Yeah, it just gets annoying having to recall whatever is the author's pet favorite suddenly walloping you because you didn't expect something like a Granbull to just sweep because you usually have an idea of it's strength. It's also more fun to actually succeed with shitmons when they're actually shit and not just given +50 to every base stats and every move it ever needed.

Mothim in RenPlat is interesting and perfectly usable. Bug/Flying attackers have always been held back by shit stats in gen 1-4. You don't need to minmax that hard in it anyway, it's not that difficult of a game.

NTA but Mothim should be a STAB nuke, in a hypothetical where every mon has some form of niche. Tinted Lens is the only thing going for it and when working with that your best option is to give it the power it needs to be able to abuse such an ability. The bigger problem would be differentiating it from Yanmega, but the easy way to get around that is making it a physical attacking focused mon instead of a speedy special one like Yanmega currently is.

Mothim's base speed is higher and is easily available earlier. I agree a physical version would be more interesting, but Megahorn, Drill Peck, Brave Bird etc. don't make much sense on it.
