>ROMs of first 5 games seamlessly connected in 1
You play it as if it were offline until the thrill of rare catch economy keeps you hooked
anyone else stand in storyline caves and challenge others to a duel?
also daily rematching all gym leader double battles and then cynthia 1v1
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
CRIME Shirt $21.68 |
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
>duel
Are they still allowing people to use potions during PvP battles? If yes I'm not interested.
That hasn't been a thing in almost a decade. In fact I forgot that was a thing. Regardless the devs making money farming worse every patch and grinding to sell shit on the market is impossible because chinks lol makes it a miserable experience
>hasn't been a thing in almost a decade
Yeah well excuuuuuse me for being a boomer, anon.
Too bad the devs are israelites, however. Is Pokémon Revolution any better? I tried it for a bit but it felt soulless.
Anon if I knew that was a thing that makes me a boomer too. And pokemmo as shitty as it is is the best of the aweful shitpile that is pokemon MMOs.
PRO was the worst one for me
Pokeone is fun with friends, and for the extra questlines
Pokemon planet, and Pokemon blaze i haven't tried
duels start a battle with your party or a preset team from your box at full health and no items allowed
>You play it as if it were offline until the thrill of rare catch economy keeps you hooked
homosexual devs ruining the economy every patch is what made me drop the game
>also daily rematching all gym leader double battles and then cynthia 1v1
By far the coolest thing about the game
It lets me play HGSS with gen 5 pokemon, so it seems alright.
You will have to grind for 10 years to get a pvp viable team. Better off not playing any pokemon mmo because they're all like this.
You can breed a 2x31 in 5 minutes
>sub optimal defense and HP
Yeah real cool bro lmao
Literal skill issue
took me about 2 weeks before i'd finished any regions and without access to all the best moneymaking methods. but if you want to be spoonfed every experience in your life, s/v just got that new dlc or whatever. might as well get both games while you're at it piggy
>pvp viable
Play on Showdown
>MMO
You lost me there
I'd happily play Gens 1-5 with following Mon but I don't like MMOs, MMO game design or other human beings beyond my friends and family so seeing other people inhabiting my space and breathing my oxygen will make me annoyed and I'd imagine there's no offline mode as that would be antithetical to the game's whole premise.
I'd rather just play the roms, especially if there's changes that make shit more MMO grindy, frick that when I can play the original sped up on Desmume/VBA
Drayano hacks and related/inspired works are the definitive Pokemon experience. Get out of here with this always online Chinese RMT bullshit.
drayano is a gooning bbc cuckold
i started playing this the other week with my gf. the difficulty changes are nice.
can you access HGSS' version of Kanto?
Theres no hgss kanto. Mt silver is only available after you complete the pokedex also
>PokeMMO is the defini--
yeah no its not, frick off with your shillhomosexualry. this game is too grindy for its own good and there's a reason why most of these threads are met with this exact same criticism by like 30 different people every single time
>won a cease and desist lawsuit against game freak
how did they do it?
They don't host anything copy written. It is honestly pretty brilliant
the mods will bat an eye at server chat calling each other Black folk, but the SECOND someone mentions rom distribution they shut it down. they're good at what they do
why would you bother talking about ROM distribution in server chat in the first place. You already got into the game. You got the ROM. You won.
You vastly over estimate yow dumb the average user is
Got me there. It's been a while but I almost forgot how often morons would start speaking Spanish in the English channels. At least the Chinese bots actually keep to their lanes.
It was definitely the most fun I've had with anything Mainline Pokemon related since BW
I can't play pokemon without a speed up button
Pokemon just doesn't work as an MMO. Maybe something like Legends Arceus could, but nobody's going to make that.
how's the RP scene?
Nonexistent, ironically. Not once in my years of playing did I ever see people roleplaying or advertising a roleplay team.
>only perks are "uhhhm more battle uhhhh"
No thanks
did they add group content yet, or is the "mmo" part of the game still just pvp and trading?
They've been teasing raids/dungeons for ages, maybe with Johto finally out they can focus on it
It'll take a decade for anything to come out of it then.
If these are anything like the ones from events then they will get old really fast
I know PMU is a thing but it would be cool if they found a way to integrate PMD into the game
Tell me when you can turn off animations.
oh boy i love playing the exact same game but with extended grind to waste my fricking time and a global chat full of 13 year old mexicans
you cannot properly engage with MMO fans since playerbase is so important to the experience, they would rather eat shit than criticise their cargo cult
Really ironic considering how people on /vp/ act when you criticize their favorite region or Pokemon. This isn't an MMO problem, it's a nerds in fandom problem. People take criticism of things they like as a personal attack after investing so much time into them.
Call me when a Mystery Dungeon MMO is a real thing, I'll just go back to replaying Shiren the Wanderer games
The furry degeneracy that would run rampant in a Mystery Dungeon MMO would be a sight to behold.
Well, now I want one just to see the horrid screencaps you guys would manage to get
Pokemon Mystery Universe
Looks kinda shit
They should probably make it more closer to the original engine
It has been for years
I remember playing one of these a suuuuuper long time ago. The community was super small I think I barely remember seeing any players, it was probably in beta or something plus i think it must have been like 2010. Anyway the short time I spent on it showed me that mystery dungeon could totally work as an mmo style
There are three:
-Pokemon Mystery universe (most popular, has almost all pokemons available from gen 1 to gen 9, plenty of dungeons and areas to explore, usage of HMs to get further in the world, can build and expand your own house)
-Pokemon Mystery Universe: Shift (has some neat features over PMU, but barely played due to not being shilled and coders being busy with life)
-Pokemon Donjon Mystere (French only online multiplayer that has their own unique way to play but has way less stuff than PMU due to being relatively new)
I want autistic bros to rp a pokemon journey with on there... Treating each others as rivals while we play through the game, shooting the shit, ERP'ing
Okay but only if you wear a skirt and thigh-highs
Deal, but you'd probably keep losing to a girl
Yeah but I'd do it on purpose because it gives me a boner
Too bad i wouldnt let you do anything to me before you'd be able to beat me
Girl(male)
>Girl(male)
Ah that's okay then. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Everyone knows guys make better girls than women anon!
Only in fiction.
Good thing RP is fiction then!
Girl?
it'd be pretty comfy
yeah I thought there were some at some point, but they died for some reason or another.
>yeah I thought there were some at some point, but they died for some reason or another.
As one of the lead members the economy exploding after multiple patches killed every serious member
>economy exploding after multiple patches
yeah that sounds about right
>mmo
>no /vp/ guild yet
Honestly it'd be an actual reason to play at least. Would we have a uniform or a theme or just let people do whatever?
Black guys with afros
In Viridian you can buy a "Classic cap" for just $400. Make it Ganker green and that would be a good way to identify /vp/ers
Not available in Hoenn or Sinnoh though.
Why not just each region's cap then?
>Classic Cap for Kanto
>Stripy Cap or Backwards Stripy Cap for Johto
>Emerald Knit Cap for Hoenn
>Flat Cap for Sinnoh
>Two Tone Cap for Unova
Where would the designated meeting spot be then? The "hideout" I guess.
Four Island?
That's a good one. But it does mean Kanto is the place to start.
>green cap
This is a chink meme, green hat in chinese sounds just like their word for cuckold.
Why do you know so much about it then huh?
Bald or afro with wife beaters
Just started yesterday and I like that they changed pokemon distribution a bit. Trainers having decent moves was a good touch too.
Forogt pic
Ay yo tyrese I like what you're doing with the paras
We had a guild back in the day. I don't know if I could return to PokeMMO. I would need some serious motivation.
There was one. In fact we had 2 because we filled the first one so fast. It was fug and megafug
Okay, I'm down. Any particular region in mind?
is this game just the first five generations but with Battle Frontier difficulty story mode? because that's literally all i've ever wanted from this series
It's generally a lot more difficult and you can't rely on outleveling opponents too much. It only gets BF-tier or worse when you're finishing up the region. The Elite Four can be pretty fricking miserable.
are all regions as intense?
For story? Pretty much. Your first region will be the hardest, but once that's done, the rest are more manageable. Unova was the last region I did, after Kanto and Hoenn, and I still got kinda assblasted by the Elite Four. From what I hear, people tend to think Unova is the easiest and Hoenn is the hardest.
Postgame, they're all about the same. Hoenn doesn't have as many rematchable trainers, and I know Johto has a new boss encounter that some people find pretty fricking hard.
I honestly dunno what you mean unless they updated it in the last year or so. When I played every region had a go-to "easy mode" Pokemon like Krookodile that just cleaned the game even at-level.
Yeah as long as you're smart about it it's not too bad. TMs aren't infinite-use but you can buy all of them at the department stores, and Pokemon like Starmie and Krookodile are notorious for fricking up the stories
can someone please explain alpha pokemon to me
they just scale up the sprite. It was added alongside PLA because it was easy to implement.
They scale up the sprite, pitch the cry down, come with the species' hidden ability, and have at least 2 perfect IVs each I believe.
do i lose money for whiting out
Nope
If a battle is fricked, just log out and back in without resuming session. You'll whiteout and can just get back to where you were instead of waiting through your demise.
No MInecraft mods are because world is randomized and almost never ending.
What region should I start in?
Assuming you genuinely have no preference for any of them, I'd recommend Kanto. Story isn't too overbearing, plenty of good Pokemon you can pick up for other regions, you have access to all the gen 4 cross-gen evos too so you can run Electivire, Tangrowth, Porygon-Z if you want. And you can pick up two Leftovers from the Snorlaxes.
is there any possible way to know about swarms ahead of time?
This game would be a lot more tolerable if it had a game speed up option. It's suicide inducing otherwise.
this game was only good when it was just gen 3 mechanics/pokemon and the devs hadnt changed breeding to be grinding dogshit yet
after that it was total trash, full stop
Breeding is better than in the actual games
Bad joke
I'm sorry you can't churn out infinite 5x31 Pokemon after getting just one, but being able to pass down specific IVs is a godsend for getting to that point
I can hatch ONE egg and get what I want, instead of having to hatch dozens
>I can hatch ONE egg and get what I want, instead of having to hatch dozens
homosexual it takes 64 mons to breed a 6*31 IV mon if you are using single 31 IV stock. I raises mons and sold them all the time since it was a good way to make money for awhile. Shit was a pain in the dick
And? Just fricking buy them butthole
Yeah that'd actually be way better. One of the fun parts of the Gen 6+ online experience is just handing out perfectly raised Pokemon to randos, and an MMO should capitalize on that instead of pretending it's a bad thing for "muh economy".
>I'd rather just play the roms, especially if there's changes that make shit more MMO grindy, frick that when I can play the original sped up on Desmume/VBA
i played this a bunch years ago and then randomly on and off a couple more times since then but it wasnt until like april where I picked it back up intending to do water type only run through the entire game and I'm taking my time and vibing and having a fricking great time. most fun Ive had with pokemon in years
I'm doing a poison mono run right now. Started in Kanto last night.
Ok since people seem to actually be interested in playing, here's some mods that will enhance you experience:
>HD items
https://forums.pokemmo.com/index.php?/topic/56376-mod-hd-items/
>3DS Pokemon icons
https://forums.pokemmo.com/index.php?/topic/93475-mod-3ds-monster-icons/
>Gen 5 follower pokemon sprites
https://forums.pokemmo.com/index.php?/topic/100899-mod-generation-5-follower-sprites-v21b-updated-for-2023/
>GBA battle sprites to NDS ones
https://forums.pokemmo.com/index.php?/topic/75816-mod-ds-trainers/
Is there a mod to turn off animations?
Nope, they don't want you to be able to breeze through battles. If they did allow it the money, exp, and EV grind wouldn't be so insufferable
Okay but where's the mod to give all my pokemon sprites massive breasts
Fairy type when...?
Never (and that is a good thing)
i need suggestions on the held item for my chatot
lum berry stops toxic but maybe i should just use choice specs and spam confusion
im feeling the pressure of potentially overleveling way too much. it sucks that they dont just disable leveling until another badge is gained rather than have the risk of falling over the cliff
> it sucks that they dont just disable leveling until another badge is gained
But they do? If you try leveling up above the cap the excess experience gained by the Pokémon is stored until it can level up again
Are there any bots for this game that won't get your account banned? i'm not spending hours grinding gyms everyday just so i can grind for a usable pvp team
Look up gym reroute guides on the forums
Making 200k-300k in 2 or so hours everyday with gym reruns is really not that bad at all
Dude most people have better things to do with that two hours, i only have a couple of hours to play a day so that would literally be the only thing i do everyday
That's like 10 hours for a cool hat off the market...
Yikes. This post right here is enough to keep me away from the game.
I play challenging rom hacks in emulator with a 4x speed up button, grinding for basic shit in base speed so I can keep up with Chinese bots in an "economy" is the last thing I wanna do. Sorry, just being honest.
You have ADHD
Brother I'm 32 fricking years old. These games are too slow to spend 50 real world hours on a single playthrough.
Then again I haven't played an MMO in ages for the same reason so wtf did I expect
You will have to spend a few hundred hours if you want to be able to enjoy everything
looking up guides saps all the fun out of it. ruins the game
So did they ever add a way to change your hairstyle? I remember that being a minor peev of mine when I played last time.
You can buy a makeover kit on the GTL but it's expensive
Of course. Can't pass up the ability to make an easy buck and keep muh economy "healthy"
it's ingame money, what are you on about
Is it not a shop item? I assumed it was if players put it on the GTL for in-game money. Otherwise it's a limited run item which is also scummy.
it's like bonds from Runescape, an item that can be bought with real money but sold in the player market for game money
Yeah. So they did it to make money. The only way it gets in the market in the first place is if someone paid real money at some point in the transaction. This isn't rocket science.
Exactly
Were do you think those items come from moron
It's also 3 days of grinding. lol
To anyone considering PokéMMO: don't. Unless you literally have NOTHING else better to do, somehow. But even then, I'd encourage finding anything else. It's such a waste of time at every corner.
>waste of time
so is literally anything you do while huffing fumes on this shithole planet. The modern main games are complete cancer. The old games are solid, but multiplayer is not active on Nintendo’s abandoned WiFi. I’m interested in trading and battling while I replay some old games from my misspent youth. What else do you recommend? Showdown exists, but there’s no sense of adventure in a battle simulator. No progression or surprise or multiplayer besides going gg to some poor bastard halfway around the world.
Anyways, I just got my first badge in Sinnoh. Not sure if I should keep playing. Despite seeing players running around the over world, it’s been a lonely experience. Is there anywhere I can link up with casual players, or should I just go back to romhacks and sucking dick for Pokécoins?
The notable difference is the PokeMMO devs seem dead-set on wasting your time more than the main games lately.
Forgive my ignorance, but isn’t grinding the point of MMOs? Every MMO I’ve ever tried had people complaining about (and some defending) the insane time sink.
No, the point of MMO's is to play a game with other players online. Grind is an archaic type of progression started to keep people playing longer and thus make them either be more invested or spend more money (possibly both). But most good MMO's have cut down the grind to a reasonable level so you can at least learn your level-up skills at a decent clip and enjoy their main campaign. PokeMMO meanwhile keeps to the old style when they have enough content that even if it had the progress and QoL of a main game it'd still take near a week to be remotely near finished.
Grinding to earn something in a game is one thing, but what PokeMMO does is outright torture.
I don't mind grinding if it's done right. There's no reason someone shouldn't be able to grind for what they want unlimited for a day. But games like PokéMMO are complete gutter trash in that they cap your daily grinding to make you come back the next day. How about frick that? I prefer games that let me take things at my own pace.
All the co-op content comes during events, it is pretty much a single player experience otherwise
The most you can do is join a guild and chat with them i guess
Yeah I will say the most fun I've had playing it is alongside a friend through the regions, but if you want a little bit more interaction while playing alone you can use the chats and see if anyone wants to battle as you go along. Just specify you're a new player and want some friends and people seem generally pretty nice. (As long as global chat isnt moving super fast)
Possibly also consider joining a team if they like new players.
I randomly befriended someone who was hunting the same shiny and another time when I was trying to get the feebas tiles, a bunch of people int he channel got together and looked together and we all were chatting a lot it was fun. Then another time someone was asking if ayone wanted to join their shiny charm and a few of us were hanging out and talking while hunting.
For me the first couple times I played alone, it's more like replaying a ROM with some added features so if that's something that appeals to you (i replay the old games all the time), then you can have a good time with that.
You can freely queue for random team pvp anytime anywhere. Queue time is max 2 minutes. I did this for a while to get inspired on what's a good combo (like flame orb raticate)
As janky as 2013 mmo was, it was also a lot more fun, they need to focus on making the game more accessible to newcomers because there isn't enough content to keep the whales there forever
ok, Kalos when???
Probably never. They'd have to actually make the region from scratch or redo all existing regions to fit Kalos.
>definitive
not until theres a plugin i can use to one click export .pkm files to use in my real games
if i cant use pokemmo as a tool to further increase my existing pokemon collection then its just a colossal waste of time
Interesting, I used to play the games like this and did it for years, building up a collection across all games. But once I got into rom hacks it got too messy since they change Pokemon stats and even typings, movesets, etc. At that point I'd have to manually fix the legality of each Pokemon before they could be added to my collection. I've since kind of abandoned it, and just treat each new adventure as its own self-contained thing.
I maintained my collection for like 9 years though, from 2008~ to 2017, which is when I got disenfranchised with the new games and started getting into rom hacks and fan games. The collection is still there with all my bros from RSE all the way to SM, and a living dex, multiple competitive teams I manually bred/trained for online, and so on. I get a ton of nostalgia looking at it.
PokeMMO being always online does mean when the servers shut down, all your shit will be gone, which is certainly depressive for a game people are saying is grindy. Goes with the MMO territory I guess.
>manually fix the legality of each Pokemon
there are plugins for pkhex that can just automagically squeeze batches of them into legality while retaining their natures and memories and shit its really neat
>when the servers shut down, all your shit will be gone
this right here
this is it
if i put time into something i want to keep it
what sold me on this game before anything else was the fact that you can change a pokemon's ball
Soulless trash.
>can't use pokeathlon
>can't do any of the battle frontier facilities
>can't do contests
Yeah, no.
Isn't Underground gone too?
>>can't do any of the battle frontier facilities
>>can't do contests
These aren't true
They weren't playable when I gave Pokemmo a try
