***hing about?
Trying to grab frickers from behind was a pain in 1 as the range is very small and bumping into them alerts them, that's something that could use fixing. And that Sniper Wolf boss fight, that shit is pure cancer. Other than that it's fine.
Because MGS1 is emulated. >muh source code
They don't have it. Even the guys who did the PC port had to reverse engineer it. That's why audio was in such a bad state. And it was also 30 fps.
What’s the benefit of playing this over an emulator? >correct button prompts
You can mod it in >b-but the art and other extras
You can download the pdf and mp3s with a simple search
If someone can name 2 things this collection has over emulation please enlighten me
I guess a control scheme that doesn't rely on pressure sensitive buttons. Sure, you can kinda just get around it on PCSX2 by using your triggers instead of the face buttons but that shit just feels weird and messes up other controls outside of combat.
that you're a lazy bastard and you want to brag about achievements
not much else I can think of besides computer is shit

u fricked up son the cheat code is to bind the pressure modifier to your right trigger
Nevermind the frame rate, why the resolution cap on pc?
It makes no sense.
It just adds an extra step of editing an ini file and doesn't effect game logic unlike how higher fps possibly could, why not unrestrict it.
while 1080poors are still the most common, 1440p is runner up
4K TVs have also been the default if you've bought a new one in the last several years
UHD BD and 4K output consoles launched 7 years ago
It's a bare minimum port of the HD collections, what did you expect? Some graphical effects are probably going to behave weirdly on higher resolutions (happens a lot when you up the internal res on PS2 emulators) so they just decided to cap it at that one and said frick it, not worth the effort.
Lots of old games tied game mechanics to framerate, I'm guessing mgs1 is the same. If you upped it to 60fps you might double the firerate of weapons or break a lot of stuff.
so what happens if you playing this game on a display higher than 1080? do you get a huge black borders or do i have go into gpu drivers and turn on some sort of upscale shit?
you need to start playing more japanese games and older games in general then
there's plenty of games with limited resolution choices that you cannot fix if you tried
in fact this is not even the first metal gear game to do this
MGR did the same
Same thing if you play any other game at a res lower than your screen. In windowed/borderless the OS will stretch it, in exclusive fullscreen your screen will stretch it.
The controls for MGS 1-3 haven’t aged well, that’s the biggest problem. Can you crouch walk now? Is shooting still a humongous pain in the ass?
The shooting in MGS2 and 3 were fine, gay.
Man I played MGS2 on a PC on a keyboard because the game's controller support was fricked.
Not being able to move and aim was intentional gay. To preserve the need for sneaking and not make the game an fps.
The thing is the game's balanced around those controls.
Introducing crouch in the games would make them way too easy.

someone should tell nip developers to stop tying framerate to game speed, because most of them are still doing it to this day.
Because MGS1 is emulated.

Normal digital controls. Next
The 360 port, which can be emulated, already has that.
it is literally just one button to rebind you stupid fricking homosexual
Achievements for those that care

I get to show my friends that I'm a hard core Kojimahead and Metal Gear Solid fan by playing it for the first time and having the achievements.

Damn, how lazy is this collection going to be? lmao
MGS1 was never above 30 FPS.
Works on my machine™
Imagine buying emulated versions of old games you can just emulate yourself
You pay pigs are disgusting
>flawed emulation
>he's not a freemcboot chad
Zoom zoom
Original MGS1 on PS1 runs at 30 FPS. MGS2 on PS2 runs at 60.
>We need the PS1 game at 60fps
moron
Nevermind the frame rate, why the resolution cap on pc?
It makes no sense.

>switch cant play a PS2 game at 60fps
It can't even play a PS1 game at 1080p.
That's in handheld mode moron there's only a 720p screen, it's 1080 when docked
Huh yeah what the frick that's weird, it definitely should be able to
im curious what theyll be doing for mgs 2 and 3, esp 3 with the pressure sensitive face buttons affecting cqc and automatic weapon fire
>what are they doing
are we going to pretend the Xbox 360 version didn't exist?
i never played it, how did it go for that?
pretty much identical to the PS2 except for aiming and shooting
no one's complaining about 1080p max on all platforms?
>he doesn't know
they're 720p upscaled to 1080p (except for MGS1, which is 240p upscaled to 1080p)
90% of people do not have a 4k monitor to play on. 4k is, and will continue to be a meme.

4K TVs have also been the default if you've bought a new one in the last several years

And of ppl using 4k monitors most are using some meme FSR or DLSS so playing at 1080p anyway

you play old games with with a black border across the entire screen?
most old games i play have fan patches or ini edits that run the game at whatver res i need. i have never played a game that's hard limited to 1080.
you need to start playing more japanese games and older games in general then

i used mgroverride for that. awesome game.

I have a 4090 and 13900k. You telling me I’m only allowed to play 2 and 3 at 60fps 1080p?
It might be that weird jap thing where engine speed is tied to FR so raising the FR speeds up the game.
Works on my PS3 why buy this trash?
They should sell MG to Capcom and have the re2 remake team do a remake
If 30 fps is good enough for Zelda it is good enough for Metal Gear
