I think this is one of my biggest issues with Part 2, I don't really care about any of the new characters, and it feels like their motives are a mystery (although it could just be fujimoto doing a really, REALLY slow burn) or they don't do shit (like what the frick is Fumiko doing?) I'm not even gonna go "WHERE'S REZE/KISHIBE/KOBENI" despite being a Rezegay but the new characters aren't as interesting to me so far.

That is the exact opposite of what happened in Naruto, and ironically Kishi would have been better off if he also followed this formula. Because the alternative is what we've got right now: Sasuke and Sakura and Naruto were on the same team for like 6 months tops before he betrays the village and goes to work for a literal evil villain who killed the fricking hokage, and Sakura and Naruto spend the rest of the series pining for his wiener, talking about how "I've never loved anyone more than you" and "we are brothers, BFF forever", when it's like b***h, I've known you for half a year, who the frick do you think you are: I don't fricking know you like that. None of their motivations make sense because they weren't given time to develop as a team between the hidden mist mission and the chunnin exams. The entire story falls apart when you consider the time frames.

the Reze arc was my favorite arc in Part 1 so I definitely want to see it at some point even if I never watched the anime.
