Emerald is cool but I'm honestly sick of hoenn gays. B2W2 are objectively better. Everyone who hates Unova just hate the pokemon introduced in gen 5 but other than that the games are the best of the classic games.

Unova is a shitty region and Hoenn is the most fun region to explore. That alone makes BW2 a slog and Emerald fun to play.

I literally quit pokemon over how disappointing these games were compared to gen 2 as a kid. it felt like a cheap knockoff after learning I couldn't go back to the previous region, which I expected to be able to do right up to beating the elite 4. sure having the entire series to compare it to makes that seem less bad, but it doesn't make it seem good.
one of the shortest most tedious boring pokemon games ever made unless the battle tower tickles your fancy. also HGSS slaughters it content-wise, where you don't have to list the same content 7 times to make an argument

More isn't always better. These days Shin RGB is more fun to play than FRLG. FRLG has more content, sure, but most of what it was good for (fixing RGBY bugs) has been backported while its negatives remain. Similarly, a lot of the new content in ORAS sucked ass. Polished Crystal is kino as frick, but some of the original content weighs it down along with the game being balanced around you doing EVERY optional activity.
Focused, shorter experiences can be better sometimes.

I'm 27 and prefer gen 4 and 5 my first game was Firered followed by emerald and I still don't put gen 3 in my top 4 gens
I'm 31 and I think Johto and Sinnoh were a bit weaker than Kanto and Hoenn. All four are good games, though. Unova, too, even if it could use touching up.
