DWM isn't a pokemon clone it's the other way arround. I still think the orginal DWM is one of the best monster tamers. The only other one I really play is FFX 13-2. Your third party slot is a monster and there are like 60 total. Not really a mon game but that's all I got.
DWM1 was released 2 years after Pokemon Red/Green. It's a Pokemon clone like many others that came out around the same time. I'm sick of you contrarians pushing this narrative that Pokemon did nothing original and just stole from DQ and SMT. Rid yourself from this planet at once.

Those are the go-to franchises people bring up whenever Pokegays say another thing is a clone of Pokemon (YW, Digimon, etc), usually just to point out that Pokemon didn't do monster recruitment first, not necessarily that it directly stole from those franchises.
wizardry 4 probably did monster recruitment first, at the very least it did it years before megami tensei 1 did, but of course pseuds don't know that
The thing is Dragon Quest and SMT have completely different gamelay and aesthetics than Pokémon, meanwhile YW and Digimon are just there to be Pokeclones for easy money

DQM is not a pokeclone. DQM is based on mechanics from DQ5, which predates pokemon by several years.
Pokemon's concept was made years before DQshart5 existed, dumb fricking zoomoids.

I never got the hype for DQM. I've played many JRPGs, and quite a few with "Monster Catching" mechanics, and none of the DQM games are more than 6/10s.
