gamefreak has been coasting big time for a long time.
How will this affect every other AAA game for the next 5 to 10 years?
My thoughts is to merge various popular takes.
Pokemon is one of the most successful rpg games in history and fortnite/shooters on PC. So combined, you get palworld. Maybe someone will take Palworld and combine it with Elden Ring and create a nonsensical game thats gonna be a hit.

I'm gonna be honest, I'm never going to be able to take the "Game Freak are lazy" argument seriously again when people are calling the 537th Ark/Rust-like on PC an example of "not being lazy"
the irony is that even with how hastily put together palworld is is that it still higher quality than gamefreak has put out in the last decade or 2.

I mean more in the way it's basically just asset flipping and AI generation shit, but if its fun who cares.
Palworld is just a bootleg Pokemon. Game Freak SHOULD'VE been able to make something much better and polished, but they never did. That makes them lazy.
The fact this bootleg early access shit is doing so well is proof of that.

sometimes, but honestly hardmode is a fricking drag to get through and the excessive amount of items just make the game bloated
I just find it funny how the games quality is on par with nu Pokemon maybe slightly higher because of not being held back by switch

Everyone has been starving for an open world pokemon. All those numbers could've been Game Freak's.
Open world pokemon is fine, but the problem I have is fricking guns in this world. If you replace guns with magic, thats a more something of my liking. Maybe even allow players to customize between various roles.
If you want to take active nuker role, then a full on glass cannon mage build. If you want to tank while your pokemon attacks, let me build a more tanky aspect. If you however want to empower your pokemon to make it stronger/faster/deadlier, let me play support.
