That show was the final death knell for broadcast television. So fricking disgusting.

Aside from the gratuitous nerd larping the show wasn't that bad. It got better in the last few seasons when they dropped the stupid le science omg I'm such a nerd jokes and became more of a sitcom about a group of friends getting older.

My dude once you start noticing it 75% of the show is an advertisement. Awfully nice dell xps in the OP. It's nothing but a commercial in disguise.

that's literally all network television and trashy movies that are rated PG-13. Even more "prestige" tv shows have ads in them but they're less obvious or it's just shit like a character driving a specific car.

They're just angry zoomies with no clue about the past. They don't even remember that there were entire segments where the cast used to give testimonials for products, much less the 'This program is presented by' bumps that they probably don't even recognize as advertising in their animus.

The show is shit but I don’t get why people pin it as the worst thing to ever happen to gaming and TV. It’s just a shitty show and not a soul takes it seriously.

A lot of idiots lifted their misogynistic nerd/gamer stereotypes right from the early seasons of the show. It's funny because back when that stuff took off I didn't know where it was coming from, and now that I've been watching the show lately and thinking about when it released, it all clicked.

Just because others have used it wrong doesn't mean you should. There's no such thing as a native port. It's either coded from the ground up natively for that system or it's a port. It can't be both.

A “port” is literally a term for a version of a game that can be played natively on a system that it wasn’t originally made for. It is being played natively because it is a specific version of the game made to run on the new system natively and is not being emulated.

So my gf likes the show and I've been watching through it with her. It's sad, in season 1 there are some actually good nerd / science jokes. They got 0 audience reaction, so then in season 2 they were dramatically reduced. By season 3 they're completely gone. Coincidentally, season 3 is where "Bazinga" starts so I'm assuming this is where things really turn for the worst.

      >It's sad, in season 1 there are some actually good nerd / science jokes

No there weren't. "Your relationship is like le Schrödinger's cat XDXD". They were cringy shoe horned science references. They stopped doing random science references because they were nauseating. The show got infinitely better when they took those out and stopped trying so hard to be nerdy. Nobody actually speaks like that. Not even the most autistic actual nerds speak like that.

Futurama had good science jokes, ones that the audience loved and that got built on during the episode.
TBBT had lame referential humor and laugh tracks. There were no good science jokes.

I can't remember how many seasons I watched, but I was absolutely astonished at how many people hated the series. I still like everything I saw, and think people are unfairly critical of it (probably because it hits too close to home for some insecure homosexuals), but you're right that they did cut back on the good stuff in the later seasons. They still have some fairly good gags up to where I watched though, I feel like I should watch the whole series, and see where it ultimately went.

The later seasons are good. I personally hated the hacky random science references in the early seasons. That was terrible writing.

Yeah watching through it now, I think the hatred was overblown. The show was a nerdy sitcom, and while it does have a bad habit of doing the "oh lets end this sentence with a funny science phrase for laughs" bit, the situations are usually funny enough. It's not deep, but again it's a sitcom.

I do think some morons thought that gamers and nerds genuinely acted like people in the show, but that's their fault for being morons, not the fault of the show.

Honestly, rewatch season 1. If it's something the audience laughs at, that isn't what I'm talking about. I don't mean "lol Schrödinger's cat" tier stuff, that was fairly well known even at the time.

The good stuff got no reaction, and I'm not saying it was every episode. But they dropped some decent ones in there.

In my region the show received nothing but praise. I was watching it for a long time and only dropped it because the theme of relationships everywhere started to tiresome. I think at the time people weren't used to this sort of 'wacky' humour so I was surprised that the west is actually aggressively hating on it.
