I've finished the game on ryujinx recently. There are some stutters atfer you load the area for the first time for shader compilations, but finishes quickly and it's smooth after that. And I had maybe ~two crashes per ~80h playthrough. I'd say it was a perfectly fine as far as emulator experience goes.

I tried it a while ago and one of them would run like shit independent from graphic settings and the other ran perfectly but would crash. Maybe it's been fixed by now. I can deal with the stutter from shader compilation but the lag wasn't that.

It's not bad at all. In between all the story beats there are plenty of demons to talk to and lore to read about given to you in bits and pieces. I will not pretend like it's bad to read about shit characters did off screen when you're not talking to or walking in on them.

It's annoying that it make that character practically guaranteed to dodge everything and there's no good counterplay once it's up.
4A making it just block weaknesses and introducing Magaon fixed it entirely for me

ailments. smirk doesn't grant ailment evasion and the default hit chance is absurd. they're really fricking good but get slept on because 4's damage is overtuned
even without smirk that would still happen because everything in 4 kills you in 1-3 hits. just a single press turn gained from the initial crit can result in a wipe in early game
I feel like the overtuned damage was intentional for the river styx mechanic but it's still really annoying and the only way to offset it is by grinding

There really is no source other than Doi saying right after IV he would like V's protag to be female but there is no way that would happen because the "old guard" at Atlus will never allow mainline to have a fem protag. Also V wouldn't change at all if the MC was female (not the Nahobino itself) it would actually make more sense since most of the games are male/female anyway.

The amount of people that actually go into smt games and want to get a ending blind is so incredibly small it might as well be comprised of the anal purists that pretend they don't go into an smt game already knowing what alignment they want to go for.

Majority of the time you can tell what alignment you're getting pushed into when given options. The only time you'd get surprised or "forced" is shit like in smt1 where if you enter a certain room in the main church towards the end you'll be locked into law or if you had limited options for healing because even that would change your alignment. This shit never came back in the series because people hated this shit.
Options in smt should focus on changing the story path but the ending should be something you choose because it just makes more sense that way. SMTV's fault is having a lot of choices that don't change much about the current story while also having endings you can just pick.

it's not a matter of getting around resistances since mag can just use almighty. rather it's that you lose out on exploiting weak/crit and thus the press turn and potential smirk.

You can if you thread the needle right. Skeletons on their own are technically allowed but they're really close to things that are banned. Things like dishonoring ancestry and promoting superstitions will get the skeletons banned but there are games made in China that have depictions of skeletons in them.

sure, but more demons on its own with anything else comparative gameplay-wise means the game is better
otherwise, I thing magatsuhi is a better system than smirk, but how few demons are in it makes it so plain and unexciting. and it's not even few, it has the most demons in any 3d megaten, they just feel less because you don't really go out of your way to discover them or go on fusion sprees to get to one few combinations get you. once you recruit a few demons you see everything the game has to offer. it didn't feel like this in nocturne, possibly because some demons were evolution only.
So many demons in V are unlocked by doing sidequests, it feels like you're constantly unlocking new demons and it plays into the game wanting you to explore every corner of the map. On the subject of demon evolution, the mechanic exist, well predominantly to ape Pokemon, but it exists so you have a reason to hold on to crappy demons you normally wouldn't use in the hopes they become better ones. For V you have such a strong abillity to take weak demons and make them viable the mechanic really wouldn't work, and I much prefer the new model.
there are also many mini boss quests that you could have them in your team already if you get to them later than the game intends you to. plus they are now underleveled and pushovers. I was actually nervous about getting to these quest fights overleveled because the way they balance your damage output to your comparative level difference could make them completely pointless.
On the flip side, quest recruit demons are almost always rockstars when they join you're party because they're normally much higher level. They kind of took the place of evolution demons from Nocturne.

Main issue with 4A is how many demon are pretty much fusion fodder.
I often fused demons only to immediatly fuse, and forget, them away.
I don't have any issues with demons being fusion fodders. one because most demons arent definitive fusion fodders, on another play through someone might end up using them, and two because being fusion fodder is itself a utility
sure I like the way V made demons pass experience so fusion a demon you've been using for long would be much more meaningful, but this kinda pushes over specializing your demons which I don't think is good. learning to utilize demons who are good enough on the run in an unexpected encounter or when a boss obliterated half your team in the previous turn is half the fun of these games for me.
I personally was using my stock demons all the time in V. Since every demon can swap, and swap is only a half Press Turn its almost FFX levels of useful to just switch your party instead of making jack of all trades and swap in when demons die instead of reviving.
Not really that more fun but the characters are way better which goes a long way

I love the atmosphere in V, feels really comfy just running through Tokyo exploring the ruins while demons dick around and lie in wait. The game feels simultaneously menacing and warm and inviting, it makes you feel like even though the world's gone to shit Beano loves being there. I don't think the re-release will go out of their way to change that, if anything they'll probably just more demons, a new area or two and give team chaos a few more cutscenes.
