another source of easy money is crafting low level items required for the grand company daily requests, usually 60-70k a piece and cheap as frick to make with low level materials, while leveling I would make one for me and 2-3 items to sell

from personal experience the items that sell the least are culinarian and alchemists, which is understandable because people buy gear for glam too but food and potions are only useful for the grand company shit

I like Y'shtola but tbqh she did need a few scenes where she was the butt of the joke. Too much sassing other characters while never taking any in return ends up making you look too high and mighty, and YoshiP agreed since he didn't want her to immediately show up in 6.1 by dropping a snarky remark and instead wanted something "kinder".

Even during the patch, I thought that the book bit was a one off because blaming Y'shtola for trying to inspect the giant cauldron had that "uh oh you made cat mom mad!" scene right after but looking at her involvement as a whole in 6.1 I see it as a positive.

I'd recommend clearing the cave before it is too late. They are quests without questmarker, so you gotta read the texts and puzzle it together yourself.

I started out in the last year built my entire character around pugilist/monk and didn't start exploring other jobs until some time after stormblood.
I recently picked up RPR and find that to be some next level chuuni nonsense and I absolutely love playing it, but monk will forever be my character's main role. All I want now is to be able to suplex things.

Yes, I've actually finished the entire MSQ and done a few extreme trials. The story was ok, but most of it wasn't a video game at all, let alone a fun one. Extreme trials are fun for the 1-2 hours it takes to clear it, but there's no reason to repeat them beyond cosmetic collectible garbage because it's exactly the same every time.
It doesn't seem like it keeps getting better. My job (SMN) right now is twice as boring as it was to play a year ago.

You'll get some hot takes that the game's actually gotten worse since Heavensward and we must RETVRN, but personally I think Heavensward was a really low point for any job that wasn't Dark Knight (and even then I don't want to RETVRN to proc-by-parry) and slathering job design in layers upon layers of timers like I'm muthafrickin Time Wizard is a really bad way to ensure you pay attention. It's an Excel spreadsheet with graphics at that point, miss me with that.

Not really, the vast majority of the story is told within movies and text box exposition across all expansions.
There's nothing mediocre about developing the same fantasy world for over a decade with the integrity that FFXIV has. New stuff always builds on old, and mysteries from years ago are constantly getting explained. Everything isn't equal in quality, but there's no other video game with the same mentality

I don't think the worldbuilding is all that great, to be honest. It does an alright job of expositing an interesting fantasy world through dialogue boxes, but it doesn't ever let you interact with that world in an engaging way, which is what *interactive* media like video games should capitalize on. It's the strength of the medium.
I think we just have different tastes.
But I think the comparison to other Final Fantasies is a good example of what's impressive about XIV's story. Imagine if any of the games could keep on going after the final boss, multiple times over, and that way get a chance to explore the undeveloped plot lines that exist in pretty much all games of the series
I try WoW at least for a month every expansion. It's fun at first, but I always end up despising the gameplay during that time. I complete the first raid on Heroic and don't feel the need to come back for the rest.

The moral quandry when it comes to sexualizing children has always been the idea that their minds are underdeveloped and thus performing sexual scts with them constitutes abuse and victimization, which is entirely valid. When it comes to a small fantasy race however this is no longer the case, the characters depicted are entirely adults and possess the mental capacity to fully understand and consent to sexual acts. Hell, the game itself portrays Lalafells as a bunch of horny bastards in a lot of cases. So sure, you can kot be into it on a personal level if you want and that's fine but to try and do some kindnof moral grandstanding over it is moronic, you don't have a leg to stand on beyond the fact that their bodies are small.
So I'm a new-ish player. Not really by time-played, but by game-experienced. I play with my wife and an old friend of hers (and that friend's husband) and the 4 of us go through the game very slowly. All the MSQ dungeons together but only like, once every other week. So we're just at the end of Stormblood.
I've begun getting into other side systems and decided to give Gardening a try, and I just do not understand this system.
Basic seeds cost 5-10k on my server, so setting up a whole Deluxe Plot, buying soil and seeds, costs something like 80-100k? The resulting cross-breed seeds go for ~30k each on the market board..... but the kicker is that the crossbreed rate seems to be under 5% with Grade 3 Thanalan Soil. I've done two whole cycles (mirror apple + old world fig) and have gotten 0 cross breeds (which I read are supposed to be Kuruku seeds or something?)
If crossbreed rate with the highest tier soil is still <5%, then this isn't really a money-making system because you're burning tons of low-level materials to get a small number of the next tier up. But trying to ignore the system and just by the end result (like the Thavnalian Onions or whatever) for 100k+ is tremendously expensive (for me).
Is gardening just "A system you can only engage with if you already have hundreds of millions of gil" because that's what it feels like. Which is pretty at odds with the comfy-nature of what gardening usually is. Disappointed with how fricked this system seems to be. Investment to payoff ratio seems to just destroy any reason to ever do it.
Can't you gather the basic seeds/soil and just cross breed from there? I remember doing that back in ARR and it didn't break my bank. I think the big payoff of gardening are veggies to colour your company chocobo?
The issue is the time investment. You could be making more money doing other shit.
Gardening is passive income. It takes 1-2 minutes of time knvestment per day. The time it spends growing isn't wasted time because you're free to do whatever in between.
Its takes way longer than 1~2 minutes if you gather that shit yourself.

Since crossbreed rates are cosmically low, you are, over time, MUCH better off selling the botany acquired seeds straight up than trying to gun for the extremely rare cross breeds. You'll burn what could have been hundreds of thousands of gil on botany famers seeds before you successfully get any cross breed seeds. unless you're insanely lucky. It's just not a viable long term money making scheme. No matter how passive, it just loses you money. It's a pointless system

So like, that still just lands on "ignore gardening, farm gil in the vast number of more efficient ways, and buy what you need of the MB". So the gardening system itself is still worthless garbage? Like to make a thavnarnian onion "worth it" time investment wise, they'd need to go for 2mil+ each

Krasis buffs and haima Physis buffs Haima.
Yeah but does it buff everything from the moment you press it or will you lose the krasis buff for the remaining shields/heal when it runs out. Excog saves the heal boost from protraction right up until it resolves, but haima is a bit different.
