Get on xiv mod archive and get whatever body mod appeals to you most, then get clothes for it, then get customize+ to change your proportions, either slightly, or downright ridiculous, Use penumbra to manage your installations of mods. Use ktisis to pose your character in gpose, or anamnesis if you want even more options. To fix the shitty in game lighting use reshade or gshade if you look up how to kill its autistic updating and de-malware it, or use it as is if you have no fear.

I think it's mostly fine - but I'm not a big fan of how it's been simplified in a lot of aspects, if not for me than for my friends in game who seemingly miss a lot of the complexity.
I do kind of think it's a shame that they've made dungeons so rote, though, I think the early dungeons at ARR are kind of cool and wish there were more like that. Variant dungeons are a step in the right direction for that, I think.

Variant is fine but early ARR dungeons are cancer. I just had a Sastasha run with a new tank that single pulled, and didn’t know how keys worked, got lost constantly, and it took like 30 minutes. Oh an no AOE. When you run a 90 dungeon after that it’s like drinking a nice cold glass of water
I don't mind that, I think the emphasis on the very straightforward 'two packs of mobs then aoe down to open the door' kind of dungeon isn't that exciting or interesting to play. It's efficient but it's not very fun.
Honestly it should be the other way around, where the lower the level the simpler the dungeon, and higher level dungeons get more maze like and tricky to navigate.

I just tested it with a friend, and in both cases it took her(male) HP to the same value. I thought it would work properly where Guard reduces the damage but anon is right and it's bugged.

Some jobs have very slightly different animations for certain races (see male Roegadyn WAR or Lala SCH/SMN) but they are the exception rather than the rule. I think they stopped doing it for HW jobs and onward.

Most games have stories that only last one title, maybe a single sequel. Games with long continuous narratives are hard to find. In JRPGs we have like, the Kiseki series, Kingdom Hearts, and FFXIV. That's about it. Everything else is very self-contained or something like Xenoblade that is referential to other games being in the same universe, but still self-contained stories.
And as Kiseki and Kingdom Hearts have shit stories, I appreciate FFXIV for having a relatively high quality through multiple expansions.

By current gameplay do you mean the actual 1-2-3 rotations and the two minute meta that everyone is critical of? Or the content structure with raids/criterion/ultimate/casual stuff?
For the first, I'm okay with the gameplay, but I shouldn't have to settle for lowest common denominator balancing because they want to pander to casuals so every job is easy. I liked old job designs where things may not mesh up well, and finding the parts of a fight that worked well with your job was more interesting.
I just don't like the idea that we can't have fun or interesting things, because it may not be inclusive to literally every one.
For the latter content structure, I dunno, I think it's fine and not that different from previous expansions. People will b***h about no field operation, but I know people b***hed constantly about diadem and eureka when those were current anyways. I think it's just more people catching up and being current with the game, instead of joining and having 3+ expansions of content to experience ahead of them.

I truly do not relate to people’s criticisms at all, it’s like they are playing a different game, and honestly, maybe they are. Most of the story “criticism” comes from
people who skipped all the cutscenes and already had an opinion before they even started. I reckon it’s a similar situation
Maybe it's harder to understand if you didn't play back in HW or SB before they made sweeping gameplay adjustments. But even just in more recent history, you can look at changes like the Paladin mini-rework. A job that used to have a longer rotation centered around optimizing their DOT uptime and required some knowledge of when to drop Atonements based on uptime and your skill speed. It's damage was spread out across it's entire rotation which made it "weaker" compared to the other tanks that had more centralized burst during the 60/120 second windows. So what did they do to change Paladin? Removed the DoT, centralized everything into the 60/120 second burst, and brought it back to incredibly simple 123-4555 repeat with no real optimization to be made if the boss forces downtime on you.
Dragoon used to be a seriously intimidating job to play, having to manage multiple buffs and debuffs like Heavy Thrust and Phlebotomize, which were outside of your standard 1234 combo. Life of the Dragon used to be something you actually had to pay attention to the timer on and keep active, rather than just being handed to you for free. Now instead of being mindful of any of that, you just press your buttons as they come up, and everything lines up for you automatically. The only difficulty is if you die or desync your Life of the Dragon and have to try and fix it.
Everything has been brought into line of Downtime rotation building some resource, spend resource every 60/120 seconds. They may be differently flavored, but the game used to have a lot more variety and different flows to jobs.

Meh. I'm normally a Monk main, but played Dragoon this last tier and I totally understand why it's being reworked in DT. It gets some flavor in having a lot of oGCD jumps, but their potencies are so small that they feel unimpactful. The fact that spineshatter and Dragonfire dive essentially the same damage and effect just make them seem like filler. There were some cool moments in fights like P10S where fitting in all your jumps during burst while moving across the arena felt really good to master. But at the end of the day, all of the skills like Nastrond, Wyrmwind Thrust, Raiden Thrust, the second half of Fang and Claw/Wheeling Thrust are all just given to you for free for doing your normal 1234 rotation. Even in more recent memory we at least had to do positionals to get the enhanced potency on the second half of Fang/Wheeling. Now it's just free. I can't tell you how boring it was to see Wyrmwind Thrust was another "get an eye after doing your normal rotation just like life of the dragon" mechanic. Just more of the same. They're obviously can't think of anything more creative to do with the job, hence reworking it to allow for new direction.

I liked HW BRD for its buff planning, DoTs, and stance dancing
I liked HW MCH for its stance dancing, ammo management, and wildfire prep
I liked HW DRK for its MP management and blood price shenanigans
I liked HW DRG for its Gierskogul/BotD maximization
I liked SB MCH for its ammo management, wildfire prep, and heat management
I like HW/SB NIN for enmity management, DoT management, mudras, trick attack and even keeping up slashing if I had to
I liked HW/SB ranged/casters for MP/TP assists and palisade/apoc/MP passing as well
I didn't really heavily get into any of the other jobs back then, but I didn't need to and were happy that they could have stayed the way they were
Now, I have a bunch of jobs that do a 123, get oGCDs at 50 points, and have one combo GCD to extend a buff and another that does 10-20 potency more damage and a bunch of shit to dump every 2 mins with a 1000 potency GCD at the end of it

HW was such a step down from ARR, particularly for tanks and healers.
Maybe it's harder to understand if you didn't play back in HW or SB before they made sweeping gameplay adjustments. But even just in more recent history, you can look at changes like the Paladin mini-rework. A job that used to have a longer rotation centered around optimizing their DOT uptime and required some knowledge of when to drop Atonements based on uptime and your skill speed. It's damage was spread out across it's entire rotation which made it "weaker" compared to the other tanks that had more centralized burst during the 60/120 second windows. So what did they do to change Paladin? Removed the DoT, centralized everything into the 60/120 second burst, and brought it back to incredibly simple 123-4555 repeat with no real optimization to be made if the boss forces downtime on you.
Dragoon used to be a seriously intimidating job to play, having to manage multiple buffs and debuffs like Heavy Thrust and Phlebotomize, which were outside of your standard 1234 combo. Life of the Dragon used to be something you actually had to pay attention to the timer on and keep active, rather than just being handed to you for free. Now instead of being mindful of any of that, you just press your buttons as they come up, and everything lines up for you automatically. The only difficulty is if you die or desync your Life of the Dragon and have to try and fix it.
Everything has been brought into line of Downtime rotation building some resource, spend resource every 60/120 seconds. They may be differently flavored, but the game used to have a lot more variety and different flows to jobs.
By current gameplay do you mean the actual 1-2-3 rotations and the two minute meta that everyone is critical of? Or the content structure with raids/criterion/ultimate/casual stuff?
For the first, I'm okay with the gameplay, but I shouldn't have to settle for lowest common denominator balancing because they want to pander to casuals so every job is easy. I liked old job designs where things may not mesh up well, and finding the parts of a fight that worked well with your job was more interesting.
I just don't like the idea that we can't have fun or interesting things, because it may not be inclusive to literally every one.
For the latter content structure, I dunno, I think it's fine and not that different from previous expansions. People will b***h about no field operation, but I know people b***hed constantly about diadem and eureka when those were current anyways. I think it's just more people catching up and being current with the game, instead of joining and having 3+ expansions of content to experience ahead of them.

I think it's mostly fine - but I'm not a big fan of how it's been simplified in a lot of aspects, if not for me than for my friends in game who seemingly miss a lot of the complexity.
I do kind of think it's a shame that they've made dungeons so rote, though, I think the early dungeons at ARR are kind of cool and wish there were more like that. Variant dungeons are a step in the right direction for that, I think.

To fix the shitty in game lighting use reshade or gshade if you look up how to kill its autistic updating and de-malware it, or use it as is if you have no fear.

The Abyss you threw them in is a torrential storm of aether that no one could ever hope to enter. Aymeric was in a frantic rush to get rid of the eyes before something bad happened to you and Alphinaud while you were holding them in your hands and thought that was the best move in the moment.

Just Heavensward alone would take roughly 80 hours if you were to rush through the main story quests. This is just not an issue with XIV; every god damn Final Fantasy title is obtusly long.

Most games have stories that only last one title, maybe a single sequel. Games with long continuous narratives are hard to find. In JRPGs we have like, the Kiseki series, Kingdom Hearts, and FFXIV. That's about it. Everything else is very self-contained or something like Xenoblade that is referential to other games being in the same universe, but still self-contained stories.
And as Kiseki and Kingdom Hearts have shit stories, I appreciate FFXIV for having a relatively high quality through multiple expansions.
With the exception of Heavensward, Kiseki is better than XIV story in general.

By current gameplay do you mean the actual 1-2-3 rotations and the two minute meta that everyone is critical of? Or the content structure with raids/criterion/ultimate/casual stuff?
For the first, I'm okay with the gameplay, but I shouldn't have to settle for lowest common denominator balancing because they want to pander to casuals so every job is easy. I liked old job designs where things may not mesh up well, and finding the parts of a fight that worked well with your job was more interesting.
I just don't like the idea that we can't have fun or interesting things, because it may not be inclusive to literally every one.
For the latter content structure, I dunno, I think it's fine and not that different from previous expansions. People will b***h about no field operation, but I know people b***hed constantly about diadem and eureka when those were current anyways. I think it's just more people catching up and being current with the game, instead of joining and having 3+ expansions of content to experience ahead of them.

I truly do not relate to people’s criticisms at all, it’s like they are playing a different game, and honestly, maybe they are. Most of the story “criticism” comes from
people who skipped all the cutscenes and already had an opinion before they even started. I reckon it’s a similar situation
Maybe it's harder to understand if you didn't play back in HW or SB before they made sweeping gameplay adjustments. But even just in more recent history, you can look at changes like the Paladin mini-rework. A job that used to have a longer rotation centered around optimizing their DOT uptime and required some knowledge of when to drop Atonements based on uptime and your skill speed. It's damage was spread out across it's entire rotation which made it "weaker" compared to the other tanks that had more centralized burst during the 60/120 second windows. So what did they do to change Paladin? Removed the DoT, centralized everything into the 60/120 second burst, and brought it back to incredibly simple 123-4555 repeat with no real optimization to be made if the boss forces downtime on you.
Dragoon used to be a seriously intimidating job to play, having to manage multiple buffs and debuffs like Heavy Thrust and Phlebotomize, which were outside of your standard 1234 combo. Life of the Dragon used to be something you actually had to pay attention to the timer on and keep active, rather than just being handed to you for free. Now instead of being mindful of any of that, you just press your buttons as they come up, and everything lines up for you automatically. The only difficulty is if you die or desync your Life of the Dragon and have to try and fix it.
Everything has been brought into line of Downtime rotation building some resource, spend resource every 60/120 seconds. They may be differently flavored, but the game used to have a lot more variety and different flows to jobs.
Most of that is for the better though, dragoon is in a better state now than it has ever been

Meh. I'm normally a Monk main, but played Dragoon this last tier and I totally understand why it's being reworked in DT. It gets some flavor in having a lot of oGCD jumps, but their potencies are so small that they feel unimpactful. The fact that spineshatter and Dragonfire dive essentially the same damage and effect just make them seem like filler. There were some cool moments in fights like P10S where fitting in all your jumps during burst while moving across the arena felt really good to master. But at the end of the day, all of the skills like Nastrond, Wyrmwind Thrust, Raiden Thrust, the second half of Fang and Claw/Wheeling Thrust are all just given to you for free for doing your normal 1234 rotation. Even in more recent memory we at least had to do positionals to get the enhanced potency on the second half of Fang/Wheeling. Now it's just free. I can't tell you how boring it was to see Wyrmwind Thrust was another "get an eye after doing your normal rotation just like life of the dragon" mechanic. Just more of the same. They're obviously can't think of anything more creative to do with the job, hence reworking it to allow for new direction.
Don't forget how DRG doesn't even get the third and final part of its standard rotation until level 26.
Doesn't even get any AoE until 40. Early dungeons are a slog with Dragoons.

I liked HW DRK for its MP management and blood price shenanigans
I liked HW DRG for its Gierskogul/BotD maximization
I liked SB MCH for its ammo management, wildfire prep, and heat management
I like HW/SB NIN for enmity management, DoT management, mudras, trick attack and even keeping up slashing if I had to
I liked HW/SB ranged/casters for MP/TP assists and palisade/apoc/MP passing as well
I didn't really heavily get into any of the other jobs back then, but I didn't need to and were happy that they could have stayed the way they were
Now, I have a bunch of jobs that do a 123, get oGCDs at 50 points, and have one combo GCD to extend a buff and another that does 10-20 potency more damage and a bunch of shit to dump every 2 mins with a 1000 potency GCD at the end of it
You can point out how MNK actually has a sticker system (like SAM) or how NIN has mudras, but that's the extent of it with everything else just being GCDs to build up to something that you unceremoniously spend under party buffs

I think it's mostly fine - but I'm not a big fan of how it's been simplified in a lot of aspects, if not for me than for my friends in game who seemingly miss a lot of the complexity.
I do kind of think it's a shame that they've made dungeons so rote, though, I think the early dungeons at ARR are kind of cool and wish there were more like that. Variant dungeons are a step in the right direction for that, I think.
Variant is fine but early ARR dungeons are cancer. I just had a Sastasha run with a new tank that single pulled, and didn’t know how keys worked, got lost constantly, and it took like 30 minutes. Oh an no AOE. When you run a 90 dungeon after that it’s like drinking a nice cold glass of water
