you can do the same thing with steam using steam rom manager
otherwise it's a matter of personal preference and customization
playnite has better customization but I find the UI to be shit but it works better for big screen mode
>you can do the same thing with steam using steam rom manager
I didn't know about this. Will try. Thanks
Playnite is kino if you have a dedicated gaming PC setup with a TV and want to launch/close games with your controller only, without having to double click shortcuts or do other manipulations from a distance, etc. The full screen mode is perfect for emulating the couch gaming plug-and-play console experience, it does it better than a console in fact. Always a blast to play multiplayer games with the family or friends.
It can also be good for keeping track of pirated/emulated games playtime as OP said. It can be redundant though, because steam already does the same thing. Moreover if you're playing games on desktop only and know where your emulators/games/shortcuts are you don't really need something like playnite, although it can be great if you have collectioner autism and want to organize your game libraries with pictures. Makes you feel like a buygay with none of the costs. This is really appealing to zoomers and normies
>indieslop
>low quality console ports
>coomslop
wow so this is the power of pc gaming
This, PCtards wish they have BLM supporting games and LGBT friendly cinematic experience we have.
>AAAslop for literal geriatric boomers
wow this is the power of console homosexuals...
I have that pc setup on tv but what does playnite have that steam big picture doesn't?
Can you tell it to display on a specific monitor only and to launch all games on that monitor, like Big Picture does? If so, I couldn't figure out how to do it last time I tried.
This shit is perfect, it's the ideal console experience.
saw this mentioned more and more and started using it two weeks ago, it's pretty cool
I used to love Launchbox until playnite
>Worth it?
Worth fricking what you fricking moron?
deez nuts
It makes consolegays seethe uncontrollably, especially tendies
buy an ad
>playnite shills
been seeing more of those in emulation threads, unironically buy an ad
what is wrong with a shortcut on the desktop
I don't have space for 895 shortcuts
Please stop shilling this. I don't want moronic normies to ruin another software I like.
>Claire's Quest Gold
Made me check.
I'm stupid - how did you create that? I assume visually it's a custom theme, but what matters to me is the row of icons on the very left. I can't figure out how to make those.
Steamdeck.
The theme is Ubiquity. You can rename the theme's icons to match your filters.
How'd you get the grid posters to look that good? Half of mine look like dogshit in grid view
I get most of my posters from steamgriddb. You can get a plugin that download posters, logos and background directly from it. Though you will be required to create an account in other to access its API key.
In general if a game is on Steam then it's easy to get high quality 600 x 900 posters just by downloading metadata from it.
why do you use playnite on steamdeck? how many launchers do you use there?
any other advantage? do you use it to sync savegames or something like that?
It's just a theme lol. I don't have a SteamDeck and you can't run this on Steamdeck anyway since it's a windows software (maybe you can run it through Proton, but I don't know, I'm no Linux wizard)
It helps keep track of my playtime, and provide a unified launcher for my legit, pirated, and emulated games (yes I know Steam also does it, but this one is piss easy to download metadata). It's very helpful when I turn on my TV for some couch gaming session.
Once you get past the 4-5K mark both gog galaxy and playnite become irresponsive and buggy
Works on my machine.
Would be easily more than 20k if I wasn't such a lazy ass lately.
jesus christ
What theme is that?
Mythic
why do people feel the need to know their game hours? I feel embarrassed every time I see I spend 100h on a game
autism
it makes me want to kill myself, all this time could've been re-allocated to learn something more productive
if you could have, you would have. kek. pointless trying to guilt yourself. you'd have to be incredibly dumb to have it never come up as you've played the games. this is a choice you've made. so long as you enjoyed the time, you're set.
As somebody who's been using it for a couple years, yeah I do like it, but the difference between major version releases (ie 9 to 10) broke quite a lot of addons and I can never get to look how I had it before. More annoyingly I remember they really pestered me to update when for these apps you shouldn't have to be on the latest one.
I guess what I'm saying is not use addons even if they look better than default since they will break
yes I do enjoy have some useless bloat running on my pc for no reason when I can just use desktop icons
>The capacity of tracking even emulated games total played time seems interesting
Why would anyone want to physically see their life being sucked down the drain?
I use it for keeping track of what I played last, no matter the library or even if it's piracy
also has this cool menu on a key combination so I can select a game from the last played ones in a click
>Playtime is directly visible right under the game name
Oh yeah, that's the good stuff. Also damn OP, 100 hours in Palworld? I'd make fun of you but you're a right proper Gamer.
I use it but not as a library manager. Just a visual excel sheet kind of thing where I keep track of video game information.
It's worth it to make consoleturds seethe
Playnite is good if you want to have a half decent couch UI for PC game streaming, with a controller, not sure why people would use it otherwise unless they care a ton about organizing and achievements
It does have some neat features and add-ons, adding all the non steam games into one giant library, downloading Metadata for pir8d games, playing trailers, you can set it to track achievements (lol who cares). There's a bunch of themes and it can also do stuff like track free game giveaways (epic slop). I also have mine setup so that if I'm looking to download a game, I can add a new game into Playnite, type the name into the blank feild, where it will search for Metadata and then provide direct links to automate the search on DDL and torrent sites. Anyone can do this easy anyway and the process isn't fully automated but I can control it from my phone if I'm out or in the other room.
The real benefit is if you have a good connection, you can use it to Stream PC games onto your TV and have a nice Steam Big picture mode-esque UI. You just need to download Moonlight + Sunshine + Playnite. I have mine setup with 720, 1080 and 4K streaming options which matches the games resolution with the specific TV model games play on. If you have shit internet or your pc isn't connected to the router via a cable probably not worth it. If your willing to put in some time to customize it, sure it's worth it but why even ask when it's free?
Why would you need internet to stream over your Wi-Fi to your television?
PC not being in the same room
this homie doesnt know how a home network works lmao
Real head scratcher, either I'm misunderstanding something, or you are.
What about android? Is there anything for my little pc?
It's an open source software. The only payment is the brain cells required to set it up.
It's pretty easy to set up and it's free, I really like it.
pc vegan thread
>tracking playtime
why are you zoomers so fricking obsesses with useless shit? just play the fricking game moron
muh playtime
muh achievements
muh howlongtobeat
muh community ratings
they care more about showing people that they play video games than actually playing video games
It helps me estimate if a game is good. If I waste time playing some slop it's good to know if I spent 3 hours being angry or 10, so I can just uninstall and move onto something else. Sorry if this is too much for you to understand, geriatrics are just too moronic
the irony in your post in mind braking
you actually might be 80 IQ
If I had a spare shitbox computer to slap behind the bigass TV, i'd do this
I'd set it up so my boomer dad can play games but I doubt he'd ever use it

yep, it's gaming time
playnite is good for h-games
which is by the way the only genre i play nowadays
When I use it to open a Switch game on Ryujinx then click "Yes" to update a bunch of files get deleted and I have to download Ryujinx again, does it happen to anyone else?
Yeah. Hope that helps.
I use playnite to keep track of games I played without resorting to notes. I need to note alot of things, so it all gets lost in mess pretty quickly. Having specific place for just games is handy. I wish, however, that there was a lighter application speficially for that purpose, without the launcher stuff, I don't need it.
>homie cant even remember the games he played
Well, not every man only plays Dota 2 and Fortnite.
i use launchbox, playnite setup was being funky ass weird and keeps doing that GOG Galaxy thing of listing EVERYTHING i link to it which becomes a tremendous pain in the ass to sort through
