Again? Why? I purchased it for my PSP off of PSN on March 31st, 2011 and I finished it July 17th, 2011. After getting into Falcom with the trio of Ys games released late 2010 & early 2011 I expected greatness from breasts FC and instead got a rather bland jrpg with no sense of adventure - only getting railroaded from one place to the next. The menus were abysmal and slow, and speaking of slow... good god were battle animations slow. The game also had the worst camera I've experienced in a jrpg since Xenogears. Also it seemed to me that Falcoms Z team must've been on duty for the soundtrack cause it was miserably forgetable when compared to Ys.
And you know what? I'm stupid. So I *have* played breasts FC a second time. I finished it Oct. 16th, 2015, just two weeks prior to breasts SC release on PSP, which I bought and also played through. I finished that bugged & error ridden mess Dec. 12th, 2016. Picture fricking related btw.
And you know how I said I was dumb? Because I am. I bought breasts the 3rd Day 1 on Steam. That game was so abysmal that I legitimately took 2 years (and some eventual save file editting) to finish it.
So don't you fricking tell me to play Trails in the Sky OP. Been there. Done that. Never again.
breasts SC on an actual PSP? Yeah. It works. Though as just 4 screenshots (out of many I took back in the day) the game has issues. Hell, it hardlocked on me once. Did you never notice that any time somebody had "Oh" in their dialogue, that any dialogue which would come after it did not display? Gobs and gobs of (dry, dull dialogue) gone into the ether never to be read.

breasts on the PSP is buggy and unfinished. The definitive experience is on Steam.
>breasts on the PSP is buggy and unfinished.
And yet they sold it to PSP owners like me who wanted to continue/finish the saga we'd started almost 5 years prior. On the same hardware, in the same format, and no strings attached ease of carrying over our saves from the first game.
OK. I'm gonna do it with the Evo versions on my hacked Vita.
Which should I use, the original soundtrack or the new tracks?
I love to plat' my games, but this seems like a fricking mad chore to get the platinum trophy.
100hours game save, finishing the game on Nightmare, another playthrough where the party needs to be low level, all monsters registered, all treasures etc.
What the frick.
I was considering when to start the series, because I'm still waiting for Azure to be available on the Vita with the geofront patch. I don't know if they're still working on it, hopefully they do. But there was some exclusive content on the Vita version (Evolution) that needs to be translated compared to the PSP version.
So anyway, I'm gonna try the Sky trilogy before Crossbell.
>Which should I use, the original soundtrack or the new tracks?
I just recently listened to both soundtracks side by side and I'd say the Evo version is significantly better. While the original soundtrack is only comprised of midi sounds, the Evo version features more full arrangements with real strings and acoustic guitar. They even got a real chromatic harmonica on the track Hoshi no Arika and If you listen closely you can even hear the slide being pushed in: https://youtu.be/kQPzdZLwg6w
Amber Amour is the only track to me that seems a bit worse. The piano player is talented, but he overplays the piece to the point of the original melody being lost, but I'll let you be the judge.

Already have bro. My only regret is rushing through Sky3 since I couldn't be bothered to change out my party many times and backtrack to specific doors.

Estelle is written with girly moments though. They're mainly relegated to her pining for Joshua or other characters teasing her about Joshua, but she does act like a girl.

This is unironically wrong and you didn't play the game. It's even worse than that and is another case of severe Rean wank.
She hates Rean because she's mad at herself for not being able to thank him for saving her and her brother and sister while the Calvardian/Erebonian war over Crossbell was happening.
You know the same war where every character in the cast of Cold Steel must iterate how amazing Rean was during it and how he never killed a single Calvardian soldier because he would katana-slice open their vehicles and take them out before blowing up the machine.
I did. It was tiresome and did nothing that grandia and final fantasy didn't already do a hundred times better and a decade earlier.
You guys are as bad as journalists:
-If a game has a black person in it, journos give it 10/10.
-If a game has a pair of anime breasts in it, you guys give it 10/10.
It's honestly pretty sad. It's cool in Sky that you see her just kind of casually toss that fact out, and you even see her going toe to toe with Richard.
The letter Yun writes to Rean is one of the most embarrassing parts of Cold Steel, which is saying a lot. Literally an entire scene that's set up just to have one of the most legendary characters in the series go "Rean, you are truly the master hokage and will be the single one of all my disciples to truly understand my teachings. Go forth and save the world."
It's even more damning when we've come across multiple Eight Leaves practitioners and all of them are more interesting than Rean. Even deadpan Arios at least betrayed the protagonists in a big twist.
I don't know why but at some point I thought she was primed to become the / an MC of whatever the next arc would've been at the time. Clearly Falcom forgot about her around the same time they'd forgot they could have FeMCs.
How did kondo get away with copying code geass coming from someone who hasn't watched it, Seeing the guy in the opening 1 of R2 sucker punched the hell out of me
I actually just started the other day, up to SC now. Most soulful game I've played in a while. Just wish I could carry over my money and recipes from the first game.
Played first two and enjoyed it immensely. I heard the third is just dungeon delving....
Should I keep going? Play the third and then the steel games?
Are they comfy?
The third is the best game in the series. Play Kevin’s fricking game. Then play the two crossbell games. And then play cold steel but only if you really want to.
Both crossbell games are pretty comfy but as much as sky. Coldsteel is absolutely souless.

Its not like they can go back to being secret and mysterious, especially after their laughable outing in SC in which they were basically *evil party member counterpart*. This series writers have all the subtlety of a rock, so there's no long game they could attempt to obscure some random character actually being a baddie for one, much less multiple games, to have a shocking but "oh yeah..." reveal several games down the line.
I regret leaving all the doors except the Tita one to the end of 3rd Chapter because now I need to sit through 10 hours of cutscenes before doing the final dungeon
I've been pretty over the games ever since I theorized that the series is pulling a drawn out Star Ocean 3. Also canonically not winning boss fights till the last game of the series really sucked
I took a break from these games, stopped in SC when I had to look for that purple haired girl and accidently lost my save data. I don't know of it's worth playing again. Might watch a recap just to play the third game

Because this series is very unique in what it tries to do. Only Suikoden attempted to do something similar, but failed horribly, as we all know. So, naturally, there will be enthusiasts fascinated by the idea, and normalgays that are opposed to anything that is not exactly like something they already know.

I just hit the reverie corridor and holy frick is it what I think it is? endless grind&padding?

You can literally fast travel to the entrance of every door. What do you mean backtrack?
Straight to the door itself? I know you can fast-travel to the general area the door resides in.
Oh please don't make me feel like a moron who missed a menu for this.
You can fast travel to every door, on the same menu as fast traveling to the other locations you just select a door instead
Yes. You can fast travel straight to the doors themselves. All of them.
You can literally fast travel to any door moron kun
Imagine playing 3rd but not doing the only thing that makes it worth playing, lmao
I ran back manually for most of them at least... haha...
I did, the 3 of them, they were awesome.
I don't play censored games.
I dont play rpgs unless I can choose the love interest
There could be a million other girls and Estelle would still be the best one.
>on that day, anon chose to speak the truth

???
The love interests are Joshua and Olivier.
Gonna emulste the trilogy on ppsspp, japanese version.
What am I in for?
If you're playing the games without turbo they'll take twice as long and they're already pretty long
I want to. Will someone in this thread say what they like about it though? I need a push
do it for the sassy treasure chests
It doesn't really say that in Japanese. It says 宝箱には何も入っていない, literally "there's nothing in this chest."
Each chest gets a quip when you check on it after you open it. I guess that's special for the English version?
Yeah, just something the "translators" added to spice it up.
It's a running localization gag. They're shitty jokes, smile a little
soulless
>JRPG
Why would I play a game that isn't fun?
There are multiple ways for a game to be fun.
Being completely serious, the fun in Trails is not from the gameplay, and Sky isn't even a coomer game.
>make a generic male mc
>call it a girl
If Estelle didn't have breasts no one on Ganker would give even a single shit about "her" game(s).
>make a generic male mc
Estelle is written with girly moments though. They're mainly relegated to her pining for Joshua or other characters teasing her about Joshua, but she does act like a girl.
Estelle is girly when she wants to. She's not a turbobawd or sexless Mandroid. She is herself.
Cute!!!
>shitposters still claim they didn't frick while traveling for all that time
They absolutely did not
We see that they've never even kissed.
Old Falcom might have had them frick but nu-Falcom confirmed they haven't as of CS4.

Can i use mods on steam deck.
Try it out. It’s an open system so there’s nothing stopping you.
don't you have a pc
I have an old laptop that turns into a tablet. I might just get a Steam Deck tbh.
the game was made in 2004, I would be surprised if it couldn't run it
I did. It was tiresome and did nothing that grandia and final fantasy didn't already do a hundred times better and a decade earlier.

Putting 6 babies in Feena!!
I am forgotten
Does the show up post-Sky? I remember the Cold Steel guy had the same sword style or something so they could always tie-in through that I guess.
Only at CSIV, and even then, just art.
Dunno. I still have to finish Sky 3rd, but I never hear anyone talk about her at all.
Finished these games years ago but love them dearly. Now I'm waiting for Kuro to get on PC
I remember her sometimes, but I always forget she's supposed to be a pretty big deal
Her name isn't Aprettybigdeal, it's Anelace.
Frick, got it wrong again

well maybe she should have been better with the sword than me, bet she didn't think of that huh
Hajimari is the best game in the series but EOPs and Skyboomers will tell you otherwise
Has any scene in the entire Trails series topped this one?
I can’t believe Estelle fricked Chrom
Not even the best scene in the game shippergay.
Literally any Rufus scene in Hajimari. The ONLY good protag since Kevin
How did kondo get away with copying code geass coming from someone who hasn't watched it, Seeing the guy in the opening 1 of R2 sucker punched the hell out of me
the scene where laura rapes rean in a cave
Nah not planning on replaying any trails until Lloyd’s games get their official release. You skybros have a good time though.
I actually just started the other day, up to SC now. Most soulful game I've played in a while. Just wish I could carry over my money and recipes from the first game.
Any tips or tricks?
Playing it right now, absolute kino
I did, it's a painfully average slog with a few diehard fans shilling it.
It's still a good game but easily the worst of the three.
Kevin is a good Mc and 3rd is not terribly long. Despite coming before Crossville games it sets up a lot for cold steel too
Hm, if it's not too long, I guess I could. I might pirate it though, it NEVER goes on big enough of a sale.
The 3rd's much more compact when it comes to exploration, but that's because the game's about watching a bunch of sidestories to expand on all (and I mean pretty much ALL) the characters from Sky, so if you liked the characters, you'll like the 3rd. I will say that it is different, not just in terms of the gameplay/exploration design, but it's a much darker, grim tale, because Estelle (the 'light') of the group isn't front and center for this story.

Reminder that Xseed Estelle isn't canon
Already did. Sadly Cold Steel III filtered me so hard I don't think I actually care about the series anymore.
>getting filtered at the second best game in the series
lol how did you even get passed CS2 that game was legit dogshit
II is also boring but summoning Valimar was fun.
That said, this is easily the most boring subseries, so much filler and the storytelling and pacing is so fricking slow, even by the series standards.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel (2013) > The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky FC
This except unironically
FC has literally the best “villain” in the series which puts it above coldshit 1 buy itself. have a nice day.
His motives were actually correct but he was still being mind controlled by the bigger bad
>Motive is that a woman is unfit to rule
Based, and all we need to know about why Sky is better than Steel.
>best villain
How about post actual villain
Thinking about villains, I despise what CS did with ouroborous. Everything is just a haha powerlevel dick measuring contest
That shit started with SC though
Yes but cs keeps doing it over and over like it's not gone out of style
They laid that foundation since SC, why would their epic mystery homies objective change
it makes sense to do that in your first couple of games, it doesn't make sense to keep repeating the same shit for 10+ games

Because Estelle is the alpha in the relationship
I regret leaving all the doors except the Tita one to the end of 3rd Chapter because now I need to sit through 10 hours of cutscenes before doing the final dungeon
FC is the best btw. Actual 10/10 game.
I've been pretty over the games ever since I theorized that the series is pulling a drawn out Star Ocean 3. Also canonically not winning boss fights till the last game of the series really sucked

What's the difference between Trails and The Legend of Heroes series? Is it like a Persona thing where the spinoff became more popular than the original.
Nothing really. The gameplay in Trails in the Sky is the same as the previous games. It's just the stupid 'Trails' title that stuck.
The Legend of Heroes is the overall series, the original 5 are really old and baiscally ignored at this point with Trails in the Sky being the 6th game in the series and the first of 3 games in the Sky arc

I played the first game shortly after it released on PC. Never got around to playing the second and now I can barely remember anything from the first. Don't really want to replay it though

And then you got the fans who love everything from Sky to Azure but despise what became of it later for Cold Steel.
It's up in the air where the latest ones fit but there are a few fans praising it as a return to form.
>Didn't really like Hajimari's story
>Not sure how to feel about Kuro after hearing anons talk about female Rean but better in every single way
Still looking forward to play Kuro later this month, but not sure what to think about the upcoming story arc
But Kuro is only coming out on steam in chongese.
While that's true, the Zerofield translation for Kuro (PS4) has been out for some time so I'm just hoping for someone to slap that on the PC release
Ah, I guess it's always only a matter of time with PC versions.
waiting to get my deck then I'm finally gonna play it
Cold steel is much better.
I started hajimari since kuro is coming to PC next month
I just hit the reverie corridor and holy frick is it what I think it is? endless grind&padding?
Your prison, for all eternity
Already did. And it's great to see her in the sequel,BEstelle was the best part of CS4.
It was nice seing Renne in Kuroµ.
Reminder that Estelle has been in every arc so far, and it's only a matter of time before she travels to Calvard to visit her daughter.
Hope we get Anelace, and a scene between her and Estelle.
What kind of scene?
Hot lesbian sex
>Anelace possibly gay for Estelle
Gal's got taste.
Dropped it in the first chapter of FC. Honestly, Kiseki franchise is one of the most terrible jrpg I've ever seen.
i just started the other day. playing it on PSP, hearing in this thread its buggy. hope i wont run into too big of a trouble.
why is it only on PC? switch/playstation ever?
Falcom were PC developers before they lost their way
After Kuro no Kiseki is out on PC, are they gonna fan translate it?
It's already translated
