Treasures is barely even a game from what I understand. You just go around and collect jpegs. Builders is definitely one of the best DQ spinoffs though.
Treasures is fun and the finding treasure mechanic is addicting. Storywise its not as compelling as builders which play on what if scenarios of the plot of the main games

The worst-case scenario is being an ARPG. I prefer if the game lets you choose if you want to play as a regular DQ game or an ARPG. At least it could give you a replay value.

DQ was as notable to oldgays like classic megaman or mario was in the west. The quality has never significantly dropped off, but because it doesn't have that historical background in the west it just isn't as popular.
Final fantasy wouldn't be popular at all in the west either if 7 hadn't been such a breakout title.
DQ releases were all fricked up in the west for a long time, they were called Dragon Warrior with generic ass non-Toriyama style boxart and skipped a bunch of entries. They never stood a chance.

The only skipped entries were V and VI, and even then it was supposedly only because Enix of America was broke and couldn't afford to translate them. They were still able to localize games like ActRaiser and Mischief Makers though, so I kinda question that reasoning.

it'll be decent, a what it DQIV story scenario and the game will have around 500 monsters on release which is comparable to the Joker 3 expansion
I'm surprised they used the "what if" formula on a Monsters game for IV when V has the official Monster Tamer MC and giving him a what if where Pankraz survives or something could set up a cool Monsters game.
