Playing Tales of Phantasia for the first time. From audiovisual standpoint, it runs circles around FF6 and its opera scene. As for the gamelay, i have no idea what I am doing.

unironically the most iconic text message in retro games
That’s not even in the Japanese script, dejap was the worst “translation” team in existence. Just as bad as working designs. They inserted their cringey humor in everything.
If Dejap is as good as Working Designs in livening up dry, flat japanese scripts with humour, then I'm playing every ROM they ever did.
Yeah weebs using Babelfish are know for their writing skills.
How dare you compare WD's excellent writing with decrap's unfunny trash
lel
in the japanese says
>Mint has that pure looking face
>but arche has that yariman looks.
yariman is just a term for debauched bawds so it kinda makes sense and is similar to the source.
Cool story bro
You screencapped a port.
Do you really need me to open up youtube and find the line in the SNES version? Can't we just skip that part?
They're already at sea, not in a port.
I had to stop playing the Dejap version of DQV because of how forced and dull they made the whole script, not to mention the excessive amount of swearing found in most rpg translations back in the early internet.
was this like an unofficial language patch or the actual English version?
Fan translation, the only official English version of Tales of Phantasia is the GBA version, which has its own problems.
The english iOS version is official too.
Doesn't exist anymore and we really shouldn't justify the fact that it did exist by remembering it. That was another level of abomination.
It's iconic, but not the most. Most iconic is probably "Thank You Mario, But Our Princess is in Another Castle."
we're talking to /vr/tards here, not them casuals

I am tales anon and I would never play a tales game single player.
People play Tales of with others...?
Played through all Tales games, except handheld and legendia, with my wife. It's cozy af tbh
Yeah, it's a great game.
So is Front Mission 1, Front Mission: Gun Hazard, Terranigma, and Shin Megami Tensei 2.
I'm convincing that if these games were released in English back in the 90s they would be discussed more often than stuff like FF4, FF6, and Secret of Mana, all of which are inferior.
Terranigma was released in English back in the 90s.
So you are just wrong
As
says Terranigma was released in English in the 90s. Front mission was also perfectly playable in the original jap for someone who knew no Japanese back then. I imported it. Easy.
Unoptimized PAL only
>le language is dry
never let the claps translate anything
Nips dont seazon they language
>From audiovisual standpoint, it runs circles around FF6 and its opera scene.
I don't understand this sentence. Are you trying to suggest the FF6 opera scene was not complete cold wet garbage?
