IV will probably always be my favorite of the series, though admittedly a lot of it is nostalgia. Seems strange now, but it was pretty groundbreaking for an RPG back then, with multiple chapters all featuring different protagonists with their own stories to play through.
the dragon quest pokemon game on the gba where you had to do mystery dungeon stuff while fighting harder guys to increase your rank was cool. there was also that robot pokemon game that was fun. man those were good times
he's stopped drawing muscles and his shading is lazy but he's also pushing 70 and who knows how much RSI and/or carpal tunnel he's dealing with after decades of drawing at japanese manga industry pace.

IV is not that long and it's one of the best DQ games so give it a shot
make sure to play either the DS version with the party chat restoration mod or the mobile version

DQM is primarily a Japanese title and Japanese PS owner barely play dragon quest.

I wish they would make a Monster's Joker Sequel instead or a port to Switch or any other Console like they did with DQ XI
It is a sequel, DQM3 in Japan but the English release drop the 3. DQM and DQM2 remakes are on the 3ds and they are really good.
This new game is might as well be monsters Joker sequel because it took a lot of mechanic from Joker like the breeding and capturing mechanics
The remakes of 1 and 2 also use Joker mechanics, it’s just how the series is now

not necessarily I'd say, since this game looks like it's an origin story for Psaro and Rose. But do play 4 if you have the chance, it's a great game
