Remember the tried and true Chris method: double the amount of everything, but then nerf the options so that you effectively only have two or three viable choices.
>just going to replace the campaign and not the endgame means its DOA.
It provides an alternative campaign you can play either.
Endgame is fine, just needs a way to cut down on the various league mechanics.
They needed to just make a fresh start, with a brand new skill tree, mechanics, campaign and endgame to be able to draw new people on with a level playing field. Their cowardice in backing off from that to just make it an optional replacement for the shit everyone just breezes through in a few hours and doesn't care about pretty much epitomizes the brainless design decisions they've been making for years.
>Endgame is fine, just needs a way to cut down on the various league mechanics.
This hasn't been an issue for a couple of years. Atlas passive tree is honestly great. The issue right now is build variety. Patches without a long list of skill gem balance changes should not be a thing.
"the endgame" is the least shitty thing about poe though. the overall maps loop with mechanics sprinkled on top is peak arpg gameplay. what poe needs is better engine, more meaningful content such as gems, lots of rebalancing, link system rework alone would go a long way towards improving build diversity while making gearing less anal. poe2 seems to provide all that. it's a shame they spend so much resources on acts but what you gonna do... doesn't mean it all ends with acts.
This. Every league I think about playing, and quickly abandon the idea when I remember a prerequisite of every character is a 6-7 hour speed run of acts to get to actual content
All the changes they're making (which [Everyone Disliked That].jpg) in PoE are the proposed changes that are coming to PoE2.
Bald moron killed the series so bad that they had to tell him to frick off and make his Gran Autismo "Hardcore" mode and try to staunch the bleeding by reversing his nerfs outside of that mode.
The only thing I remember is that June mentions that on her tribe it's common for two women to get together and adopt a bunch of orphans in lieu of a family, and that she wanted to do that with Zana.
Too bad for her, Zana only had eyes for that big thick Sirus dick and she currently exiled herself after he dies
How the frick can any new players even start PoE?
There's a trillion league mechanics/mini-games at this point and absolutely no indication of which ones are worthwhile to do.
You just pick one or two and go with that. But I wouldn't recommend starting the game at all. Or giving a shit when you start. It's an online casino coated as an arpg today. The game and fun was almost entirely deleted out of the game, wtih only nu-fans defending the bullshit today.
The 'complexity' is laid out by the wiki and youtube homosexuals doing tutorials on literally everything. The complexity is often just for the sake of it and if you look through it, just on a surface level.
>Needing to use a wiki to ARPG
Bald morons first mistake. His second was nerfing shit into the ground when Zoomers wanted Zoom Zoom.
If your ARPG requires me to read a novella to understand your systems, you're fricking moronic and need to be fired into the sun.
>Diablo 2 >Pre 1.10 >Put points in Skeletons/Elements/Auras >Done >Post-1.10/synergies >Put points into Skeletons and Golems and other things that buff skeletons/put points in Elements, Auras and points into stuff that buff those. Done.
PoE1-2: >DUDE! FINAL FANTASY X'S SPHERE GRID SYSTEM! >DUDE! NO LOCKS! YOU CAN GO *ANYWHERE!* >BUT YOU'LL FRICK OVER YOUR BUILD SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE SPHERE GRID LMAO
Because 90% of them aren't. And I can't tell you which ones are because they keep buffing and nerfing them randomly each league. Then again, with new atlas buffs, most of them are good enough, as long as you focus on it. Like, it's a difference between making some currency and literally printing currency. So since you're just starting out pick whatever looks fun to you and focus on it. If you get bored, switch into something else. All these mechanics were league mechanics over the years, people who played the leagues had time to experience them.
i think its worse for players that played a few years after the game was first released, i wanna play again but the game has changed a lot (for the worse) and im thinking i rather wait for PoE 2 than try to understand how the frick is PoE supposed to work now
PoE has thoroughly exhausted all possible potential of D2 formula. Nothing more can be made out of it. One game going this just like that is quite an achievement, but it can't go on forever. It would have been on the decline even if its devs weren't such a greedy stuck up morons, because there is nothing more to make out of poe.
Bald moron won't be able to milk this cash cow forever, but deep inside he knows he won't ever make another one like that because this one succeeded mostly by accident, so he will keep unsuccessfully trying to squeeze more out of it.
Still it not only had a great run, but also mogged every single d2 derivative arpg that exists and will exist in future. Genre is solved. If you want to make arpg with focus on itemization and character building, you will have to make it with some completely new gameplay formula as foundation.
>genre is solved
Honestly, the genre can only be saved by leaning more into the twin stick shooter branch and making combat rely more on mechanical skill. Everything else is a dead-end.
The single focal point of how isometric arpg formula can be fixed is decoupling attack aiming and movement from the same input, mouse pointer. PoE meta that though all those years of rebalance and powercreep eternally consists of skills that allow player to focus on character movement without interrupting damage dealing (minions, cyclone, DoT, etc) is perfect showcase of that issues.
you'd have to fundamentally change the way PoE is designed to stop players from going zoom-zoom every build, because speed is the ultimate loot multiplier. they've tried to do this league after league by nerfing anything that doesn't make you stand in place for a while, but this doesn't really change how players interact with the game. what it does do is stop people from clearing screens so fast the servers crash.
diablo attempts to get around this by making movement skills shit for damage and putting cooldowns on fricking everything, but that's ass to play
all that said, i've used gamepad controls since the day they released cause it makes melee/single target aiming 99% less cancerous.
Poe just feels like complete shit to play on low speed. It's issue of game engine and game design. For example Grim dawn is considerably slower game, but it doesn't feel like shit to play on its speed.
I've only played 12 hours of grim dawn, and it was basically just the opening few areas on various characters. every time i try to play i feel like enemies don't stand out enough from the background, and the constant foliage/trees give me a headache trying to identify anything. I've never had this issue with other games and have nearly perfect vision, so I dunno if it's just me or something about the games art/graphic design.
that said, I think it's an issue of scaling. from what I remember everything in grim dawn can take decent chunks out of your health and attacks relatively often.
white mobs in PoE never really pose a threat to players at any point in the game, except when you get to maps and can roll multiple %phys added as elemental damage.
They started to go back through the early game and retune enemy damage/hp and for one league or so act 1 was unironically the hardest part of the game, but since then I don't think they've done much, and new shit has made early game mostly irrelevant again anyway
You just pick one or two and go with that. But I wouldn't recommend starting the game at all. Or giving a shit when you start. It's an online casino coated as an arpg today. The game and fun was almost entirely deleted out of the game, wtih only nu-fans defending the bullshit today.
>It's an online casino coated as an arpg today
It was a better casino previously. I enjoyed leveling a Cyclone toonie and just spin to win around a map for that ding. Now the game literally doesn't drop shit. First they moved all the drops into loot goblins and now they killed loot goblins but didn't return loot. It took me 2 weeks to drop my first divine this league, playing daily. The league before that I'd drop one pretty much every day.
>It took me 2 weeks to drop my first divine this league, playing daily.
I dropped poe more than a year ago and I still get confused when I read shit like this due to being unable to wrap my head around bald moron chimping out so hard he swapped roles of ex and div in craft. Just how all-consuming their absence of ideas must be if they resorted to completely flipping foundations of game's established economy that existed almost for its entire history upside down like this, just to say "see we still got cool new content".
Agree. It also fricked with casual players because previously you could reliably farm exalt cards. Now divines only have 2 cards, both of which are rare. This league also shits out chaos like crazy but bald moron decided against adding any chaos sinks, so divine prices skyrocketed to 300c, until GGG supposedly intervened and quietly increased divine drop rates. This change was also supposed to make unique items more valuable, but 99.9% of them are still 1 alch trash. So he literally achieved nothing, while shitting on people who already struggled.
>GGG supposedly intervened and quietly increased divine drop rates
They do too much of this shit, flying by the seat of their pants and then quietly changing things when they realize they fricked up. It doesn't feel good playing a game like this that clearly isn't planned out in any kind of organized fashion by the developers, and it's insulting to the players when they have to fix things but don't even bother to announce it because they know they screwed up and want to keep it quiet.
i literally dropped this league because i tried doing sanctums as soon as they were presented (and with no movement skills) and couldn't figure out if I was fricking up that bad or if they actually expected me to intentionally skip them until much later.

It makes me laugh thinking about GGG's testers playing Sanctum and not realizing it was basically uncompleteable as melee for the first week. I've never seen a new encounter exemplify how fricked the imbalance is in a game before.
>Now the game literally doesn't drop shit.
That's incorrect. I picked the game back last week after a brief hiatus and it dropped a few Divines and Exalts on alch-and-go maps.
And each divine is 275c, so it will take forever to upgrade your build unless you:
1) get lucky with multiple divine drop
2) get lucky with divine altars
3) autistically farm the same content for 12 hours a day for a week
4) craft gear to sell (which requires investment)

Can bathfinder cap res with flasks at least? That's what I thought. Anyway, let me craft this explosion bow real quick, surely that will be way cheaper

Nobody crafts that now, you can use the new meme flask.

Why would you need flasks to cap your res? Sure it's nice to do with Mageblood, but I could easily cap them even on my Manabond Mjolner Hierophant (who runs almost all uniques).

If fun builds were actually working without those, there wouldn't be a fricking problem. I don't want to play generic poison dot shit every league, sorry.
Honestly, when they added endless delve, it made me wonder why the frick they decided to spend so much time and effort creating a new campaign when all people just want is an early levelling system which is semi open and is simply about killing shit. I know poe 2 changes things like how sockets work and adds things like transformation, but no one fricking wants a new campaign, if anything, I kind of dread it if it is as randomized as they said it would be.
>killing hillock grants you level 1 no matter your XP
they could replace acts with 60 white maps where every boss kill gives a level and no one would complain
>regular players, and minmaxers play your game >get pissy that minmaxers are minmaxing >make it much harder to get good loot by making it so gear rolls are far shittier on average >minmaxers end up minmaxing anyways even though it takes them longer >regular users now have to minmax to even play the game since its balanced around this
the philosophy of balance for this game is complete garbage and needs to be totally rethought for poe2.
I fully agree and it most likely won't happen. Quite a shame, as my friends dropped it because of that. They will never come back to it because of the ever-increasing grind.
It's eternally in purgatory, and it's better to remember it for what it was, than coming back to it.
>and needs to be totally rethought for poe2.
Given Bald moron is part of the design team for 2 and it took them 10 leagues (or there about) to demote him to "morons autismo mode" in PoE1? Not going to happen.
Every single league I play garbage and then hate myself
I played Energy Blade Trickster as league starter and on the same patch it was introduced, it was beyond miserable
I always go ED Contagion league starter and frick ass with it. I tried like an hour of this current league and it seems pretty shit for these mechanics though.
It makes me laugh thinking about GGG's testers playing Sanctum and not realizing it was basically uncompleteable as melee for the first week. I've never seen a new encounter exemplify how fricked the imbalance is in a game before.
I don't think they listen to play testers. At best they check crash reports. Maybe if the mechanic outright doesn't work, but otherwise they ship it without a second thought.
The game is also not balanced for anyone but streamers and neets.
It makes me laugh thinking about GGG's testers playing Sanctum and not realizing it was basically uncompleteable as melee for the first week. I've never seen a new encounter exemplify how fricked the imbalance is in a game before.
Why wouldn't they? They will just fix it over the next 3 weeks and reddit will be happy. It took the entire community going mad over loot goblins for Chris to finally realize he was a moron and revert it. Brought it back to how it was the league prior and everyone praised GGG (for doing nothing basically).
You weren't there for the 1st day of heist then. Your heist meter would build just from being spotted by enemies like it's an actual stealth mechanic. It was quite literally unplayable. They changed it within a day.
I was, I think Sanctum just exposed a glaring imbalance that should have been caught instantly. Heist early on was a joke because the correct way to play was to run past every mob and never kill anything because it would jack up your meter.
>the crafting is dogshit, if you get that chase item you're only about 1/100th of the way there, since now you need to craft it 1000 times so it does what you want >doing the same fricking 4 hour campaign every league >skill tree is pathetically obtuse, sure you can pick whatever skill you want but it'll be absolutely rubbish because normal people don't read the 6 hour long manifestos for each patch and know what the changes to good spells are >group players progress 4x faster than solo players >only 1 activity to do endgame (maps) for majority of the time, 1% of other time is bosses/delve/other shit
>4 hour campaign
I came to post that you are fricking Black person.
This clearly shows that you use only the same two or three certified ubermeta builds that allow this, which don't change for years, and you've been eating that all this time.
>we've entered the timeline where PoE kills itself and Diablo IV manages to survive unscathed
If you actually have hope for Diablo 4 you haven't been keeping up with the updates.
>armor stat also gives defense towards magic/elemental ultimately making it just a generic and shallow defense stat >gearing is just shallow green up arrow vs red down arrow shit, completely oversimplified dogshit >annoying harvest from open world mechanics before dungeoning similar to doing dailies as if it's a mobile game
You are kidding yourselves.
I'm going to play D4 because I'm a stockholm syndrome cuck but like says everything about it seems like trash. I wish I just went into it blind instead of following the development of it.
Your guys' doom posting is a league late. This was a successful league that had the highest retention in the last 3 years. Everything about Diablo 4 is showing it to be a combination of Diablo 3 with mobile/mmo elements like Lost Ark. Keep on doomposting, poe aint going nowhere, homosexuals.
D4 is going to be trash but that doesn't make PoE any better. If this league doesn't have a multi-page skill gem and ascendency balance section I'm not going to bother playing. It's been basically the same meta for a year now. >This was a successful league that had the highest retention in the last 3 years.
Because people were happy to finally be able to play PoE again after a year of Archnem completely ruining the game.
>attack power and armor (armor is just a rebranded generic cover-all defense stat) >shitty goyslop UI >standardized item sizes removes souls and any decision making around managing your inventory >shitty generic israeliteel system just like in D3 >Everything completely streamlined for consoles
That being said, the fact you even asked that probably makes me think it's your kind of zoomer game. Enjoy.
I've played poe for ten years an see no issue here. The combined defence stat might even make it easier to balance the game, and therefore make melee combat viable. Sounds more like a case that you have GGG's dick in your ass and draw self worth from grinding temporary pixels in the supposed dark souls of arpgs.
Even people (like me) who have nothing to do with Path of shit acknowledge it's a shitty dumb downed system that doesn't belong in ARPGs even since D3. have a nice day.
>attack power and armor
Attack power is the brainlet damage measurement like the DPS stat in D3, it's not a real stat because it only accounts for anything that general damage increases including elemental bonuses or % damage to enemies with some debuff. Armor only applies 50% of its DR to non-physical damage and resistances are still in the D4. >shitty generic israeliteel system just like in D3
There are no +main stat gems like D3.
I'm not even claiming it's going to be some really deep game, but at least get your criticism right.
What the actual frick is wrong with Blizzard. Why the frick did I get my hopes up? One fricking screenshot shows so much wrong with the game and the mentality of the devs.
Fun to make builds, fun to push endgame, fun to farm. High skill ceiling if you want to push ladder. Still enjoyable in hardcore. Honestly lots of that stuff is still true, but the game has definitely weakened over the years.
There should be games that exist for people who want to go hard on them for 16 hours a day without trying to cater to broader more casual audiences. Frick off frogposting moron..
The whole game is the good part if you're playing it for the first time. The challenge with this game type is keeping people entertained on their 100th new character (and POE fails at it pretty hard imo)
>Games which force you to grind more than a total of 1-3 hours until you get to the "fun parts"
that IS the fun part. grinding so you can see your build continually obliterate large hordes of enemies with insane modifiers
Speaking of shitty arpgs, anyone keeping up with last epoch? Last time i tried it, it was an unoptimized mess that somehow looked even worse than grim dawn
I mean, the non braindead part is gearing your character properly so you can go further into endgame without dying but the problem with ARPGs like this is it takes 30 hours before any actual decision making is required.
yes, i will play PoEs next league(some self-cast bullshit like Arc) and yes diablo IV will be trash.
NO ARPG EVER WILL BEAT THE ATLAS MAP AS ENDGAME CONTENT.
Unironically based, PoE is still the king and bounced back with Sanctum league. ARPGs are the one genre I really don't give a shit about what Ganker has to say about them. You guys are braindead morons when it comes to them.
The next league will probably be filler, but he league that comes out after that, immediately as Exilecon 2 ends is supposed to have some mysterious hype around it. There is a small chance it's the start of PoE2.
the next league is suppose to be the year long content update league where they put their big change into the game.
The last one was when they added siege of the atlas which added searing exarch and eldritich whachtamacallit.
If the next league is filler then they are really in dire straits.
It's not as complicated as it looks. You go towards health to have enough while leveling and get damage as needed, the end. Follow a build game if you want. I'm not even saying you'll like the game, but that's such a dumb low IQ reason to not give it a chance.
Reminder that 80% of the morons that come into poe threads on Ganker to shit on the game are dumb morons from /poeg/ on /vg/ that actually hate the game but yet still spend hours every day trying to trash on it in their general. Nobody gives a shit about your mindbroken opinions.
All generals either autistically hate their game or don't discuss it at all and instead form a community of a bunch of weird people that find every way to not discuss the game.
I played PoE for a little bit. It felt like they made a lot of cool mechanics and stuff, but they forgot to make an actual game around it. Also, it's pretty unoptimized.
the real problem is the leagues are too short + reset the game / progress every time. literally double the league time so I can actually complete the fricking game while enjoying the new content / gameplay style without a farmed economy of the perm mode maybe.
>literally double the league time so I can actually complete the fricking game while enjoying the new content
A month in, the league economy is already dead. They made this league longer and it's been dead for like a month by now. Unironically git gud, preferably find a friend who will explain everything or annoy /poeg/ or reddit (same thing) with stupid questions.
why are there two games in the same genre with exactly the same acronym? How am I supposed to know whether someone is referring to Pillars of Eternity?
Well, you announced a sequel, then announced it wasn't actually a sequel, it was just another update, in line iwth the updates you've been making for the past decade. Why should I?
Why should I come back? That's the question.
Nothing changes. The league mechanics are usually only a week-ish of content, I'm done bothering.
The other events are. The ruthless one is just pushing ruthless, with a twist. Seems like it might be amusing if you have a lot of time to grind.
Pretty dumb to run party-only events though. Pretty dumb to try to run any kind of competitive event anymore really. There's only a handful of people who actually try.
Can someone explain why the current league had such a good player retention? I've been playing the game on and off since open beta and felt like the league and the state of the game are pretty poor right now but maybe I'm just burned out.
Yes, the last league had the highest retention in a long time because they went back on most of the archnemesis shit that made the game terrible.
D4 is going to be trash but that doesn't make PoE any better. If this league doesn't have a multi-page skill gem and ascendency balance section I'm not going to bother playing. It's been basically the same meta for a year now. >This was a successful league that had the highest retention in the last 3 years.
Because people were happy to finally be able to play PoE again after a year of Archnem completely ruining the game.
people that religiously every PoE league are mentally ill
you are playing the exact same game for the 203rd time with small changes
the time you spend on that league could've been divided equally between enumerate other worthy games; new experiences
like what the frick are you doing
>spent more time having fun in delve this season
ive literally never been past the second floor of sanctum, where the frick is the new league that isnt dogshit for my nova build homie???
Uhhhh cleave? Yeah you can build it, just needs 1000000 freaker orbs or you can farm it yourself in grigisdigris mode which you unlock post acts in the centeniel islands area which really you should be unlocking within the first 5 hours of league start. Of course this is all assuming you are grinding from league start, otherwise it'll take you 100000000000000000 reject orbs of gigillion which you will want to start off with a starter build with the RA/TA/MA build with the MSTVRJ of harmony which can be farmed from the post-kalima zone if you make sure to have hillock, severus and beavis in the proper slots (dont put in meagley he sucks dicks) and to have the proper links on your tree to connect to the super-post-tree areas on the outskirts of the diaphragm of the skill tree ascendancy path of negrios. I dont get why anyone thinks this game is hard, its a fricking cakewalk really in comparison to morono mode that they unleashed two leagues ago
The game should be rebuilt and balanced around an enjoyable SSFHC mode. No more one shots, moronic rare monster mods or 0,000000000001% droprates and crafting should be powerful without trade.
I don't even play SSFHC but the game should still be balanced around it and not SC trade. Too bad they dropped the charade of a hardcore game long ago.
The game was balanced around HC but since every HC player is a pussy homosexual with logout macro they had to make the game harder and harder until it wasn't viable to play HC anymore unless you're a streamer. As for SSF, Chris literally didn't want to make it so you'd log in into hideout, so you could see other players' MTX in town. And you want him to make it so you never interact with anyone?
Then combat logout macros somehow.
Not like I've ever used them, but the game should be balanced for every single game mode it provides, and obviously the most difficult to balance one to start with is going to be SSF HC.
Then combat logout macros somehow.
Not like I've ever used them, but the game should be balanced for every single game mode it provides, and obviously the most difficult to balance one to start with is going to be SSF HC.
need logout macros to deal with how unstable the game is
Agreed, but that will never ever happen when their core audience is sc zoomzooms who need to go fast and have as much convenience and speed as possible to rush endgame and rush maps and rush everything to play the game itself as little as possible on the way to the destination.
Reminds me of mmo bloat like wow had, I'm tired of the endgame experience and sc balancing.
having different loot tables for trade/ssf is actually a great idea
the fact that POE didn't come up with it yet shows just how fricking moronic chris is
no idea because to me standard only exist to test out builds
some items even incredibly common are fricking b***h to target farm, also it shouldn't effectively be impossible to find items like hh or mageblood on SSF
The game peaked with delve league.
I am not coming back until they roll back all the pointless nerfs and remove all the fricking bloat they added.
PoE devs are their own worst enemy.
I tried sanctum a few times on sc
it was stupid and my build was not for it
now my hc has a build that would rock sanctum and I have yet to try it again kek
>Play PoE beta, fun >Continue playing it for a while, joining every Hardcore league because it was the only way for me to have fun >homosexuals made the game a fricking marketplace simulator, third party programs to sell shit and buy shit >They start fricking up builds and the only way to play is with optimal shit >You are forced to eat shitty ass youtube videos to even know what the frick is happening with the game even if you're a veteran of the genre due to not being able to even TEST shit due to drop rates forcing you to use the shitty marketplace dominated by israelites >Shitty MMO in disguise that will force you to trade with players even if you don't want to just to have a shitty low tier character work but wait, you want to sell? You need pages, yes buy pages goyim only ten bucks goy you want to trade this thing that is useless right?
I just went back to Torchlight 2 modded with my group and we still play TL2 even today. Hell, there are still modders for that game updating their shit even now. Diablo 2 and TL2 are the most fun I've ever had in ARPGs, there has been nothing like it.
Nah
Please make PoE2.
Actually, I'm worried even PoE2 couldn't salvage it, but it's worth trying when they make it at least.
Remember the tried and true Chris method: double the amount of everything, but then nerf the options so that you effectively only have two or three viable choices.
>only have two or three
We can go lower.
This. PoE is a bloated corpse and needs a fresh start.
This. And the fact that they already decided that PoE2 is just going to replace the campaign and not the endgame means its DOA.
>just going to replace the campaign and not the endgame means its DOA.
I agree, the issue is I think PoE2 is built on the same foundation, I'm worried it won't be enough.
"PoE 2" is the new campaign, that you finish in 10-20 hours max, and then end game will be the same as it is now.
What about my post contradicted that?
Learn reading comprehension.
Black person you said
>I think

All the changes they're making (which [Everyone Disliked That].jpg) in PoE are the proposed changes that are coming to PoE2.
Bald moron killed the series so bad that they had to tell him to frick off and make his Gran Autismo "Hardcore" mode and try to staunch the bleeding by reversing his nerfs outside of that mode.
Doesn't bode well WHEN PoE2 releases.
PoE2 is just PoE4.0
It's not a new game, it's just a new campaign with a shared endgame.

i unironically enjoy diablo 3 seasons more than poe now
How the frick can any new players even start PoE?
There's a trillion league mechanics/mini-games at this point and absolutely no indication of which ones are worthwhile to do.
just don't be moronic?
You just pick one or two and go with that. But I wouldn't recommend starting the game at all. Or giving a shit when you start. It's an online casino coated as an arpg today. The game and fun was almost entirely deleted out of the game, wtih only nu-fans defending the bullshit today.
>How the frick can any new players even start PoE?
they can't, POE is just a whale milking simulator now
The 'complexity' is laid out by the wiki and youtube homosexuals doing tutorials on literally everything.
>Diablo 2
>Pre 1.10
>Put points in Skeletons/Elements/Auras
>Done
>Post-1.10/synergies
>Put points into Skeletons and Golems and other things that buff skeletons/put points in Elements, Auras and points into stuff that buff those. Done.
PoE1-2:
>DUDE! FINAL FANTASY X'S SPHERE GRID SYSTEM!
>DUDE! NO LOCKS! YOU CAN GO *ANYWHERE!*
>BUT YOU'LL FRICK OVER YOUR BUILD SO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THE SPHERE GRID LMAO
Because 90% of them aren't. And I can't tell you which ones are because they keep buffing and nerfing them randomly each league. Then again, with new atlas buffs, most of them are good enough, as long as you focus on it. Like, it's a difference between making some currency and literally printing currency. So since you're just starting out pick whatever looks fun to you and focus on it. If you get bored, switch into something else. All these mechanics were league mechanics over the years, people who played the leagues had time to experience them.
i think its worse for players that played a few years after the game was first released, i wanna play again but the game has changed a lot (for the worse) and im thinking i rather wait for PoE 2 than try to understand how the frick is PoE supposed to work now
Please just fricking scramble the meta holy shit playing melee and playing cold DoT Occultist feels like an entirely different game what the frick
They started to go back through the early game and retune enemy damage/hp and for one league or so act 1 was unironically the hardest part of the game, but since then I don't think they've done much, and new shit has made early game mostly irrelevant again anyway
>making combat rely more on mechanical skill
Fixed camera from above kills that idea entirely.
Lol, absolutely not. It just follows your character. What's the issue here?
make endless delve permanent and add new skills every league you cheap hack
>make endless delve permanent
This.
It doesn't feel good playing a game like this that clearly isn't planned out in any kind of organized fashion by the developers, and it's insulting to the players when they have to fix things but don't even bother to announce it because they know they screwed up and want to keep it quiet.
i literally dropped this league because i tried doing sanctums as soon as they were presented (and with no movement skills) and couldn't figure out if I was fricking up that bad or if they actually expected me to intentionally skip them until much later.
meant to reply to
>Now the game literally doesn't drop shit.
That's incorrect. I picked the game back last week after a brief hiatus and it dropped a few Divines and Exalts on alch-and-go maps.
Cool. You need like 200 divines to make any good build though
And each divine is 275c, so it will take forever to upgrade your build unless you:
1) get lucky with multiple divine drop
2) get lucky with divine altars
3) autistically farm the same content for 12 hours a day for a week
4) craft gear to sell (which requires investment)
>You need like 200 divines
40 actually, learn to craft
Shit man, totally forgot about tht, brb gonna craft my hh/mageblood and double corrupted skin of the loyal
>hh/mageblood
meme gear
pathfinder work wonders
Can bathfinder cap res with flasks at least? That's what I thought. Anyway, let me craft this explosion bow real quick, surely that will be way cheaper
Nobody crafts that now, you can use the new meme flask.
That would be -falsk slot and 30 div + tip
Why would you need flasks to cap your res? Sure it's nice to do with Mageblood, but I could easily cap them even on my Manabond Mjolner Hierophant (who runs almost all uniques).
It is the least you can do with mageblood
If your standard for "any good build" involves peak chase uniques and a beneficial double corrupt then you have brain worms.
More dev effort has gone into Ruthless the past 3 leagues than in the main game.
>regular players, and minmaxers play your game
>get pissy that minmaxers are minmaxing
>make it much harder to get good loot by making it so gear rolls are far shittier on average
>minmaxers end up minmaxing anyways even though it takes them longer
>regular users now have to minmax to even play the game since its balanced around this
the philosophy of balance for this game is complete garbage and needs to be totally rethought for poe2.
Yeah I played Vaal Flicker strike... It somewhat sucked in Sanctum but it was fun elsewhere
NO!
>the crafting is dogshit, if you get that chase item you're only about 1/100th of the way there, since now you need to craft it 1000 times so it does what you want
>doing the same fricking 4 hour campaign every league
>skill tree is pathetically obtuse, sure you can pick whatever skill you want but it'll be absolutely rubbish because normal people don't read the 6 hour long manifestos for each patch and know what the changes to good spells are
>group players progress 4x faster than solo players
>only 1 activity to do endgame (maps) for majority of the time, 1% of other time is bosses/delve/other shit
Only certain maps were actually difficult too, things with cheesy shit like reflect.
Wouldn't it be wild if Diablo IV was actually good.
I expect it to be 6/10 at launch and either get drastically better or worse after some patching
If you actually have hope for Diablo 4 you haven't been keeping up with the updates.
>armor stat also gives defense towards magic/elemental ultimately making it just a generic and shallow defense stat
>gearing is just shallow green up arrow vs red down arrow shit, completely oversimplified dogshit
>annoying harvest from open world mechanics before dungeoning similar to doing dailies as if it's a mobile game
You are kidding yourselves.
I'm going to play D4 because I'm a stockholm syndrome cuck but like says everything about it seems like trash. I wish I just went into it blind instead of following the development of it.
Five years ago I would have laughed at you. Look at where we are now.
>Diablo 4 is going to be so good! They definitely learned what was wrong with D3 and are moving forward. Just look at this screensh...
What's the issue here?
>attack power and armor (armor is just a rebranded generic cover-all defense stat)
>shitty goyslop UI
>standardized item sizes removes souls and any decision making around managing your inventory
>shitty generic israeliteel system just like in D3
>Everything completely streamlined for consoles
That being said, the fact you even asked that probably makes me think it's your kind of zoomer game. Enjoy.
I've played poe for ten years an see no issue here. The combined defence stat might even make it easier to balance the game, and therefore make melee combat viable. Sounds more like a case that you have GGG's dick in your ass and draw self worth from grinding temporary pixels in the supposed dark souls of arpgs.
Both games are shit, blizzard shill.
Can anyone remind me why PoE was good few years ago ?
Fun to make builds, fun to push endgame, fun to farm. High skill ceiling if you want to push ladder. Still enjoyable in hardcore. Honestly lots of that stuff is still true, but the game has definitely weakened over the years.
qrd on this bald guy
his game sucks
the idiot game lead who nerfed loot drops in PoE by like 80%
They've gone back on the completely nerfed drops for a league now m8. Drops feel fine.
Only after telling Bald moron to put his nerfs into a minority mode that 95% of the players won't ever play.
It's baffling they allowed him to nerf shit as long as they did.
Diablo 1 was the only good Diablo game
>Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction was the only good Diablo game
FTFY.
Games which force you to grind more than a total of 1-3 hours until you get to the "fun parts" should be made illegal.
There should be games that exist for people who want to go hard on them for 16 hours a day without trying to cater to broader more casual audiences. Frick off frogposting moron..
cope more dopamine-burned out homosexual
The whole game is the good part if you're playing it for the first time. The challenge with this game type is keeping people entertained on their 100th new character (and POE fails at it pretty hard imo)
>Games which force you to grind more than a total of 1-3 hours until you get to the "fun parts"
that IS the fun part. grinding so you can see your build continually obliterate large hordes of enemies with insane modifiers
Speaking of shitty arpgs, anyone keeping up with last epoch? Last time i tried it, it was an unoptimized mess that somehow looked even worse than grim dawn
I played it for 7 hours and uninstalled. It's the exact type of addictive yet braindead gameplay I hate.
It's filler, unironically.
Pretty sure they are saving a big one for Exilecon, the league after.
3.21 is filler, big one got moved to 3.22
>bounced back with Sanctum league
Bounced back with 3.20 patch, the league was beyond shit.
People who have different opinions on ARPGs make me incredibly angry.
you mean Orblikes?
Maybe you should come up with better events chris
yeah i'm not fricking with that sphere grid
if you want characters to have builds, then fine
but don't make leveling an austic mini-game
It's not as complicated as it looks. You go towards health to have enough while leveling and get damage as needed, the end. Follow a build game if you want. I'm not even saying you'll like the game, but that's such a dumb low IQ reason to not give it a chance.
Reminder that 80% of the morons that come into poe threads on Ganker to shit on the game are dumb morons from /poeg/ on /vg/ that actually hate the game but yet still spend hours every day trying to trash on it in their general. Nobody gives a shit about your mindbroken opinions.
Man, if an entire general is shitting on the game. Maybe except for a few, but the game is definitely shit then.
It has 10 acts and an extensive post-campaign, what more can they do to "make an actual game"?
i cant, im playing d2r
the real problem is the leagues are too short + reset the game / progress every time. literally double the league time so I can actually complete the fricking game while enjoying the new content / gameplay style without a farmed economy of the perm mode maybe.
>literally double the league time so I can actually complete the fricking game while enjoying the new content
A month in, the league economy is already dead. They made this league longer and it's been dead for like a month by now. Unironically git gud, preferably find a friend who will explain everything or annoy /poeg/ or reddit (same thing) with stupid questions.
BALD
>please play our hamster on wheel simulator
no and frick you
why are there two games in the same genre with exactly the same acronym? How am I supposed to know whether someone is referring to Pillars of Eternity?
Well, you announced a sequel, then announced it wasn't actually a sequel, it was just another update, in line iwth the updates you've been making for the past decade. Why should I?
Why should I come back? That's the question.
Nothing changes. The league mechanics are usually only a week-ish of content, I'm done bothering.
do talismans still drop but can't be upgraded?
You can anoint them nowadays
New league isn't for quite a long time. And good luck selling the Ruthless Gold event to new players.
It's made for streamers, like the rest of the game today.
I've been playing the game on and off since open beta and felt like the league and the state of the game are pretty poor right now but maybe I'm just burned out.
see
people that religiously every PoE league are mentally ill
you are playing the exact same game for the 203rd time with small changes
the time you spend on that league could've been divided equally between enumerate other worthy games; new experiences
like what the frick are you doing
>spent more time having fun in delve this season
ive literally never been past the second floor of sanctum, where the frick is the new league that isnt dogshit for my nova build homie???
by the sanctum
AHAHAHAHA
>SSFHC
Opinion disregarded.
Not like I've ever used them, but the game should be balanced for every single game mode it provides, and obviously the most difficult to balance one to start with is going to be SSF HC.
need logout macros to deal with how unstable the game is
Agreed, but that will never ever happen when their core audience is sc zoomzooms who need to go fast and have as much convenience and speed as possible to rush endgame and rush maps and rush everything to play the game itself as little as possible on the way to the destination.
Reminds me of mmo bloat like wow had, I'm tired of the endgame experience and sc balancing.
last epoch won
having different loot tables for trade/ssf is actually a great idea
the fact that POE didn't come up with it yet shows just how fricking moronic chris is
isnt there a different loot table for the league and the regular standard? it seems like it would be too much to split it up even more
Nope.
Only difference between standard and league is whatever new league-exclusive drops they add.
no idea because to me standard only exist to test out builds
some items even incredibly common are fricking b***h to target farm, also it shouldn't effectively be impossible to find items like hh or mageblood on SSF
The game peaked with delve league.
I am not coming back until they roll back all the pointless nerfs and remove all the fricking bloat they added.
PoE devs are their own worst enemy.
The new leagues aren't even added to the core game anymore lmao, it's all FOMO now.
They never should have been unconditionally added to the game, that's half the reason we have so much bloat as it is.
I hope next league they continue IMPROVEMENT of the game, not another roll of nerfs, bc early april looks dead af

>Play PoE beta, fun
>Continue playing it for a while, joining every Hardcore league because it was the only way for me to have fun
>homosexuals made the game a fricking marketplace simulator, third party programs to sell shit and buy shit
>They start fricking up builds and the only way to play is with optimal shit
>You are forced to eat shitty ass youtube videos to even know what the frick is happening with the game even if you're a veteran of the genre due to not being able to even TEST shit due to drop rates forcing you to use the shitty marketplace dominated by israelites
>Shitty MMO in disguise that will force you to trade with players even if you don't want to just to have a shitty low tier character work but wait, you want to sell? You need pages, yes buy pages goyim only ten bucks goy you want to trade this thing that is useless right?
I just went back to Torchlight 2 modded with my group and we still play TL2 even today. Hell, there are still modders for that game updating their shit even now. Diablo 2 and TL2 are the most fun I've ever had in ARPGs, there has been nothing like it.
BL2 & 3 got me into ARPGs and its crazy to switch from a series where legendary unique loot is basically the best, to POE where uniques are 99% trash
Never, ever again.
The only game I've ever played that actually felt like a job.
