Comms are like 75% a portrait contest now. There's a good chance that's it. You have to think like a golddigging prostitute when you make your portrait, and bait the simps which are 75%+ of the community. That means skimpy clothes, bright colors, weapon glows, etc. Or if you're male, make it funny/clever as best you can.

I commend BLM because I play BLM. They didn't have to go into roulette with it, they could've had a much easier time with tank/healer queue times or with easier to use classes.
I wouldn't trade that feeling of blasting flares on mob packs and watching their health bars get chunked for anything else in this game.
This. I always comm healers. Despite the healbawd memes, healing is the hardest and most active role in FFXIV. Unless the healer is a colossal fricktard, they get my comm as thanks for doing the job I don't feel like doing.
And this is a bigger problem with FFXIV in general. The pulls are harder to heal than the bosses by a long shot. The entire game post-ARR is designed around massive pulls which puts 3x more stress on the healer than any other job. Especially if the tank is under-geared or under-skilled. Healers essentially carry the group in 4-man dungeons. It's a stupid design on SE's part. It's not exciting. Just annoying (or plain boring if you're not healing).

he said "active" which is 100% true. Playing a healer is very twitchy. You have to do everything tanks and DPS are doing (moving, telegraph avoidance, AOE mitigation, spamming attacks, etc) while watching health bars and the enemy cast bars to prepare shields and group heals as needed in advance.
Anyone that says healing is the most involved and focused job probably sucks as a healer and just sits there on their WHM spamming Cure II and Medica.
Healers have to deal with cast times more than any casters do these days.
Healers have this problem where they're only fun when shit goes wrong and you have to try to salvage fights. In normal content that literally never happens outside of maybe day 1 alliance roulettes and with how reliant they have been on body checks in savage even when shit does go wrong you can't do shit. The best you can try to do is play shield healer and try to prevent shit from going wrong.
I played healer for the first time in Savage during the last tier and it was a huge slog except for the second phase of the final fight.
That shit was actually fun.

As someone that has done Extreme Trials and enjoyed them, how is Deltascape Savage difficulty wise?
I'm pretty new to raiding
Savage is quite a bit harder because mechanics either wipe the raid or give you damage down which can frick up the run. The mechanics themselves vary a lot between fights in terms of difficulty.
Deltascape isn't very hard though even synced if you run max gear level and echo, but with min ilvl and silenced it's a decent jump up from Ex.

4th floor at minimum ilvl to ultimate is not that big of a jump. Usually the first 4th floor in an expansion is easier but others are more of a challenge. In general the biggest differences are pacing, randomness and snapshots.
You'll notice savage has a lot of windows where the boss is not doing anything or is casting a tankbuster. These happen way less often in ultimate and the boss is usually doing something. Also the concept of pushing and holding doesn't exist in savage since Stormblood but is a real thing in ults, especially the old ones.
Like the other guy said mechanics wise it's not that big of a deal but the thing is that the fights are fricking long and the mechanics come in rapid fire.
If you go in blind it's so much harder than Savage, but with a guide when you can take it step by step it's not too bad.
The biggest difference is that you have to contend with stuff that no other fight ever has like performing unorthodox sequences and rotations, carefully charting out healing and mitigation and all that while dealing with straight up weird mechanics and even little puzzles.

I have very fond memories of getting some whacky EX trials in Mentor Roulette. The best one was getting a Thordan EX that was halfway through the timer, and there was only one other mentor in the party. We managed to clear it with like 45 seconds left and three people standing, after making all of these adjustments and having to explain mechanics to the sprouts. The overwhelming excitement from the whole party when we got him was 10/10.

Have you looked at them all? There are differing movesets between them all but some are just more fun to play than others. You should check out the skills and see who appeals to you. I've been playing Dark Knight forever. It's not the strongest class but fun for me to play as, while Warrior from what I hear, if you're playing your rotation right hardly ever needs to worry about heals either, because aside from having good damage, can also heal themselves through said damage.
If you want to learn Paladin is the best way, boring but super safe and efficient. Use it until you feel confident pulling wall to wall and then change to something more fun.

you need about 10,000 gems on average to get a permanent wardrobe unlock

Most people who play healers are in some fantasy that they are playing an "unfun role" because they aren't doing damage and are "babysitting" people, so they have a strange mindset that they are "morally higher" than DPS or Tank players because of that fantasy, and think they deserve praise or worship for it.
There is probably a word for it, idk.
It’s just a carryover of other games in which healers soloed like shit and were much rarer and necessary for delving. Now that anyone can put a healer cane and go to town (and they can solo fine) it’s just cultural inertia among western mmogays. Healers aren’t even role in need 90% of time, that’s tanks, and in pf outside of golbuttz healers aren’t any more difficult of a role.
