I'm way too shy and autistic to talk or type to anyone, and if god forbid someone talks to me I start sweating profusely, heart beats fast, get super anxious. Can't think straight. I play them anyway though cus it's fun leveling and collecting stuff over a long period of time while having real people in the background.
You're so cool and anti-social, that's why you willingly came to a website designed to communicate with other people. Seriously, why don't bitter edgelord homosexuals like yourself just assassin's creed dive out of a 3 story window and off yourself already.

Why would I fricking care about anyone going to my funeral? I'd be dead. Do you base the worth and importance of your existence on the notion of how many people will get sad after you die or something?
People like this are usually seen as shitters and gay. If you aren't le mysterious "only types one word per message" type, you are automatically labelled as cringe.

i've had good, bad, and mid parties.
it's simply luck of the draw
仕方がない
>joins your party >"Greetings." >excellent tank >sensibly chuckles at your jokes >"I fear the time has come for me to depart. Farewell." >never seen again
paladin-kun.....
My experience is the exact opposite. I didn't use to care about anything while playing videogames and even shit talked players (all in good fun) in a few games and just played the games.
Now I'm 35 and I have crippling social anxiety in video games (and in real life too, though I can function a lot better irl), stressing profusely over how others view my performance and how they will hate me unless I bring the absolute best that my class is capable of bringing. Due to this, I simply don't bother doing group content because it makes me feel physically ill.
I used to have severe social anxiety and getting a job helped me a lot, now it's pretty much gone but I became a bitter motherfricker
I don't know which one is worse to be honest...
i tried to be friendly as a kid but everyone either ignored me despite rarely speaking or i'd just feel out of place, like i was just following people who didn't care about my existence out of obligation and i was just wasting my time. even in games i feel like this, so i haven't played online shit in like 18 years.
Not communicating in MMOs is cringe but THIS is fricking worse
If you're gonna talk make jokes and talk about anime and vidya and shit I don't want to be asked where I work how's my 401k going and what my SSN is
I don't know, I was much more social and open when I was a kid, but after high school it went downhill really fast, it was like I never matured socially and all my peers outgrew me in a way, it's hard to describe. When I was around 18 I would hang out with my cousin and his friends that were like 14 or 15 at the time because we would go out and do fun stuff and play video games, things I loved to do but that none of my peers wanted to do anymore. I'm 30 now and have no friends because no matter how hard I try I cant get along with anyone my age or even relate to them
I feel the same as you. I'm in my mid 30s as well but it feels like I never matured past the age of 15. Every single time I tried to engage with my peers it felt like we were worlds apart. I don't speak to anyone anymore outside my aging immediate family. It's going to be lonely but I have no one to blame but myself.

That's just basic opsec, anon. Have one identity for videogames, have one identity for banking and billing and have one identity for throwaway irrelevant shit. Never let them overlap, use separate emails and browsers for each.

Hi s3xm4sterxd, Your level 60 character has been banned from the game for breaking some of our community's rules:
- Being transphobic.
World of Warcraft, last I checked?
Any MMO played by 20+ white dudes probably has at least 10% of a userbase like this.
Probably more likely if you put [Trans Ally] or some stupid shit in your name.
I overcame my fear of social interactions only to realize that I'm boring. I rarely have anything interesting to tell and maintaning a conversation for 5 minutes is extremely difficult. Maybe some people are just meant to be alone.
who isn't boring. boring people pretend they re nort boring just by telling stories of stuff they lived in the past or repeating jokes they spend their life repeating everywhere they go whcih they got from someone else. absolute bots.
Fricking this, most people's idea of conversation is just talking about things that happened to them in the past or what is currently happening.
Don't care if people view me as an outcast loner I have no interest in socialising with the average normie.
Generally you need to get through that initial stage.
Early on talking to someone always sucks, but if you keep going to the point conversation becomes comfortable and natural it is genuinely one of the most enjoyable things on earth.
If it never does than clearly that person is not worth talking too and you should find someone else else who you can connect with.
> most people's idea of conversation is just talking about things that happened to them in the past or what is currently happening.
like you're doing right now? what fricking else are you supposed to talk about? do you expect people to start ERPing with you in person or something?
being boring is not the worst thing you can be, but I don't quite get it - don't you have any interests? You don't even have to have lived a crazy life yourself - you can discuss things you have read about or are interested in yourself.
My brother is incredible at keeping a conversation going, he just talks with a lot of energy and passion about the topic at hand or what's going through his head.
whenever i do get comfortable enough to talk i always end up saying something stupid and everyone :skull:'s me so i end up leaving and maybe deleting my account
well, I'm operating under the assumptions that I'm a human being interacting with another human being, so the inconsistencies with the regular social behavior the human animal is used to just tends to trip me up 🙂
I'm 28 anon, and a phone call is a lot different imo. I have no problems with phone calls because I at least know the person on the other end of the line isn't a completely dysfunctional human being. I've had to listen to enough genuinely insane and unwell people in video games over the course of my life that I would really just prefer to avoid voice chat with most strangers.
Reasons why I don't socialize with anyone on multiplayer games >Firsts things first, I tend to suck at any type of video game, I can get to average status at best. Most people have zero tolerance for failure, and I fail a lot. Meaning I will probably get constantly trash talked for sucking and I'm too autistic to stand my ground and trash talk back. >The person very probably doesn't share most of my personal tastes in things, meaning I will literally not have anything to talk to the individual at all making the atmosphere extremely awkward. >The person might be one of those that constantly tells you what to do and if you don't listen he goes nuclear >I like to take my time while playing, exploring the map, doing stuff, not rushing anything or competing. Most people play like speed runners like their lives depend on it. So I just get left behind all the time while they talk down to me. >90% of my experience with people online has been just that... people telling me I'm trash and that I should kill myself.
I still like the feeling of playing a game with people in it. But making an actual online friend one day is nothing but a fantasy.
Some random homosexual giving me a (You) on this weebsite is the closest thing to a internet friend I ever had.
I'll give you a (You) >I like to take my time while playing, exploring the map, doing stuff, not rushing anything or competing. Most people play like speed runners like their lives depend on it. So I just get left behind all the time while they talk down to me.
I'm like that too although I almost don't play vidya anymore
I used to play MMOs silently because I prefer perpetual open worlds to playthroughs. Now I just try to gind good sim sandbox games instead, like Starsector, because I can't stand the idea of having to walk on eggshells lest I get my money stolen.
I would but most mmos requires ungodly amounts of grinding and walking. I'm just too tired most of the time.
Am I the only one who doesn't care anything about the MMO aspect at all? I'd love to just avoid anything social at all. >then why ar-
because mmorpgs receive free updates and are long running so it's "worth" investing my time into.
LITERALLY me
every mmo I played was seeing how far I could get solo/without interacting with other people
i have the opposite problem, i love talking to people in games and can form relationships with almost anyone that talks back and is willing to have a prolonged conversation, and MMO players inevitably and almost without exception fall in love with me and try to get me on discord and cyber with me and stuff. so i have to just significantly control my urge to talk to people to stop this from happening. it was a lot more fun when I was a kid and you could just be friends in the game and that was it
I was like this too for a long time while playing MMOs. I never got into the social aspects of the games and I regret missing out on all the fun I could've had when MMOs were still comfy. Its how it is sometimes.
>I start sweating profusely, heart beats fast, get super anxious.
fricking same my heart starts racing so fast sometimes i sometimes feel like i will blackout
It's all millenials that are like this, they even prove it ITT, you fricking moron.
Soilennials are the biggest manchild losers ever who pretend to have PTSD from high school and have literal panic attacks when someone in a fricking video game talks to them. Yet at the same time they think they're in a position to give heckin' "Life Advice" to zoomers. Unbelievable.

forums are great. Not for discussion mind you, but when you want to look up something about a game from 8 years ago and every question you can think of was already asked and answered on an easily google searchable forum, that's just fantastic.
Meanwhile thanks to discord any resources for modern games will be lost to the ether in a decade from now.

sure that can happen, but it'll happen way faster and more frequently with discord because there's no referencibility to begin with. Instead of "search my question on google" it's "find the discord server invite on google, then log into the discord, hope they don't have some channel you have to introduce yourself in before you can post in other channels, and then ask your question and wait for one of the 2 people who still play this game to decide if they think your question is worth answering".

This is the most important point that very few people make, most of the Discord critique is just emotionally asshurt morons that were ousted from their favorite clique and the practical considerations of how the ease of use and accessibility of Discord killing forums made sure that everything that goes out into the internet now has an expiration date. All of the guides, mods, all the information and tutorials for various things, useful or useless, will be gone very quickly unless someone determined and capable goes out of his way to archive them and then share them with the rest of us in a more permanent manner.

These are both pretty good opinoins. Using forums were fricking insufferable to resulted in popularity contest circlejerks that reward the village homosexual for sticking his nose in every single conversation possible. It was like the worst of /vg/ but as an ongoing website. But alot of times forums WERE good for archive purposes. Discords fricking suck at times especially when people force you to go into one for a specific download or guide. Sometimes you can't even filter for a specific phrase before of off-topic bullshit people flooded the chat with. I got back into FF11 during the pandemic and even though some info was outdated, forum posts from 8 years ago were extremely helpful at times. Even though the social aspect of forums fricking sucked, the way you could easily find answers was the benefit we're really going to lose out on.
athiesm killed them actually. have you ever been in a discord? theyre void of any philosophy and all it did was efficiently gather athiests from everywhere without discord they would still be scattered
stop trying to act like an oldgay, as if before discord there werent any programs people used to do the exact same shit, you arent fooling anyone Black person
Before discord you still had people on teamspeak, skype group calls, even on steam group chat. So grouping outside of a game still existed, best and most damaging example of this is the Xbox live party chat, that basically killed proximity chat in games when the NXE update dropped and that was already more than 10 years ago.
Discord pretty much destroyed MMOs. It was nice while it lasted
it's why i don't play anymore. not even private servers. all discord robots who don't give a frick about you, just the results of their character and power growth. MMOs are a dead concept and will never change. >muh virutal reality!!! muh sao!!!!
VR won't do shit, just play a fricking single player game you'll have 50x more fun
Antisocial minmax spergs have thoroughly killed the genre. They make all versions of current WoW intolerable to play with parse and gearscore obsession. Nobody is there to actually have fun
I usually play for the cool environments, the atmosphere, stories and the lore. I had a blast on ESO and SWTOR back then. Never talked to anyone nor tried any raids or bosses or any lame gay bullshit like that.
>play MMO >join normie guild >never talk to anyone >stop getting invited to raids
Guess it didn't help that I didn't have the best dps to make up for it
its 2024 you dont need to talk to other players in mmos to play with them anymore so why bother? genres fricked beyond belief im not gonna try and save it on my own.
I did that in Spiral Knights and Helldivers. Helldivers further accomodates this by giving everyone capes that sway behind them as they spin, even has an achievement for spinning several dozen times in a row without interruption.
Last time I actually played an mmo I made some
internet friends who I still play games from time to time. You guys must admit youre unlikable, its okay
Came here to post something similar. The average Ganker troon truly is incapable of anything remotely socialy acceptable, even in social situations with very low stakes.
Back in the days of dark age of camelot and warhammer online the people weren't as moronic. Then twitch happened and since a lot of mmo players are terminally online morons who have a stream 24/7 on their second screen they started talking like absolute morons adding kappa pogchamp poggers kreygasm etc etc everywhere in their sentences even if the game didn't have any emote system for the chat.
Then on top of that, trannies became more and more mainstream.
The only way to make sure your guild is good is to be the guildleader yourself and remove all the cancer but that's a lot of work and you can't do that if you have a day job.
I'm a super slow typer, so getting into extended conversations while doing content is impossible for me. If I were to set up a speech to text or a some kind of easy to use autocorrect/quick word select thing in game that would probably work for me, but otherwise no I'm dead silent in the middle of things.
Like the other anons, I agree that you should learn how to type. However, I can type well over a hundred words/minute and still can't type in chat and play at the same time. Honestly, I don't know how people do it.
people get impressed by basic b***h 60 wpm
Like I spend 0 time on improving my typing other than casually using the computer
honestly anyone who types slower than 50 wpm should get help because either they don't have fingers or just are mentally incapable of beating me who uses only like 4 fingers on each hand for typing using only the space bar on one thumb
I can honestly see myself doing this (1-60 I guess since I'm playing classic era), but I do talk to strangers and do group quests with random people all the time. If a random whispers me I won't ignore them. I chose to play as a paladin specifically because it would give me reasons to save people's asses and shoot the shit with them.
>decide to be social >join a guild >they stay quiet and just hang out all day in groomerscord >join against my better judgement >all they can talk about is how drunk they are, their favorite alcohol drinks, and how miserable their work-life is >go back to being an antisocial mute
>join any sort of group >have been a wage slave now for 10 years straight >can't ever play with them as it seems none of them even have a job so they all do shit at ass-backwards times
>play mmo >everyone is a "femboy", furry , libtard, snowflake, homosexual, troony etc
Yeah, i don't socialize with these homosexuals, everyone i ever cliqued up with in those games were the normies that are becoming less and less common.
Frick internet weirdos, burn em all.
I remember when the internet had cool people that werent complete insufferable homosexuals.
Go back to /vg/ to your waifu/husbando circlejerking homosexualry you Black person.
seem like i 100% struck a nerve, you're one of the types i mentioned fosho.
Same but because I don't care about most people I play with. I don't know you, I know nothing about how you look, where you're from or what you do irl and I have no motivation to become friends with anyone or have some chitchat. In that regard I miss playing as a kid because you were not that judgemental about everyone. Making "online friends" pass a certain age sounds surreal to me.
I will never understand this mentality. Why do you need to know what they look like or what they do IRL to play some fricking vidya?
Do you think this creates some sort of "loyalty", as if your RL friends won't drift away when your wageslave schedules start interfering with activities or when they inevitably find new friend circles whose schedules don't?
I don't have a problem talking with other players, using a mic or messing around and shitposting together, it's just the type of player that is clearly trying to make friends in an online game that repels me. That's the type of player that I ignore
Works on my machine. I still talk regularly to a group of people I met playing WoW despite none of us playing that game in over two decades and they've stuck around for longer than IRL friends.
I was going to say "your loss bro" but I remembered this is probably an experience exclusive to the time before normies invaded the internet, and now forever lost.
I've been playing on a fresh Warframe account for 5 months and have not added anyone as a friend or joined a guild yet. Barely had any convos in chat apart from like "mark any argons pls" "sure mate". Back when I played between 2017-2019 I had a full active friends list, an active guild and had many memorable encounters in public games. Did COVID just fry everyone's brains or something?
>playing an MMO together with my wife(female) >we want to join a guild to do group content easier >"discord is required!" >okay, even though neither me or her don't like it >the guild constantly talks about real life shit >their work, their chores, etc. >some gays are straight out blogging all day on discord, rarely actually play the game >we leave the guild after a week or so >later on we see the guild recruiting in the global game chat >"guild X is recruiting, no antisocial people!"
We just want to do fricking dungeons man, we wanted to raid, we only wanted to DO CONTENT
We don't give a shit about your everyday life and we don't care how hard your day at work was, we're not your besties
Why can't people just play video games together
I did that in Spiral Knights and Helldivers. Helldivers further accomodates this by giving everyone capes that sway behind them as they spin, even has an achievement for spinning several dozen times in a row without interruption.
Man I was semi hyped for helldivers 2 but after the latest trailers + drms + cash shop reveal it's not looking so hot.
This specific case was in Blade and Soul, but we played most of the korean MMOs together.
Our best MMO experience was actually on SEA Dragon Nest server, where the indos were super friendly and they pretty much only talked about the game
BnS is one of the cases where it's not just the devs who have destroyed the game, but the community also did it themselves
It's actually insane how spiteful, unfriendly and tryhard the BnS community is. New players are completely shunned, they're not allowed ot experience new content. Even in the LFG lobby, people will join, see that someone is a newer player and immediately leave. If they don't finish this one dungeons in less than 3 minutes then they will shit and piss themselves and rage out in the chat. The elitism in this game is like no other, and I firmly believe everyone who plays it is that way because they actually hate themselves for still playing this piece of shit game.
I liked Helldivers for having a top-down perspective. Third person behind the back shit is boring. I also heard they're ditching vehicles altogether so I'm not even bothering giving that gobshite a chance.
the landscape is too changed
Discord is essentually an inner circle people who have been possibly bullied IRL to have powertrip. They post their shitty memes and captions, there is no meaningful conversation whatsoever.
MMOs just don't work anymore, with the current world, as there are an archaic design for different people. We changed way too much since the early 2000's
>Used to be quite social in MMOs, made a bunch of friends >Shit happened irl, took a break from the game and somehow my social skills went to shit >Fix my life, mostly, and decide to return to the game >Most of my old friends have stopped playing since my break, those that remain are much less active >Struggle to make new friends even though the groups I joined were/are full of great guys
Man, why can't I just break the ice with my current group? I don't get what's holding me back.
Its very hard to open up to new people, especially now. Friendships kind of just happen, if one person has to force it then its not gonna work out. That said 90% of these friendships are shallow as frick, so its not like you miss out something big. The modern day friendships are just a weak imitation of the actual thing.
I think it's from watching too many YouTube videos. They have convinced themselves into thinking that venting about your personal life is actually socializing online. Sad state of affairs.
>Say something >Someone responds in Portuguese
I remember when dead F2P MMOs were the domain of the eternal BR, now I'm paying for the privilege of interacting with these subhumans.
Covid genuinely killed my social skills and I still haven't recovered. Part of that is me being a b***h, but I could hold conversations with people easily in person or online before and all the time I spent away from MMOs and other people in general just rotted the speech center of my brain. If I didn't have real life friends to play vidya with, I probably would have stopped playing multiplayer games alltogether.
this makes me feel slightly better about beign a schizo that talks to himself. maybe im just keeping the connections alive afterall lel. i think humans are just not made to not work at all or not talk to people, we need an amount on the regular a bit like dogs need to walk outside or they start breaking shit inside
I'm gradually getting better at irl socialising but something about talking on a microphone just kills me. It feels so awkward to laugh when on push-to-talk but there's no way I'm turning it off and annoying people with my breath. I get what you're saying totally, I barely play multiplayer vidya these days but I keep crawling back to this MMO.

Yeah, good points. The excitement of socialising online has kind of died and no one bothers with getting to know me better, so putting in the effort myself feels like a waste I guess. It just feels shit when people are bantering on TS and I want to join in but can't get my mouth working. I miss my old mates, we did much less interesting stuff than what I'm doing now but I had more fun with them anyway.

Yes. A Spanish piece of shit reported me, probably a guy who got mad I killed him. I'd uninstall the game if only my irl friends didn't keep asking me to play it because they have fricking toasters they refuse to upgrade despite not being poor so they can only play f2p shit or indie games.
>Play MMO >Doing content >People ask questions >Have to stop playing so I can type the answer >Keeps happening
Mutha fricker we're doing some content together in a PUG. I want to actually play.
I should specify >ask questions not related to the content we're doing
If you ever need to know how to do something, then sure, that's a reasonable thing to ask during the content. But if you want to know what shade of purple I'm wearing, that can wait.
I used to talk easily as a kid, but now I just don't bother. And it doesn't seem like anyone bothers either. You just have the same autists speaking on the world chat over and over again.
Not him and I know you're just doing a bit, but since we're on this topic - I got a ban in GW2 for calling myself a c**t and telling someone to go frick herself.
I'm a top level player so I make shitters seethe by being obnoxious and overly bubbly/friendly in groups. They can't stop me because I'm hard carrying them 95% of the time and most mmo players are betas and will toe the line when an actual player is in the group. I will always act like a clown and they have to just sit there and seethe in silence. It's such a great feeling
>napoleonic wars is dead
I haven't joined any kind of gaming group since. I tried getting into Foxhole, but couldn't make it work with my moronic schedule. Are there any good organized multiplayer games at the moment?
thats bullshit i m a good guy and people can tell, because of it a guy lent me his wow vanilla account and i could play his class which was cool af, then i could do stuff like bait low lvl at the starting zone with a pvp tagged low lvl and my elf warrior standing instealth and gank these low lvl scrubs on a pve server, we also rolled on another pvp server and did some other shit. good people do good shit to each other, benefits you couldnt even imagine. but you re not part of it we re big boys and we can tell snakes so get rekt
>GOD I HATE NORMAL gayS AND ROASTIES, dicky AND 2D FOREVER >WTF, LME IN YOOUR GUILD NOMRALBlack person? >DISCORD!?!?!? Gaming has died, im leplaced....
I still don’t get why people say discord killed gaming like we had mumble, xfire, teamspeak, vent, and alot of other programs and gaming is pretty much the same
>Gankernies are mad they can't interact with normalgays or that normalgays on their favorite MMO's are literal gays down to their anime avatar >kvetch on here
and repeat
You don't need MMOs with Discord, you can just have everyone play the latest FOTM together for the same experience (minus exploitative merchant economies)
>play squad based game >jump into a squad of randos >everyone is communicative and skilled >have a grand time >match ends >never ever play with any of them every again
The only thing that comes close is private servers for old games and those are all rife with their own problems. While FFXIV has production quality the end product is not what I'd consider a good MMORPG - it'd be better as a game along the lines of Granblue ReLink. Still, it has a free trial.
Upcoming ones >Blue Protocol
all reports say it's shit. Amazon is doing loc so it'll be censored shit >Arche Age 2
The first 4 weeks of Arche Age were the most fun I've ever had in an MMORPG so I will definitely check this out but I do not have high hopes. It's Korean though so that has its own problems. >Throne and Liberty
has potential but it's korean >Ashes of Creation
I'll believe it when I see it >Pantheon
as dead as brad mcquaid >others
lmao
There was also that Chrono Odyssey MMO with soulslike combat which looked interesting.
Quinfall might be okay, as it's made neither by americans nor koreans
>try making conversation with someone from /xivg/ and don't act like a total sperg >They literally start throwing themselves at me asking if I wanna erp >Suddenly have someone I don't know whispering me passive aggressive angry things >See in the thread that same random person who whispered me is having a total melty
I really wish this was a joke
the people who constantly post their dudes in the pseudo-generals on this board seem insane enough as is. I've only read one edition of /xivg/ and saw more than enough. the people who play xiv and post about it often on this website are fricked in the head
the in-game leveling experience for a new player is insanely boring and provides almost no opportunities to JUST DO SHIT with other people beyond fates and MSQ dungeons, and nobody fricken talks EVER
game is moronic

I once expected the worst and joined a Terraria Ganker server and it was pretty chill and a good experience outside of one moron that came in late and kept trying to blow up the base until he got banned and the server owner just rolled it back slightly. Overall the decent experience there me into thinking that a steam friend thread wouldn't so bad. When you see what the people dwelling those threads are like and what their interests are you realize they're absolute bottom of the barrel humans. I seriously think that by now if someone isn't already in a clique or IRL friend group they end up on Ganker or discord as the person equivilent to the "trash loot" you'd get and auto-discard in a gacha game. Made me 5x more cautious when interacting with people online since.
>mmo launches >start enjoying it >start doing random dungeons or grinding parties >chatting with people having fun >the higher level I got the less talkative people became >eventually nobody would ever say anything >eventually get bored and quit
>do everything I can skill wise >have all my enchants and gems and blah blah >top 3 dps on the meter >check the logs afterwards >my parse is like a fricking 22 >still get scrutinized by pugs if not outright kicked
I wish I knew what was going on here, guess I'm just bad at the game and everyone below me on the meters is even worse.
I don't use weak auras, maybe that's it...
it was rogue during first two phases of wotlk classic.
I was just raiding with a casual guild so it didn't matter too much but being laughed out of a normal mode pug was humiliating when I know all the fights and can contribute sufficient damage. hate this homosexual community.
I don't even raid anymore. don't even play the game anymore (I got into GW1 and singleplayer rpgs instead)
troll combat rogue, I tried my best with rotation.
can't remember the specifics but it was keep up slice and dice, keep up rupture, and sunder armor if none of the warriors are. if the warriors are sundering, then you can eviscerate.
I'll acknowledge I'm not a very skilled player

you should never be exposing armor and rupture is only something you do when you have to "waste" combo points (changing target or something)

thanks so much!! I will keep that in mind, but next time my schedule allows for raiding probably won't be until Cata when the classes get reworked lmaoo. hope my old guild is still around by then..

well sod is most likely going to change the lategame rotation kind of a lot but even then you'll still never be using expose armor

the other thing was WotLK combat rogue was very focused on playing with cooldowns like blade flurry and the shadow dance one. also the troll racial.
it's tough knowing whether you want to blow
them all at once or one by one for the sustain
there's a lot of room for errror there especially when the shadow dance one can get you killed during a fair amount of boss fights

that comes with learning the raid
always blade flurry when you adrenaline etc

Huh? You only bring combat rogues to expose, warriors sunder if there are 3 or more (doesnt happen until ICC). This is just cope. Either he's doing the rotation wrong (easy to fix just look at casts on a log of a good rogue), his raid is very shit, or he's missing buffs. Parsing isn't that hard to figure out, especially if your goal is any 99. Oh, and pad with cleave cooldown that's pretty much how rogue does ANY damage lmao.

>waste all your combo points and energy on expose armor that's how you parse bro
lmao at your life
>used to parse 95+ all the time in heavensward >few years pass >slowly stop caring >endwalker >don't give a frick at all anymore >end up being that guy who's "mid" in dungeons
feels good tbh, no more stressing out about this garbage community and garbage game
>play MMO >expect friendly people with reasonable amount of RP >get no fun allowed tryhards treating the game like a job or the exact opposite - zoomers and dudebros spouting unfunny memes and random dumb shit
needless to say I do not play MMOs anymore
Catheryby... they used to call it the playground of the world. People came from miles around to fish lobbies, ask fishing levels, and shoot the breeze arguing about the most inane things
they dont talk anymore on the beaches. They dont talk on the beaches anymore...
I try to talk to people on ff14 but everyone seems to be in some sort of clique, it's weird you say something like hey cool armor or whatever, and immediately one of their friends runs over and starts emoting and talking to them and I get ignored, it's like high school.
Why the frick do people have social anxiety in video games? I'm fed up of having people sitting in voice chat not saying anything.
Get a voice changer or something if you're that concerned, just fricking speak.
>talk so much that I got in trouble for it even though most people laughed at my jokes >didn't call me out by name but there was a officer discussion about too many people talking who aren't the raid leader making the raid take longer
damn...
>in a BFD raid with only one other c**t that would talk >explaining boss fights to people >any time we started joking or talking about something not related to the raid ESL raid clear starts spamming "clear comms" in raid warnings
God I fricking hate MMOs
i'm ESL third worlder and I don't like my stupid accent because someone will invariably notice it and will demand that i talk about my country and i hate it
it's really a pity that this is such an easy thing for a socially moronic person to ask someone once they notice they're foreign. I try to never bring it up first because who cares about me being an EOP from the US, especially if the dude is already going out of his way to speak fluent English
>be european playing on eu server >literally everyone speaks with a weird accent >when they join, actual english people are getting ridiculed for their english accent
voice chat with strangers is honestly a filter for me. I at least avoid games where the average player expects to be in a voice chat with the majority of other players out of courtesy, because reading posts like yours bums me out.
I prefer text chat since I look at video games as a way to unwind and just find being in a group phone call with several people I just met to be a little draining.
>Why the frick do people have social anxiety in video games?
I dont know anon, I can't help it. Getting a voice changer wouldn't help. I wish I wasnt like this
>Why the frick do people have social anxiety in video games? I'm fed up of having people sitting in voice chat not saying anything.
Get a voice changer or something if you're that concerned, just fricking speak.
The problem is - the frick do I even talk about? I want to have fun talking with guildies but I got nothing interesting to say. Life sucks so fricking bad. I hate being lonely, but I also can't fit into conversations with others.
I slow and can't concentrate when people are talking over me and hard for me to listen and play the game at the same time especially during raids. I can only do 1 thing at a time so talking is out of the question.
>pvp in elden ring >grief fightclub gays >leave coop sign down >grief fightclubgays
Leave it in the coliseum you homosexuals, fight clubs are cancer and its hilarious killing the host to ruin your stupid gay orgy
>literally everything has a guide so everyone knows what to do and how to behave >the only time people talk is creating sudo hardcore homosexual relationships veiled as hetero >voicechat is just moronic nonsense, moron noises or one guy trying to hog attention
Thanks I'll solo.
All I can think of while playing in a group is how the other members of the group are judging my every move and if I blunder even slightly my heart jumps into my throat and I contemplate on quitting on the spot.
this probably is of little consolation to you, and you've likely heard it before, but everybody goes through this at least once. I used to have a lot of trouble coping with it too.
I ended up learning from repeated exposure to it that since we all go through it, we all also eventually end up learning how little other people are actually thinking about us. most people are actually much more worried about themselves and their own performance than they are about other people's.
don't phone it in or cut any corners, of course, but don't sweat what other people think of your own performance. it's not like these games are terribly demanding of you to begin with anyways; let's be real.
I just can't disregard this feeling. The absolute worst this has ever hit me was in a group where someone had a DPS meter addon that reported the numbers of a fight into the group chat after each fight. I was usually second in DPS, and that made me feel like everyone had to be laughing at me because I was playing the class that had the highest dps ceiling at the time and was losing in dps to someone. No one actually said anything, but I still felt like I wanted to vomit for the entire dungeon run, so I KNOW it is in my head and still can't help but feel bad about it.
you seriously just get used to it with age and repeated exposure man. look at the DPS meter as a way to test yourself, not a way to prove your worth to other people.
personally how I get through stuff similar to yours is I make a hyperbole out of whatever I'm anxious about to the point it pisses me off more than it makes me anxious (e.g. someone caring about my DPS way too much even though it doesn't really matter at all at the time), I apply this to everything and it usually works (job interviews are also a good example, although you don't have to apply hyperbole as much because their demands and expectations are already outrageous enough)
you shouldn't discount looking into other ways to manage your stress if this is a problem for you that is manifesting in places other than WoW. if you aren't eating or sleeping right or getting enough physical activity and sunshine u won't be pro gamer u know anon
It manifests everywhere. I cannot stop thinking that I have to justify myself to everyone I meet and interact with. This leads me to working a lot of overtime because I think refusing would make me look lazy in my employer's eyes and therefore no longer worthy of keeping on payroll.
I feel you anon. I think that if your employer is willing to pay you overtime to begin with that you are worthy employee in their eyes. You're unhappy with yourself for some reason and are projecting that unhappiness onto your superiors, but I'm not telling you anything you don't know. I'm sure you can manage to cope better with this in the future. My heart goes out 2 u anon.
Something like this sort of happened to me once. I was playing a healer in some MMO and I cleared a dungeon with randoms and one of them friended me and wanted me to party up with him. After powering through my panic attack I said yes and he invited some other friends and one of them mocked me for having such a low item level. Never heard from that initial player again.
People care more about metas and clear times than about simply having fun with friends these days
Every time somebody tried to communicate with me in a MMO, I just quit the game. Definitely not paying to fricking BE with people. The idea was to use masses of other players as means to fill the world and make it more alive, which is simply redundant at this point. Perhaps that's why the genre died.
I play my pc games on a 70 inch tv with surround sound speakers, typically using a controller whenever possible
Every extended interaction with other mmo players expects me to join a voice chat in discord or use my keyboard. I don't want to buy a mic or wireless keyboard, or add them into the pool of accessories (cats) that sit on my lap already.
When I was younger I was a huge socialite. In my first MMO guild, some of them called me The Face and whenever I went 5 minutes without saying anything they'd ask if something was wrong. Everyone would make jokes about me being a chatterbox and I almost got kicked from an end-game guild because two of the leaders hated how talkative I was. I carried this attitude over to TF2, as well.
I still play TF2, but I don't talk to anyone. Every couple years, I return to that MMO, sometimes retail, sometimes private, and I never talk to anyone. One time, someone started talking to me and I felt rude for ignoring them, and they invited me to their guild. For a moment, I thought, "Why have I been so antisocial? Isn't this the kind of interaction I used to play these games for?"
I introduced myself and one of the guild members made a joke about her finding a new man, which caused her to go into a 30 minute storytime about her long and wild sex life, including her college professor who was twice her age and fell asleep while she was giving him a blowjob under his desk.
And then I thought, "Oh yeah, this is why." I've met a ton of people in life and I've come to the decision that I don't really like them. I like you guys because you might as well be robots.
Ganker is nice because it's a uniquely noncommittal form of socialization, and you're guaranteed to be speaking to someone you have something in common with (in theory). Even if you encounter the worst guy you could imagine here, you can't see or smell him, and you don't really have to even acknowledge his existence at all if you don't want to. I resent being called a robot lol! >:(
More to your point, I would have to agree with your assessment that most people you meet in online games just aren't even worth the time of day, these days especially. I wasn't nearly as much of a chatterbox in MMOs or TF2 back then, but I was active in the text chat and enjoyed when people on the mic were actually doing funny shit or at least playing some nice music.
Nowadays the people in text chat and voice are all annoying gays! I can't think of a more polite way to put it. Everyone is so goddamn Online in those kinds of games now that they can't help but endlessly tone police and trauma dump all of the fricking fun out of video games, an impressive feat for certain.
You'd think playing a game with someone would mean they have even more in common with you, but a large minority of people I've played MMOs with were kind of normalgay douchebags. I thought those games would be full of geeks, but you couldn't go a day without having to listen to people talk about their sex lives, clubbing, drugs and God knows what else. Several times I found myself in the middle of marital drama or MeToo-like movements where men slip into white knighthood to brand other men as Nazis because they did something like sexually harass several girls over the phone, and it wasn't until later you realize, "How did he get their phone numbers to begin with," and the answer is they were all having phone sex with him and got tired of it and took advantage of an opportunity to get rid of him once they found new guys to leech off.
>can converse to people I trust or known for a duration of time >go into autism mode around complete strangers
I actually think I might be the opposite. I love talking to strangers because I know I'll never see them again so it doesn't matter what I say.
>Play MMO >someone strikes up a conversation >decide to reply >feel obligated to keep talking as to not look like an butthole for suddenly not replying >conversation goes longer than I wanted to
>2007 Runescape >conversations about random shit everywhere >half the time its just flame warring >2011 Dungeon Fighter Online >group style mmo, so joining a guild is really beneficial >group up with these dudes all the time; pvp tourneys, raffles, dungeons, etc.. >actually considered them real friends >guild eventually disbands for reasons and everyone goes their own way
haven't enjoyed any new mmos tbh. still play runescape, and tried a guild, bujt the turbo normie weird shit happens every time.
osrs introduced official game modes for the introverts >ironmen cannot trade other players >cannot loot other players on pvp
why even play a MMO at that point?
play in a private self hosted server lmao
>private self hosted server
I really should try this, I hate all other players in every MMO and always ignore any attempt at communication. I love the grinding and gear treadmill of MMOs but other players existing makes all of them trash
I played FFXIV in a Free Company for like three months. Then the entire FC collapsed into gay drama, schizos doxing each other, and people getting swatted.
I played solo for the next five years until EW came out and I got fed up with the game. In the five years I played solo I never talked to another player.
I remember when I was a sprout. Lots of people would talk to me either when I talk to them or out of the blue, get help during dungeons/bosses, get compliments when I performed well, FC invites, etc.
As soon as I lost the leaf, I'd get ignored most of the time, I'd get shit on for the tiniest mistakes and no more FC invites.
And so I stopped talking to everyone until I eventually left the game.
I have 2500 hours in Warframe and never talked to a single person except for trading. I just don't know what to say. Oh wow this game is so fun ah ah this weapon is so good bro wow. Then what?
There's nothing to talk about anymore. We are on the verge of the biggest war humanity has ever seen, people are anxious, everyone knows it's happening soon. Remember that only the present truly exists, and in the same way we remember the past we preview the future through vague sensations and emotions.
On top of that, if you find someone to talk to, they'll invite you to their circlejerk discord where they'll make you say trans rights and then participate in their narcissism circus. Nothing of value can be lost from not speaking to people online in 2024.
>We are on the verge of the biggest war humanity has ever seen
There might never be another world war again. We are living in the most peaceful time in human history even if it doesn't seem like it.
We are literally living in a worse economic time than the depression. A man working during the depression could still afford a home easier than you can.
>Playing Wyrmrest Alliance with wife >Dragonflight killed the faction here >Take a two month break >Deader than it was in wod >Best guild mates jump to moonguard after a decade or so here, killing the guild >Everyone left on the server is either annoying or a maniac
Because most modern MMOs are streamlined as frick to the point where you don't need to talk or socially interact with anyone. Automatic grouping mechanics and content so easy that the other people in your dungeon group may as well be NPCs.
I'm not even bad at socializing, there's just no fricking games worth doing that in nowadays. The games are too trash (No I don't want to play fricking World of Warcraft in 2024, the game is 20 fricking years old by now, I want something new) and the few recent online games I've found fun are too heavily moderated. Omega Strikes is an online game I enjoyed some months ago and there's no fricking chat period, no surprise they pulled the plug on that game after less than a year, which is a shame because it was decent fun after work. Dark and Darker is also a game I liked but the game was pulled off steam and you had to get it with a torrent or something, I didn't bother.
It's easier than ever to make online games today since you can deploy servers with amazon cloud services, and yet there's less original online games being made than the fricking 2000's. Ultima Online, Shadowbane, Lineage 2, Gunbound Online, Rakion, Gunz the Duel, S4 League, WC3 Custom Maps, GOD I had so many fricking games to choose from, everyone tried to do something new and different. Now we only get one new game a year and it's the same fricking shit.
>remove nearly all incentive to actually socialize because the game is braindead to get to max level as the world lacks any threat >endgame is the only content that has to be grouped up to complete as a result >WHY NO ONE TALK
I'm not the first to point it out and I won't be the last. There's only so much bullshitting you can do in MAIN CITY until you figure you just want to play the actual game
Acquire personality, convictions, principles and leave your fear behind. If you lack all of those and life experiences required to have developed in such a way, either due to living as a shut in your whole life or being otherwise debilitated in some other fashion, like being crippled or wheelchair bound, start reading literature and philosophy and examine what is best and most appealing in those works for you personally and internalize those things and make them a part of yourself and your vision of life, because that's how you become a complete man: by contextualizing the road of your life, no matter how stupid or mundane through a collection of experiences informed by comparison and reflection. The people that you will meet in the process of this endeavour likely will become your lifelong friends, regardless of where you've met them.
You don't read philosophy and books to make friends, you use those as a surrogate life experience if you have none of your own, to become the kind of a person that is worth befriending, and the anon asking the question obviously does not possess any of that, because if he had, he wouldn't be asking the question in the first place. It is better advice than "do drugs and get in trouble".
Black person he is trying to steer him away from the path of becoming a shithead normie that only talks about getting high and drunk/how much of a b***h his girlfriend is.
Hate everyone
I hate so many people in my life it's insane not even God could compare to my hatred of my "friends" and "family" but that's ok because I can frick women easily and have a lot of "friends" even though I despise all of them and desperately want to kill myself
But I'm happy so it's fine
I was fine socialising in my teens in mmo's back when most people weren't just talking about their irl social lives and more about what they were doing in-game on the in game chat. I join a discord now and they all seem to be friends irl and are talking about shit and people in their daily lives I have no clue about and it seems impossible to break the ice with any of them.
Just talk about what interests you. Or ask someone a question about something they had said that interested you. Surely you are not completely indifferent to what every single person there is saying?
You know, you might not be that far off the truth. Still, better to like anime girls and also not be a hollow husk of a human being, than just like anime girls.
homie most normies just talk about food, marvel movies, sex / pr0n, and hating their jobs. Are you in a discord with Mr.Beast or some shit? Don't you at least have some strong opinions about anime? Steer the topic towards anime and just slowly get better from there.
it only takes 1-3 people to make raid night a fricking drag, some autistic psycho nerds will literally drive me to drink. you know if you're one of them too.
Everyone blames discord and whatnot, but they're missing the forest for the trees.
MMO interactions will never be good again because of prevalence of social media and iphones.
MMOs simply haven't adapted. They are still the same game from 20 years ago.
Look at games like Lethal Company. These are the types of ideas that an MMO should be attempting to work on. What is something that you can only do in videogames and with other people?
I'm really desperate for a good Ragnarok Online server right now but there's none good ones running at the moment. I just want a server where I can kill people and waste time.
>doesn't exist, they all died with the gravity shit
It was a nothingburger. They sued a company that was using a LLC in America to distribute the game(it was their legal obligation to do this in order to protect the IP) and everything else was rumours.
It was used as an excuse by all current server owners to close up shop and run away with the money, with only promises they'd come back later. Nobody else was hit.
Nah, it only exposed people and sped up plans. The current model of constantly opening and closing up servers exists because too many players are server hoppers that just want to play fresh servers, and dump money on them.
Pretty much this, nobody wants to start a server as a passion project and foot the bill themself anymore, instead every pserv is run first and foremost as a business and has to churn a profit, god forbid the money starts drying up or else the owner will pull the plug in a heartbeat
And then there's the servers which are both run as a business and also managed incompetently, the worst of both worlds
Imagine being a good looking autist who doesn't get love because he's a social moron. We all recently saw that with TJ on Fishtank.live. It's somehow sadder.
kek unironically me in SWTOR. Played the entire game without even grouping up with anyone. Actually enjoyed that the whole game is solo-able. Just used my waifu Kira Carsen and never bothered to do any co-op LFG stuff
Cause you troonys never leave ppl alone. I login to a game I’ve never played and get hit with discord guild and trade invites before I even know what the attack button is. Stop being so starved for attention you have to talk to everyone you meet. You homosexuals don’t do this irl so why do you act like this in vidya?
I will never stop talking or writing in mmos. I will always roleplay as my character. I will be the change I want to see. So far I am surrounded by disgusting subhumans, but I remain positive
I enjoyed them in the early 2000s. Doubtful I'd ever play one again when you consider how awful current society is. I prefer solo and doing stuff at my own pace now. I'd have to overcommit to completing quests, organizing times to play etc. I don't care for that anymore.
most people playing are job and family having normalgays, while i'm a hikikomori neet. if we start to get to know eachother they'll realize how pathetic i am and silently judge me.
I judge you not for your superficial professional and relationship progress but for your lack of total personal progess. I envy the time you have as I used to have it myself
I usually talk to people a lot when I start an MMO, then I get a group of people I play with a lot, then I usually end up like never talking to people outside my group.
My experience with MMOs is FF XIV, so it's: >holy shit they played Eternal Wind in the trailer >eternal what? Is that an FF XIV song? >oh my god, Bangaa Fusiliers are canon to the setting >what's a bangaa? Is that like a viera?
No one there has actually played an FF game before so I have nothing to talk about so I just play solo quietly.
I am that silent person in your guild who never says anything but if you ever say you're being ganked then I've already teleported next to you just to CC chain the person for 20 seconds
Then I go back to fishing on a boat or something
>try to talk to random people >before i do that i must get discord >game also.. >requires discord for parties >requires discord for guilds >requires discord for maintenance info >requires discord for class/mechanics guides >requires discord for customer support >requires discord for tech support >requires discord for FAQ >requires discord fo-
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I FRICKING HATE MODERN SOCIETY AND MODERN MMOS
same. i had a roommate in college like this and he was super friendly and cool and tried including me in everything but it just never stopped. >people are over at our place literally every hour of the day >his brother lived next door and the two would go and leave like they both lived in each other's place, sometimes didn't even close the front door >going out drinking every day of the weekend, which to him started on wednesday >every waking moment he always had plans to go do something, literally anything, and got his posse together to go >hey we're going to the aquarium >hey we're gonna go check out this sinkhole off this backroad >hey we're gonna go to the pool >hey we're going to the movies >hey we're gonna go to the casino >hey we're going fishing >hey we're going over to anon's place to smoke >hey we're going to the hookah bar >hey we're going over to anon's place to watch the game >hey we're going to this house party and after that to the bar and after that maybe another house party >hey we're going to walmart
he and his friends were cool, but holy shit some days i had to lie and say i was staying in to study or go to the library to get out when i just wanted to be left alone. i think that was my first real experience of someone with true extroversion vs my introversion. it was exhausting to deal with.
>be kid me >playing some COD game (I don't remember which) >try online for the first time >do really well, even get a killstreak >one of my teammates gets mad at me for "kill stealing" >sees my kd ratio on the scoreboard >calls me a cheating, hacking homosexual >don't have a mic, so I can't defend myself >dad bursts into my room, hears the guy screaming "Black person" and makes me turn the game off >never play online ever again
>make guild based around playing ingame together and talking ingame without discord >start off small with only 5 members >get more players >somehow have less people running together and talking ingame >occasional mentions of playing something else because game isnt fun
I play with only 5 friends that I had since childhood and we always start a clan together, fight a lot with each other and quit. Fun as frick and never talk to no autistic piece of shiet on the game. Making friends on MMOs is for cowards that like to zerg.
listen to yourself, you sound like those turds that get together on the first day of uni just so you don't look like a weirdo. Turns out you're just a solitary b***h that's too afraid to play alone.
It's so much more fun interacting with people. Went through 80% of XIV without doing much beyond greeting and thanking people in dungeons. Turns out most do want to socialize and make friends, but they're just too shy to take the first step.
>guy killing named quest mob I need >ask him to invite me to party so I can get credit for kill and complete quest >he's playing with his healer gf so I can't invite him either >there is literally no reason for him not to invite me >ignores my repeated requests to invite me while he spends 30 seconds killing mob >weeks later, In an endgame dungeon and the tank is asking me something >answer him but he's acting like I'm not responding >"oh that's weird I had you on ignore" >realize It's the same guy >not only did he not invite me for no reason, he put me on ignore
Frick that guy so much. Seriously what the frick is wrong with people.
People on MMOs are extremely shit nowadays for some reason. I find it improves significantly around expansion or release times when normal people are playing, but if you stick around its only the sociopath autists you end up playing with
I'm way too shy and autistic to talk or type to anyone, and if god forbid someone talks to me I start sweating profusely, heart beats fast, get super anxious. Can't think straight. I play them anyway though cus it's fun leveling and collecting stuff over a long period of time while having real people in the background.
if someone talks to me I immediately close out of the game
Same.
he literally me
Zoomers are fricked.
I'm 37.
i used to be like this as a kid but got over it as i grew older
I'd love a cute genki kemomimi gf...................................
yeah I bet you would
I would!
People like this are fricking insufferable, just shut the frick up. No one wants to know you.
>People like this are fricking insufferable, just shut the frick up. No one wants to know you.
why did it stop to look back like that
he tried to look threatening then he realized he's not supposed to act like a man anymore
>starfield gameplay.webm
You're so cool and anti-social, that's why you willingly came to a website designed to communicate with other people. Seriously, why don't bitter edgelord homosexuals like yourself just assassin's creed dive out of a 3 story window and off yourself already.
no one will miss you 🙂
Nobody misses anyone when they quit MMOs lol
>instant reply
wasn't talking about quitting an mmo
>instant reply
Ok pedantic b***h
Nobody misses anyone that stops showing up in online games
no one will go to your funeral no matter how bitter and jaded you act online
You're a homosexual.
miserable birds of a feather
just gonna samegay again and say based
i didn't samegay and i almost replied to them calling them one

>posts are recursive and exactly a minute apart.
>IP count doesn't go up at all
newbies wouldn't understand
And who will go to yours? You can lie, it's all anonymous anyways
I'll save you seat in hell
Why would I fricking care about anyone going to my funeral? I'd be dead. Do you base the worth and importance of your existence on the notion of how many people will get sad after you die or something?
Its over man
People like this are usually seen as shitters and gay. If you aren't le mysterious "only types one word per message" type, you are automatically labelled as cringe.
i've had good, bad, and mid parties.
it's simply luck of the draw

>"I fear the time has come for me to depart. Farewell."

paladin-kun.....
literally me. I will trade bants and stop you from dying before riding off into the sunset
>Get a job
>Social anxiety turns into performance anxiety
There is no escape
There are too many bitter people out there that will unironically start lashing out at you if you attempt to be friendly.
Other way round for me because I got mocked every time I said anything.
i feel your pain
someone itt give me GOOD SOCIAL MMOS NOW
Wakfu, you get to talk to people while waiting for your turn, also the game got a new server fairly recently so it isn't dead anymore
There isn't a magical game or forum that's going to transport you back to an early 2000s society before social media.
i tried to be friendly as a kid but everyone either ignored me despite rarely speaking or i'd just feel out of place, like i was just following people who didn't care about my existence out of obligation and i was just wasting my time. even in games i feel like this, so i haven't played online shit in like 18 years.
It's going to be lonely but I have no one to blame but myself.
that's autism
Turns out people prefer genuine human interactions and not socializing with an avatar homosexual who LARPs as a japanese female cartoon character
Why are you disrespecting anime on an anime website?
Because I can
>it's like playing with bots
Xhe said as xhe roleplays as [JAPANESE TROPE #8]
How is it different than talking to people on Ganker, moron.
not him, but you have no idea who anyone is or who posted a post
theoretically every single post (except yours) could come from a single person
what you say here has no permanence, it's not tied to your name
>what you say here has no permanence, it's not tied to your name
lol
why are you "lol"ing me?
you have no idea which posts I made in this very thread, because it's not tied to me
if you talk a certain way and you read content you get those impressions lasting on you
but also mods see your idand people running scripts can see your posts
nothing is private nowadays
of course mods know who I am, I am posting with a pass, I am literally logged in to the site
but regular users do not know who anyone is here, so we can freely share our thoughts
there is no pressure here to appear a certain way
that's the point I'm trying to make
there's no real pressure to behave a certain way in an mmo either if that's the point
you either perform the raid content or you dont and unhinged losers cant perform
This. Every identity I have online is completely splintered and seperate so nobody can just google me and find all my shit under one name. If I don't like a certain identity I can just abandon it and that person ceases to exist.
That's just basic opsec, anon. Have one identity for videogames, have one identity for banking and billing and have one identity for throwaway irrelevant shit. Never let them overlap, use separate emails and browsers for each.
qrd on these scripts?
>people running scripts can see your posts
false
>theoretically every single post (except yours) could come from a single person
did you hear about poster count
posting from your pc and posting from your phone still makes you one person. likewise with resetting your router.
Not op but it took me a while before i started posting here, mostly lurked
>oh hey @s3xm4sterxd i didn't notice someone else was grinding this area too OuO!!
>hey @s3xm4sterxd you're pretty cool to talk to, mind if i add u as a friend? <3
>@s3xm4sterxd u wanna go run [annoying loot treadmill content only braindead tards like]? O<O
>@s3xm4sterxd hey you wanna join my discord server? ~_~ my friends are pretty chill and always looking for cool guys to talk to, you'd love them... and they'd love you too <3
>@s3xm4sterxd btw i'm trans... sorry i'm only bringing it up now that you're using the wrong pronouns even though i'm playing as a girl haha... <3 i know u don't mean anything bad by it i just want to let u know OuO
Hi s3xm4sterxd, Your level 60 character has been banned from the game for breaking some of our community's rules:
- Being transphobic.
that sounds fricking awesome where can do i sign up?
World of Warcraft, last I checked?
Any MMO played by 20+ white dudes probably has at least 10% of a userbase like this.
Probably more likely if you put [Trans Ally] or some stupid shit in your name.
I'm probably just a moronic homosexual but I love when people type like that. It's very emotive and fun.
Sone people are interstingw and high energy and fun to be around
>boring people pretend they're nor boring just by telling interesting stories or funny jokes
that's called not being boring moron
Same. I'm so boring I can't even pretend to not be boring like the other anon said. I have no interesting life tales, nothing.
everybody is boring, but sometimes being boring together is enjoyable... like what we're all doing itt 😮
What I learned is I'm not boring just severely autistic and it gets on others peoples nerves way too fast
being boring is not the worst thing you can be, but I don't quite get it - don't you have any interests? You don't even have to have lived a crazy life yourself - you can discuss things you have read about or are interested in yourself.
My brother is incredible at keeping a conversation going, he just talks with a lot of energy and passion about the topic at hand or what's going through his head.
same, except im not afraid of them, i just instinctively hate them on sight
post the dicksword sis
wtf he’s me
whenever i do get comfortable enough to talk i always end up saying something stupid and everyone :skull:'s me so i end up leaving and maybe deleting my account
Fake i know everyone in Ganker just falseflag but is a true chad in real life
>can converse to people I trust or known for a duration of time
>go into autism mode around complete strangers
Autism mode how? I think it's pretty normal to be wary of people you don't know in the slightest
Nobody ever seems to mention how strange a sensation it is for a completely faceless and incorporeal voice to strike up a conversation with you
>he doesn't find faceless and incorporeal voices to be more palatable than real people
Grasp the truth, brother.
well, I'm operating under the assumptions that I'm a human being interacting with another human being, so the inconsistencies with the regular social behavior the human animal is used to just tends to trip me up 🙂
That's how phone calls used to work, moronic zoomer.
Same I have to psyche myself up for a few minutes before I can join a discord vc
Hop on Discord
Reasons why I don't socialize with anyone on multiplayer games
>Firsts things first, I tend to suck at any type of video game, I can get to average status at best.
>The person might be one of those that constantly tells you what to do and if you don't listen he goes nuclear
>I like to take my time while playing, exploring the map, doing stuff, not rushing anything or competing.
I'll give you a (You)
>I like to take my time while playing, exploring the map, doing stuff, not rushing anything or competing. Most people play like speed runners like their lives depend on it. So I just get left behind all the time while they talk down to me.
I'm like that too although I almost don't play vidya anymore
Making friends online is quite hard unless I’m just autistic
BACK THE FRICK OFF
i have the opposite problem, i love talking to people in games and can form relationships with almost anyone that talks back and is willing to have a prolonged conversation, and MMO players inevitably and almost without exception fall in love with me and try to get me on discord and cyber with me and stuff. so i have to just significantly control my urge to talk to people to stop this from happening. it was a lot more fun when I was a kid and you could just be friends in the game and that was it
>fall in love with me and try to get me on discord and cyber with me
do they not know you're a guy or what
>MMO players
>straight
Good one
what makes you think I am?
I was like this too for a long time while playing MMOs. I never got into the social aspects of the games and I regret missing out on all the fun I could've had when MMOs were still comfy. Its how it is sometimes.
>I start sweating profusely, heart beats fast, get super anxious.
fricking same my heart starts racing so fast sometimes i sometimes feel like i will blackout
Gen-Z needs to be killed for their own good and replace by designer babies.
I wonder how awful gen-alpha will be.
Unbelievable.
t.29 and absolutely despise millenials
you're right
t. millennial
LITERALLY me
every mmo I played was seeing how far I could get solo/without interacting with other people
Does griefing other players count?
It's a MMORPG not a MMOChatroom
>play mmo
>notice that no one actually talks
>everyone is on discord
>insert disappointed reaction image because i dont have any
Discord pretty much destroyed MMOs. It was nice while it lasted
no, that was facebook
Discord literally destroyed gaming communities of any kind, period.
proof?
Any forum, group, etc requires and advertises or requires a trooncord server.
>Forums
Hate them with a passion. Anyone who thinks that forums were good is an idiot.
forums are great. Not for discussion mind you, but when you want to look up something about a game from 8 years ago and every question you can think of was already asked and answered on an easily google searchable forum, that's just fantastic.
Meanwhile thanks to discord any resources for modern games will be lost to the ether in a decade from now.
>delete server
>information gone, forever
🙂
sure that can happen, but it'll happen way faster and more frequently with discord because there's no referencibility to begin with. Instead of "search my question on google" it's "find the discord server invite on google, then log into the discord, hope they don't have some channel you have to introduce yourself in before you can post in other channels, and then ask your question and wait for one of the 2 people who still play this game to decide if they think your question is worth answering".
server
gone, forever
>:)
https://web.archive.org/
kys
Damn, whole lotta discord servers I can get from a URL
that site should be taken down honestly
Found the cartridge.
This is the most important point that very few people make, most of the Discord critique is just emotionally asshurt morons that were ousted from their favorite clique and the practical considerations of how the ease of use and accessibility of Discord killing forums made sure that everything that goes out into the internet now has an expiration date. All of the guides, mods, all the information and tutorials for various things, useful or useless, will be gone very quickly unless someone determined and capable goes out of his way to archive them and then share them with the rest of us in a more permanent manner.
>what is RAID and imagining
Skype and before that Vent had already done the damage long before discord came around. Voice chat in general has been a disaster for online gaming.
athiesm killed them actually. have you ever been in a discord? theyre void of any philosophy and all it did was efficiently gather athiests from everywhere without discord they would still be scattered
stop trying to act like an oldgay, as if before discord there werent any programs people used to do the exact same shit, you arent fooling anyone Black person
zoom
Dumb as frick opinion. People chatted ingame before Discord
Typing isn't talking. Blame MMORPGs for never evolving past a basic chat box.
WoW had voice chat but no one used it. People are most comfortable with just texting
Before discord you still had people on teamspeak, skype group calls, even on steam group chat. So grouping outside of a game still existed, best and most damaging example of this is the Xbox live party chat, that basically killed proximity chat in games when the NXE update dropped and that was already more than 10 years ago.
sounds like you missed out on the golden era of MMOs 2003-2007
>join gaming discord
>get ignored anyway
>insert sad anime girl reaction image
seriously only the old mmos have good in game communication, all the new ones basically force you to use discord with how bad they are
that;s exactly why the only mmo i play is from 2003
based puzzle pirates enjoyer
what are you doing here kadeem
this, its a combination of games censoring trash talk/open chat and all the social people being in discord groups
it's why i don't play anymore. not even private servers. all discord robots who don't give a frick about you, just the results of their character and power growth.
Nobody is there to actually have fun
nobody except me
lit me.
>play MMO
you didn't even need the second line
I refuse to use Discord in any capacity, simple fricking as.
>come to our discord so we can ban you
>t discord trannie
People who play MMOs aren't worth talking to
Why would I want to talk to freeloading South Americans?
I usually play for the cool environments, the atmosphere, stories and the lore. I had a blast on ESO and SWTOR back then. Never talked to anyone nor tried any raids or bosses or any lame gay bullshit like that.
>play MMO
>join normie guild
>never talk to anyone
>stop getting invited to raids
Guess it didn't help that I didn't have the best dps to make up for it
its 2024 you dont need to talk to other players in mmos to play with them anymore so why bother? genres fricked beyond belief im not gonna try and save it on my own.
>play MMO
>realise over the course of years that most players are subhumans and interaction with them should be avoided at all costs
>Play online game after practicing and improving aim for thousands of hours
>Say yippie
>banned 4lyfe
>play MMO
>only communicate with jumping
>no jumping
>have to spin instead
I did that in Spiral Knights and Helldivers. Helldivers further accomodates this by giving everyone capes that sway behind them as they spin, even has an achievement for spinning several dozen times in a row without interruption.
Last time I actually played an mmo I made some
internet friends who I still play games from time to time. You guys must admit youre unlikable, its okay
Came here to post something similar. The average Ganker troon truly is incapable of anything remotely socialy acceptable, even in social situations with very low stakes.
imagine being that incel in the OP's image
this loser is forever pegged a freak
lol
lmao even
Back in the days of dark age of camelot and warhammer online the people weren't as moronic.
The only way to make sure your guild is good is to be the guildleader yourself and remove all the cancer but that's a lot of work and you can't do that if you have a day job.
your dick is poggers
If they report me I get banned. It's literally game over if you misgender a liberal player who happens to know a mod/dev
I'm a super slow typer, so getting into extended conversations while doing content is impossible for me. If I were to set up a speech to text or a some kind of easy to use autocorrect/quick word select thing in game that would probably work for me, but otherwise no I'm dead silent in the middle of things.
checkd
Take some online courses for typing anon!!
Black person go learn to type it will make your life better
mavis beacon wasnt even a real person. they literally had to make up a Black person who could type lol.
I got a better one. The best there is.
>play mmo
>decide to make friends
>everyone is a middle school edgy tryhard, troon weeb
>join guild
>"sooooooo do you play touhou??? :3"
>leave
Ah yes Mavis Bacon

is mavis beacon still good? or are there other better typing trainers out there that's free and better?
>5
checked
Also I was like you before PSOBB and Ragnarok forced me to type fast
Like the other anons, I agree that you should learn how to type. However, I can type well over a hundred words/minute and still can't type in chat and play at the same time. Honestly, I don't know how people do it.
people get impressed by basic b***h 60 wpm
Like I spend 0 time on improving my typing other than casually using the computer
honestly anyone who types slower than 50 wpm should get help because either they don't have fingers or just are mentally incapable of beating me who uses only like 4 fingers on each hand for typing using only the space bar on one thumb
i just leveled from 1 to 70 in wow doing quests and i realized i still dont have a guild
I can honestly see myself doing this (1-60 I guess since I'm playing classic era), but I do talk to strangers and do group quests with random people all the time. If a random whispers me I won't ignore them. I chose to play as a paladin specifically because it would give me reasons to save people's asses and shoot the shit with them.
who dat
>decide to be social
>join a guild
>they stay quiet and just hang out all day in groomerscord
>join against my better judgement
>all they can talk about is how drunk they are, their favorite alcohol drinks, and how miserable their work-life is
>go back to being an antisocial mute
>join any sort of group
>have been a wage slave now for 10 years straight
>can't ever play with them as it seems none of them even have a job so they all do shit at ass-backwards times
this is my problem with MMOs, I was willing to be social but they wanted to hang from 1-3 AM on a weekday
>play mmo
>everyone is a "femboy", furry , libtard, snowflake, homosexual, troony etc
Yeah, i don't socialize with these homosexuals, everyone i ever cliqued up with in those games were the normies that are becoming less and less common.
Frick internet weirdos, burn em all.
>I 'member when the internet was full of big, brawny, manly men doing manly things
Aw, getting early-onset dementia, granddad?
I remember when the internet had cool people that werent complete insufferable homosexuals.
Go back to /vg/ to your waifu/husbando circlejerking homosexualry you Black person.
seem like i 100% struck a nerve, you're one of the types i mentioned fosho.
But you and I are still here bro. It's clear that there's still cool people online!
you are correct, but they were not nexessarily "cool", just normal people acting more or less same on the internet as in real life
I do, but as soon as they ask for discord i gtfo immediately
You have zero friends.
>Play MMO
>Talk to a guy
>He answeres
>Get social anxiety
>Awkwardly say goodbye to end social anxiety
>Leave and play singleplayer instead
>anyone got mics
>silence

>playing an MMO together with my wife(female)
>we want to join a guild to do group content easier
>"discord is required!"
>okay, even though neither me or her don't like it
>the guild constantly talks about real life shit
>their work, their chores, etc.
>some gays are straight out blogging all day on discord, rarely actually play the game
>we leave the guild after a week or so
>later on we see the guild recruiting in the global game chat
>"guild X is recruiting, no antisocial people!"
We just want to do fricking dungeons man, we wanted to raid, we only wanted to DO CONTENT
We don't give a shit about your everyday life and we don't care how hard your day at work was, we're not your besties
Why can't people just play video games together
>Why can't people just play video games together
Normalgays
Which MMO?
Man I was semi hyped for helldivers 2 but after the latest trailers + drms + cash shop reveal it's not looking so hot.
This specific case was in Blade and Soul, but we played most of the korean MMOs together.
Our best MMO experience was actually on SEA Dragon Nest server, where the indos were super friendly and they pretty much only talked about the game
Huh, on EU servers when I was giving blade and soul a try it was mostly turbo tryhards instead of people trying to create a social club.
MMOs attract narcissists.
the landscape is too changed
Discord is essentually an inner circle people who have been possibly bullied IRL to have powertrip. They post their shitty memes and captions, there is no meaningful conversation whatsoever.
MMOs just don't work anymore, with the current world, as there are an archaic design for different people. We changed way too much since the early 2000's
MMOs only exist as a stopgap for bad companion AI.
Just image the gallons of semen they have bathed in
Ok, I've got the image. Now what?
I know that's AIKA but who is the other girl? Google and Yandex give me nothing.
>Say something
>Someone responds in Portuguese
I remember when dead F2P MMOs were the domain of the eternal BR, now I'm paying for the privilege of interacting with these subhumans.
>"i joined this MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER game to be alone!"
- Deranged homosexual
how 2 make friends in real life?
>Used to be quite social in MMOs, made a bunch of friends
>Shit happened irl, took a break from the game and somehow my social skills went to shit
>Fix my life, mostly, and decide to return to the game
>Most of my old friends have stopped playing since my break, those that remain are much less active
>Struggle to make new friends even though the groups I joined were/are full of great guys
Man, why can't I just break the ice with my current group? I don't get what's holding me back.
COVID was just an invasion of the USA by millions of “immigrants.” Why do you think the roads are so busy now? Really makes you think doesn’t it.
>play MMO
>want to be social
>can't say anything in the game without my money being stolen, even telling people how to play properly in "the wrong way" can get you suspended
>instead have to download some third party chatroom program used by child groomers and terrorists (it's mandatory and everyone in every game uses it though!!)
>the server measures three screens worth of disorganised channels mostly of shit getting reposted from other servers, usually official news for the game and news from the meta minmaxing community (because some moron thought a chat room is a good repository for information)
>nobody uses any of the chat channels anyway, they all just hang out in VC all day
>join VC
>most of the day is spent in awkward silence with everyone doing their thing, only getting a shrill interruption when the local chatty homosexual shows up (usually a female or "female")
>nobody says anything of interest anyway, the only topic of discussion is either alcohol, drugs or how drunk or high they currently are, or someone is traumadumping or venting about their real life
Yes, I would in fact rather be alone.
>Started my own black desert online guild to weed out the morons
>Choose who gets to stay and who gets to leave
>Start doing nodewars
>Have some post NW debriefs on voice
>When the debrief is done I'd start going : now let me tell you about the israelites

15 years later
>play Warzone

I wish I was just memeing
Must be something new because I've been driving vehicles around in warzone 2 while proxy chat blasting Alabama Black person, homie homie homie, love me long time and other random stuff and I never got in trouble.
they have AI voice chat moderation now, I guess that's that
That's fricking gay. Then again everything is gay now. On Apex I got a 3 day ban because my name was deemed offensive. "Alec Baldwin's Failed Vasectomy" because you know, he wasn't shooting blanks.
Black person why can't you name yourself something normal like Arthur Smith?
It was already taken, just like Nate Higgers and Ned Diggers.
I'm like him, if I can pick a name that will make even a single person laugh, I will.
"Dorito-chan"
"Abortion"
"Crackpipe Explosion"
stuff like that
I tend to pick things that are related to current events, like the Alec Baldwin one, or when the Depp vs Heard trial was big I went with "Amber's bed & breakfast" because of the shit she took on the bed. I'll have to find something new next time I play multiplayer stuff again.
No lie? I would quit playing that game if that shit happened to me. That's a funny username that would offend exactly one person
Yes. A Spanish piece of shit reported me, probably a guy who got mad I killed him. I'd uninstall the game if only my irl friends didn't keep asking me to play it because they have fricking toasters they refuse to upgrade despite not being poor so they can only play f2p shit or indie games.
>AI voice chat moderation
AI what??
An actively running ai algorithm that scans your voice for no-no words and sounds. Welcome to the current year. The future is now.
>ai algorithm that scans your voice
that's just a simple voice to text transcription and has been existed for decades
Too real

Mutha fricker we're doing some content together in a PUG. I want to actually play.
I should specify
>ask questions not related to the content we're doing
If you ever need to know how to do something, then sure, that's a reasonable thing to ask during the content. But if you want to know what shade of purple I'm wearing, that can wait.
itt: why i have always avoided MMORPG's
and the shitty gameplay too omg i did spell ganked that mob bro just need to grind more for that dagger .4% drop rate but eventually i will win
I used to talk easily as a kid, but now I just don't bother. And it doesn't seem like anyone bothers either. You just have the same autists speaking on the world chat over and over again.
When someone talks about MMOs I always assume they talk about old World of Warcraft, RuneScape and p2w Korean grinders from 200x.
>talk
>money stolen
really a mystery
contrary to popular belief it is actually possible to talk without using the n-word
Guilds aren't your friends. They exist for gameplay reasons. Most MMORPGs have no voice chat. You are wasting everyone's time standing there typing.
thats bullshit i m a good guy and people can tell, because of it a guy lent me his wow vanilla account and i could play his class which was cool af, then i could do stuff like bait low lvl at the starting zone with a pvp tagged low lvl and my elf warrior standing instealth and gank these low lvl scrubs on a pve server, we also rolled on another pvp server and did some other shit. good people do good shit to each other, benefits you couldnt even imagine. but you re not part of it we re big boys and we can tell snakes so get rekt
Wat
u r not worthy
They're your friends if you make them your friends, just like any other hobbyist group.

I still don’t get why people say discord killed gaming like we had mumble, xfire, teamspeak, vent, and alot of other programs and gaming is pretty much the same

>kvetch on here

>play game with online features

You don't need MMOs with Discord, you can just have everyone play the latest FOTM together for the same experience (minus exploitative merchant economies)
>make "other people, lots of them" the main selling point of your game
>it is, by far, the single worst part of the game
>play squad based game
>jump into a squad of randos
>everyone is communicative and skilled
>have a grand time
>match ends
>never ever play with any of them every again
Is there a single good MMO in 2000+24?
Define good
The only thing that comes close is private servers for old games and those are all rife with their own problems. While FFXIV has production quality the end product is not what I'd consider a good MMORPG - it'd be better as a game along the lines of Granblue ReLink. Still, it has a free trial.
Upcoming ones
>Blue Protocol
all reports say it's shit. Amazon is doing loc so it'll be censored shit
>Arche Age 2
The first 4 weeks of Arche Age were the most fun I've ever had in an MMORPG so I will definitely check this out but I do not have high hopes. It's Korean though so that has its own problems.
>Throne and Liberty
has potential but it's korean
>Ashes of Creation
I'll believe it when I see it
>Pantheon
as dead as brad mcquaid
>others
lmao
There was also that Chrono Odyssey MMO with soulslike combat which looked interesting.
Quinfall might be okay, as it's made neither by americans nor koreans
unironically as of writing private servers are the only good MMO's. I hope something new and fun happens, but we will have to wait.
Lmao what a shit list
>ArcheAge 2

>Pantheon

>Throne and Liberty

How do I make friends in MMOs if nobody talks anymore?
join the discords via the subr*ddit before you boot up the game
>try making conversation with someone from /xivg/ and don't act like a total sperg
>They literally start throwing themselves at me asking if I wanna erp
>Suddenly have someone I don't know whispering me passive aggressive angry things
>See in the thread that same random person who whispered me is having a total melty
I really wish this was a joke
>interacting with the "people" from /vg/
We all have to learn these lessons ourselves
How does one stop acting like a total sperg? What do you even talk about?
Asking for a friend.
>XIV
Kinda doing it to yourself buddy
the people who constantly post their dudes in the pseudo-generals on this board seem insane enough as is. I've only read one edition of /xivg/ and saw more than enough. the people who play xiv and post about it often on this website are fricked in the head
the in-game leveling experience for a new player is insanely boring and provides almost no opportunities to JUST DO SHIT with other people beyond fates and MSQ dungeons, and nobody fricken talks EVER
game is moronic
>fricken
ESL moron
that's a typo I've been making intentionally since before you were born
You are a typo, when your father forgot to put on that condom he made a typo bringing about you.
sup, newhomosexual
Made me 5x more cautious when interacting with people online since.
>mmo launches
>start enjoying it
>start doing random dungeons or grinding parties
>chatting with people having fun
>the higher level I got the less talkative people became
>eventually nobody would ever say anything
>eventually get bored and quit
>have the mechanical "talent" to parse 99s
>never want to suck up to anyone to get in a guild that lets me do it
>just play a healer

>do everything I can skill wise
>have all my enchants and gems and blah blah
>top 3 dps on the meter
>check the logs afterwards
>my parse is like a fricking 22
>still get scrutinized by pugs if not outright kicked
I wish I knew what was going on here, guess I'm just bad at the game and everyone below me on the meters is even worse.
I don't use weak auras, maybe that's it...
what class and patch
it was rogue during first two phases of wotlk classic.
I was just raiding with a casual guild so it didn't matter too much but being laughed out of a normal mode pug was humiliating when I know all the fights and can contribute sufficient damage. hate this homosexual community.
I don't even raid anymore. don't even play the game anymore (I got into GW1 and singleplayer rpgs instead)
what was your rotation like and what race
troll combat rogue, I tried my best with rotation.
can't remember the specifics but it was keep up slice and dice, keep up rupture, and sunder armor if none of the warriors are. if the warriors are sundering, then you can eviscerate.
Oh, and pad with cleave cooldown that's pretty much how rogue does ANY damage lmao.
>waste all your combo points and energy on expose armor that's how you parse bro
lmao at your life
>used to parse 95+ all the time in heavensward
>few years pass
>slowly stop caring
>endwalker
>don't give a frick at all anymore
>end up being that guy who's "mid" in dungeons
feels good tbh, no more stressing out about this garbage community and garbage game
>play MMO
>expect friendly people with reasonable amount of RP
>get no fun allowed tryhards treating the game like a job or the exact opposite - zoomers and dudebros spouting unfunny memes and random dumb shit
needless to say I do not play MMOs anymore
>>play MMO

WHAT'S GOING ON!
Catheryby... they used to call it the playground of the world. People came from miles around to fish lobbies, ask fishing levels, and shoot the breeze arguing about the most inane things
they dont talk anymore on the beaches. They dont talk on the beaches anymore...
>play MMO
>players call me daddy
stop naming yourself daddy and see what happens
if i can't make any friends irl I probably can't make friends in video game either
I would be overjoyed if people started playing MMO's as chatrooms with a game tacked on like they did in the 90s.
Get a voice changer or something if you're that concerned, just fricking speak.
>talk so much that I got in trouble for it even though most people laughed at my jokes
>didn't call me out by name but there was a officer discussion about too many people talking who aren't the raid leader making the raid take longer
damn...
>in a BFD raid with only one other c**t that would talk
>explaining boss fights to people
>any time we started joking or talking about something not related to the raid ESL raid clear starts spamming "clear comms" in raid warnings
God I fricking hate MMOs
i'm ESL third worlder and I don't like my stupid accent because someone will invariably notice it and will demand that i talk about my country and i hate it
I love hearing third worlder accents in my american servers. especially the slav country accents, those are kino
not him, but I don't even have a funny accent, just the slight imperfections that let people know I'm ESL
>When a Jamaican enters the chat
>"AAAAY MON"
>Jamaican enters the server
>everyone starts doing their best bombaclot impression
fricking same, kill me
it's really a pity that this is such an easy thing for a socially moronic person to ask someone once they notice they're foreign. I try to never bring it up first because who cares about me being an EOP from the US, especially if the dude is already going out of his way to speak fluent English
>EOP from the US
what's EOP?
>be european playing on eu server
>literally everyone speaks with a weird accent
>when they join, actual english people are getting ridiculed for their english accent
voice chat with strangers is honestly a filter for me.
I wish I wasnt like this
>have amazing voice that girls find sexy
>insecure and quiet because I'm asocial
it hurts so much bros
>Why the frick do people have social anxiety in video games? I'm fed up of having people sitting in voice chat not saying anything.
Get a voice changer or something if you're that concerned, just fricking speak.
The problem is - the frick do I even talk about? I want to have fun talking with guildies but I got nothing interesting to say. Life sucks so fricking bad. I hate being lonely, but I also can't fit into conversations with others.
Because it's anonymous and people can be more rude and honest
i'll type but i won't join voice chat. too lazy to set up mic and actively listen to all sorts of accents talking
I slow and can't concentrate when people are talking over me and hard for me to listen and play the game at the same time especially during raids. I can only do 1 thing at a time so talking is out of the question.
do you think that celebrity feels bad for making fun of this kid
no
It was either that or confront a black guy and lose your leftist privileges..
who?
>pvp in elden ring
>grief fightclub gays
>leave coop sign down
>grief fightclubgays
Leave it in the coliseum you homosexuals, fight clubs are cancer and its hilarious killing the host to ruin your stupid gay orgy
imagine playing MMO and being another NPC in that world fricking lmao
>literally everything has a guide so everyone knows what to do and how to behave
>the only time people talk is creating sudo hardcore homosexual relationships veiled as hetero
>voicechat is just moronic nonsense, moron noises or one guy trying to hog attention
Thanks I'll solo.
All I can think of while playing in a group is how the other members of the group are judging my every move and if I blunder even slightly my heart jumps into my throat and I contemplate on quitting on the spot.
How the frick do you get rid of this mindset?
this probably is of little consolation to you, and you've likely heard it before, but everybody goes through this at least once.
NTA but great advice
Something like this sort of happened to me once. I was playing a healer in some MMO and I cleared a dungeon with randoms and one of them friended me and wanted me to party up with him. After powering through my panic attack I said yes and he invited some other friends and one of them mocked me for having such a low item level. Never heard from that initial player again.
People care more about metas and clear times than about simply having fun with friends these days
you stop being a b***h and start being a man
The people that can read your mistakes are already in groups where they don't have anyone making any.
Start noticing everyone else's mistakes. Then notice how it doesn't really matter and you still clear the dungeon just 2 minutes slower.
My social anxiety got so bad recently i cant even look people in their eyes anymore
I stutter from anxiety when I talk to my own parents. I'm legitimately losing the ability to speak.
I actually think I might be the opposite. I love talking to strangers because I know I'll never see them again so it doesn't matter what I say.
>Play MMO
>someone strikes up a conversation
>decide to reply
>feel obligated to keep talking as to not look like an butthole for suddenly not replying
>conversation goes longer than I wanted to
that what happened to me when i was talking to a mid level mage when i was helping him grind materials in a special dungeon
>2007 Runescape
>conversations about random shit everywhere
>half the time its just flame warring
>2011 Dungeon Fighter Online
>group style mmo, so joining a guild is really beneficial
>group up with these dudes all the time; pvp tourneys, raffles, dungeons, etc..
>actually considered them real friends
>guild eventually disbands for reasons and everyone goes their own way
haven't enjoyed any new mmos tbh. still play runescape, and tried a guild, bujt the turbo normie weird shit happens every time.
osrs introduced official game modes for the introverts
>ironmen cannot trade other players
>cannot loot other players on pvp
why even play a MMO at that point?
play in a private self hosted server lmao
>private self hosted server
I really should try this, I hate all other players in every MMO and always ignore any attempt at communication. I love the grinding and gear treadmill of MMOs but other players existing makes all of them trash
>play mmo
>be very social
>get laughs and attaboys when hanging out
>literally never invited to shit
Death would sometimes be preferable
And so I stopped talking to everyone until I eventually left the game.
>play MMO
>never talk to anyone outside my guild because most people are drooling morons, soccer moms or both
Just here to play a game, not talk to you. I'm not your friend.
The why play an MMO?
Nothing of value can be lost from not speaking to people online in 2024.
jesus christ shut the frick up you goddamn bot
>We are on the verge of the biggest war humanity has ever seen, people are anxious
I heard this same line when Crimea got invaded and when that Iranian General got drone'd by Trump
Nothing's going to happen
>We are on the verge of the biggest war humanity has ever seen
There might never be another world war again. We are living in the most peaceful time in human history even if it doesn't seem like it.
1920s and early 30s were plenty peaceful too
>depression era was peaceful
moron
We are literally living in a worse economic time than the depression. A man working during the depression could still afford a home easier than you can.
>Playing Wyrmrest Alliance with wife
>Dragonflight killed the faction here
>Take a two month break
>Deader than it was in wod
>Best guild mates jump to moonguard after a decade or so here, killing the guild
>Everyone left on the server is either annoying or a maniac
Horde side is full of social morons
Is this true?
Yes.
if you see a cute girl in a game you it's either
1-lonely coomer
2-troony
3-e-girl pretending to like games
LOTS of girls (real bio girls) play mmos, especially ff14. almost half the playerbase are girls. it's insane.
tsk tsk tsk ,you've been lied to, anon
>"""girls"""
whose gonna tell him?
That there are actually a lot of biological women that play FFXIV and, yes, a lot of trannies too
The secret's out, a lot of women play FFXIV like it's Second Life
GW2 as well
Source is I've met up with guildies over the years, we're all good friends now
I don't bother trying to befriend anyone. I'm too boring and somewhat stupid.
Now we only get one new game a year and it's the same fricking shit.
>remove nearly all incentive to actually socialize because the game is braindead to get to max level as the world lacks any threat
>endgame is the only content that has to be grouped up to complete as a result
>WHY NO ONE TALK
I'm not the first to point it out and I won't be the last. There's only so much bullshitting you can do in MAIN CITY until you figure you just want to play the actual game
how do i make friends
take HRT
awesome now i have gyno
now what
Change your name to Robert Paulson
Acquire personality, convictions, principles and leave your fear behind. If you lack all of those and life experiences required to have developed in such a way, either due to living as a shut in your whole life or being otherwise debilitated in some other fashion, like being crippled or wheelchair bound, start reading literature and philosophy and examine what is best and most appealing in those works for you personally and internalize those things and make them a part of yourself and your vision of life, because that's how you become a complete man: by contextualizing the road of your life, no matter how stupid or mundane through a collection of experiences informed by comparison and reflection. The people that you will meet in the process of this endeavour likely will become your lifelong friends, regardless of where you've met them.
that sounds difficult
Nothing worth doing is easy.
Life usually is
>read philosophy books to make friends
Thats moronic. The type of people who read philosophy and lit books have no friends.
Pick up a social hobby, eventually get drunk, high shrooms whatever together, and then do something moderately illegal.
Go outside and find a social activity.
>Surely you are not completely indifferent to what every single person there is saying?
At least you can post anime girls I guess?
anime girls are the only thing worth living for
You know, you might not be that far off the truth.
Steer the topic towards anime and just slowly get better from there.
it only takes 1-3 people to make raid night a fricking drag, some autistic psycho nerds will literally drive me to drink. you know if you're one of them too.
being an introvert in an mmo is oddly comfy though
Lol why is this chud mewing in public?
in front of tom hanks of all people
Everyone blames discord and whatnot, but they're missing the forest for the trees.
MMO interactions will never be good again because of prevalence of social media and iphones.
MMOs simply haven't adapted. They are still the same game from 20 years ago.
Look at games like Lethal Company. These are the types of ideas that an MMO should be attempting to work on. What is something that you can only do in videogames and with other people?
the only time i talk in an mmo is in dungeons or raids
i don't talk to anyone when in a hub nor respond to them because 9/10 are just looking to erp
I'm really desperate for a good Ragnarok Online server right now but there's none good ones running at the moment. I just want a server where I can kill people and waste time.
I want to put my tongue in that.
>good RO server
doesn't exist, they all died with the gravity shit
>doesn't exist, they all died with the gravity shit
It was a nothingburger. They sued a company that was using a LLC in America to distribute the game(it was their legal obligation to do this in order to protect the IP) and everything else was rumours.
It was used as an excuse by all current server owners to close up shop and run away with the money, with only promises they'd come back later. Nobody else was hit.
the fact is that the only decent servers are now gone and we are left with nothing, gravity killed RO yet again
Autism is a curse and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
There's worse things than autism. Like being short or bald.
Imagine being a good looking autist who doesn't get love because he's a social moron. We all recently saw that with TJ on Fishtank.live. It's somehow sadder.
what if im bald short and autistic?
>try to be social for once
>no one responds or seems to care
y-yeah I didnt care anyway
hi
Hey
kek unironically me in SWTOR. Played the entire game without even grouping up with anyone. Actually enjoyed that the whole game is solo-able. Just used my waifu Kira Carsen and never bothered to do any co-op LFG stuff
I like MMO gameplay, and I don't want to get banned for calling a moronic Black person a moronic Black person.
Play with a Ganker guild, n word pass is free during in-game chat.
Yeah, but the ban bot will still kick in even if no one reported me.
That's because you're playing shit tier nu-MMOs.
I would thumbs up your post if I could good sirs.
I will never stop talking or writing in mmos. I will always roleplay as my character. I will be the change I want to see. So far I am surrounded by disgusting subhumans, but I remain positive
I like the feeling that the other characters around me are being played by actual people. aside from that everything about mmos are bad
the only MMOs I play are full of either polacks or brs and I speak neither languages.
I enjoyed them in the early 2000s. Doubtful I'd ever play one again when you consider how awful current society is. I prefer solo and doing stuff at my own pace now. I'd have to overcommit to completing quests, organizing times to play etc. I don't care for that anymore.
most people playing are job and family having normalgays, while i'm a hikikomori neet. if we start to get to know eachother they'll realize how pathetic i am and silently judge me.
it's a struggle.
I judge you not for your superficial professional and relationship progress but for your lack of total personal progess. I envy the time you have as I used to have it myself
Most people do talk in MMOs if there are things in the game that are worth talking about.
>be best resto druid in wotlk
>get guild kicked cause no headset
I usually talk to people a lot when I start an MMO, then I get a group of people I play with a lot, then I usually end up like never talking to people outside my group.
That’s me!!! I actively avoid areas with a lot of people
My experience with MMOs is FF XIV, so it's:
>holy shit they played Eternal Wind in the trailer
>eternal what? Is that an FF XIV song?
>oh my god, Bangaa Fusiliers are canon to the setting
>what's a bangaa? Is that like a viera?
No one there has actually played an FF game before so I have nothing to talk about so I just play solo quietly.
I am that silent person in your guild who never says anything but if you ever say you're being ganked then I've already teleported next to you just to CC chain the person for 20 seconds
Then I go back to fishing on a boat or something
>try to talk to random people
>before i do that i must get discord
>game also..
>requires discord for parties
>requires discord for guilds
>requires discord for maintenance info
>requires discord for class/mechanics guides

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I FRICKING HATE MODERN SOCIETY AND MODERN MMOS
>finally make friends
>they want to text, play vidya and go out all the time
>get overwhelmed and exhausted
>don't want friends anymore
same. i had a roommate in college like this and he was super friendly and cool and tried including me in everything but it just never stopped.
>people are over at our place literally every hour of the day
>his brother lived next door and the two would go and leave like they both lived in each other's place, sometimes didn't even close the front door
>going out drinking every day of the weekend, which to him started on wednesday
>every waking moment he always had plans to go do something, literally anything, and got his posse together to go
>hey we're going to the aquarium
>hey we're gonna go check out this sinkhole off this backroad
>hey we're gonna go to the pool
>hey we're going to the movies
>hey we're gonna go to the casino
>hey we're going fishing
>hey we're going over to anon's place to smoke
>hey we're going to the hookah bar
>hey we're going over to anon's place to watch the game
>hey we're going to this house party and after that to the bar and after that maybe another house party
>hey we're going to walmart
he and his friends were cool, but holy shit some days i had to lie and say i was staying in to study or go to the library to get out when i just wanted to be left alone. i think that was my first real experience of someone with true extroversion vs my introversion. it was exhausting to deal with.
i wish i had a friend who would play MMOs with me, even try f2p random shit
same
I want to, but I don't want to hang around with minors.
>play ffxiv
>get into any dungeon
>everyone say hi
>all the dungeon happen
>everyone say gg and leave
I love this game
i have never made a "real" friend in this game
I played Path of Exile and when all my storage/inventory got full I would just go to lower levels and give away unique duplicates to random people
>be kid me
>playing some COD game (I don't remember which)
>try online for the first time
>do really well, even get a killstreak
>one of my teammates gets mad at me for "kill stealing"
>sees my kd ratio on the scoreboard
>calls me a cheating, hacking homosexual
>don't have a mic, so I can't defend myself
>dad bursts into my room, hears the guy screaming "Black person" and makes me turn the game off
>never play online ever again
your dad sounds feminine
LARPing in a sandbox MMO is more fun than grinding lame PvE content with random players that I don't care about in some WoW clone themepark MMO.
Got called a moron and told to shut up too many times as a kid, now I never speak unless spoken to in any aspect of my life.
>MMO tries hard to remove any and all player interaction from the game and turn the game into a single player game
Blame korean insects
Everybody in a modern MMO nowadays is turbo gay
>play MMO
>only converse with other fishers nearby while I'm fishing
I just want to quest and listen to music. Leave me the frick alone.
>make guild based around playing ingame together and talking ingame without discord
>start off small with only 5 members
>get more players
>somehow have less people running together and talking ingame
>occasional mentions of playing something else because game isnt fun
Why..
Peoples brains are broken by discord. They don't know how to function with ingame chat any longer
Is it possible to solo MMOs? I don't like talking to people anymore.
Most MMOs are soloable. And yes, at endgame other people are mostly shitheads who almost certainly cannot function in the real world
dqx is 100% soloable
Modern MMOs ARE single player games now. Even the old ones that have been around for 20 years, turned into slow single player games.
>plays MMO
>have no real life friends to talk and play to
I have one good real life friend and he only plays PS5, fml
I play with only 5 friends that I had since childhood and we always start a clan together, fight a lot with each other and quit. Fun as frick and never talk to no autistic piece of shiet on the game. Making friends on MMOs is for cowards that like to zerg.
>never talk to no autistic piece of shiet on the game.
incredibly based
Then just make friend in game. You don't need real life friends the play MMOs, that was the whole fricking point of the genre.
listen to yourself, you sound like those turds that get together on the first day of uni just so you don't look like a weirdo. Turns out you're just a solitary b***h that's too afraid to play alone.
mmo and online relationships arent real and have no value
get real
if these things filter you, theres no reason to be playing goyslop mmos
It's so much more fun interacting with people. Went through 80% of XIV without doing much beyond greeting and thanking people in dungeons. Turns out most do want to socialize and make friends, but they're just too shy to take the first step.
>guy killing named quest mob I need
>ask him to invite me to party so I can get credit for kill and complete quest
>he's playing with his healer gf so I can't invite him either
>there is literally no reason for him not to invite me
>ignores my repeated requests to invite me while he spends 30 seconds killing mob
>weeks later, In an endgame dungeon and the tank is asking me something
>answer him but he's acting like I'm not responding
>"oh that's weird I had you on ignore"
>realize It's the same guy
>not only did he not invite me for no reason, he put me on ignore
Frick that guy so much. Seriously what the frick is wrong with people.
You should have ignored him first
People on MMOs are extremely shit nowadays for some reason. I find it improves significantly around expansion or release times when normal people are playing, but if you stick around its only the sociopath autists you end up playing with
basically how I do, I want to play the fricking game, not interact with people
I don't need to talk to anyone.
wrong thread bro
Story of my life
