Pokemon is one of the most successful rpg games in history and fortnite/shooters on PC. So combined, you get palworld. Maybe someone will take Palworld and combine it with Elden Ring and create a nonsensical game thats gonna be a hit.
I'm gonna be honest, I'm never going to be able to take the "Game Freak are lazy" argument seriously again when people are calling the 537th Ark/Rust-like on PC an example of "not being lazy"
Palworld is just a bootleg Pokemon. Game Freak SHOULD'VE been able to make something much better and polished, but they never did. That makes them lazy.
The fact this bootleg early access shit is doing so well is proof of that.
Everyone and their mother has thought of "pokemon with guns" before. It's just the first time it's properly done.
>fortnite pokemon
Fortnite was already just Minecraft PUBG
Are you legitimately shocked that if you take two things people like and smoosh them together, you will get out something people also like? Especially kids?
And Minecraft was supposed to be first person Dwarf Fortress. According to the lead Palworld dev, DF is his favorite game. So of all the mongrelized DNA in the mix, Palworld has the most legitimacy as whatever i dont feel like finishing this post
>highest concurrent player count
That's a fricking lie. Back when pubg still cost money it hit like 2.5 million players. You can just retroactively say that doesn't count because it's free now. Why are Japs such sneaky liars?
>thought this is one of the edits since it peaked at 855k yesterday >check current peak on the DB >it's real and it might surpass Dota 2
what the frick, is this unironically meme magic at work here?
I thought the novelty would wear off pretty quickly, but it's looking better than I expected.
Everyone has been starving for an open world pokemon. All those numbers could've been Game Freak's.
Open world pokemon is fine, but the problem I have is fricking guns in this world. If you replace guns with magic, thats a more something of my liking. Maybe even allow players to customize between various roles.
If you want to take active nuker role, then a full on glass cannon mage build. If you want to tank while your pokemon attacks, let me build a more tanky aspect. If you however want to empower your pokemon to make it stronger/faster/deadlier, let me play support.
people wanted a pokemon version of Ark since ark was in early-early access.
gamefreak has been coasting big time for a long time.
How will this affect every other AAA game for the next 5 to 10 years?
My thoughts is to merge various popular takes.

monster collecting becomes a thing again

the irony is that even with how hastily put together palworld is is that it still higher quality than gamefreak has put out in the last decade or 2.
they've been developing palworld for 2-3 years
I mean more in the way it's basically just asset flipping and AI generation shit, but if its fun who cares.

You know those aren't the same people, right?
its still much better than cybertroon 2477
Why are they like this

I knew Valheim was popular when it came out but I didn't realize it was THAT popular
Is Terraria fun?
no it's pozzed
sometimes, but honestly hardmode is a fricking drag to get through and the excessive amount of items just make the game bloated
I just find it funny how the games quality is on par with nu Pokemon maybe slightly higher because of not being held back by switch
It gets really old when every single game is met with the same obsession over steamcharts and sales and twitter screencaps.

Guns just ruins the whole thing for me
>Californian-tier opinion
Yeah, nah.
go back to your coloring book
highest player count of a paid game is still PUBG
bump
>reasonbly price your game
>with reasoinble quality and amount of content
>sell
Crazy, innit? That's why $70 games will never catch up.
I have never played any of the top 10 and never will
pokemon + fortnite + minecraft
It's literally crack cocaine to zoomers.
yes!
>People
I would not qualify those brainless things as people.
early access survival games and their consequences have been a disaster for the human race
That stat isn't even correct. PUBG had 3-4 million. Why doesn't it show up in the charts?
