dude gave up on it years ago since his mother died. if you really wanna play it your only chance is giving pd2 a chance. spoiler: its getting worse with each patch
Damn, really? That sucks to hear. >PD2
I don't understand how they got away with copying everything PoD did and re-releasing it but not playing that shit
Titan Quest is okay though. I also like it's vibrant aesthetics vs all other Diablo-likes being grimdark edgy and the few others being cartoony/kiddy instead (Fate and Torchlight series). Very comfy slaughtering monsters along the beach on a beautiful sunny day.
Titan's quest was really the inbetween for Diablo and Diablo 2. If diablo 2 hadn't come out it would have had a better reception. The simple fact that it did come out first really makes TQ feel like a late installment from the first game.
That being said Torchlight 1 is also in this boat, but Torchlight 2 was a massive disappointment and much like Diablo 3 Torchlight 3 does not exist for the exact same reasons.
That being said Grim Dawn beats all of them. Grim Dawn is the spiritual successor of the Diablo franchise.
And Path of Exile is just a Free To Grind bore fest. It is very much the same as Rift was to MMOs. Not very good unless you couldn't afford video games and that's all you had.
And because it's relevant the Fate Series was the spiritual successor to Diablo prior to Grim Dawn's Release. It was a better version of Torchlight even after torchlight was released.
Really? How is D2 more replayable? It really isn't compared to TQ or GD, which have way more classes. Build variety? Most of the D2 builds suck and there are really only like 4 that are viable. Random map? Most of the world is empty as frick, like skyrim level empty besides random mob hordes. TQ and GD may have non random maps but that actually makes them more replayable since you know what to skip and how to move through them most efficiently. D2 is completely obsoleted as a game, most people still pushing it are only fueled by nostalgia and "DUUUDE MEMBER THE GEM NOISE! *DING* WOOOAHH"
Anyone who thinks D2 is even remotely replayable is a boomer whose only memory of the game is picking necro and finishing normal difficulty with 15 skeletons
D2 is the most build limiting game in the genre
Which is sad, because there's a bunch of cool-yet non-viable builds. I remember Median XL opening up some different paths, although it comes with it's own jank.
Median is too much of a revamp, I love the mod but it shouldn't be compared with d2 at all. Still, the lengths they managed to take d2 engine is impressive
TQ/GD environments are vast stretches of nothingness. It's mind-numbing in a way that D2 never is. I enjoyed TQ but I wouldn't look forward to replaying it. GD I couldn't finish my first playthrough, I got near the very end and it was just too boring.
>mind-numbing in a way D2 never is
Are you moronic? The only way D2's map engages you is by making you look for all the RNG locations. It's a flat fricking jpeg otherwise. TQ/GD environments have destructible elements + secret paths + 3d elements that allow things like ranged classes taking advantage of higher ground to fire down on enemies. Take off the nostalgia goggles.
Atmosphere dude, Diablo 2 is amazing in that regard.
It's a coherent design but in the modern day it's not really that amazing. Just because it did it first doesn't mean it did it the best.
Yes I agree that somehow Diablo 1 had even better atmosphere, but I think that was largely because of how condensed it was, it was just 1 town and 1 location to fight in.
Mat Uelman, the music dude, is a genius. Imagine that he was only 23 when he composed that music, it sounds like pure pitch darkness and evil.
>would rather b***h about a game they don't even play
I played in closed beta and paid actual money for tabs and cosmetic microtransactions. The game has gradually become shittier over the years, coincidentally when Tencent bought majority shares in GGG.
Diablo II is tied with Chrono Trigger for my favorite game of all time, both plagued by awful sequels that shit all over them as well as terrible remasters curiously enough.
>play a private Diablo II server >suddenly they tighten up against piracy, losing a good fraction of their population >they get left out with no support in Diablo II Resurrected
I actually own Diablo 2 legally but I can't figure out how to install it. Tried it a year ago to try some mods and the Installer actually doesn't work. I am also if they did the shitty Warcraft 3 thing where they removed the old version if you didn't have it. >No mod support
I knew it. Pay2Win mtx coming eventually as well.
Of course it fricking won. Do you have any idea how much thought put into diablo's loot system? The team who put that game together were way ahead of the curve. They basically designed it like a gambling game and coated it with good graphical design and ambience. No woke shit, nothing unnecessary, simple story with good immersive cinematics that stay on point. PoE was good before they added all this excessive shit that over complicates what's supposed to be a simple arpg. With that simplicity gone, 100% need for extra inventory, character creation limit, nerfs to fun builds, no way anyone will remain happy with poe.
>fat c**t lectures about burn loot murder on video game company related account >video game company backs her up >stop playing the the company's video game

Wake me up when new PoD season comes up because I'm not doing any more fricking Meph runs on HD graphics

this "genre" is for mentally ill people. It should have ended at d2 with no other games desperately trying to recapture that experience.
Titan Quest is okay though. I also like it's vibrant aesthetics vs all other Diablo-likes being grimdark edgy and the few others being cartoony/kiddy instead (Fate and Torchlight series). Very comfy slaughtering monsters along the beach on a beautiful sunny day.
why would you do meph runs when you can do chaos sanc/throne room lmao
been waiting for pod for over a year now
I NEED TO PLAY
played ptr a bunch a few times but I NEED A NEW LADDER
>actually thinking that D4 won't be a massive success
Boomer brain rot is real
titan quest OG mogs u

So in terms of ranking lists
Grim Dawn > Fate > Torchlight 1 > Diablo 2 > Titan's Quest > PoE > Diablo 3 = Torchlight 3
Diablo 2 is pretty dated by modern standards, there are much better games available like Titan Quest or Grim Dawn
Neither have the replay value of D2.

both those games play like shitty d2 knockoffs
Not an argument Blizztroony, how about you address my points or frick off back to your animated-jpeg skinner box to farm more ROONs
Anyone who thinks D2 is even remotely replayable is a boomer whose only memory of the game is picking necro and finishing normal difficulty with 15 skeletons

The 1st Diabo was more of the atmosphere game, but yeah it was great in II as well.

I'm hopeful for D4 and PoE2
>PoE is dying
Outrage culture would rather b***h about a game they don't even play, meanwhile people are getting loot explosions like this.
>paid cursor
that's one of the free ones, moron
TROLLED HARD!

I played in closed beta and paid actual money for tabs and cosmetic microtransactions. The game has gradually become shittier over the years, coincidentally when Tencent bought majority shares in GGG.
>brought to you by GIDF
That image makes me not want to play the game.
more like D2 never lost
it was curiously the only one to show to the races
all the competitors mysteriously died
Diablo II is tied with Chrono Trigger for my favorite game of all time, both plagued by awful sequels that shit all over them as well as terrible remasters curiously enough.
>>PoE is dying
Good fricking riddance, live service pay to win trash should be banned from production.
>D2 won. Diablo II fricking WON.
Do you even know why? Because it's 2D, all the other games are soulless full 3D.
>play a private Diablo II server
>suddenly they tighten up against piracy, losing a good fraction of their population
>they get left out with no support in Diablo II Resurrected
>d2 is all 3rd worlders who can't afford the gamd
This explains so much
>giving money to Blizzard

lol it's funny because diablo II beats nu diablo II as well.
I would've got the remake but not when they turned the zon into a troony.

GOAT
>Diablo II fricking WON.
No, Diablo II is on Battle.net.
You're thinking of the old Sierra Online service.
