>Ichiban cries once in his debut game >gets branded a crybaby >Saejima cries at least three times in his debut chapter >
Kiryu is the one who's done all the crying in the last two games as well.
>cries once
he cries MANY MANY MANY times in party chat and he also does that gay anime "YATTA!!!" shit frequently. Worst of all though is that hes underused. Y7 is boring, barely about any Yakuza, and focussed on some gay made up cartoon crime organizations of korean crossbow hitmen who steal all of yokohamas electricity, chinese animal people, and the remains of the yakuza who are all gays with no presence. Earlier Yakuza games felt planned, Y7 seems like it was improvised in many ways, though in fairness Y6 shows some of these same trappings
It's main story isn't just bad, it does nothing to advance Ichi as a character, and actively undermines previous storylines. I honestly think I would have enjoyed the game more if I HAD been spoiled, as I would have taken my time doing literally everything else in the game instead of doing main story missions hoping the game would get better.
the final fight was pretty mild tbh and the ending was pretty meh, maybe i was hyped for something more impactful but they kinda played it safe if you ask me
Shit, now I'm considering watching the whole main story now and just buy the game on sale later
no the game is SUPER fun, just the first yakuza game to have a shittier story than gameplay
id do the opposite, get the game and ignore the story after chapter 8 (the first half is alright)

3 has one of the best stories, it's literally THE most important game to understand Kiryu's story you fricking useless moronic b***h ass weak ass googoogaga uptight b***h ass homie
the story is in line with majority of the series. Only 3, 6, 7 and 0 have better than average stories.
the gameplay is really fun, and theres a lot of great character interactions, which as usual, carries the entire narrative.
Yakuza 8 needed a shit ton of nuance it didn't end up having, has terribly used and set in scene villains, is horribly paced and feels as if it misses an absolute frick ton of scenes, somehow.
I felt the Japan side of the plot was fine, dumb motivation but I get what they were going for. It’s not that much worse than other dumb plots in the series.
The Hawaii side has way too many loose ends to the point where it became annoying, even by yakuza standards I felt they got incredibly lazy about pretty much everything related to the plot and the massive fallout that should have come out of it .
Its ok, the main thing I hate is the hawaii setting. Im a fricking weeb who visited japan multiple times and yakuza always gave me that fix. I don’t want to walk around in some generic looking town (that doesn’t look like Honolulu a single bit) and speak with npc’s who don’t behave like actual americans
ey guess what
This game did that for nips with hawaii and they loved it, completely reversal of what y7 made in japan. also rgg team has been wanting to do this for a good long while. expect more if this shit.
I genuinely don't understand all the vitriol. It has some moronic contrivances and other nonsensical bullshit but what Yakuza game doesn't? Aside from the ending falling a bit flat, I actually think the story is pretty good on the whole
>Judgment
I find it funny how Y8 and LJ both improved their gameplay from their predecessors immensely but also downgraded their stories, Judgment 3 is going to be a clear indicator of how Y9 will turn out
this. Sega is so fricking stupid theyll >spend a billion dollars making the worst fricking engine on earth, and then dump it >go to court over this stupid JOHNNY agency shit, going to hell and back just for some farted out already existing pc port, and then drop it >introduce a new Protag for yakuza, to have him do fricking nothing not once but twice. >give kiryu cancer for dramatic weight, and then ignore it/cure him over the next 4 games (hes supposed to be sunset btw)
No idea if you're here but ignore Esper Ito. He's not required for the completion list and gives you absolutely nothing for completing his requirements. His shogi AI is also grandmaster tier, it took SpearShogi (A grandmaster level AI) over 280 something turns to beat him.
>dub >Nanba
The worst part is that dub Nanba (In 7 at least) completely ruins him as a character. He acts like a complete butthole constantly and his tone is always of complaining or not wanting to do anything while JP Nanba is just playing stuff down or going along with stuff after being convinced and in general is a pretty alright dude. It completely changes the character for no reason. His Baka Mitai is great though.

Oh yeah, I was just doing it for fun. I don't plan to do all of the Esper Ito stuff unless it makes some stuff easier to complete.

Yeah but at the same time, the dub performance isn't responsible for Nanba flipping on you on a dime for a brother we never even get to see and the only reason he doesn't frick off forever is because of one of Ichi's POWER OF FRIENDSHIP speeches. I didn't like Greg Chun's performance in 7 compared to 8 either, but he was a duplicitious butthole in 7 regardless of language.
>m-m-m-muh coin locker baby!!!!!
You homosexuals pretend to love Japan so much then turn around and b***h about this when it's: 1) blatantly inspired by a popular Japanese novel, and 2) actually a thing that used to happen in Japan all the time (babies getting left in coin lockers)
NG+. The AGI buffing items are all either from safes or crowned enemies, and in general you're better off using the Black Belt/God's Keystone/Dragon God's Eye items than the insoles since the overall buffs are better than just a straight AGI buff.
what kind of shit does RGG keep doing to make these standout remixes/tracks? i mean not all of 8's ost is my favorite but i don't outright hate any of the tracks
Nanba got such a glow up in 8 that it's crazy to see how he was in 7 compared to this. He was just boring and not really that interesting in 7 but in 8 he's honestly fantastic.
I didn't really felt how people called Tomi as Nanba 2.0 but then he starts saying how he used to be a homeless kek. That's still such a stupid and unnecessary twist in 7
tomi is nanba but without the moronic brother twist, so i like him slightly more. although im not too bothered that we will likely not see tomi again as he will stay in hawaii
the thing I hate most about Nanba's "i was pretending to be a homeless" was so fricking unnecessary, he could've just easily been a homeless for years and is now trying to save his brother
>Download a mod that lets you use dlc sujimon on sujimancer >Instantly goes from the worst class in the game to the best
Why don't they let you use dlc sujimon without mods?
>Why don't they let you use dlc sujimon without mods?
Because they give the same stat buff as Kiwamis so you just skip the entire Sujimon pipeline. They are cheat characters but they clearly want some restrictions.
I really doesn't wanna create another thread so i ask here. I hardly beat Yakuza 0 because press xy to win gameplay make me puke. Which parts of Yakuza i should try with one hit kill cheat if i wanna experience good side quests? As far as i understand another games main story sucks compare to Zero.
>Kiryu introduces himself to Kashiwagi as Tachi Suzuki despite them both knowing who they both are and both having quivering mouths wanting to say something but know they can't. >Meanwhile Seonhee just immediately blurts out he's the Dragon of Dojima and "Kiryu-san" the instant Kashiwagi asks her in her Drink Link, and Kashiwagi implies he's been listening in on the whole conversation where he was the Fourth Chairman and all that.
They really aren't good at being consistent with this, are they? Gaiden feels like a fluke because they were consistent with it there even into things like the karaoke minigame.
If you don't like the general gameplay of 0 then the series isn't going to be for you in general. The only difference between 0 and the other games is the style system and having years of mechanical and writing experience behind their backs. 6 has some great substories as does Judgment, 7, and Lost Judgment. 8's got a couple good ones but they're just okay and not really anything to write home about. Kenzan's got some funny and sweet substories but you need to read a translation of them so that's that. >As far as i understand another games main story sucks compare to Zero.
No.
>then the series isn't going to be for you in general
That's why i want go straight to 7 and 8, but after 0 im not sure i wanna miss all sidequest and mini games stuff.
8 doesn't really work if you haven't played the previous games. Ichiban is a side character in his own game and every single bit of Kiryu's content is Memberberries from other games both in main story content and substories from those games.
It's up to you how you want to do this but to me it sounds like you're more about the stories than anything else when most of the attraction is the whole package.
i did. in fact, i literally just finished it last week. took me around 70 hours in a span of like a month and a half. was playing other games inbetween. did a decent amount of the side missions.
its funny because going into it, i was warned about some crazy difficulty spike in the later half of the game but honestly, didnt have any issues at all with the game. kinda wondering where this supposed difficulty spike happens. im guessing maybe the majima fight? but the only different thing i had to do with that fight was actually use my support skills and swap some characters out.
kinda want to do that post game dungeon but im kinda burnt out on the game right now. was thinking of jumping right into man who erased his name but i think ill hold off for now.
>im guessing maybe the majima fight?
Yes. If you skipped the Battle Arena which they tell you three times to do you just get bodied by both of them as doing it without that requires items like rocket launchers, specific jobs (Hero Ichiban, Idol Saeko, Enforcer Han, and I can't remember who they usually use as the fourth but I think it's Clerk Eri?), and a specific strategy of who heals and who chucks items or Essences at them. Sounds to me like you did the Battle Arena if you had minimal trouble. >kinda want to do that post game dungeon
FMT you can do immediately after beating the final boss, it's only as hard as the final boss. TFMT you need at bare minimum one job that's going to fight at 99 and one job for stats at 99 if you want to deal with it comfortably with is roughly 5-6 hours of grinding hobos on top of the ultimate weapon for each of those jobs at EX.
>but to me it sounds like you're more about the stories than anything else when most of the attraction is the whole package
i'm just ok with fast modern jrpg style then with any kind of beat em up games.
Kiryu and Kashiwagi are both keeping up appearances.
No one in the party gives a single a frick about maintaining Kiryu's low profile until it's suddenly important that they hush up about it.
Yeah, I know, I just wish they were consistent about it because you have Nanba in his DL blabbing about "Kiryu-san" and "His fists are legendary" to a random guy while Seonhee here is just casually blurting out his entire history to a guy they're trying to lie to. Why even bother with the obfuscation after that around Kashiwagi? From their perspective he already knows who "Taichi Suzuki" really is so there's no reason at all to keep up appearances anymore.
>but to me it sounds like you're more about the stories than anything else when most of the attraction is the whole package
i'm just ok with fast modern jrpg style then with any kind of beat em up games.
The JRPGs aren't fast until endgame and in general battles last longer than a typical battle in the brawlers up until that point. 8 at least lets you Smackdown if you're something like 10 levels higher so you can ignore combat.
Dude it's just their Japanese courtesy/politeness, it's like how no one calls you out when you make those embarrassing "kiryu x haruka seggs :DDDD" posts with your trip off even though everyone know it's you.
What's withY7 bringing all these characters back from the dead anyway? Kashiwagi got riddled with high caliber bullets and died on screen. Lau Ka Long got shot in the fricking head. But they all got better. It felt a bit like an easter egg in 7, but 8 really hammers in home by having Kiryu meet everyone.
Looks like 1.16 just came out a few minutes ago. Took us a day for us to get patch notes for 1.15 so who knows what it did.
I think they're just doing it as a joke considering Wesker is also back from the dead in 8. I'm half expecting Mine to be back in 9 since now they have Wesker to fall back on as to why he's alive though the mock funeral they had to promote 8 had him dead. At the very least guys like Rikiya, Shinji, and Nishiki seem to be 100% dead since they're part of the recollections whereas guys like Kashiwagi aren't.
It kinda made sense in Y7 because the Ijin3 stalemate made Yokohama a DMZ safe-haven for the underworld, so all these survivors would eventually find their way there and gather all in one place.
sorry to break it to you, but it doesn't get that much better after 0. Judging from your lack of grammar skills, I'd say you wouldn't be able to appreciate the main story, nor the side content of this series.
And I hate to say this, but the action combat in this series is an acquired taste, you find enjoyment in it by playing around with the mechanics and finding your own way of having fun.
You want my suggestion? Go play 7 and 8, never look back, just pretend that the rest of the series doesn't exist
think the worst part about this scene is that the plot point is never brought up again. At no other point in the entire game does he even interact with another woman, other than Yasuko. Saejima can’t even go to the Hostess Clubs in that game. 25 years of never seeing a woman brought up, considered, and resolved in this one 20 second bit of the game.
If they were making kiwami 3 they would have done it before they shat up the dragon engine with useless spaghetti code so that they could make a turn based rpg in it
And it felt like shit because they shat up the engine with useless spaghetti code to get a turn based jrpg to work in the engine

I didn't play lost judgement because i bought it on PS4 and a week later they released a PS5 version separately so i had my bank charge back the purchase and then sony banned my account. I sold my ps5 to some mexican moron for $1500 and bought a gaming pc and haven't looked back
>those black, soulless dragon engine eyes
Thank you for attending my lecture on why 6 and beyond is not canon and takes place in an alternate universe. Remaking the games at all was a bad idea. They should have ported the original 1&2 to later consoles with higher resolution and a better framerate like they did for the PS3 release. But of course, there's not so much money to be made in that.
I've been farming Hawaii Haunt EX sector for Fins and job armors, is there any reason i should farm the Robomichio sentai too? Still lvl 52 and can't comfortably wipe them yet.
i did. in fact, i literally just finished it last week. took me around 70 hours in a span of like a month and a half. was playing other games inbetween. did a decent amount of the side missions.

Did they seriously reuse the side quests from yakuza 1 where a girl tries to drug you with free alcohol? Except this time ichiban is moronic and falls for it
the story and characters were very good and carry the whole game. i had high expectations for how rggs would adapt the gameplay to turn based but instead they did the most generic barebones jrpg combat i've played in years and i'm not even a jrpg buff.
for what little i've seen 8 seems to have improved to some degree, not sure how much.
8 improved it significantly and addressed almost all of the complaints. The main issue now is how easy it is to get overleveled if you don't ignore all the side content until endgame, but the problem is all the rewards from said content are mainly for early game. I've been overleveled by a minimum of 10-15 levels since chapter 3 on basically every character just because I've been doing side content.
Im playing yakuza 8 and never played 7 (no kiryu no play) why isnt kiryu shitting his pants over ichiban having a dragon on his back after that whole pride thing in yakuza 2 about there only being room for one dragon
That was a dick measuring contest with Ryuji, I wouldn't take that seriously at all because Shibusawa pulled the same thing. He holds Ichiban in high regards as a person and 8 just adds to that.
>Kiryu seems to be sort of close to Shin Amon in 7 >Jo is basically a skin crawler in 8, looking exactly like Shin >Kiryu doesn't even bat an eye, instantly recognizes him as Jo
Shin has already been in 3 games, who in RGG let this mistake slide?
They give you their shades in a couple games so it's not that.
I'm missing like 5 Sujimon from my dossier and I haven't the slightest clue where I could get them. Been flipping through raids for like 4 hours now and they don't appear and the ones I know can be found as random encounters never drop the suji when I beat them. Hurry up with the guide CyricZ.

Gotta learn how to search Japanese wikis because English ones are constantly missing stuff or are way less specific. This is still missing some locations for some of them but hopefully it helps.

Aaaaiiiiieee kasuga-samma i kneel prease impregnate my adopted daughter
Kiryu is totally on the Saeko x Ichiban train, her entire bond is him going "Yeah, but what about Ichiban?"
>Judgment 3
Didn't they say it will never be made?
No, they said if they couldn't port the games to PC they'd have a harder time justifying the costs leading to the series potentially dying. The games have been ported to PC. The main issue now is with Johnny's and Kimura but I'm pretty sure Kimura getting a new agency will fix that issue.
>Started playing Yakuza with Kiwami 1 because it was included in PS Plus >Moved on to Kiwami 2 because I really liked the dragon engine ragdoll stuff (and because I tried the PS2 version and couldn't get into it) >Then played Judgment >Started 0 but only got to like Chapter 3 before pausing it for another game >Started playing 7 and got to like the midpoint but was got bored of the combat so I dropped it for a long while >moved on to Lost Judgment anyway but also stopped playing that for a while because I had other stuff coming out >now I'm trying to push myself to beat both and move on to 0

Have you tried doing all the Hawaiian crowned bosses (twice)? I only managed to get the white suit mafia guy and some others only from there. The King Joe fights didn't spawn him for recruitment though.
That might be it because the ones I'm missing are in dungeons according to this

(thanks) and I know you can't recruit them from there.
So some things about 8's story are not completely clear to me yet:
1) Ichiban's character assassination and subsequent losing of his job were NOT originally part of some great keikaku and Ebina just jumped to opportunism, right? Since Ichiban lost his job BEFORE Akane went missing /ran away with Lani IIRC.
2) So did Dwight know that she was on his side during the district five raid or was he not clued in to that thing? Also in retrospect it's really funny that her not betraying Ichiban there (if that was even ever in the cards and not just part of some plan to endear her to him) was just to save her own skin from Eiji.
Everything about the letter is kind of moronic, whether it be the plot point itself or the characters' logic surrounding it. Like the characters literally go "it must have been a scheme to fire Ichi to get him to Hawaii!!!" when that happened a fricking month ago
No, it's the Lani/Akane stuff that had nothing to do with Ebina's plan. Sawashiro legitimately wanted Ichi to go meet his mom but had no idea the bullshit she'd gotten swept up in. Dwight knew everything because he was in Bryce's pocket. Cheeto was meant to fake a betrayal which then lead into a fake redemption when she betrayed Dwight, which was meant to get Ichi to trust her even more.
I haven’t played 7 and 8 yet, and its been years since I finished 6. Do the cop and those other 2 dudes from yakuza 4 ever come back in 7, 8 or gaiden? I liked those homies
Tanimura is only ever mentioned in Dead Souls and 5's Amon plotline until one minor thing in 8. Date doesn't even mention he was supposed to be working with him in any game after 4.
Minami has never made an appearance nor been mentioned and has gone the way of Nishida as someone Majima knows.
Kido has never made an appearance nor been mentioned.
I strongly doubt that. I can see them trying to either make judgment 3 jif they can get kimura back (a-list celeb and huge get and all that) or another spin off.
Anyways, kiwami 3 aint happening. Yokoyama is on record about not wanting to make anymore remakes.
Anyone else think the skills are still somewhat uninteresting? Mask of Punishment, Korean back attack moves, Substitution Jutsu are the only ones with something unique about them.
They seemingly focused on making normal attacks good (which they achieved, the different variations / combo movies / back attacks / etc are all very fun).
>lost judgment flopped >ishin flopped >Gaiden flopped >Infinite wealth became the fastest selling game in the franchise despite having numerous hit pieces written about it by game journos in the week leading up to launch because they were too moronic to watch tokyo game show 4 months earlier
Lost Judgment sold 76% more than Judgment did in the west, and that's a game that was the first one they told us sold an actual million so they must be happy with LJ sales.
We have no numbers for Ishin Kiwami and they've never talked about it.
Gaiden not only did not flop, but it sold amazingly well and shocked them.
https://automaton-media.com/en/interviews/20231225-24821/ >Yokoyama: Yes, domestic sales this time around are astonishing, I can really feel the series’ popularity reigniting in Japan. Gaiden might be our best-selling title in recent times. >Yokoyama: It doubled my expectations. Frankly, up until the release, I wasn’t that confident in Gaiden in terms of sales.
8 was given constant attention, got multiple multi-minute long trailers at massive Microsoft events, and in general was pushed heavily in marketing more than any other game since 7. Of course it did well.
>Infinite wealth became the fastest selling game in the franchise despite having numerous hit pieces written about it by game journos in the week leading up to launch
But journos did nothing but praise it and call it the best game in the series
Sidenote but I hate that Kiryu is super aware of who Andorre Richardoson is in 8. I know the whole.theme is redemption and all that jazz, but still. The guy tried to murder his """"son"""".
How do you guys remember all these characters? Maybe Im a brainlet but I literally can’t remember a single character or plotline from 3 till 0. I can barely remember the plot of 7. Do you guys look that shit up or actually go: >random guy walks in >”yooo that’s akira nishiyama the third patriarch of the saiwajima clan who betrayed nagatomo ayase back in yakuza 2”
Its not like they've been leveraging bit players like Taneshiro or whatver the other guy was called that got shot in the head in 3 or Saito from 4 or something, they've been bringing important and / or otherwise recurring characters back.
>haruka is the biggest frick up in out of all the orphans >everyone else lives a decent life now
Was she always just moronic or did Kiryu just frick up raising her?
Little bit of column a, little bit of column b.
She made the dumbest of her choices when she was away from him for extended periods of time, but you could argue that they were all influenced by him and the way he faces life (or doesn't, as he runs away all the time).
The whole language situation was really handled poorly, the language barrier was a problem only for the intro, after that everyone in the main story or substory spoke japanese, even the kids who at that age never had a way to come in contact with the japanese language in any meaningful capacity.
This was almost impossible and relied heavily on RNG to get him to spam Leaping Gazelle early on in addition to him picking guys with full health over damaged party members. Genuinely can't believe I was even close to his level range so I decided to give it a go after I didn't die in one hit. Jawbone Clutch does like 200 more damage than Leaping Gazelle in addition to the AGI buff.
If you're dumb like me and wanted to beat this before NG+ then you absolutely need Malodorous Stench on Nanba, Scum Scraper on both girls, Substitution Jutsu on the girls so they can swap to either Nanba, Kiryu, or your Tennis Ace user (For me it was Saeko). I didn't have it on Saeko so it was a big mess but I was too stubborn to change my loadout for the tenth time and do the run back. Essence of Showboating is also mandatory both for damage and the party-wide DEF buff. Having the 7* Tennis Ace outfit also helped greatly as it allowed attack buffs to allow Wicked Wall Drills to deal over 1100 damage once he's got a tier 3 DEF debuff. Most importantly, you have to ignore healing party members most of the time unless two or three are going to die. The person Amon focuses on is usually who he'll attack, so you can force that with Scum Scraper/Malodorous Stench if you need to. Don't use expensive summons, I used Asakura and he did like 300 damage more than a fully powered Nancy & Olivia even with a tier 3 DEF debuff.
It's also really dumb that the entirety of how Kiryu is explaining him makes no sense because none of what he's saying is true and they act like 7 didn't happen at the same time. It's like he forgot they wanted to assassinate him multiple times because they were hired to do it and then went after him after that because he kept beating their unbeatable clan. Now it's a reputation thing? 0 and the Kiwamis implied it was about "Muh strength" so what's the deal?
I'm still in chapter 8 so uh, it's better than 7 so far? Everyone says it goes downhill after the end of this chapter though so I'm waiting to see why.
Yeah the story is, I don't even know what to make of it. It's a mix of weird motivations, self contradictory elements of the plot and a burning desire to fan service the whole thing a bit too much.
Judgement, 1, 7, and maybe 0 are the only good games. I also assume the first PSP game is decent since they've proven they can tell really good entry game stories for their characters.
>ichi runs for mayor the game >good
0-4 are excellent
5 is dogshit
6 is serviceable
rpgshit is failure to launch. 7 opens ichis story and 8 immediately after shows they have no idea what theyre doing and the series has no further direction
Id be okay with that but its way too late to give a shit now and adding(soon to be removed) cancer is too little too late. Had they kept kiryu disappeared after 6 it would have at least been over. but bringing kiryu back in 7 and then center staging him again in 8 is so stupid I cant believe in anything anymore. Especially given how shit kiryus intro is in 7. You just bump into him, hes supposedly on assignment but thats about all there is to it......whack
1. why was aizawa fighting to the death over his dead aniki in the coliseum....
2. why does the mastermind expect saejima and kiryu to fight to the death....
these are glaring plotholes
>why was aizawa fighting to the death over his dead aniki in the coliseum
he was there asking for answers from The Florist, and you should know that this guy won't speak unless you participate on his autistic coliseum >why does the mastermind expect saejima and kiryu to fight to the death Kurosawa wasn't expecting them to beat themselves to death, it was Katsuya's plan to pretend they were fighting to death so they could lure him in.
They're only a couple hundred MB even on PS4 so I don't know where you're getting these high filesizes from. They also typically have a two month patch cycle unless something really goes wrong like 6 where they patched that even six months out.
Just did it on PS4. 1.90 GB for 1.16. I'm not making that shit up.
I was on 1.15, with the game open from last night. Maybe a Playstation frick up?
The patches are a couple hundred mb for me
Are you moronic (console owner) or do you not understand how patching a game works?
>Are you moronic (console owner)
Yes. If the game doesn't run on Linux it's all consoles for me. And frick-all runs on Linux after like 2006, except Minecraft.
I have. Also considered a Steam Deck a few times.
I'm nothing close to a gamer, really I rarely have time to play much of anything these days.
When I had more free time and no money, I tried all the things. Up to and including grabbing DLLs from Windows XP VMs or sketchy sites and doing all sorts of weird LD_PRELOAD workarounds. I had like 4 versions of Wine installed at one point, even ones I compiled from source with one-off patches. But now I'm too rusty for that.
I might still get a Steam deck, but I collected enough single use consoles for first-party titles that weren't on PC that if I really want to play something, I can usually get it on console before buying a game that might not run on my computer.
I was actually surprised they released 8 for PS4, I would've figured games for that would've dried up by now. I guess that will happen this year.
It's crazy comparing the Kiryu and Jima Bros sendoff at the end of Gaiden to 8's wet fart. Though I do find it funny that that one butthole from the dissolution keeps showing up

oh yeah, we wouldnt want to make something up about the yakuza working in the shadows.....better to leave that to the koreans, the chinese, and fricking anyone with the slightest bit of ambition, homie shut the hell up, its a video game, just pretend the Yakuza exist somehow in secret instead of being such huge homosexual cucks about it.
YES! SET YAKUZA 9 IN SAN BERNARDINO CALIFORNIA!!!! Ichi, Nanba (again again) Adachi(again again) saeko(again again) joongy(again again) zhao(again again) and kiryu (again 10x) fight the new up and coming villain MICHAEL ROSERO who recently won 600 dollars on scratch tickets and hes planning on opening a bakery that doesnt serve gays. Ichi and the gang will soon discover that walking the long empty streets of san bernardino is about as exciting as anything else in Yakuza 7 and 8, follow them as they...........eat at macdonalds and........worship Black folk
This is a perfect time for them to create a fully MMORPG Yakuza game. >Beat em up style >Customizable characters like Gaiden >PvP fighting arenas >COOP dungeons >All maps from the franchise become available >Minigames with friends but real time
turns out you can /walk around dungeon mobs outside their viewcones and skip 95% of the fights, just looting. The only ones you can't skip are those staring directly at the (only) entrance.
>sujimon entries
Is there a way to find the low level ones past the points in the story where everything levels up? I didn't grind out my sujipedia and now I have a bunch of missing entries, I really don't wanna go into premium adventure for that.
They give you their shades in a couple games so it's not that.
[...]

Gotta learn how to search Japanese wikis because English ones are constantly missing stuff or are way less specific. This is still missing some locations for some of them but hopefully it helps.
I believe the lowest tiers are all in the lowest tier raids but a lot of them seem to be in the dungeons as well.
I've already cleared the sectors so sujidex entries are done, you can't recruit sujimon there.
Mainly farming the dungeon for Shark Fins and Job armor, which are both from lootable objects only.
Enemies drop Steel which you might want, and a small amount of disks, not much point fighting them.
They clearly expected you to go to NG+ which is where they're pointing you towards. People here said to run the final floors of the Yokohama dungeon with the EXP items I think it was?
Yeah but even with that + boosting accessories and eating that get you to 1.7x the experience, it's still too long to go through just to fight the amon/michio rangers. And even then the exp gain is not that great. NG+ being paid dlc is really gay.
Apparently you can farm the hobos but I don't know what floor they're at. I think a guy yesterday was talking about that being more efficient than running the final floors. Other than that there's a guy on GameFAQs who suggested running around Kamurocho doing smackdowns as it nets you a bunch of mats including Lustrous Steel while also having decent EXP. Then there's the level cans but you can only get six or seven in the entire game and they're all from minigames.
Yeah either way it's clear the game intends for you to go directly for NG+ but I'll skip it this time around. Already had 120 hours to finish the game and had lots of fun. I'm gonna let it rest for now.
Damn how many fake death and comebacks do we have to go through? Okay then make 80 yo grandpa kiryu who unsurprisingly defeated cancer be haruto's master teaching him a mix of komaki and yakuza style fighting.
People who say the story in 8 isn't bad because other Yakuza games are contrived or whatever don't understand that the story in 8 isn't bad because it's contrived. It's bad because any of the character development is rushed or non-existent. Even in a game people would call contrived like 4 or 5 has actual character growth and explanation being done and usually done well. The beginning of Yakuza 5 is probably the peak of the series in terms character depth. 8 undermines everything good about Gaiden and seeks to make Ichiban a bad Shonen MC ripoff. I never thought Nagoshi was that important and that, as the writer, Yokoyama had more control but if this is Yakuza without Nagoshi the series is dead.
Yeah the characters are parodies of themselves and I'm mostly pissed because I really liked garden and this game retroactively fricks it. Speaking of character assasination I can't say how mad I am about what they did to hanna. Dude was a certified bro. Also the whole thing about keeping a secret identity and the return to the Taichi Suzuki name. All of that thrown away and it's like nothing ever happened.
I've only played the first two games thoughever. Next up in a few months will be 3 then Black Panther, then 4, then Black Panther 2, then 5, then 0, then Kiwami, then 6, then Kiwami 2, then Judgment THEN 7
I deliberately avoided doing Hawaiian Haunt S3 and EX until he joined. He finally caught up after I cleared those sectors and farmed all 14 shark fins.
Just make Zhao an action star, he's by his own admission a VF nerd, a lot of moves are straight up ported from VF5 (which got converted to the dragon engine). He seems the sort of dude to try to copy martial art moves from movies and games. Also his VA seemed to have a lot of fun with it, the yells he gets are top tier.
This begs the question. Are they going to keep adding more party members. If not, who are they gonna cut?
My bet is on Tomi, Chitose, Adachi, and probably Seonhee.
Ending of 8 seems to imply that Tomi and Chitose have big things going on
Adachi because god knows how old he'll be by the time 9 comes around
Seonhee because she doesn't really have much impact outside of wanting Kiryu's dick
Who says they'll cut characters? My bet is is that the roster might only becoming more numerous
I mean, there IS always the possibility of a bigger roster. the problem is. >More moments like Joongi and Zhao who join at the tail end of the game >Costs to have the entire voice crew act through an entire game. >Doing bond bingos for even more characters
They probably blew most of their resources doing damage control on the Yamato while going through a management shuffle at the same time.
Just about the only chip they had is a guy pointing a gun at Haruka so Kiryu will do shit for them, which ironically is the exact thing he faked his death to avoid.

The game spells out they lost a lot of their influence because their party lost the elections after Ryo Aoki's corruption was exposed. Plus while this isn't explicitly mentioned anywhere, I imagine other factors like the loss of Ogikubo's counterfeit money operation hurt their finances somewhat.
I'm on the level curve on Legend exactly and it's easy as shit. I was shitting my pants and expected TFMT but for an entire playthrough and instead got Normal again but maybe I have to heal a bit more frequently.
So I'm getting around to Kiwami 1 and I realized the map has the little back alley from 0 where the millennium tower will be during the prologue with Shinji. Was it like that in the PS2 version or is that just because Kiwami came out after, I'd check but I don't feel like digging that thing out.
>finally wrapping up Infinite Wealth >Ebina is absolutely kicking my ass
Wtf bros the game was a cakewalk until now
Going to kill myself if I have to back out and do that dungeon again
Have you seen her Night Queen ball stomping move? She loves that shit. Joon-gi's are too precious though, needs those intact for future breeding opportunities
Just finished y8. Kiryu deserves better than all that collectathon. Ichiban's chaotic good getting normalgay'ized. Both final bosses being too weak to be called "gameplay boss". I'm sad about y8 being flat like a granny tiddy, y7 is really a better game all things considered.
While disappointing gameplay-wise, I think Eiji works well for someone near the finale because he's like Masato, another victim of Arakawa who hates the yakuza so much that he becomes one in all but name in his need to destroy them.
The addition of the other Amon brothers was a nice touch, but why is he just barely above the same level as he was when he met a weakened Kiryu (while intentionally sandbagging in order to try and reawaken Kiryu so that the Amon clan could kill him close to his prime)?
Not bad tbh, I put it off till right before the finale then unloaded a ton of gacha tickets. Ended up with a full team of top-tier sujimon that pretty much wiped the floor with everyone
If you get the Suji Bear or Suji Surfer it's pretty much over. I think I had >Bear >Surfer >Black belt >Cosplayer >Fruit >Machine
The Suji Machine's destructo beam is so OP
>Hostess clubs are in the quarantine zone >Have to walk all the way around to get to israeliteel and then go outside the Quarantine Zone everytime in order to get a text for a date
Yep, I'm leaving the hostesses behind, especially if the game randomly crashes and I can't save in the Quarantine Zone, frick that.
The one that strikes a lightning after you knock em out? It's good, but the game is already piss easy so there's like no point going for it unless you're fighting some b***hes like 5 robomichi
It's not particularly stronger than any other ultimate weapon, and the special effect of it isn't that good either. Hero's skills also mostly suck ass.
Ichiban's best off an Aquanaut, but a lot of other jobs outperform Hero too.
It's mainly due to the armor that lets you ignore resistances so you can stack damage brands and always deal good damage, which gets even more powerful with the ultimate weapon that applies an ice weakness debuff.
The most powerful party comp is probably 4 aquanauts all using the armor and weapon and stacking ice debuffs but that would be pretty boring and it's not like the game is ever hard enough to warrant that sort of thing.
Honestly I don't know what else they would've done with her. She was a totally optional party member and never appeared in any of the story cutscenes even if she was in your party. Plus they had to have some excuse for why Kasuga was only ever a stand-in manager and not the head of a multi-billion yen conglomerate
I didn't expect her to come back (nor should she have) but she gets mentioned so little I understand why people wouldn't see where the game said she went.
10 party members in Premium Adventure already feels excessive. Adding in even more secret party members that would essentiality be non characters wouldn't improve anything. People are already saying Joongi and Zhao's inclusion felt pointless but at least they are actual characters.
This begs the question. Are they going to keep adding more party members. If not, who are they gonna cut?
My bet is on Tomi, Chitose, Adachi, and probably Seonhee.

Komaki is like 100 and he’s still fighting. Adachi is going nowhere.

Yeah I think they'll go back to the base crew. Seonhee was only a party member because Kiryu got her wet; very much doubt she'll be a party member in an Ichiban-focused story. Chitose will prob show up but not as a party member. And Tomi is back in Hawaii so no reason for him to be there. Would be surprised if they ditch Adachi, though, unless he also gets cancer or something

Adachi and Nanba aren't going anywhere, they're the core trio. Saeko is out however, wether she gets together with Ichi or not she won't be a playable party member next time. I'd cut Joongi and Zhao but they're fujo magnets so they'll stay.

The Saeko character assassination is honestly the thing I dislike most about 8 as I really liked her in 7. Her initial anger is understandable, but ghosting him for a year after all the shit they've previously been through is massively c**ty and at no point do she or any of the other characters really acknowledge that at this point she's much more in the wrong than Ichi.
While the main plot is pretty weak and the villains aren't great, but Saeko aside most of the character interactions were good and I personally think it did what it needed to do to set up Kiryu's retirement well. Ichiban and his group of friends were used to give Kiryu some decent character growth, and it also had a genuinely heartfelt passing of the torch moment that was needed for the series to move on from Kiryu. Assuming they don't undo it and unretire Kiryu in the next game.. 9 does need to have an intro set shortly after 8 that shows Kiryu settling into retirement back in Okinawa but as long as he's not a major character that'll be fine.

I had the exact same takeaway.
I hate what happened to Saeko, but there's no way to salvage it now. The romance subplot was cancer to her character and Ichiban's.

Honestly I think Adachi is the most likely to remain a party member out of all them, he's an absolute bro and the chemistry between him and Ichiban is great. Despite him arguably being the mechanically worst party member in both games he's by far the one I'd be most disappointed to see not return.

I want him being an old-head mentoring Tomizawa like he’s Coach McGurk
She was the audition contest winner for 7, the fact she even gets acknowledged at all in 8 is surprising. Seonhee pretty much fills the same gameplay niche in 8 while being an actual character.
Man when they flashback to the PS3 games those graphics really fricking show their age. It's not so noticable when you're actually playing that game, but the side-by-side comparison does them no favors.
Will they ever be party members at one point or will the be Support cucks through and through just so they can appear at the end of the game for 1 cool moment
They did them so ridiculously dirty. Just absolute blatant fanservice. You could have taken them out of the plot entirely and it would have flowed perfectly fine. The funniest part is that they were asked to help Ichiban "when the time comes", and they show up at the fricking Millennium Tower to handle a few grunts and not even really be playable. I get that this shit's always going to have a semblance of fanservice to it, but god damn the plot was literally bent to have them in there for the sole purpose of "OMG IT'S THEM!!!".
>Just absolute blatant fanservice.
Maybe it's just me but I fricking love that shit. I know people constantly shit on it because of memberberries and I LIKE THAT BECAUSE I KNOW STAR WARS, but frick you, I want to be pandered to. It's the whole reason I like the SRW series when every game is just blatant REMEMBER THIS THIS FROM X SHOW with 0 shame behind it.
I would have been more alright with it if they had just showed up unannounced during the final battle and popped out of nowhere with absolutely 0 buildup. That type of shameless fan service would have been more palatable than this entire subplot of you going to them for help because they need their help now more than ever and all they do is beat up 8 Seiryu grunts. It's kinda shitty because they wanted to have blatant fanservice, but try to make it seem like it's not fanservice. If you want shameless fan service, just have Majima, Taiga, and Daigo crash into the tower with a fricking helicopter and show up out of nowhere with no context or buildup. That woulda been fun.
What is wrong with me?
Most of Y8 felt like a sitcom season, where nothing matters until the last episode where they pull some shit that does matter to keep you tuned in for the next season.
I'm in the same boat. I played 7 3 times but I found myself not giving a shit about the story for 8. I finished 8 recently and I haven't felt like playing premium adventure or even finishing the substories.
Yamai isn't unhinged at all. His fighting style is the only weird part of him. He loves women, he cares about his boys who all adore him too (see the ones who helped with the boat and the ones who are casually having a birthday party in the syndicate building), he protected Kiryu and Akane, he let Tomi go unscathed, he couldn't even take revenge on the woman betrayed him. Yamai is a stealth softie and he's not even that stealthy about it. You should have known he was going to become Ichiban's friend the moment he said "I'm not going to become friends with you" like a tsundere. He probably loves shooting the shit and won't be able to resist the drink linking and table talking.
It's shocking how hard they dropped the ball regarding villains.
If you were to ask me, I did not care AT ALL about Ebina, and him being Ichi's half brother feels like an asspull to make him interesting at the last second.
Bryce and Eiji were alright; Ichi forcefully stopping Bryce from killing himself was Kino.
Eiji's ending was alright, was just a retread of Masato's except he doesn't die
>Yakuza 8 >Daidoji are pissed at Ichiban they lost their two best agents cause of him >Send THE GOAT after him >Thematic backdrop is Ichiban and Saeko’s wedding
Book it, Yokoyama
>Ichiban and Saeko wedding >The Daidojis break during the party trying to kill Ichiban, kill her accidentally >Ichiban it's completely broken, the guy you love for being a clown stops being a clown completely
>spoiler
Since seeing Gaiden kidnap Shishido, I would unironically love for this twist to happen, especially if Mine doesn't remember being in the Tojo Clan. He'd make such a vicious agent.
>every single person who died in the entire series has inexplicably survived and is either a bartender or a daidoji agent >hanewa survived and is both a bartender AND a daidoji agent
Blame Gaiden being written after IW for whatever reason, same reason why none of Kiryu's neat daidoji tools appear in IW, despite them all making for perfect skills and Agent as a whole being a great fit for a second exclusive class for Kiryu, like how Ichi gets Freelancer and Hero
money comes easy so spend it all there is a story related investment mid-late game but what you need is minuscule considering what each battle can net you at that stage
The weapon shop in Chinatown, but there's a high level street boss just outside it that will be quite challenging unless you're overlevelled for that chapter.
with infintite wealths story being almost universally shit on, I hope they take note and let the gaiden writers take control for yakuza 9/future games.
maybes its the classic tale of time constraints breed creativity or something, considering that game supposedly took around 6 months to make, as opposed to lad8 which was maybe 2-3 years.
I'm pretty sure that every ultimate weapon is dropped by a crown enemy you find on the map, except for the tennis ace and linebacker's, which you buy from the underground haunts.
>We never saw Yamai’s back tat
Speaking of which why did Ebina have one I doubt the new Seriyu Clan was being strict about proper attire so it’s not like he needed to get one
The next game will show us Yamai's irezumi and Zhao's, because Ichiban will be back on Japanese soil fighting yakuza-related battles where tearing your shirt off is necessary.
>tfw Shishido is the last man to have experienced Kiryu's power at its prime before the cancer >Shishido will one day fight Ichiban and be able to compare Ichi's strength to that of the Dragon he succeeded
>never played yakuza >tried like a dragon 1 on game pass for like 20 mins years ago when it was on there >thought it was meh >playing the man who erased his name on game pass now, enjoying it
where do i go from here should i play kiwami 1 next and go in ordre
i have pc game pass and the only ones on there currently are the man who erased , isshin and YLAD
If it's the action combat you like, probably the best ones to do next would be Yakuza 0 or Judgement (a spinoff that takes place in the same world, but about a lawyer-turned-detective).

Release order, 0 could be a good option but it has way too many references to stuff in the later games (not to mention the jarring gameplay transition from it and kiwami 1 to kiwami 2)
I went 7, 0, K1, K2, 5, 3, 4, 6, 8. Pretty fricked up but I'm glad I did the others before 8. Even playing 0 before at least K1 was kind of a bummer in retrospect. It's perfectly serviceable as a standalone story but there are a lot of nods and references that you probably won't appreciate as much without knowing what happened in 1.
Starting with 0 is fine, clearly 0 is a game where you should revisit once you're done with the whole series so you could go 'aha so that what it was', it is plenty replayable by itself
Sure, I don't necessarily disagree. Just saying from my experience I kind of wish I had more context. It's definitely a better introduction to the series than 7, although honestly I've just come to love these games so much I'm just glad I got into them at all

it does but you really only notice when dodging attacks rather than just stepping for more room, when you dodge attacks kiryu practically fricking teleports behind people. i ended up deleting the mod because it was too hilarious.
It's not at the top of my back log. So no.
ichi is gay as frick and can't stop crying or getting mansplained to. Yakuza should have ended at 2,4 or 5 or 6
Already did, nice story, can't be bothered to clear all the substories since you know how RPG game secret bosses are
I mean, it's better than Mr.Can'tdowrong Kiryu, it's fine
>Mr.Can'tdowrong
Kiryu fricks up all the time, he even aknowledges it
>Ichiban cries once in his debut game
>gets branded a crybaby
>Saejima cries at least three times in his debut chapter
>
Kiryu is the one who's done all the crying in the last two games as well.
yeah but saejima is a dickychad
He's never fricked a dicky in his life, but he's always telling dudes to get their balls out and he had a pretty boy on his arm in both of his games.
Kiryu would win in a true balls out fight because he's tasted the godly Haruka dicky juice and Saejima hasn't.
Baba-chan best girl.
I want him to come back.
You actually get to do cool things with Saejima, with Ichi, everything 'cool' is actually in his head and all he did in reality is jumping people
dude dissolved japanese parliament at the top, that's hardly just "all in his head"
I meant fighting, so far he has only mastered talk no jutsu
Very true
>cries once
he cries MANY MANY MANY times in party chat and he also does that gay anime "YATTA!!!" shit frequently.
Ichi canonically has sex with 6 women, morono
What did you do to his face?
what do you mean?
Ichiban if he was raised as Arakawa's son from the get go
Just finished it.
Did Kume get away with killing Aoki or not? Game's end right when he kills him.
Kume goes to prison later offscreen. He'll probably never be important again.
its heavily implied in 8 he'll be back from prison eventually
I love u saeko https://files.catbox.moe/wf2lom.jpeg
The worst Yakuza game. The story is boring, combat is lackluster and slow. Just play any other JRPG. Yakuza 8 fixes a lot of issues.
I thought people say 8's story is ass? Try not to spoil a lot please
yes the story is ass, but the game play is pretty fun
Shit, now I'm considering watching the whole main story now and just buy the game on sale later
no the game is SUPER fun, just the first yakuza game to have a shittier story than gameplay
id do the opposite, get the game and ignore the story after chapter 8 (the first half is alright)
It's main story isn't just bad, it does nothing to advance Ichi as a character, and actively undermines previous storylines. I honestly think I would have enjoyed the game more if I HAD been spoiled, as I would have taken my time doing literally everything else in the game instead of doing main story missions hoping the game would get better.
the final fight was pretty mild tbh and the ending was pretty meh, maybe i was hyped for something more impactful but they kinda played it safe if you ask me
8 is nowhere near some of the worst stories in the series.
which ones are the worst so i know what to avoid
8
2, 3, 4 and 5
3 has one of the best stories, it's literally THE most important game to understand Kiryu's story you fricking useless moronic b***h ass weak ass googoogaga uptight b***h ass homie
kys
4-6 are all worse in terms of plot.
Filtered
story-wise, 4 5 and 6 are what i like to call the dogshit trilogy
>dub
>Nanba
you will never have a girlfriend
the story is in line with majority of the series.
You go to Lijincho and Kamurocho in 8
I genuinely don't understand all the vitriol. It has some moronic contrivances and other nonsensical bullshit but what Yakuza game doesn't? Aside from the ending falling a bit flat, I actually think the story is pretty good on the whole
Infinite Wealth improved gameplay, but on the story side it's a fricking mess, they were not even trying on make it consistent
Yakuza In the End
frick no this garbage ruined the series
shit combat
shit characters
yakuza ended at 6
but enough about yakuza 4 and 5
I’m still finishing yakuza 2 on ps2
>play yakuza 7
i already did, playing judgment right now.
>Judgment
I find it funny how Y8 and LJ both improved their gameplay from their predecessors immensely but also downgraded their stories, Judgment 3 is going to be a clear indicator of how Y9 will turn out
i like yagami's gameplay but the flashy kick style just makes me sad there will never be an akiyama game.
best you can hope for is Kiwami 4, maybe give Akiyama some of Yagami's moveset
Well there is a mod for Judgment that replaces Yagami with Akiyama.
holy mother fricking based
judgment should have been Akiyama to begin with, frick that k-pop star looking douchenozzle yagami
>Judgment 3
Didn't they say it will never be made?
i personally liked lost judgments story more. so for me it was just an infinitely better game to me.
>Judgment 3 is going to be a clear indicator of how Y9 will turn out
>he thinks there will be a judgement 3
a-anon...
this. Sega is so fricking stupid theyll
>spend a billion dollars making the worst fricking engine on earth, and then dump it
>go to court over this stupid JOHNNY agency shit, going to hell and back just for some farted out already existing pc port, and then drop it
>introduce a new Protag for yakuza, to have him do fricking nothing not once but twice.
>give kiryu cancer for dramatic weight, and then ignore it/cure him over the next 4 games (hes supposed to be sunset btw)
fine I will play it, i got distracted about 15 hours in and havent played since launch.
I fricking hate playing catchup but I also hate starting a game in the middle and forgetting the context of everything going on.
No idea if you're here but ignore Esper Ito. He's not required for the completion list and gives you absolutely nothing for completing his requirements. His shogi AI is also grandmaster tier, it took SpearShogi (A grandmaster level AI) over 280 something turns to beat him.

I didn't like Greg Chun's performance in 7 compared to 8 either, but he was a duplicitious butthole in 7 regardless of language.
frick no, the series is dead until they make judgment 3
>m-m-m-muh coin locker baby!!!!!
You homosexuals pretend to love Japan so much then turn around and b***h about this when it's: 1) blatantly inspired by a popular Japanese novel, and 2) actually a thing that used to happen in Japan all the time (babies getting left in coin lockers)
Happening once wasn't the issue, happening twice in the same location on the same night is
Oh you mean like the book it's based on?
My bad, guess you wouldn't know - forgot Black folk don't read. Frick off.
Is it possible to get more than 2 Transcendent Soles?
NG+. The AGI buffing items are all either from safes or crowned enemies, and in general you're better off using the Black Belt/God's Keystone/Dragon God's Eye items than the insoles since the overall buffs are better than just a straight AGI buff.
I'm trying to stack AGI on my two Kunoichi since all they're doing is using Substitution Jutsu.
Ah, makes sense. Yeah, it's basically NG+ as far as I've seen since you only get two of the 30 one, two of the 20 one, and three of the 10 one.
>Mods let you use Tatara.
This is cursed.

Sawashiro, you have no right to have a theme that fits fighting a cold-hearted messenger of God, but damn it it's OK
>that absolutely glorious frickery after 2:09
what kind of shit does RGG keep doing to make these standout remixes/tracks? i mean not all of 8's ost is my favorite but i don't outright hate any of the tracks
No. Only homosexuals, troonys and women like this series.
I don't remember why thew crew went to Sotenbori in 7.
Omi Alliance HQ is situated in Sotenbori.
Ichiban was told Arakawa was going to be there I think?
Y9 antagonist going to be yet another half brother of Ichi
Nanba got such a glow up in 8 that it's crazy to see how he was in 7 compared to this. He was just boring and not really that interesting in 7 but in 8 he's honestly fantastic.
I didn't really felt how people called Tomi as Nanba 2.0 but then he starts saying how he used to be a homeless kek. That's still such a stupid and unnecessary twist in 7
tomi is nanba but without the moronic brother twist, so i like him slightly more. although im not too bothered that we will likely not see tomi again as he will stay in hawaii
did RGG made that much money that they won't reuse Hawaii again?
the thing I hate most about Nanba's "i was pretending to be a homeless" was so fricking unnecessary, he could've just easily been a homeless for years and is now trying to save his brother
>Download a mod that lets you use dlc sujimon on sujimancer
>Instantly goes from the worst class in the game to the best
Why don't they let you use dlc sujimon without mods?
>Why don't they let you use dlc sujimon without mods?
Because they give the same stat buff as Kiwamis so you just skip the entire Sujimon pipeline. They are cheat characters but they clearly want some restrictions.
theres some weird shit going on with the dlc suji like the intro and victory screens being cut
The removal is clearly intentional (and makes battles faster if you have one on the team) because of what it does to their faces.
I really doesn't wanna create another thread so i ask here. I hardly beat Yakuza 0 because press xy to win gameplay make me puke. Which parts of Yakuza i should try with one hit kill cheat if i wanna experience good side quests? As far as i understand another games main story sucks compare to Zero.
dood just go watch J-dramas, yakuza is an amalgamation of those with some punching and QTEs.
Well Outrun quest in Zero and toy cars quest in Kiwami most soulful shit i ever see
Pocket circuit is based on mini4WD anime, there's a whole bunch of them.
It's up to you how you want to do this but to me it sounds like you're more about the stories than anything else when most of the attraction is the whole package.
>im guessing maybe the majima fight?
I don't recall ever using a trip.
What's withY7 bringing all these characters back from the dead anyway? Kashiwagi got riddled with high caliber bullets and died on screen. Lau Ka Long got shot in the fricking head. But they all got better. It felt a bit like an easter egg in 7, but 8 really hammers in home by having Kiryu meet everyone.
superior Japanese healthcare
Go play 7 and 8, never look back, just pretend that the rest of the series doesn't exist
oh no, you have to press buttons to play the game? the humanity!!!!!
this has to be one of the most homosexual things ever said
based ichiban
don't let those normalgays stand between you and your tendies
Ichiban should've stood his ground that he wants Saeko to be a trad wife
I have literally negative faith in Kiwami 3 being good
think the worst part about this scene is that the plot point is never brought up again. At no other point in the entire game does he even interact with another woman, other than Yasuko. Saejima can’t even go to the Hostess Clubs in that game. 25 years of never seeing a woman brought up, considered, and resolved in this one 20 second bit of the game.
Never played Yakuza 4
Do they sexo?
Haruka wishes
She was imagining he was Kiryu.
No.
But there's a dialog that implies she touch herself to that moment.
Its a good thing there will never be a kiwami 3
It is absolutely on the way, there is no chance they aren't making it.
If they were making kiwami 3 they would have done it before they shat up the dragon engine with useless spaghetti code so that they could make a turn based rpg in it
Anon, they literally released a brawler game a few months ago
And it felt like shit because they shat up the engine with useless spaghetti code to get a turn based jrpg to work in the engine
Lost Judgment came after 7, when they supposedly
>shat up the engine with useless spaghetti code
Lmao only people who never coded in their life use terms like this, back to Ganker with you
I didn't play lost judgement because i bought it on PS4 and a week later they released a PS5 version separately so i had my bank charge back the purchase and then sony banned my account.
They seem to drop a really nice hat.
But I suspect there are nicer ones.
i did. in fact, i literally just finished it last week. took me around 70 hours in a span of like a month and a half. was playing other games inbetween. did a decent amount of the side missions.
its funny because going into it, i was warned about some crazy difficulty spike in the later half of the game but honestly, didnt have any issues at all with the game. kinda wondering where this supposed difficulty spike happens. im guessing maybe the majima fight? but the only different thing i had to do with that fight was actually use my support skills and swap some characters out.
kinda want to do that post game dungeon but im kinda burnt out on the game right now. was thinking of jumping right into man who erased his name but i think ill hold off for now.
Wtf kiryu still has the yumi ring from kiwami?
It's just called part 1 bro. Oh God I just realized I fell for bait...
which game
FF15
Did they seriously reuse the side quests from yakuza 1 where a girl tries to drug you with free alcohol? Except this time ichiban is moronic and falls for it
They only used it as the start really, everything after he gets drugged is different and the bartender didn't seem to be in on it like in 1.
I tried, I really did, but there were too many cutscenes. Maybe in the future, but honestly I doubt it
the story and characters were very good and carry the whole game. i had high expectations for how rggs would adapt the gameplay to turn based but instead they did the most generic barebones jrpg combat i've played in years and i'm not even a jrpg buff.
for what little i've seen 8 seems to have improved to some degree, not sure how much.
I had a dream about Y8 tonight so no
After 40 hours I got to see this, laughed out loud, then dropped the game forever
Saeko

Chitose is a foot bawd
>chitose's chi-toes
>haruka's haruk-ass
Im playing yakuza 8 and never played 7 (no kiryu no play) why isnt kiryu shitting his pants over ichiban having a dragon on his back after that whole pride thing in yakuza 2 about there only being room for one dragon
That was a dick measuring contest with Ryuji, I wouldn't take that seriously at all because Shibusawa pulled the same thing. He holds Ichiban in high regards as a person and 8 just adds to that.
>Kiryu seems to be sort of close to Shin Amon in 7
>Jo is basically a skin crawler in 8, looking exactly like Shin
>Kiryu doesn't even bat an eye, instantly recognizes him as Jo
Shin has already been in 3 games, who in RGG let this mistake slide?
Don't forget that they made new models for Gai and Juzo so they clearly know Shin's got some sort of difference to him.
i thought Amons are the shades, not the flesh puppets they control.
They give you their shades in a couple games so it's not that.

No, they said if they couldn't port the games to PC they'd have a harder time justifying the costs leading to the series potentially dying. The games have been ported to PC. The main issue now is with Johnny's and Kimura but I'm pretty sure Kimura getting a new agency will fix that issue.
Kiryu wants more dragons in the family
>Started playing Yakuza with Kiwami 1 because it was included in PS Plus
>Moved on to Kiwami 2 because I really liked the dragon engine ragdoll stuff (and because I tried the PS2 version and couldn't get into it)
>Then played Judgment
>Started 0 but only got to like Chapter 3 before pausing it for another game
>Started playing 7 and got to like the midpoint but was got bored of the combat so I dropped it for a long while
>moved on to Lost Judgment anyway but also stopped playing that for a while because I had other stuff coming out
>now I'm trying to push myself to beat both and move on to 0
please stick to one game at a time, especially with games in the same series/genre

I'm missing like 5 Sujimon from my dossier and I haven't the slightest clue where I could get them. Been flipping through raids for like 4 hours now and they don't appear and the ones I know can be found as random encounters never drop the suji when I beat them. Hurry up with the guide CyricZ.
Okay, I used the wiki to fugre out their type then kept pulling a type gacha until I got them. Case closed.
I wish Gatchapin was real

remember when people thought ichiban was part black
Here's your spin-off bro
Man, Chitose is hot as frick but she's so fricking moronic, I don't know if I like her or not
I feel like she should have gone to prison after 8, no? Or at least she should get sued to oblivion.
She's hot until she changes her hair
the Black person hair is disgusting
At least you can easily distinguish between two cheetosays after the haircut.
2100 AD:
play Yakuza 354
Ebina could've just removed Ichi so more people go to the Seiryu by default. He did not want the yakuza rehabilitated in the first place.
Everything about the letter is kind of moronic, whether it be the plot point itself or the characters' logic surrounding it. Like the characters literally go "it must have been a scheme to fire Ichi to get him to Hawaii!!!" when that happened a fricking month ago
Honestly the less I think about the plot the better. It's just pants on head moronic and don't get me started on the whole nuclear dumpster thing.
Hey man im moronic stop comparing my people to this dogshit
Sorry moronic bro I didn't mean to offend you.
Frick off moron
Saejima is bundled together with Daigo and Majima in all 3 games.
Akiyama finally returns in 8 for a minor role
Tanimura/Mahjong Cop has been MIA since, likely never since he's a stuntcast AND a recast.
>tfw hoping for a kiwami 3 is the only chance of brawler combat coming back
I strongly doubt that.
I'm annoyed that they have many skills with ailment-based gimmicks but capped ailments to 1 per type.
>lost judgment flopped
>ishin flopped
>Gaiden flopped
>Infinite wealth became the fastest selling game in the franchise despite having numerous hit pieces written about it by game journos in the week leading up to launch because they were too moronic to watch tokyo game show 4 months earlier
gaiden did not flop, i hope lost judgment didnt flop though
>Was literally given a free win because every other game released around the time was dogshit
>still flopped
Lost Judgment sold 76% more than Judgment did in the west, and that's a game that was the first one they told us sold an actual million so they must be happy with LJ sales.
We have no numbers for Ishin Kiwami and they've never talked about it.
Gaiden not only did not flop, but it sold amazingly well and shocked them.
https://automaton-media.com/en/interviews/20231225-24821/
>Yokoyama: Yes, domestic sales this time around are astonishing, I can really feel the series’ popularity reigniting in Japan.
Of course it did well.
>lost judgment flopped
did well enough by all accounts
>ishin
yeah
>gaiden
surpassed expectations IIRC
>Infinite wealth became the fastest selling game in the franchise despite having numerous hit pieces written about it by game journos in the week leading up to launch
But journos did nothing but praise it and call it the best game in the series
>forced to play with a new shit character
>turn based combat
no
Yakuza 8 is saved
Youre 10 days late
Also they just released another update like 3 hours ago
>Youre
Mine's fake name in Y9.
Sidenote but I hate that Kiryu is super aware of who Andorre Richardoson is in 8. I know the whole.theme is redemption and all that jazz, but still. The guy tried to murder his """"son"""".
Kashiwagi and Richardson are only comedy alive
*It would have been funny for him to meet lau kar long and been like ayo frick remember when you ripped my fingernails out with pliers
what's in the new update?
Until they update us in the Steam forums this is all you've got.
How did you make him look Armenian even more?
How do you guys remember all these characters? Maybe Im a brainlet but I literally can’t remember a single character or plotline from 3 till 0. I can barely remember the plot of 7. Do you guys look that shit up or actually go:
>random guy walks in
>”yooo that’s akira nishiyama the third patriarch of the saiwajima clan who betrayed nagatomo ayase back in yakuza 2”
Its not like they've been leveraging bit players like Taneshiro or whatver the other guy was called that got shot in the head in 3 or Saito from 4 or something, they've been bringing important and / or otherwise recurring characters back.
>haruka is the biggest frick up in out of all the orphans
>everyone else lives a decent life now
Was she always just moronic or did Kiryu just frick up raising her?
Little bit of column a, little bit of column b.
She made the dumbest of her choices when she was away from him for extended periods of time, but you could argue that they were all influenced by him and the way he faces life (or doesn't, as he runs away all the time).
Where is the mahjong parlor in Hawaii?
Should be far west street of map in the Chinese district.
Alright, thanks
When do they usually announce upcoming RGGS games?
Anyone experimented with Big Swell if you can start from the boss fight after leaving the dungeon before the boss floor, like in other dungeons?
I'm actually playing it now.
I'm on chapter 10
Really great game
I started it a couple days ago, having fun will play more soon today after I do a bit of homework
already did.
Didn't care for the TFMT grind so I don't have the Platinum
does kasuga's personality stuff and kiryu's awakening reset with ng+? I know dondoko island and substories do.
please respond 🙁
I don't know
SMELL IT
Why didn't they get English sound-a-likes for Tomi and Bryce? Roman and the two innocent Palenkana volunteers sounded close enough.
roman sounded like shit. deep, intimidating jap voice but then this higher "H-hey guys" awkward english voice.
Bryce's english was terrible for being in hawaii for 90 years and the previous sage spoke perfect english.
The Bryce broken engrish was so fricking funny, literally took me out of the game every time he opened his mouth.
you hev made me vely ploud
The whole language situation was really handled poorly, the language barrier was a problem only for the intro, after that everyone in the main story or substory spoke japanese, even the kids who at that age never had a way to come in contact with the japanese language in any meaningful capacity.
One of the only times a language barrier was even an issue for Ichi was Joon-Gi Hans final drink link, which I didn't finish before premium adventure
yeah idk what the frick they were doing with Bryce, they should've casted a gaijin who can speak japanese
So moose what was your opinion on 8?
I'm still in chapter 8 so uh, it's better than 7 so far? Everyone says it goes downhill after the end of this chapter though so I'm waiting to see why.
great gameplay, dogshit story this describes the entire series to be hones
Yeah the story is, I don't even know what to make of it. It's a mix of weird motivations, self contradictory elements of the plot and a burning desire to fan service the whole thing a bit too much.

No.
is this the thread?
iphone port
dondoko island is cring. they had the chance to give ichiban brawler combat and decided to give him lethal company combat instead
what does lethal company combat mean?
Is it real that girls like this series?
Yes
i got called a woman for my 2022 steam recap (it was all yakuza/judgment games) so maybe.
So which games are better than 0?
3, 5, Judgment, Lost Judgment and 7
Judgement, 1, 7, and maybe 0 are the only good games. I also assume the first PSP game is decent since they've proven they can tell really good entry game stories for their characters.
>ichi runs for mayor the game
>good
0-4 are excellent
5 is dogshit
6 is serviceable
rpgshit is failure to launch. 7 opens ichis story and 8 immediately after shows they have no idea what theyre doing and the series has no further direction
This series will live and die by kiryu, they have no plan B
Id be okay with that but its way too late to give a shit now and adding(soon to be removed) cancer is too little too late. Had they kept kiryu disappeared after 6 it would have at least been over. but bringing kiryu back in 7 and then center staging him again in 8 is so stupid I cant believe in anything anymore. Especially given how shit kiryus intro is in 7. You just bump into him, hes supposedly on assignment but thats about all there is to it......whack

1. why was aizawa fighting to the death over his dead aniki in the coliseum....
2. why does the mastermind expect saejima and kiryu to fight to the death....
these are glaring plotholes
>why was aizawa fighting to the death over his dead aniki in the coliseum
he was there asking for answers from The Florist, and you should know that this guy won't speak unless you participate on his autistic coliseum
>why does the mastermind expect saejima and kiryu to fight to the death
Kurosawa wasn't expecting them to beat themselves to death, it was Katsuya's plan to pretend they were fighting to death so they could lure him in.
Why the frick is 8 still getting multiple gigabytes worth of patches?
The game's been out for a month.
The patches are a couple hundred mb for me
Are you moronic (console owner) or do you not understand how patching a game works?
They're only a couple hundred MB even on PS4 so I don't know where you're getting these high filesizes from. They also typically have a two month patch cycle unless something really goes wrong like 6 where they patched that even six months out.
Just did it on PS4. 1.90 GB for 1.16. I'm not making that shit up.
I was on 1.15, with the game open from last night. Maybe a Playstation frick up?
>Are you moronic (console owner)
Yes. If the game doesn't run on Linux it's all consoles for me. And frick-all runs on Linux after like 2006, except Minecraft.
Maybe my download happened really quickly then because it seemed to be shorter to download it than their previous patches.
Have you heard of proton-GE?
>Why does this 150 mb download have to patch 5 gb of files?
Because the game is actually optimized?
Gaiden had a nice story and a kino final fight. 8 on the other hand, lol.
It's crazy comparing the Kiryu and Jima Bros sendoff at the end of Gaiden to 8's wet fart. Though I do find it funny that that one butthole from the dissolution keeps showing up
>I do find it funny that that one butthole from the dissolution keeps showing up
Daigo?
Nah the green suit dude.
the grunt that tried to stab watase keeps getting up after getting knocked out and just continues to be a mob in every group fight in the finale
Honestly, the yakuza in Japan is dead, what else is there to make about
>HONESTLY THE YAKUZA IN JAPAN ARE DEAD
oh yeah, we wouldnt want to make something up about the yakuza working in the shadows.....better to leave that to the koreans, the chinese, and fricking anyone with the slightest bit of ambition, homie shut the hell up, its a video game, just pretend the Yakuza exist somehow in secret instead of being such huge homosexual cucks about it.
yakuza is dead and RGGS is going to make a crime game about gaijins and browns and you're gonna love it
I haven't played Yakuza 8 in over two weeks and I 100% all the other Yakuzer games.
i wish they would create a new IP, some fantasy shit, postapoc, apoc, cyberpunk i dont fricking care.
they tried and it flopped HARD
This is a perfect time for them to create a fully MMORPG Yakuza game.
>Beat em up style
>Customizable characters like Gaiden
>PvP fighting arenas
>COOP dungeons
>All maps from the franchise become available
>Minigames with friends but real time
moron
turns out you can /walk around dungeon mobs outside their viewcones and skip 95% of the fights, just looting. The only ones you can't skip are those staring directly at the (only) entrance.
Isn't the whole point of the dungeon to grind levels/materials/sujimon entries? Seems pretty counter-productive to just skip past everyone.
>sujimon entries
Is there a way to find the low level ones past the points in the story where everything levels up? I didn't grind out my sujipedia and now I have a bunch of missing entries, I really don't wanna go into premium adventure for that.
See the link I posted
I believe the lowest tiers are all in the lowest tier raids but a lot of them seem to be in the dungeons as well.
I've already cleared the sectors so sujidex entries are done, you can't recruit sujimon there.
Mainly farming the dungeon for Shark Fins and Job armor, which are both from lootable objects only.
Enemies drop Steel which you might want, and a small amount of disks, not much point fighting them.
How do you get experience in postgame in 8 or do they want me to buy some dlc for that?
>he didnt preorder the deluxe edition so enemies grant experience
ngmi
I just want the level 70 kasuga trophy, that's pretty much it.
>he didnt buy the steelbook case that increases the level cap from 69.99999999999999
ngmi
I'm five hours into Y6 and I'm getting bored. Do I miss a lot story-wise if I skip this and go straight to 7?
yes
shame some of the subtitles are wrong but based otherwise
Is going through Dondoko even worth it?
The orbital beam is worth it
It gives a one time 400k which is good enough for to buy 4-star/lvl35ish gear sets for everyone and every job class.
Literally gets you started with money. Before that you struggle but after dondoko you're good.
Well, I can confirm they patched the thug street voice lines repeating.
This ain't a show dipshit
This ain't a show dipshit
I think I'm gonna KILL YOU
what about
>take a breaktake a breaktake a break
every time you walk through the mall?
Can't be assed to grind to 99 and do true final millennial tower
So can we have a new kurohyou game set after the death of kiryu with haruto as the new protagonist now?
>after the death of kiryu
Say what now? He's a Komaki pupil, he's got 50 years in him still.
Damn how many fake death and comebacks do we have to go through? Okay then make 80 yo grandpa kiryu who unsurprisingly defeated cancer be haruto's master teaching him a mix of komaki and yakuza style fighting.
I'll admit the kamurocho battle theme was a nice throwback
Offsir halp i'm been lobbed!
zat mehn isno feef
whu u shuld be' arr'esting is the drivah
What really activates my almonds is that this unnatural line was brought over verbatim for the english dub when they usually rewrite the dialogue.
I'm peesing myserf ovah heer
I've only played the first two games thoughever. Next up in a few months will be 3 then Black Panther, then 4, then Black Panther 2, then 5, then 0, then Kiwami, then 6, then Kiwami 2, then Judgment THEN 7
What other formerly dead characters are they going to bring back?
>get to the part where Yung Gi joins your party
>He's lvl 38
>Party lvls are 53+
I deliberately avoided doing Hawaiian Haunt S3 and EX until he joined. He finally caught up after I cleared those sectors and farmed all 14 shark fins.
I expected him to join during a Kiryu section
They really did Goon Ji Han dirty.
Zhao felt nerfed too, those two were my moneymakers in 7.
NTA but I'll try that on Legend, I had him as gunslinger but holy shit I'm not playing Shogi to get the best gun.
>zhao and joon join just to fricking join
Why did they bother having them in there? They both felt just shoehorned in there.
Who says they'll cut characters? My bet is is that the roster might only becoming more numerous
I mean, there IS always the possibility of a bigger roster. the problem is.
>More moments like Joongi and Zhao who join at the tail end of the game
>Costs to have the entire voice crew act through an entire game.
>Doing bond bingos for even more characters
He looks like such a fricking grandpa with the glasses on.
I thought it was kind of weird he didn't recognize Seonhee even though they were working together in 7.
He was sundowning after a long flight, poor ojiisan.
arr korean rook arike to him
>Daidoji are hyped up in Gaiden
>They're losers in 8
???
They probably blew most of their resources doing damage control on the Yamato while going through a management shuffle at the same time.
Just about the only chip they had is a guy pointing a gun at Haruka so Kiryu will do shit for them, which ironically is the exact thing he faked his death to avoid.
The only reason Kiryu still stays as their b***h was because it was his idea to fake his death.
The game spells out they lost a lot of their influence because their party lost the elections after Ryo Aoki's corruption was exposed. Plus while this isn't explicitly mentioned anywhere, I imagine other factors like the loss of Ogikubo's counterfeit money operation hurt their finances somewhat.
>character is supposed to be the eptomy of manlyness in his archetype
>has no wife and children
No. I'm not playing it
I'm on the level curve on Legend exactly and it's easy as shit.
Was it like that in the PS2 version or is that just because Kiwami came out after, I'd check but I don't feel like digging that thing out.
>finally wrapping up Infinite Wealth
>Ebina is absolutely kicking my ass
Wtf bros the game was a cakewalk until now
Going to kill myself if I have to back out and do that dungeon again
Fight made me realize how much my fricking party members waltz all over the place. Should definitely be a setting for that shit
that tv show quest in the mall fricking sucked
What did she mean by this
Have you seen her Night Queen ball stomping move? She loves that shit. Joon-gi's are too precious though, needs those intact for future breeding opportunities
Just finished y8. Kiryu deserves better than all that collectathon. Ichiban's chaotic good getting normalgay'ized. Both final bosses being too weak to be called "gameplay boss". I'm sad about y8 being flat like a granny tiddy, y7 is really a better game all things considered.
While disappointing gameplay-wise, I think Eiji works well for someone near the finale because he's like Masato, another victim of Arakawa who hates the yakuza so much that he becomes one in all but name in his need to destroy them.
>mfw beating the Amons in 8
This has got to be the worst Amon fight in the series right?
I don't know, LP making you race him was pretty bullshit.
The addition of the other Amon brothers was a nice touch, but why is he just barely above the same level as he was when he met a weakened Kiryu (while intentionally sandbagging in order to try and reawaken Kiryu so that the Amon clan could kill him close to his prime)?
how shit is sujimon mini game in 8? I left it for the last
It's fine
Not bad tbh, I put it off till right before the finale then unloaded a ton of gacha tickets. Ended up with a full team of top-tier sujimon that pretty much wiped the floor with everyone
sounds great tbh
If you get the Suji Bear or Suji Surfer it's pretty much over. I think I had
>Bear
>Surfer
>Black belt
>Cosplayer
>Fruit
>Machine
The Suji Machine's destructo beam is so OP
Yeah, now that Brawler mod is out I finally can
wew
Does Saejima have CTE?
What's your end game party? Ichi, Kiryu, Saeko, Chitose
Hawaii: Hero Ichi, Cabbie Tomi, Samurai Adachi, Maid Chitose
Millennium Tower: DoD Kiryu, Assassin Seonhee, Night Queen Saeko, Gangster Zhao
Premium Adventure: Hero Ichi, DoD Kiryu, Samurai Adachi, Geomancer Saeko
>Hostess clubs are in the quarantine zone
>Have to walk all the way around to get to israeliteel and then go outside the Quarantine Zone everytime in order to get a text for a date
Yep, I'm leaving the hostesses behind, especially if the game randomly crashes and I can't save in the Quarantine Zone, frick that.
I like Ichiban, Kiryu, Tomi, and Cheetos.
For me, it was Hero Ichi/Host Tomi/Kunoichi Seonhee/Gangster Zhao
Hero is the most boring job in the game
But it's also the best by far, the true hero's bat does absurd damage
The one that strikes a lightning after you knock em out? It's good, but the game is already piss easy so there's like no point going for it unless you're fighting some b***hes like 5 robomichi
How's the alternate 7 star weapon? I only ever got 50 egestas and that's with the ones you get with the DLC so i just gave up on getting it.
It's not particularly stronger than any other ultimate weapon, and the special effect of it isn't that good either. Hero's skills also mostly suck ass.
Ichiban's best off an Aquanaut, but a lot of other jobs outperform Hero too.
I was under the assumtion that Aquanaut is better for Ichi if you have its ultimate weapon
Ichi, Adachi, Nanba, Tomi
because i am a pussy kiryu, ichi, adachi, saeko (healbawd only)
Adachi gunslinger is top tier
I played 7 on release, but completely forgot this character existed and wtf happened to her..
They offhand mention she's "over seas" in some conversation in 8. The fate of most Yakuza side characters.
completely overshadowed by Saeko. And Saeko now being overshadowed by Chitose.. kino
Was Chitose the only character who had jiggle physics?
Seems like it since you don't get to see Saeko or Seonhee in Hawaii cut scenes
yeah but even then in other cut scenes you can see Chitose's breasts bounce when she runs, they just nerfed the other girls
chitoSEX
Honestly I don't know what else they would've done with her. She was a totally optional party member and never appeared in any of the story cutscenes even if she was in your party. Plus they had to have some excuse for why Kasuga was only ever a stand-in manager and not the head of a multi-billion yen conglomerate
I didn't expect her to come back (nor should she have) but she gets mentioned so little I understand why people wouldn't see where the game said she went.
I'm mad we didn't get any cool optional party members from sujimon or dondoko Island.
Ending of 8 seems to imply that Tomi and Chitose have big things going on
Adachi because god knows how old he'll be by the time 9 comes around
Seonhee because she doesn't really have much impact outside of wanting Kiryu's dick
Saeko, Zhao, and Joongi are all probably gone, Tomi and Seonhee are probably returning, Chitose is a maybe, Yamai is joining
>Saeko gone
I wish, but it's not gonna happen
>Tomi returning
I wish, but it's not gonna happen
They don't have to be actual characters just a fun unique class.
They really missed an opportunity to license 'The Boys are Back in Town' for this one
that wouldve been unbelievably gay
That woulda been fun.
>tfw loved Y7 with all my heart
>found Y8 a drag
What is wrong with me?
Most of Y8 felt like a sitcom season, where nothing matters until the last episode where they pull some shit that does matter to keep you tuned in for the next season.
I'm in the same boat. I played 7 3 times but I found myself not giving a shit about the story for 8. I finished 8 recently and I haven't felt like playing premium adventure or even finishing the substories.
I can't imagine myself going back to 7 after 8, it's such a huge improvement gameplaywise
Sex with Ichiban.
Fricking homosexual.
These games only have 1 flaw. They are all the same.
Turn based helped a bit with that.
I hope if they keep the dual protag system for LAD 9 we get Yamai as the other protag, and Saejima joins his party
Yamai will never join the party, he's too unhinged for normal shenanigans
Yamai isn't unhinged at all. His fighting style is the only weird part of him. He loves women, he cares about his boys who all adore him too (see the ones who helped with the boat and the ones who are casually having a birthday party in the syndicate building), he protected Kiryu and Akane, he let Tomi go unscathed, he couldn't even take revenge on the woman betrayed him. Yamai is a stealth softie and he's not even that stealthy about it. You should have known he was going to become Ichiban's friend the moment he said "I'm not going to become friends with you" like a tsundere. He probably loves shooting the shit and won't be able to resist the drink linking and table talking.
>he protected Kiryu
After braining him with a crowbar, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what caused Kiryu to start hallucinating.
Kiryu and Ichiban both have extremely high Blunt tolerance. They're always hitting their heads on shit. A little crowbar ain't nothin'.
>Yamai bad
you didn't finish the game
>Rubber grenade
Why didn't they just kiss?
Just beat the final boss
Wow that was easy as shit
Is Legend or the Big Swell any better?
Start Legend right now and it'll be hard.
If you start it at the recommended level (aka you did Big Swell first) it's the same as Normal.
>Judgement and 7 are both amazing stories
>Their sequels improve on gameplay but absolutely shit the bed in terms of story
The number of plotholes in Ichiban's ending is baffling.
I thought Tendo and Sawashiro were awesome fricking henchmen. Infinite Wealth really shat the bed in this regard.
>Yakuza 8
>Daidoji are pissed at Ichiban they lost their two best agents cause of him
>Send THE GOAT after him
>Thematic backdrop is Ichiban and Saeko’s wedding
Book it, Yokoyama
The GOAT should kill Saeko at the start of the game so a better girl can be introduced and bonded with throughout
>Ichiban and Saeko wedding
>The Daidojis break during the party trying to kill Ichiban, kill her accidentally
>Ichiban it's completely broken, the guy you love for being a clown stops being a clown completely
No thanks
>the Daidoji kills Saeko at her own wedding
>Ichiban immediately forgives them because we all make bad decisions and they can still atone
Kino
>daidoji sics all their agents after you
>final fight is against their three best agents, shishido, nishitani III, and mine
>spoiler
Since seeing Gaiden kidnap Shishido, I would unironically love for this twist to happen, especially if Mine doesn't remember being in the Tojo Clan. He'd make such a vicious agent.
>every single person who died in the entire series has inexplicably survived and is either a bartender or a daidoji agent
>hanewa survived and is both a bartender AND a daidoji agent
I expected him to be in Infinite Wealth but so it goes, I hope him and Akiyama will make it to 9
Blame Gaiden being written after IW for whatever reason, same reason why none of Kiryu's neat daidoji tools appear in IW, despite them all making for perfect skills and Agent as a whole being a great fit for a second exclusive class for Kiryu, like how Ichi gets Freelancer and Hero
i refuse to use aquanaut because the surfboard looks moronic
Is there anything I should save the money I got from Dondoko for or should I just blow it all on getting the 35k weapons for everyone?
money comes easy so spend it all
there is a story related investment mid-late game but what you need is minuscule considering what each battle can net you at that stage
Is there any place to buy kunoichi weapons in Japan or do I have to wait till I get back to Hawaii?
The weapon shop in Chinatown, but there's a high level street boss just outside it that will be quite challenging unless you're overlevelled for that chapter.
with infintite wealths story being almost universally shit on, I hope they take note and let the gaiden writers take control for yakuza 9/future games.
The Gaiden writers are the same ones of Infinite Wealth, in fact I don't how they came up with that horse shit of a story.
They got a spin-off script a thousand times better
maybes its the classic tale of time constraints breed creativity or something, considering that game supposedly took around 6 months to make, as opposed to lad8 which was maybe 2-3 years.
8 was obviously rewritten at least halfway through development.
Gaiden was Furuta on main script whereas in IW he only worked as support. He's the co-writer for 0 and 6 and the lead writer for the Judgment games
Why do they keep using this no named gay throughout 8
hes the internet bully, hes like moist crtikal, The ultimate twittergay waiting to join twitter cancellation hate mobs
>akiyama as a main character again
you have to wonder what percentage of each game's budget is solely spent on voice talent
If Yamadera got too much expensive, recast and get someone more affordable
which way western man
Seonhee, fricking duh
The fricking tinder minigame is filled with nothing but zoomer speak, I fricking hated it.
Japanese women talk like twitter zoomers too, sorry
So you're saying it's true to life
Only twitter freaks say oomfie in every sentence.
How do you think people who prowl tinder all day talk?
Anyone know where the last two substories are?
I can't find them anywhere
49 is the matchmaking bullshit and the last one is when you get all the rapes
>Have to complete Miss Match just to get raped
Guess I gotta hunker in.
I completely forgot that existed, might have to grind the entire thing
There are only ten matches.
You do the matchmaking minigame until you clear out all the options, and then an old lady rapes you.
Then substory 52 is all of the women that raped Ichi getting mad that he didn't like it, and chitose assaulting him too for some reason.
Is the chink dub good?
It’s way better than the English dub. Snake Flower Kiryu actually sounds like Kuroda.
might actually try them out if I get the game, always loved games with multiple dubs, adds to the replayability
Dunno man, I like chinkspeak, they always sound light and funny to me
Chinese is too ugly of a language to want to listen too, regardless of performance quality. Just like French and German.
I want to strangle whoever decided to put the weapon needed for the 7* Kunoichi behind 75k fricking Suji league points. And the shogi too.
All of them are also dropped by certain street bosses.
I'm pretty sure that every ultimate weapon is dropped by a crown enemy you find on the map, except for the tennis ace and linebacker's, which you buy from the underground haunts.
Oh so that's where that knife is, I couldn't find it.
>We never saw Yamai’s back tat
Speaking of which why did Ebina have one I doubt the new Seriyu Clan was being strict about proper attire so it’s not like he needed to get one
please understand yamai was too cold to take off his shirt, he'd freeze to death in the hawaiian weather without it
I assumed he got one to blend in better amongst the yakuza he hates. Like having a tattoo gives him credibility.
The next game will show us Yamai's irezumi and Zhao's, because Ichiban will be back on Japanese soil fighting yakuza-related battles where tearing your shirt off is necessary.
>Yamai’s back tat
a-anon...please pay attention, he doesnt have one.
before he built his not-yakuza gang he was a yakuza
>Ichiban vs Shishido
>tfw Shishido is the last man to have experienced Kiryu's power at its prime before the cancer
>Shishido will one day fight Ichiban and be able to compare Ichi's strength to that of the Dragon he succeeded
>Kiryu's power at its prime before the cancer
Gaiden is definitely not Kiryu at prime. 5 or 2 is prime kiryu, 5 being the most likely one.
>never played yakuza
>tried like a dragon 1 on game pass for like 20 mins years ago when it was on there
>thought it was meh
>playing the man who erased his name on game pass now, enjoying it
where do i go from here should i play kiwami 1 next and go in ordre
>skipping to gaiden while knowing nothing of kiryu's story
for what purpose
i have pc game pass and the only ones on there currently are the man who erased , isshin and YLAD
0 isnt on gp right now
0 is like 8 bucks on gog right now
If it's the action combat you like, probably the best ones to do next would be Yakuza 0 or Judgement (a spinoff that takes place in the same world, but about a lawyer-turned-detective).
0's on gamepass so that one's easiest to go for.
>Judgement for combat
I'd rather tell him to buy LJ, since it's the best game gameplaywise, mortal wounds will just piss him off otherwise
i wish this song was a cd in lad8 https://youtu.be/K3YDYZhLOtc
where do i begin with yakuza
7.
bump
Release order, 0 could be a good option but it has way too many references to stuff in the later games (not to mention the jarring gameplay transition from it and kiwami 1 to kiwami 2)
Starting with 0 is fine, clearly 0 is a game where you should revisit once you're done with the whole series so you could go 'aha so that what it was', it is plenty replayable by itself
Sure, I don't necessarily disagree. Just saying from my experience I kind of wish I had more context. It's definitely a better introduction to the series than 7, although honestly I've just come to love these games so much I'm just glad I got into them at all
0,k1,k2,3,4,5,6,7,gaiden,8 if normal
1,2,3,4,5,0,6,7,gaiden,8 if based
I went 7, 0, K1, K2, 5, 3, 4, 6, 8. Pretty fricked up but I'm glad I did the others before 8. Even playing 0 before at least K1 was kind of a bummer in retrospect. It's perfectly serviceable as a standalone story but there are a lot of nods and references that you probably won't appreciate as much without knowing what happened in 1.
akiyama a best
does the quickstep fix for yakuza 3 actually work? getting conflicting reports from the mod's comment
it does but you really only notice when dodging attacks rather than just stepping for more room, when you dodge attacks kiryu practically fricking teleports behind people. i ended up deleting the mod because it was too hilarious.
>dodge
>NANI
no
anooooooooo, yagami-san??
>anooooooooo, yagami-san??
anooooooooo, yagami-san??
>anooooooooo, yagami-san??
AIEEEEEEEEEEEE YAGAMI-SAN TASUKETEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I want Ichiban to party up with the Tojo boys in the next game. Kiryu doesn't even need to be there.
>time to beat up renji for the 98900th time
actually never gets old, love flux fissure-ing this fricker across the street
