I have found games everywhere from bad to ok. A lot if them are way too expensive.
is it easy to pirate games on it? How's the screen visibility? My skin crawls at thinking of a non backlit screen for that price
I think so. You basically upload game files to there sideloading servers and it installs on the system. I don't see why you can't put anything in there and I really don't think they are tracking it, but who knows.
They'd absolutely move more units and thus more games if it was $100-150, but I think the potential margins on software can't outweigh the price cut at the rate and volume they're producing.
Also, the screen is good under moderate light but you really need to be at the right angle. The viewing angle and light reflection is on par with like a gameboy advanced
the appeal is to generate a bit of buzz when people ask "does the crank charge the console?" and immediately kill it off when you answer "no it does not"
I don't get the point. There's another meme handheld whose gimmick is that it's cartridge based, but I can at least sort of get that one. I don't see the point of this thing.
It's just weird and the crank makes devs think about new gameplay elements. It is definitely destined to fail but I bet a very small homebrew community will form. There are already like 400 games on the homebrew sites.

I appreciate the attempt to have a new controller input other than button or trigger.
I always a thought a twisty dial could be used for some gameplay elements if you use your imagination. When will a mainstream console add on an analogue button I wonder
I don't think cranks are an innovative input method, I've never played one but I believe all those fishing arcade machines feature one and they are old as frick.

It's better than the GBA display if only because the 1 bit screen has such high contrast
Because you could of bought actual good games on steam instead of this hipster moronation. Even the pocket chip was less moronic. Who's making games for this? Literally nobody.
you are so ashamed of your purchase you can't even admit it, or you can't afford it.
Counting on their site there's ~135 games. Granted a decent chunk are either novelties or shit, but that goes for basically any software library. If the handheld itself was cheaper I'd consider it since the games themselves are all $1-8, but as it stands it's too expensive. I'll wait for a major price drop or emulator.
I don't' even see a reason to emulate this, anything moderate good is going to come to pc anyway.

What would be my ideal console? >I hate the physical format >I don't have a modern screen (just an old tube TV) >I can only purchase games that are 100% free >I can only purchase games in digital format >ultra cheap console (price less than 100 dollars)
I hate the nintendo switch >I hate PC gaming >I hate steam deck
A modded Vita.
Although, they do tend to range from 100-150 in price and that's before any memory storage. But once you mod it, you're able to use one of those adapters that act like the Vita's memory card and use an SD with it.
Getting below 100 is going to be borderline impossible with your requests because everyone now thinks they're holding on to some mint condition shit and want mint-condition prices for it, even though what they're holding is a barely-functioning piece of shit.
Other than a modded Vita, other choices include a modded Wii U and a modded (3)DS
Did they go out of their way to come up with the literal gayest sounding name for a video game console possible?
Yeah.
Wasn't one of the games kind of sexo? I swear I remember seeing a dialogue box where the character was implied naked.
Probably. Anyone can make a game and there is basically no quality control.
Haha imagine making a game that just bricks the system hahaha
crank it, anon
now you get laughed at for buying this sòyface enabling device and you go back to gobbling dicks
Are there any good games?

I was just watching some guy on youtube showing off gameplay of a few, and they look pretty cool, but probably not $200 base + games + tax & tip cool.
Playdate still seems very much like a niche thing for people with more expendable income than brains.

Also this one looks fun.
Those screenshots look beautiful. What a waste

Yikes! I HATED that shit, the gbssp truly was a "I'm never going back" moment.
Can I play the games on pc/smartphone? Are they hardware locked?
There is a screen mirroring feature but I haven't messed around with it yet.
I still don't get the appeal of this thing. I only ever see it mentioned occasionally by some infantile gamedev.

quirky novelty toy for nerdy hipsters, it's the equivalent of vinyl records for music people
Surely the quality of the games is equivalent to a Game Gear
Are any of them even 3D?
game gear had colors, this is closer to a smoothly animated gameboy, no it doesn't have real 3d games but a few simulated 3d ones yes
I appreciate the attempt to have a new controller input other than button or trigger.
I always a thought a twisty dial could be used for some gameplay elements if you use your imagination. When will a mainstream console add on an analogue button I wonder
...modern consoles have 2 analog sticks and 2 analog triggers, there's a reason why dials aren't a popular choice anymore
I don't think cranks are an innovative input method, I've never played one but I believe all those fishing arcade machines feature one and they are old as frick.
you missed out, some of the 00s fishing games in the arcades are incredible
Man, I've always wanted to play that.
It's just as boring as actual fishing.
>The crank doesn't recharge the battery
now what indeed
crank it hard enough to recharge the battery
Top my score, homosexual.
I haven't broken 300
press B, you'll find me there.
I beat you by just a little
It's better than the GBA display if only because the 1 bit screen has such high contrast
You toss it into the garbage because you fell for a scam.
If you received the exact product, as advertised, how is it a scam?
Because you could of bought actual good games on steam instead of this hipster moronation. Even the pocket chip was less moronic. Who's making games for this? Literally nobody.
You're stupider than the people who bought this piece of trash.

>it'll be atleast ~$350 after shipping and taxes
Yeah no I don't think so

And something that is very munch cheap?
I'm looking for something that fits everything I'm looking for and is within the budget of a person from the third world.

you sound mentally ill, or perhaps just a stupider than usual thirdie
A miyoo mini or equivalent chinkheld
Looks good but it's too classy for me
Of course the only Keita Takahashi game of the past five years is on this thing.
>that game where you play as a mustache hipster riding a unicycle
they know their audience
For me, it's Sparrow Solitaire, the best game on playdate.
