I had a few FF7 save files going well over 100 hours as a kid, gold choco, having at all the gold saucer fluff and chasing game breaking materia. The older games had a lot of replay in em, can’t say I’ve had much drive to chase the extra open world stuff in the boy band game and the newest one doesn’t even have a party.
Go figure I hated 13 with a passion with it being restrictive/linear, female Cloud, diversity Hire Sazz, Snow, Luna, etc but at least those characters were fun and had personality. What I’d give to get more of that these days.

The game itself was fun, gearing up getting stronger, exploring the limited open world. That gameplay loop is what got me into the dreaded looter game type. Now I practically only play online only games but would love a nice jrpg that could be beaten inside of 25 hours.

What open world? The games were dreadfully linear on top of being a constant loading of multiple self contained instances.

Open world may be the wrong way to phrase it since it’s not what we consider open world today but I mean once you got a mode of travel, boat/airship and had full control over where you were going next and what you were trying to accomplish. Side quest, power up etc

My brother watched movies for 3 games I bought him trying to say he played them. I don’t really see why but I guess if you were never going to play it there’s no harm.

Many of the game *movie* uploads do that especially for things like Metal Gear where a lot of the cutscenes roll into/out of gameplay bits
