Pokemon doesn't get enough criticism for making THREE fire fighting starters in a row.
Incineroar clearly should've been also fire fighting, but maybe they change it to dark to avoid overdoing that typing even more.
For some reason they love making so many Pokemon with the same typing, they do it with normal flying for example, and recently with psychic fairy and grass ghost.
Meanwhile there are so many unexplored typings, and when we do get a unique typing it's usually some terrible mon like Volcanion or Scovillain.
At least we got Annihilape this gen.
Emboar could've just been monotype.
How new are you? People b***hed about that constantly for almost a decade
>Incineroar clearly should've been also fire fighting,
No it shouldn’t’ have
That would make Emboar an even bigger shitmon. And the Unova starters would be even more hated. Reminder that the set of monotype starters before Unova was so hated that even Game freak basically blacklisted them.
It should've been fire dark, looks evil to me.
Nah, Emboar is a sumo wrestler.
Infernape on the other hand had no reason to be fire/fighting, especially with Sun Wukong being 500 other things. I mean the Monkey King was born from a magic rock, make it rock type.
Fire Fighting is the chad combo, tgats why.
Heel wrestling will NEVER be real wrestling fire/dark for incineroar is fitting.
It's a mon that literally fights, there's no reason to not make it fighting.
Dark it's an undefined mess anyways.
> It's a mon that literally fights,
All mons “literally fight”
>there's no reason to not make it fighting.
There’s no reason it needs to be
>Dark it's an undefined mess anyways.
Trickery, Malice, Bad luck. Seems pretty well defined to me.
It’s hilarious how their designs got exponentially worse too.
Blaziken is one of the best and most creative designs in the series, Infernape is an incredibly boring cartoon animal but mostly inoffensive, while Emboar is one of the worst, most creatively bankrupt looking Pokemon ever.
It they really wanted to give Emboar a wrestling theme they could have made it Fire/Ground with a mud wrestling motif and it would’ve been way more interesting than what we actually got. Instead the copied not only the typing but the fricking chinese golden swirl pattern shit Infernape already had.
pig is better than monkey
emboar is the absolute worst starter in the series
>emboar is the absolute worst starter in the series
Even worse than THIS?
muscle chad ape > fat virgin neckbeard pig
>doesn’t have fricking moronic proportions
>has incredibly clear theme
>isn’t a creatively bankrupt rehash of the two starters before it
yes
>Literally just a cartoon gorilla with a drum
>Creative
>It’s hilarious how their designs got exponentially worse too.
Man in the chicken suit is easily the worst design there.
>Man in the chicken suit
it's called "Ra" anon don't forget that.
Blaziken looks like a troony in a chicken suit.
Obsessed
Lol Blazikengays are more delusional than zardgays.
Infernape > blaziken > emboar
Seethe
let me tell you zoomer, back in my day we'd b***h and moan about it constantly on gamefaqs and youtube comments like it was the worst thing about modern pokemon
I despise how gf's lack of creativity got us to gen NINE with so many unused type combos. Don't they have a checklist for this kind of shit?
To play devil's advocate, if they used every single type combination we wouldn't look forward to new Pokemon as much.
sometimes it feels like they avoid new type combos on purpose
they could’ve made slither wing bug/dragon and sneasler ice/poison and no one would’ve batted an eye
>Infernape is the best designed of the 3.
Sinnoh wins again
Monotype starters are all mistakes
>Incineroar clearly should've been also fire fighting, but maybe they change it to dark to avoid overdoing that typing even more.
It's a heel, a specific kind of wrestler known for playing the bad guy so no, dark works better.
Saw something about how all three Unova starters could've been fighting. Samurott and Emboar make sense, and serperior could be based on grappling.
Given how strongly Gen 5 associated swords with the Fighting type, after Gen 4 set the precedent with Gallade, it's really bizarre that Samurott was not the Fighting type starter.
Of course, all three starters are based on nobility/military from different cultures. They're arguably the most thematically uniform set of starters, even compared to the "jobmons" of recent gens.
Are people more upset at the type combo or the similarities in the Pokémon? Would people stop complaining if Blaziken was Fire/Flying and Infernape was fire only but all three designs stayed the same?
I think it's mainly because it was done three generations in a row.
It's kinda crazy how many grass/ghost Pokemon we have, all from Gen 6 or later. I guess psychic/fairy is kind of in the same boat since the retcon took place in Gen 6, but I feel like it's less bad since it covers older Pokemon. With Poltchageist and Sinistcha, it's like, okay, the 8 grass/ghost Pokemon before it weren't enough?
Blame Stealth Rock & GF's inability to balnce. They could have easily changed how it applied damage all the way back in gen4-5 but instead of dialing it back or just making it typeless they were too stubborn & shat themselves into a corner making rock-neutral Fire Starters until Delphox, saying frick it ultimately letting shit stagnate to where making Heavy Duty Boots in the first place would've saved them a lot of problems.
Stupid
